[Q] CM9 --> Samsung S II Official 4.0 LPG Rom??? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm a new user (quiet new...)
and I don't know if I can change my S II from CM9 to Samsung S II Official 4.0 LPG Rom?
I did a lot of research but still couldn't find the answer...
I watch people flashing their S II from 2.3.5 but no one using CM9...
Could someone answer me?

Yes, just flash stock rom via Odin.
You can go back and forth to and from any rom you wish aslong as its for your device. Which means dont just flash any old **** to your device, read, learn enjoy.

Learn using some stickies
Wipe using cwm
Flash using Odin, but In my opinion flash lpd instead of old lpg

Thanks for answering first~
"go back and forth to and from any rom"? Is that means I have to flash it back to 2.3.5 first? Using recovery?

And what are LPD and LPG,also LPF LPE somethings like that.

your model number check in settings>>about phone
make sure to flash correct to match your device gt-19100 or gt-19100G dont mix them up.
also you talk about CM9 check the thread for it but i would research it first

So, that means I could now flash my CM9 into Samsung 4.0 LPG Rom directly without turning back S II into 2.3.5 first right?

Can somebody answer me please ??????

Yes, as long as you read the instructions of installing CM9. People get problems after installation usually due to not properly installing.
Also it would be best to be patient for replies, instead of posting for an answer just 30 minutes later. Plenty of people wait for replies hours to days later.

Firstly, this is a dev forum, Does it resemble absolutely anything like a Q&A or general forum or even a forum you should be creating a topic in?
Second, There is an abundance of data on how to flash, go check stickies etc. If you have flashed ICS then you can flash GB, its the exact same process.
thanks for your responses.
im from colombia, and my english is poor
restore your backup if you made one!!
wipe data/cache/dalvic/ restore
Just reboot in recovery, wipe everything. If you have a rom on your sdcard just flash it. If not use the restore method if you have a backup. Simple as that

Install Kernel CF-Root, install rom from SDCard or Install Stock rom from ODIN
Instal stock rom first to back your modem version , then you can back your last backup

[Q] Newbie --India --Three Network mobile -- Basic Questions

Hi All,
I bought a used galaxy S2 I9100 yesterday, new to android.I have been a iphone user for 4 years and pretty aware of jailbreaking, unlocking installing custom firmwares. the terminology here in Android world is different though.
Have searched and read through different guides on the forum but still got some questions.
Model GT i900 LKAH3G
PDA i9100XWKE1
CSC I9100H3GKD4
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKDD-CL161513 [email protected] # 2
Build Number GINGERBREAD.XWKE1
Looks like it was on Three network but it is unlocked mobile as i can use my airtel sim on the phone.
I dont want the Three network related stuff on the phone so i need to debrand the phone -- how to do it? there is guide on XDA forum but it talks primarily for O2 phones or might be i did not read it correctly. (there are also some options like the network mode which are disabled on this ROM )
Once debranding is done should i be ok to use any ROM or kernel?
Which would be best ROM to be installed and will it work for me in India.
Can i install the custom ROM and would i be able to install apps from the android Market.
If these have already been answered , can you please provide the link for that thread.
Thank You
I'd advice you to try the new ics roms, you can find the instructions inside the various rom threads, flashing these roms will get rid of the three junk as well as update your phone to the latest android os a.k.a ICS ..........
there is no such thing as a best rom for a specific country, but you can try different modems to find the one that gives you the best network and battery, you can find your modem under the baseband in about phone....
google for more info
happy flashing and welcome to Android we luf you here...........
Learn how to use Odin
Download stock gb from from checkfus or sammobile.
Flash using Odin, you will be unbranded.
After that root using cfroot, now learn how to use cfroot.
Now you can flash custom roms.

Hi KJplasma &atifsh
Thank you for the details.
can i install the below listed indian stock firmware using odin
PDA :I9100XWKE8 CSC:I9100ODDKE2
or do i need to install the firmware from UK
PDA :I9100XXKF2 CSC:MULTIOXAKF2
do i need to change the csc if i install the UK version?
Thanks
forget about csc.
if you have i9100 you can flash any region ROM and use in any country.
if you want Gb than go for la2 italy rom , iv used that and last time i check that was the fastest stock rom for GB
you can also flash ICS rom like uk lp7 too, just stay away from lp9 roms at the moment.
ad dont forget to wipe using the dialpad code *2767*3855#. [will wipe all data stored]

go for anything above LPQ on the sammobile firmware list ...

I have tried to do a factory rest from the phone's privacy menu but even after everything is done, istill see some files in the gallery.
i tried the code *2767*3855# everything goes fine but i see the message "cant access to system\csc\h3g\system\" and then the phone strats as normal.
can i flash it to the OS even if i am getting this message using odin or do i need to
do something before i flash?
factory reset will not delete your user stored data on the SD card...that can be manually deleted...if you want
you can flash the OS from ODIN

Yes though the newer dxlp9 was much better, previous one had bunch of issues including sleep of death.
Also that ROM introduces the contact/dialer lag bug. Which some how got to Google account and now every time I sync contacts it get back.
I deleted all my contacts and synced again and it's all better, tried on dxlp9 and was working fine, than I switched to my regular cm9.

For a start, if you remember your last ROM that doesn't had heat issues, flash that modem. Doesn't matter if you use GB modem on ics.
I flashed the modem of my region xxki4 which is 2.3.5 jpkj2 and had no issues of heat in ics.

Got my new Galaxy S2 - How to root/install CWM?

Hello,
I just got my new Galaxy S2 and want to install the Resurrection Remix Rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854)
Since there are soo many topics and threads here, I can't even find the answer I'm looking for with the search bar, so I'm sorry to ask.
I want to know how to install CWM and this ROM, is there a guide somewhere? What's the best way to root it and install CWM?
It would be really nice if someone could post it.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Greezes,

just get odin and then flash a rooted and cmw kernel.

Well, first thing to do is to get Odin like our friend already said, u can look here in forum for links, u will need the Odin 1.85
After that go to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Its Chainfire kernel, it Root and install CWM and Superuser basically.. he keeps it the most original as possible...
Attention ! Download the version that is compatible to ur ROM Version !
now go to odin, in PDA u add the .tar file from chainfire and select start. (If u dont know how to use Odin completelly, i suggest u to read something about first!)
After its complete the SGSII will restart and it will be rooted, now u can download the rom u want and flash it through CWM...
Remember to read FAQ first...
Thank you button if u like it ! =D
Acutally, the first thing you should do is confirm what model of the Galaxy SII you have, since there are over a dozen variants, some of which are specific to the US. I say this because this is your first post in the Galaxy SII forum, and a brief perusal of your posting history doesn't really give any clues as to your geographical location.
Look on the label under the battery.
Does it say "GT-i9100"?
If so, you're in the right place.
If not, you're in the wrong place, and flashing ANYthing for an i9100 will potentially brick your device.
I got a Galaxy S2 i9100.
Thanks a lot for your great replys, you guys are awesome!!
I know what to do now.

Welcome pal ! This Forum helped me for one year till now, its great to share some experience ! =D
Just have another question because I don't want to brick my new S2:
In this guide which Danpamio posted: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
I have to look for the right ROM to flash via odin to my S2.
Mine got the "LP7" in the system settings info.
Now, which of there roms do I have to install? What's the difference?
CF-Root-SGS2_DX_XTC_LP7-v5.4-CWM5.zip
CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_LP7-v5.4-CWM5.zip
Thanks in advance!
This is the safe way, just notice recovery is only there until you reboot, but root stays, still there are instructions how to unroot

If you read the entire thread you are referencing it clearly states:
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG1-v4.1-CWM4.zip
The XX and OXA identifiers are not that important. Usually a "KG1" kernel is a "KG1" kernel, and that is that. Sometimes (pretty rare) it happens there will be multiple different kernels with the same name in different firmwares, that are actually different. If this happens, they are usually only very minor changes and you should expect them to still be fully compatible. I include the "XX" and "OXA" identifiers so the very advanced users can deduce from which full firmware I have taken the kernel file.

Si is it this easy to Unroot and Update to ICS?

Hi, I just bought myself a Samsung Galaxy S2, specifically Gt-I9100M.
I am on the old Gingerbread software, and my phone is currently in a Stock and ROOTED Bell ROM I believe(I got Superuser).
I want to upgrade to ICS, and could you please tell me if following this extremely simple guide will work? galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-unroot/how-to-unrootunbrick-your-galaxy-s2-i9100-ics/
screenshot added.
To unroot, you need to flash the original kernel ugkg2. However, to flash it, you need to do it through Odin. Then, why flash the kernel only when you can flash the full ics firmware instead.
My suggestion, flash the full firmware instead. It's going to be quicker.
If you don't know Odin, read read and read again before doing anything. This forum is your friend.

Download the one for your carrier and follow the guide as said. It will install stock ICS (no root). Just in case though, I suggest you backup your data on your phone to your computer or such.
The one for our phone is UGLD3. Download it. Download also UGKG2 just in case something happen with the installation. When I tried to update my phone I had a Kernel Upload Panic Mode error. I had to reinstall UGKG2 to make my phone work again.

[SOLVED] I bricked my phone..urgent help needed please..

I updated my sgs2 officially yesterday from ICS to jellybean 4.1.2...it was working good but I lost root...I searched the web to root it again and foung this website..
http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2-gt-i9100-jelly-bean-android-4-1-14-1-2/
I successfully rooted it but to my bad luck I tapped on the supersu as mentioned in the video demonstration at the website and things went wrong..the supersu asked me whether to start normally or CWM recovery, I opted for CWM recovery...Now my phone is stuck at the yellow triangle..I can go to download mode only...I reflashed the same kernel but in vain...
Please help me to recover my phone as I need it badly...many thanks in advance.
Let me tell you that I leave in middle east and as I remeber it was updated to XXls8 or something.

Do you recommend to flash this rom instead of stock rom? But where from download? And how to flash?
Go back to stock first; it will give you a 'clean slate'. Getting your phone working normally/usable should be your only priority/thought at this stage. You can worry about flashing other roms/kernels once you've done that.

Thanks a lot MistahBungle and all who supported me...Thanks God I finally reflashed stock ROM which I downloaded from Samfirmware and it is working well.
May I request all those geeks to guide me to root the easiest way. Further I will request you people to tell me the Best ROM which support RTL...Bundle of thanks.
Good man. You're welcome Easy way to root is to flash the Odin version of any custom kernel which works with Android version of the stock rom you're currently running (Siyah & Dorimanx are but two, there are others); read the thread devoted to the particular kernel you want to flash to work out which build you need to use. Once you flash it you'll have a rooted phone with CWM.
'Best rom' threads are not allowed here; once you have CWM installed it's really easy to flash/try a bunch of roms & find one you like, it takes 5 minutes to backup or restore, if you find you don't like a rom you try, it's easy to go back to your previous setup & try another. Generally if you need things that are a 'bit fiddly' to 'just work' without dramas, you're better off sticking with stock. But you can check the threads of various custom roms to see if they support the features you need to use. You could always dual boot if the particular features you want to use only work with stock, yet you like a particular custom rom & want to use it as a daily driver.
