Hi,
Please can somebody explain what SiyahKernel v3.2.4 is and whether I can flash it to my Galaxy S2 (using Odin?) WITHOUT invalidating my phone's warranty?
I have a Wifi issue (it won't turn on) which I have tried to cure by flashing the following...
GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWKI4_I9100XEUKH2_I9100XXKI1.tar.md5
and
GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWLP7_I9100XXLPS_I9100XEULP5.tar.md5
...but it hasn't cured the problem.
Some people on the net are advising to use SiyahKernel v3.2.4 kernel to fix the issue.
Is this possible to do without invalidating my warranty?
Thank you.

Its a modified kernel one of many .
WITHOUT invalidating my phone's warranty?
No custom roms kernel or root invalidate warranty .

Hi JJEgan and thank you for your reply.
I was under the impression that if I flashed a non-stock rom, it would increment my binary counter and this would then indicate I had flashed a modified ROM?
What is it that causes an increment in this counter?
What causes yellow triangles and suchlike to appear?
I have heard about these things and have read that I would need to buy a device to reset the binary counter off of eBay and whatnot.
I took my phone recently to an official Samsung service agent and he said that if I had flashed the firmware then that would invalidate the warranty.
I told him that I had only ever flashed original Samsung firmware (Gingerbread/ICS) which he was happy with.
If I cannot fix the problem I have with my Wifi not switching on then I really want to make sure that Samsung are willing to accept and repair my phone under warranty.
I don't doubt your word for one minute and thank you again for your help. It's my own ignorance which makes me ask these questions

Hello i am hoping that someone will be able to help me. I tried rooting my phone and when it booted up i don't have a network. Now i can't' call/text/checkemail.
I tried resetting to factory settings and that didn't work. how do i remove the root so its back to stock?
Thank you!
Rooting phone has nothing to do with the network you did something wrong .
Remove root by flashing full stock firmware matched as close as possible to your original firmware .

I replies as per Samsung Galaxy SGS2 i9100 model and know nothing about a Sprint phone .
It would make sense to either look for a Sprint thread here or if Sprint is in the stock rom links i gave download the latest .
If it worked before root the strong probability is that you made a mistake its usually recoverable though but no idea how you rooted .

I bought my S2 last January, and even that I didn't really care about rooting, I've came across these " Make the best out of your s2" articles and I decided to give rooting a shot.
I managed to root it and flash insecure kernel on it and everything was alright. However, I've heard that ICS4 can only be updated via KIES if I'm not on Root/insecure kernel, so I went ahead opened the application " S2 Root",and unrooted successfully. Nevertheless, I wasn't able to get rid of the kernel, which is perventing me from updating.
I've have searched on the forum, and I came across an article suppling stock roms, but it was all on multiupload, which is down since a while.
I'm aware that I can update to ICS4 using odin, but I'm more into the official way since I didn't really see a reason in rooting ( after I did ), well I'm certain it's because I'm just a casual user, who wants to call, or just play with some apps.
Some Info about my phone:
Samsung Galaxy Sll ( Of course )
JPKF3 Built!
I'd really appreciate if someone can link me to the above stock rom ( I've searched and find none), or just tell a method where I can remove this kernel in any possible way.
Much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

if you wan't to upgrade you don't need to unroot, just flash firmware trough odin (addicted to your country)
also to unroot just flash with oding (stock firmware) and wipe data/factory reset and done,
threads are everywhere in general just look around

Since this topic is started might aswell use it instead of making a new one...so my question is:
From what I've read, in order to install CM7.2 on a Galaxy S2, you also need to install a custom kernel...so if I did all that, and want revert back to my original ROM and kernel, I just flash a stock ROM from Sammobile? Or the Kernel will remain the custom one (if so, how do I change it back to the stock one)?

Nope your kernel won't be left until you flash a Rom which has no kernel, but all Samsung roms out there have kernels inside the flashable tar or zip, you ain't smart if you don't provide a kernel which is made specially for the Rom

Firmware for India you can find on http://samfirmware.com.
Hi All,
I'm totally new to rooting and to be honest I never planned to get into it and especially not in this way.... please read on....
I bought a 2nd hand S3. The original owner told me it had been unlocked from Vodafone UK, but no further modifications.
So the phone arrives and I turn it on and the first thing I notice is UltimaROM asking to download their latest v9 ROM. I see other apps installed like SuperuserSU, Headphones shortcut for SGS3, S Note etc... so I suspect the device has indeed been modified. Seller tells me it's only been unlocked and nothing else. Also, comparing to a work colleague's stock S3, my phone has a different appearance (different battery % icon amongst others...), I see Nexus 4 wallpapers are available, JaiThemes etc... all looks a bit fishy to me.
Also phone does boot into recovery mode into CWM...
So I start reading a little bit, I've downloaded Rootchecker - says phone is not rooted.
All I ever wanted was a stock S3, no interest in rooting for now. Could someone please advise what I can do to get back to stock and have it unlocked? I know there are guides to un-root a phone, but rootchecker says my phone is not rooted, and I have no original backup, so I don't know where to go from here....
Any help or guidance is appreciated here...
Check the basics, there's a guide on flashing a stock ROM.
The seller is definitely lying to you

Thanks for the reply.
If I find a Vodafone UK stock ROM, will I then lock the phone back to Vodafone?
Thanks
Don't think so, but why would you get a vodafone ROM? Just get a universal one

Thanks for that, I will look for a universal one.
I've been looking for a bit, but I can't find the 'basics' section you mention in order to flash a stock ROM.
I have searched the forums, and people have mentioned ' I flashed a stock ROM' but I need to know the steps to do this...
Also - has my warranty been affected? If yes and it is now invalid, will flashing a stock ROM solve this?
Again, any help is really appreciated here.

Hello XDA
I've been doing some research on my problem on dozens og forums, but I still haven't got what I'm looking for.
The problem:
I have a danish 3 (three) branded GT-I9100, which doesn't allow me to get the new android 4.1 update, as they haven't infected the update with their 3 junk yet.
I'm not using any of their applications or shortcuts, and would very much like to get rid of everything that has something to do with 3.
I need to backup the stock firmware in order to keep my warranty if something goes wrong, but I haven't been able to find out how to do it, because my phone has a very strange kernel: 3.0.15-1114882 [email protected] #3
I hope someone can help me. I'm not completely noob, i've been rooting my previously android phones without any problems, but I just can't figure out how to do it with this kernel.
Best regards
Morten

Then go to the official i9100 JB thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487".
Sent from my digital submersible hovercraft.
1.just flash the nordic jellybean.
2.you dont really get a "standard backup".what you would do is just reflash the firmware your on now (remove yellow triangle etc if needed) then send your phone for warranty.
3.if your phone ever got totally bricked, it wouldnt matter what rom your on if samsung couldnt boot it either to tell.
4.so get the nordic jb rom from sammobile, flash it with odin, root with philz kernel.read about efs backup and nand backup and spockys thread about simlock...lol

First you need to find out if your phone is network locked. Theres an app for that. (search xda/play store) the same app will be able to unlock it for you too but you will need to root your phone.. see my signature for your best option as its root with stock recovery. Your next step go to sammobile.com and find and download your current firmware from there. Then find a jelly bean rom I'm using nordic but search and see what sounds best to you... There are also custom roms you may wish to choose (wannam, jellybam, there are many) find one for you with the search box or browse the forum for them. there are custom kernels as well (jeboo, philz, there are many) find one for you as above or use what your rom choice is packed with.
I cant recommend enough using mobile odin (Play store) will cost you a couple of your currency but its worth every penny.
LASTLY AND VERY MUCH MOST IMPORTANTLY DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING UNLESS YOU ARE 10000000% HAPPY TO DO IT ONE SINGLE MISTAKE AND YOU'LL BE BACK HERE ASKING FOR HELP TO UNBRICK IT.
Read these before you do anything... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1826497

But how will I find the firmware I'm currently on? My warranty is spoiled if the phone isn't carrier branded,
as I have to hand it to my local 3 store to get them to send it to repair.
Perhaps my question should've been more like this:
How can I backup my branded firmware on my galaxy s2 from 3 (three)
Perhaps I'm a bit noob afterall, as I haven't seen that answer in your post or the others posts.

You havent seen it because it doesnt exist.I dont know how much of a noob you are, but you go to sammobile and get the stock firmware you are on now, and flash that if you are sending your phone back for warranty.
Eg.Im using spanish jb rooted because UK jb rom not out yet.My original software was I9100XWLPT (which is UK unbranded 4.0.4).
So if Im sending my phone back, I just flash the LPT rom from Sammobile; and check no traces of root are on my phone.
So, what you think a backup is/means, is the same result as just flashing the stock rom your on now.
You can check or wait to see if someone can confirm what level of, or if kies can make a backup of your stock rom, as I dont use kies or havent seen anyone using it.They just use odin.
