[Q] Need help returning AT&T Captivate to 2.3.3 stock!!

Hey all. Have an AT&T Captivate that came with Gingerbread 2.3.3 on it.
After someone 'rooted' it it now has what I am finding out is the I9000 ROM. (if I am not mistaken, that's for UK phones?? I am in the US.)
I have no Android marked, my 'Home button' does not work, and I can receive text messages, but not send them. (I can send text with a side-app)
At this point, I just want my old stock and locked AT&T phone back.
(How does that song go? ... 'You don't know what you got till it's gone'. LOL)
Can anyone help?
thanks
Try to post in the correct area. It'll help you get help faster.

That should be what you're looking for.
Within the captivate forum there are threads that'll help you flash to lots of different roms. Nothing's wrong with i9000. They just need to be reoriented.
Good luck!

Sticky Request i777 =/= skyrocket

I would just like to request that a sticky be made or a warning be added to the main stickies in the original and ported development forums to warn users that the i777 Galaxy S II 4G is not the i727 Galaxy SII Skyrocket. It seems really easy for myself as well as others to confuse the two.
I bricked my friends Skyrocket after flashing a ROM from the ported development thread as others have also done. Here is the post from the skyrocket forum.

So, I made the stupidest mistake ever flashing a rom. My friend comes over and tells me his phone is slow and acts funny. He says that he wants a new Rom which is more user friendly (if there is one). So, I've already flashed a ROM on his phone before so it already had CWM recovery installed. I decide to try MIUI on the phone.
The first thing I do, which is what I always DID (and unless I get lazy will never do again) is open up google and type "XDA AT&T Galaxy S II", fairly harmless, I though but it turned out to be a fatal mistake. I search the forums, see buzz about ICS leaks and figure I'm in the right place then I see a section called ported development. I go there and see MIUIandroid for Galaxy SII right off the bat and download it without a second thought. This may seem obviously wrong to you all but being that I am a Nexus S 4G user, I am unaccustomed to the numeration of the model number, I thought i777 sounded correct.
I boot into recovery then proceed to back-up the phone, wipe data, cache, dalvik, and finally system like always then flash the rom. It flashed just fine then I returned to the recovery screen and tapped reboot system.
It never turned back on. No matter what I did to try to get a response (two buttons then plug in usb to get ODIN with and without the battery), nothing, no response. I didn't figure out why until I went to find JTAG services and found that the i777 was in fact the older model.
I plan to send it in to be JTAG'ed and buy my friend a Galaxy Nexus. We've been friends for years and he isn't mad at all. I have a job and can afford it (even though it sucks). I figure I owe it to him. However this could have all been avoided if I had paid attention.
In closing, I would first like to suggest some things so maybe some of you learn from my mistakes.
1. As experienced an XDA'er as you may think you are, even you can make (uber) rookie mistakes. Pay attention and work slowly, your wallet will thank you!
2. Never, EVER flash a rom for a friend! The worst things always tend to happen when you are using someone elses stuff! (no idea why, but they do!)

I recognize many will say I didn't pay enough attention and that this is completely my fault. That's true, it is.
However, I think adding a warning wouldn't harm these forums and feel that it would be extremely helpful. Most people are not perfect and small reminders like that could help spare users from making a grave mistake.

Just curious... if you didn't take the time to see if you were in the right forum, would you have REALLY checked the sticky to see if it was the right forum also?
I guess if you say it would help.
I wonder if anyone has ever accidentally flashed a skyrocket rom on a i777?

Uh, how about no. Users should know this.. we do NOT need a sticky for this..

Receiving T-Mobile Galaxy S II (SGH-T989) Have Some Questions

Hey guys,
HTC Sensation recently broke and Asurion is sending me a Galaxy S II. It was either that or an HTC Amaze and since I wasn't impressed with the Sensation I opted not for the Amaze but S II rather. Couple of questions I have though as I am pressed for time at work right now and don't have the time to search. So here goes:
Can someone point me to how to root it once it arrives?
Are the ICS ROMs stable and which bugs does it contain?
The S II uses CWM recovery correct?
The T-Mobile S II is the SGH-T989 and not this I9100 model I have been seeing right?
That's all I can think of for now. Anything other useful tips or advice I'd greatly appreciate it! I feel happy to be a part of the S II family now. It seems like a really good device that I will be happy with. Thanks again!
Try here (Maybe ask mods to move your thread to avoid duplication; report your post by clicking the triangle with the ! in it next to your post).

SGH-1757m

Hi,
I recently bought the new Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE SGH 1757M (Bell Canada) and is wondering if using the 1777 ROM (this forum) would be acceptable. I was unable to find a section dedicated to my phone.
Thank you
I would guess if you want to turn your phone into a paperweight, go ahead. But if you need a phone, I wouldn't try it.

i have already successfully rooted in the past (had the galaxy s). But i am also aware, that a slight change could cause error (this is why i am asking). Isn't there any section on this forum dedicated to the new Galaxy S2 LTE?
Your phone model is SGH-I757M. You could have searched, but you can go here as a starting place. Maybe you can find more info around there. BTW, this was the first result from a google search using the terms "sgh-i757m xda"
To make your life easier when searching, it's i757m, not 1757m. Same in here, it's i777, not 1777.
Thanks everyone for your input. case solved.
OP - please take a few minutes in the future, and do some searching. No need for this thread at all.

[Q] Triangle Away reset

I'm new to the forum and when I bought the "Triangle away app" my counter read 2. $2.50 later, (even though my app appeared to work, when I rebooted my rooted Verizon GS3 SCH I535 4.4.2,) the number remained unchanged. The app asked that I post any issues to this forum, so here it is. I did a quick search of the general forum and found no definitive assistance already extant and I don't have hours to spend sifting through the whole thing.. So, if someone feels like they can, or would like to point me in the right direction.....thank you in advance. If not, I hope the devs enjoy their beer.
issue resolved
My issue with Triangle away is resolved. Strictly user error, successfully completed reset as advertised. My apologies to the devs for being snarky.

This is not the Verizon s3 area. Using anything from here will ruin your day.
Glad you got it sorted though.
