You should probably give it a little more time to get a proper write-up since flashing radios can be on the risky side. Good news is that will be very soon
Sent from my Photon 4G via Tapatalk 2
1. Your Photon must be "unlock" , this mean unlocking the boot loader so that you can flash "custom recovery" and use that to flash custom Rom or Radio.
2. The GSM unlock thread is providing the "Radio" from Japan's Photon that does not contain the locked down on US GSM network (t-mobile, at&t). Once you flashed that to replaced the current Sprint Radio, it should work with t-mobile or AT&T, however it will not work with Sprint CDMA.
There are 2 types of unlock:
1. Unlock Boot Loader
2. Unlock SIM card
So be careful.
what are the commands to actually flash the radio?
I know how to unlock the boot-loader and all that, just never flashed a different radio

If you already unlock the boot loader and had CWM recovery installed.
1. Then go to this thread first, Read and follow the procedure to get rid the Sprint activation: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1265816&highlight=how+to+bypass+activation
2. Go to setting and set mobile network to GSM
3. Go to this thread here, Read and download the KKDI radio and flash the Radio through CWM recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664212
4. Insert your SIM card and reboot.
It should work. Beware that it will not work on CDMA Sprint any more after flashing the GSM Radio.

I am going to go on a trip to the Cayman Islands in a little over a week and I was thinking about snagging an international VZW phone to use while I am there. Last time I went I carried a sim unlocked iPhone and it worked great by just picking up a prepaid card. I know the Rezound had the radios in the beginning but I am having a hard time figuring out how well it works and where it stands as of now thanks to updates and what not. My question is, how is the Rezound working on voice and data and if I should be looking at certain leaks for better performance? Any insight would be appreciated, and if you guys think there is a phone that will work better for me, feel free to make suggestions.

The rezound is a global phone, if you whant a easy to us eno setup needed rom for gsm, use one of mine(Rezound Miaster) , when you flash this custom rom, just pop in any Sim card and it will work, no settings or tweaks or anything needed to do. you migh thave to enter your apns depending on your carrier.

When using Rezound Miaster for GSM, will I get HSDPA ??
In most of the post i've read before. Rezound were only goes as far as EDGE...
And if I want to use Rezound Miaster, I just flash it ?? no Clockwork Recovery ??

You're gonna get HSPA+ if your network provider uses the 2100mhz frequency band (almost every global provider does). Otherwise you'll have to stick to EDGE.
And yes, you do need recovery, though it's Armon Ra that is recommended not CWM. The later still got some bugs.

I flashed the ICS leak the 605.10 the one that's supposed to be the OTA one. I went to the Verizon store they said it should work but they don't know since its not technically official. It should work with the 4G SIM card. Is it unlocked for any sim or can I only use it with the Verizon SIM? I just didn't wanna post a thread about this.
Thanks

Yes, the rezound is factory unlocked by default, you gotta enable gsm by either flashing a gsm rom (and be able to send texts on gsm for a change) or simply root and look for the stock gsm patch that works on that leak you're running.

Okay...lol...I say this now and apologize 1000 times...I am sorry that im a noob. But we were all noobs at one point..So please show some compassion. -_-
1,000,000 Thanks to halfevildruid for his Photon Unlock GSM thread and Lokifish Marz for his All things MoPho! thread.
halfevildruid gave a 4 line "guide" to unlocking GSM on a photon.
1-SBF to stock base. Root your phone, unlock bootloader, install custom recovery and perform a nandroid backup of your stock rom!
2-Flash KDDI radio from recovery.
3-Flash your ROM. You may need to enable GSM/UMTS in your mobile network settings. You also may need to enable data roaming and set your APN's.
4-Profit! If all you wanted was the unlock then your done! otherwise...
I dont want to get lost in his 50 pages and wanted to reach out to the Photon portion of this community for a slower...more detailed "How-To" for someone like me. LOL.
I can read. VERY well. And if there are guides to each step needed, I will read them and complete them.
So here is MY photon...
Basic, stock photon. Rooted. Bad ESN so I dont care to ever get back to sprint. I have a t-mobile but the phone is not as beautiful as my MoPho.
Can I PLEASE get a slower, slightly more detailed explanation of how to bring my MoPho back to life with my T-Mobile Sim?

so its easy once you do it once. 1st. unlock the boot loader (http://youtu.be/YCv4RzO2324). 2nd. root your device(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xAYkejI4CE&feature=share&list=PLDE378F92431C38DF). 2.2nd get rid of the sprint verification stuff. ( google it, you'll need root explorer to do so.) 3rd. install clockworkmod( the middle of the video [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfJJ0h4d-80&feature=share&list=PLDE378F92431C38DF]). 4th. find a rom that will work with this hack.( the link is on the instructions page.) and 5th. back up using clockworkmod. 6th. flash the gsm exploit first and then flash the new rom. this is how i did it and after trial and errrrrrrrrr i finally got it but i redid it and it took me about 2 hours on a single battery while taking care of my kids and cooking. hit me up if you got questions.

that will depend if you can unlock. All you have articulated so far is that you have 2.3 which could include 2.3.4, 2.3.5, or another earlier version.

Flashing a rom or RUU won't remove s-off, as long as it's s-off, doesn't matter if the bootloader is locked or not.

Why do you need SIM unlocked if you're already HTC dev unlocked, s-off and super-cid? Once you've attained these you can flash any compatible ROM or radio baseband on your handset or use any GSM compatible SIM card. SIM unlock was only important before these tools were available for the Amaze.
If you haven't yet attained s-off or super-cid and are having problems with your carrier's SIM in your US T-Mobile handset, then do those procedures first. You will probably have to flash back to stock ROM for s-off. Without these manufacturer locks on your device you have total freedom to install any software and use on any GSM carrier.

He's in Peru. Neither T-Mobile or AT&T are carriers there. Once the phone is HTC-dev unlocked, s-off, and super-cid he can use any GSM SIM card and it will operate with that carrier. The only way it wouldn't work is if IMEI is blacklisted due to being previously reported stolen and if that were the case a SIM unlock wouldn't help either.

To check your IMEI is easy there's a tool in the swappa forum near the top of the main page. You can find the one for your handset under settings/about phone. The thing is, you're using a T-Mobile US phone on a different carrier in another country. You need to either unlock the SIM or attain s-off and super-cid. If you don't you're using a foreign SIM card to the device and will have issues. They may be connectivity related, or it may not work at all.
The preferred solution is s-off and super-cid, as this gives you the freedom to use any ROM (not just those based on T-Mobile) plus allows you to try different radio basebands. Different carriers use different GSM base frequencies. You may find non T-Mobile radios work better in your location. The only way to find out is to test and use the one that gives you the best throughput consistently. Just use an ICS radio with ICS or newer ROMs, a GB radio won't work with ICS.
The instructions for s-off and super-cid are located in threads pinned to the top of the forums. Read through them and all the info you seek will be listed in easy to understand instructions.
I hope this helps
Ciao
Edit: since you're new here, you aren't familiar with our customs or board etiquette. If I or anyone else helps you with useful information it's considered good form to thank them for doing so with the 'thanks' button.

Does Sunshine say it can do a carrier unlock? Because last I checked Sprint is CDMA, not GSM...
"Sprint SIM unlock features are considered experimental." If the M9 is like my other HTC phones, the command to s-on is "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" Note: this will brick a device that has any oddities that require s-off like mismatching aboot to firmware, etc. In other words, be sure you are full stock before running the command.

So you want a SIM unlock? Sunshine is the only method and per the Devs of it, it isn't guaranteed. "SIM unlock for sprint M9 is considered experimental."
Edit: only other way is to call Sprint and have them unlock the SIM. If it's not subsidized, they should have no issues unlocking the SIM.

Edit: here is the stipulation on unlocking. Yes, the M9 is capable per this link. Please don't say carrier unlock doesn't work if they state it does and some of us had it happen quite easily...
