Hi guys I'm fairly new here and was hoping you guys could help me out.
so i got my amaze a couple months ago from this guy and he told me had rooted the phone but then he unrooted it.
So fastforward to today and i'm trying to update my phone to the new android 4.0 . it downloads the update but then when it shuts off to start installing the update a triangle pops up with an exclamation mark.
it wouldn't go away so i took the battery out to restart it, which it did.
How do i go about fixing this . Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
and this was on my bootloader screen if it helps any

To receive ota's you must have a locked bootloader. Yours is unlocked.
Download hasoon all in one tool. Install the HTC drivers and then relock the bootloader.. Then you'll be all set to install them update

i did just that and now the phone keeps rebooting into the bootloader.

I think you need to restore stock recovery, etc before yo relock the bootloader and be on stock rom.

I'm back to being unlocked. How do i go about restoring to stock recovery??
Just download one of the stock ruu files, place it on your sd card rename it PH85IMG.zip and reboot into HBoot mode, it should restore your phone to complete stock.
What radio is on the new OTA update? Can someone who has done the update, post?

I have the same problem. I get a Main ver is old error when attempting to load the stock ruu, PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.36.531.6_Radio_1.07.550L.04DC_30.64.550L.07_release_219373_signed.zip .
There is no way to get it back to stock with HBOOT on the ICS RUU you cannot go back, I got screwed over too. Unless you got S-Off before you went to ICS, that's the only way you can go back to stock. I think, that's what someone else told me, so give it a try but otherwise I think you are screwed, but I don't really know what I'm talking about. Can anyone confirm this?

Ok, I flashed via HBOOT the same version that was on the phone, PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.43.531.3_Radio_1.08.550L.19DC_30.66.550L.08D_release_228638_signed.zip , and it seems to have accepted it, and going through the updates now.
Now, I will boot into stock, and attempt the new OTA ICS upgrade.
Will a restore work via CWM, that I took from the stock GB ROM above?
OTA ICS Upgrade = Success
I was going to pull the file off of the phone, but I started the upgrade and forgot. I could not locate it afterwards.
How did you flash via Hboot? Did you rename the file before you put it on your SD Card? Also do you have stock recovery?
finally got it
1. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled. Go to Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging.
2. Download my tool and run it. If your bootloader is unlocked (most likely it is), on my tool, press "Boot into Bootloader". After you are in bootloader, run the "Relock Bootloader" command
3. Put the Stock T-Mobile 1.43 ROM on to your SD Card. Make sure it in the root folder. Rename the file to PH85IMG. Run the command on my tool to "Boot into Bootloader" It should scan for the ROM. If it doesn't (It may be in Fastboot mode, that's why) press the power button so it switches from Fastboot into HBOOT mode.
4. It will detect it and press the Volume Up button. It will flash the Stock ROM.

Unlock your amaze again. Follow the hasoon steps and you'll be able to unlock it.
once you unlock it download this file
http://d-h.st/OIC
once that is done rename it to "PH85IMG" and then put it into your sdcard
then follow these steps
"Run the command on the hasoon tool to "Boot into Bootloader" It should scan for the ROM. If it doesn't (It may be in Fastboot mode, that's why) press the power button so it switches from Fastboot into HBOOT mode.
4. It will detect it and press the Volume Up button. It will flash the Stock ROM."
once it's done flashing you'll be on stock and then you can update the phone to ICS.
TOOK ME ALL DAY! dont worry you'll figure it out.
I have one question, how do I do it if I don't have an SD card? I rooted without one...

PLSS HELP I WANT MY PHONE BACK!!
have you tried downloading a stock rom?
download either the leak ICS stock rom or the stock gingerbread rom
rename the rom zip file to PH85IMG.zip
put the file on your microsd card and insert card into phone
relock your bootloader
boot into bootloader (vol down + power)
go into bootloader, not fastboot
stock rom should automatically install

hey, okay so my friend did the ICS stock rom, renamed it, put it on sd card, and when he put it in fastboot, or the vol down power screen, w.e its called he said it says "CID incorrect update fail"
could it be because we r renaming it to PH85IMG.ZIP? when it says PH85DIAG.ZIP?
like what does CID incorrect even mean

That's because it's a T-Mobile rom and i'm guessing your on a different carrier? You have to do the CID unlock but i beleive you have to be S-OFF to do that..

ya im on wind mobile, do u by any chance know how i enable s-off? or a link to a walk through of it? thx alot
is this it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612475 ?
To use the tmobile leaked ICS you need to either be a tmobile client, or be s-off and superCID your phone. Theres tutorials for this on the forums. If youre not tmobile, I might suggest using a stock gingerbread RUU for your carrier. Again, you should be able to find this with a quick search of the forums. From there, do as suggested above by naming it PH85IMG.zip and putting it on your sd card. The boot into the bootloader (vol down + power) and it should automatically recognize the image and update. If it doesnt recognize the image, make sure you named it appropriately in windows (no extra .zip, and I believe case is important).

according the the link i posted above
The process is very simple and exactly the same as the Sensation and most S-Off HTC devices:
1. Command prompt (or terminal for linux) and type "cd" "followed by the path to your adb folder" (windows users can type "cd C:\adb")
2. Ensure your phone is switched on (regular home screen) and connect it by USB in charging mode (Ensure usb debugging is on settings)
3. Enter the command "adb devices". This is to confirm your phone is connected. (It should come back with list of devices attached and your serial number)
4. Enter the command "adb reboot-bootloader". (nothing further required device WILL reboot in bootloader)
IF it doesn't you can Manually put the phone in the bootloader/hboot mode
Navigate to fastboot by pressing volume down and pressing power button to select (power off > vol down + power on)
It will take you to the fastboot bootloader screen on your phone
Connect your phone via USB
Your Screen should now read fastboot USB
5. Enter the command "fastboot oem writecid 11111111"
6. Enter the command "fastboot reboot-bootloader (Wait for it to reboot the bootloader)
7. Enter the command "fastboot getvar cid" [it should confirm your CID is 11111111]
8. Enter the command "fastboot reboot"
9. You can now flash any ROM you like.
problem is i cant put my phone into usb debugging mode because in order to do that i need to be able to access my home screen, which i cant since im bricked at the htc amaze screen, and r the above steps correct?

according to the "click here" link you put u gotta
1) be locked with s-off using juopunutbear's s-off method.
2) flash the eng hboot 1.90.2005
3) with s-off and the eng hboot, rename the ruu to ph85img.zip and put on root of external sd card
4) boot into bootloader and apply the update
5) once updated, reflash the eng hboot again
6) flash the cwm 5.5.0.4 recovery in fastboot (fastboot flash recovery *****.img)
7) flash the superuser package in recovery to gain root
but juopunutbear's s-off method recquires usb debugging how do i s-off if i cant enable usb debugging, since im bricked at htc screen, pls help
i was also under the impression that ext 4 touch allowed you to install roms requiring soff without the need for actually having to go s off

when you rename the file don't put the ".zip" in the name just type in "PH85IMG" its already a zip file. so adding the .zip will read "PH85IMG.zip.zip"
Hi guys,
I have rooted, S-OFF, 4EXT recovery, SuperCID, running Stock T-Mobile ICS HTC Amaze. My current configuration is
SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT 1.93.2222
Radio_1.14.550L.17DC_30.78.550L.15
I have searched "Amaze how to revert to stock" from within the forum and google as well but the answers came up so confuse and not very clear. So I dare to oen a new thread here asking for help. Somebody else might looking for the same thing.
Basically I want to go back to T-Mobile Stock Gingerbread. I have:
Hasson AllinOne V3.1,
PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.43.531.3_Radio_1.08.550L.19DC_30.66.550L.08D_release_228638_signed
How would I safely going back to stock?
I know I have to flash the PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.43.531.3 via fastboot as the last step but what step should I take first? Flash the stock bootloader first or flash the stock recovery first?
Any advice would be appriciated
Im S-on so idk if its different.
download this: http://www.filefactory.com/file/c0d...19DC_30.66.550L.08D_release_228638_signed.zip
idk if its the same one you have but just download it just in case, and RENAME IT to PH85IMG.
AFter that put it in your sd and boot into bootloader and then fastboot so it reads that file. then just click yes to the update and you are set.
^^ will that "update" revert EVERYthing back to s-on, shipped bootloader and recovery?
Will it revert the radio as well?
You might need to run the Mainver Error Fix in the all-in-one toolkit. It "spoofs your software version so you can downgrade your ROM."
Hasoon can correct me on this if I'm wrong.

Just flash the stock file you have via hboot by renaming it to PH85IMG and placing it on your sdcard.

If you're on ICS, you cannot revert to GB, so your best option would be to flash a custom recovery, 4EXT recommended and look in the dev section for Hasoon2000's thread of stock zip files, download the carrier file that's for your device and flash that via a custom recovery, since T-Mobile is the only carrier we have bootloader flashable ruu files.

I actually meant I was flashing to stock ICS. I just posted here for sake of simplicity. I have all of this ready to go already. Recovery and stock .zip. The only problem left is that the Mainver Fix in Hasoon's AIOT doesn't detect my device. I heard the fix for this is enabling USB Debugging, but I cannot do that since I get a permanent whitescreen after I boot up my device, and I've unlocked/relocked my bootloader and it reset the USB Debugging option. I feel like I'm pretty screwed at this point. Definitely not giving up, though.

Relock your devices bootloader, put the device into fastboot, get hasoon's tool ver 3.2, or whatever the latest atm is, relock/lock the bootloader command.
rename that file PH85IMG exactly like that, put it on your sdcard, not your phone memory, do not extract it or place it into any folders, reboot into bootloader, volume up to update.
Let it boot completely at least once before attempting to root/flashing a custom rom.
Going for it. Thanks for the help so far. I'll report back soon.

just get the stock RUU for your phone. Re-lock your bootloader. Rename what you downloaded to PH85IMG.zip. place it in the root directory of your external SD card. reboot your phone into HBOOT and it should automatically flash the stock recovery and ROM. this WILL wipe your phone clean. then you can unlock the bootloader, root it, flash a custom recovery then a ROM of your choice.

Unlocking the bootloader won't change your phone into s-off. So, what you see is correct.
Forget about ZergRush. It won't work, or necessary at all if you unlocked your bootloader, anyway.
Edit: I forgot to mention. Try 'adb logcat' to see if your phone even gets to the boot sequence. If you see your screen gets filled up with tons of stuff, hit control-c to stop it. Then enter adb logcat > logfile.txt to capture it. You can post it here for someone to take a look.
If you can get into bootloader and/or recovery, your phone isn't in a bad shape at all. If you can access your phone from a pc with adb or fastboot (which, you should have if you've unlocked your bootloader), there are things you can try.
1. boot your phone into recovery and see if you can access it through adb shell. Do you see a shell prompt ('$' or '#' sign)? On the phone, use the mount option to mount system and data partitions to see if they are mountable. You can use 'ls -l' on the shell prompt to look around, if you like.
2. If your phone is accessible, but not bootable, the first thing I would try is to flash a boot image. You probably have one sitting in the pc folder you used to unlock, or hanson's all-in-one tool has it.
3. If you flash a fresh boot image (kernel) and the phone still won't boot up, the next thing I would try is to restore from a nandroid backup. I'm sure you've made a backup before you started, right?
4. If the nandroid restore doesn't work, you can try flashing a stock rom like someone elese suggested. You just copy the zip file, which you download from the stock rom thread in the dev section, to the external sd card, rename it to PH85IMG.zip, and reboot your phone into the bootloader. The phone will detect the stock rom if it's there and asks you whether to install the update or not. Remember to download the correct file for your carrier.
5. If nothing works, come back here and post your result. I'm afraid your phone may have a corrupt nand memory...
I am having the problem I followed steps 1-5 of the post above.
using PH85IMG.zip in bootloader. It loades the image and checks. afterwards when it restarts it gets stuck on bootloader or HTC splash screen.

You used the wrong image, went about using that ota file incorrectly as well, Oh boy, ite, let's keep our fingers crossed on this.
You said your hboot was 1.93.0002? Correct? If you're s-on, this may or may not work, lets hope it does, since's it practically your only hope, though I wonder what your cid currently is set to.
Since you did s-off, you should know how to use adb. Shut the phone off via battery pull, boot up into hboot then go into fastboot, using adb check your cid via this command: fastboot getvar cid
Let me know what it is when you're done, we'll work from there, hopefully we can get this done.
sorry, forgot to pull sd card so it ran the PH85IMG twice,
the cid is

Cid is 11111111 and you're s-on? Lucky you, well download the mobilicity GB stock ruu exe file, reboot into fastboot and run the file to restore your phone to complete stock GB, hopefully it goes through, though I don't see why it wouldn't, if you're s-on, you'll have to relock your bootloader before doing this.
Thanks! hopefully it'll work
downloading the GB rom from

going to relock bootloader with the amaze tool.
going to change the RUU to PH85IMG then pray it works!
I'll post an update in this thread, unfortunately the rom takes about 4 hours to download from file factory

You can download the ruu from the ruu/ota thread in the same forum, the dev host upload by krook is much faster.
Do not change the name of that file, it's an exe file, you have to run it via a pc with your phone connected via usb cable in fastboot mode.
I'm rooted, s-on, unlocked, running a Gingerbread based ROM.
I would like to run stock ICS but stay rooted and unlocked.
I tried the wire trick for s-off but it is not working because [i think] I'm not running a stock ROM.
What is the best route to go from here?
I heard someone say I had to relock my bootloader in order to install ICS?
Help please.

Relock and flash the stock ruu via Hboot, you can always unlock again. Use the latest leaked ruu to upgrade to ics stock.

Thanks! I'm a bit of a newb so your instructions are not easy for me. I'm close. Please help just a bit more.
I have Hasoon2000's all in one kit so I was able to use "relock bootloader" and it worked.
What I need:
DONE: (1) URL to "stock ruu" <-- I assume you mean ICS ROM when you say that? OK I found and have this file now
HELP: (2) when you say "flash the stock ruu via hboot" <-- I'm not sure what you mean for me to do. I found some hboot zip files named 1.90.2005 and 1.93.0002. Do I copy those to the phone's mem card and then ... ? My current hboot is 1.90.2004. How do I get it up to date?
Thanks!
Phone going to black screen with green arrows
Now when I reboot the phone stops at a black screen with green circular arrows. I can get to bootloader and recovery but can't seem to get it to show me the file system so I can put the ICS RUU on the phone. Ideas?
take out the micros sd card
Take out the micro sd card, rename the file to PH85IMG.zip, put the card in a card reader and copy it to the root of the card, then put it back in your phone and go into Hboot and let it do it's thing.

Thanks for that! When you say "rename the file" <--- do you mean the new hboot zip file I have hboot_1.93.0002? Or do you mean keep my current hboot and by "the file" you mean the ICS ROM?
UPDATE: I went with my gut and copied the ICS ROM over to my card and rebooted the phone and yep, it seems to be working. Thanks for your help!
SU binary
OK now I'm up on stock T-Mobile ICS, my bootloader is locked, and s-on.
Titanium Backup tells me the SU binary is missing.
When I locked the bootloader, did I lose root?
Or is it just a matter of copying a binary to my phone?
If just copy binary, how do I find that binary?
Thanks!
You need to unlock and flash a custom recovery, then you can flash the superuser.zip and your root will be back.

OK. The phone is finally re-unlocked. I really appreciate all the help!
NOW... I need to flash 4EXT but I'm getting "device not found" from Hasoon2000's All in One Kit when I try to "Flash Recovery". Ideas?
Like can I just put "4EXT.IMG" in the root of my SDcard and then go into bootloader and somehow run that file? Not sure how it works.

Check the cable, if the probably persist, reboot into fastboot (I'm assuming you know how to do this, if not, turn your device off, hold the volume down button then press the power button, choose fastboot in the menu), once in fastboot, retry flashing the recovery via the tool.
Edit: lol I thought so but eh, we all make mistakes, have fun flashing.
Getting close...
OK so now I have unlocked the bootloader and I have 4EXT working on the phone.
NOW... how do I get the superuser file? Does anyone have a link? Trust me, I searched. When I get it, what is the process for flashing/running it?
Thanks!

Choose the perm root option in hasoon's tool, select run, it's gonna push a SuperSu.zip to your sd card, then boot you into recovery, choose install from sd card, browse down to that file, it might be all the way to the bottom, when you find it, select it to install, then reboot, voila! You're rooted.
So while trying to update to ICS my fingers were working faster than my brain (yes, it happens) and I selected a menu option while using Clockwork and, while I'm not sure, I think the option said something like, "format .. OS...something..." before I could fully read it (and stop my finger from pressing the power button), I pressed the power button.
The phone rebooted, got to the white HTC screen and stopped - stuck on the white HTC screen. I pulled the battery.
I Held down power and up-volume and got to the bootloader menu, selected recovery and Clockwork came up.
Couldn't "Recover" because it couldn't mount the SD card.
Couldn't mount the external SD card either.
Ok - tried a factory reset - Rebooted - up came the white HTC screen where it stays until I pull the battery.
I'm new at this (probably didn't need to say that, but...).
How Do I get past this point?
Is this phone agonner?
How do I load (anything) to the phone at this point?
Thanks in advance! I appreciate it.

If it powers on, you're not bricked.
Are s-on or s-off?
Make sure you have a card reader for the following.
The best thing for you to do would probably to flash an RUU.
First, download the latest RUU.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/
If you are s-on with unlocked boot loader, relock it:
Make sure there is no PH98IMG.ZIP on your sdcard. Delete if there is one.
Power off phone completely with battery pull.
Plug in phone to computer with USB.
Go to the bootloader menu with vol down + power.
Select fastboot.
On your computer, run the following fastboot command (do whatever you needed to do to use fastboot):
fastboot oem lock
After that is done, time to install the RUU.
Find the RUU you downloaded and put it on your sdcard, then rename to PH98IMG.ZIP
Put sdcard back, then power on to bootloader.
It should now scan for the PH98IMG and then ask you to install it.
Follow all the instructions to install it.
After you finish this, you will be back to the stock ROM with a locked boot loader.
If either s-off or s-on locked bootloader
Sent from my HTC Rezound using Tapatalk 2
Rezound still major messed up
THANK YOU for your help, I really appreciate your response. I followed your instructions and once the PH98IMG.zip file was on the SD card I loaded bootloader and it did scan for the file, but said "no file or wrong file!" Well, the file is there so I know its not "no" file. I've tried a couple of different PH98IMG files that I found on XDA but I guess the specific file wasn't the problem.
After it gives the error message it simple goes back to the bootloader and waits.
Unlocking the bootloader and then following your instructions did result in the file being seen and, what appeared to be, the installation process beginning - however when the phone reboots for the first time it just goes quiet and never comes back up. I waited for at least 20 minutes before I decided it wasn't just a long boot process.
I"m pretty sure there is NOTHING on this phone. I've verified there's nothing on the SD card besides the PH98IMG.zip file. Assuming I've completely wiped out the OS (and it is not on the phone) is the method you've outlined the right starting point?
Thanks again, and Merry Christmas

If you are S-on and have an unlocked bootloader, you will need to relock it before attempting to flash an ruu. Once re-locked, ensure that the PH98IMG is not a zip file within a zip file which is how they are usually uploaded. Attempt to unzip the files until it will not unzip anymore. That file that won't unzip needs to be the one you rename as PH98IMG and placed on the root of your SD card. Reboot to bootloader and allow it to scan. It will ask you if you wish to proceed and you will allow it. After some time it will reboot back to bootloader to flash radios and the rest of firmware. After that process and a 2nd reboot you should he back to stock, locked, and unrooted.

zip file contents?
Maybe I should ask what the contents of the .zip file should be? I did check the zip to make sure it wasn't a double-zip. There were two versions of the PH98IMG file i tried. One had the file (imagemate-3.60.exe) the other had the file(s) (boot.img and android-info.txt).
I did "relock" the bootloader prior to trying and it would not recognize the file. When it was unlocked it would see it, start the install process, then go quiet. So that at least tells us that the file is there and likely workable.
I can't seem to get past the "No image or wrong image" message. I've tried on 3 different cards (the original and two fresh cards) and I've checked to ensure the zip is not a zip within a zip.

You should download that file from Android Police. It should have a 'bunch' of files in it. I"m not familiar with imagemate-3.60.exe but boot.img is just the kernel. Rename the file that you download to PH98img, (as previously stated) put it on a good SD card and boot into bootloader. It should go.
How about telling us if you are s-on or s-off. I don't see where you've answered that question. Also, if it doesn't work, tell us what your bootloader screen says. That will give us some info to help you.
Merry Christmas....I've got to go to bed before Santa shows up.:laugh:
EDIT: I just downloaded the Android Police file and as I said, it has a lot of files in it. I'm not sure what you were playing with but i likely the cause of you problem. Get the right file, name it ph98img.zip, put on root of SD, boot into bootloader (you're locked, right) and let it do its thing. good luck.

One thing you need to know is that a PH98IMG file can be many things. It is only the name of a file that your phone looks for to use when booted into hboot. So it can be a kernel, an entire RUU (OS), a custom recovery or ROM... basically anything. It just means that item was packed into a PH98IMG file in order to run automatically off your SD card when the phone boots.
So you need to know what the PH98IMG file is that you are using or you might flash something you don't want that can possibly cause your phone to not work properly. In your examples above one is a kernel (boot.img) and I have no idea what imagemate-3.60.exe is. It sounds like you have not had the correct file.
Here is the global RUU you should run to get you back to stock with all the latest radios and firmware:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/
You need to be locked to run it so if you are S-ON, which it sounds like you are (don't remember if you mentioned that before), you need to use fastboot from your pc to do that, just like you did when you unlocked it with this command:
fastboot oem lock
***If you are S-OFF you should be locked again from that process already. But if you are S-OFF then confirm with someone to be sure it's safe to run the RUU, there's something about not relocking if you are on a certain hboot or you can brick it or something...***
Then put the RUU on your SD card and reboot the phone. Let it run through the RUU a few times because apparently it needs to do it a few times to get all the system files. Afterwards, if you want to root again and flash a custom ROM you will need to unlock again and flash a custom recovery and reroot.
It Works!
Not that I'm going to give you all the credit, because everyone kinda chipped in - however you DID provide the ONLY correct link to exactly what I needed! LORDY there are a lot of bad links being passed around. THANK YOU Ms. Feralicious, I totally appreciate your help.
... Everyone else as well - very generous with your knowledge and time and I will always love you.
Merry Christmas! Have a safe new year as well!

Try putting the PH98IMG.ZIP on your sdcard manually.

Not sure what you're trying to do there, run an RUU?
Did you try a factory reset from the settings of the phone as Neo suggested?
Settings > Storage > Factory data reset
But back up anything you want to save such as pics, settings, etc... it will wipe everything.
same thing happens...

Have PH98IMG.zip on sd card.
Gets this far...
*** LOCKED ***
VIGOR PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.11.0000
eMMC-boot
HBOOT
Parsing...[SD ZIP]
[1]...
...[18]
...start update?
<VOL UP>
Next to "[1] BOOTLOADER" "- Fail-PU"
And below [18]..., "Partition update fail!"
"Update Fail!"
"Press <POWER> to reboot."
It's an HTC Rezound I'm trying to get back to stock, Verizon.
Any ideas?

You still needing help?
Where did you get the PH...img file you are using? Are you sure it's an RUU?
Did you ever try resetting to factory settings within the phone? You don't need to RUU for that, check a few posts up on where to find the setting.
