On CM9 Unofficial but lost LTE on Rogers Network help please - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hey guys,
I'm absolutely loving the new CM9 unofficial that has been posted and everything has been running great except for the fact that I have lost LTE capabilities on my Rogers network. This is the first rom (ICS or GB) that I have been unable to use LTE. I am running the new I717UCLE2 Modem hoping that would have fixed it but it has not. Even the previous UCLD3 modem on this CM9 rom specifically stopped my LTE. HSPA is working fine which I thought pointed to missing APN settings or the like but I have tried inputting Rogers LTE settings manually without any luck. Maybe I am just putting the wrong information in? Can someone on Rogers confirm that they have their LTE working on the new CM9 rom and post their LTE apn settings as well. Thanks a lot guys
EDIT: Never mind, a little bit of further tinkering with the APNs on my end seems to have fixed it . My settings are as follows for anyone that may have similar problems:
NAME: Rogers LTE
APN: ltemobile.apn
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com

MNC: 720
Authentication type: Not set
APN type: default,supl,mms

Thanks for the info: I actually have the Telus version of the i717 but I'm wondering how you are liking CM9 unofficial and how stable it is.
Also, if you have a link to rooting the i717 please post it

Seconded ^^^^^^
I'm running stock Telus i717 and am pretty much too scared to delve into flashing my note. Also running a mac and am yet to find a decent tutorial for mac flashing android.

I have the i717 with Rogers and noticed with CM9 ROMS that I lose the LTE APN, whereas with any UCLE2 ROM, the LTE APN is detected. Instead, 5 3G/4G (I presume) APNS are loaded. I assume you probably had the same.
Which ones did you delete/edit to get LTE Working? and does the connection meter actually show 4G LTE?

[Q] Net 10/JB Radios

I have an att&t lgog and the other day my service was cancelled. I took a trip to radio shack and got the net 10 $50/month unlimited plan, had them activate it with the included microsim, and I'm good to go now. my only question is about the modems we have available. my data connection drops every so often now and sometimes web pages in chrome hang and require a refresh to load up. being on net 10, which I'm pretty sure still uses at&t towers(?) am I able to use any att radios we have?
I'm also using Net10 on my Optimus. I've had no problems in 3 months, regardless of ROM or radio (Stock ICS, Stock JB, and AOKP). I'd check your APN settings.
Here are mine:
Code:
APN: tfdata
Proxy: none
Port: none
Username: none
Password: none
MMSC: http(colon)//mms-tf(dot)net
MMS proxy: mms3(dot)tracfone(dot)com
Sent from my Optimus G using xda app-developers app

do you have anything set for MMS port, mcc, MNC, or APN type? I have 80 for the port, 310 and 410 for MCC and MNC respectively, and my APN type has default, admin, fota, MMS, supl, hipri. no idea what they do I'm afraid to admit but there they are. thanks a lot for the reply, I'm happy to know I can use whichever radio I want cause I keep dropping data connection since going to net10. not sure if its my radio or APN though

well I got the MMS fixed. only problem now is dropping data connection which I'm guessing could be my radio. and right now on houstonns rootbox, I was on the unofficial liquid smooth before that with same issue.

LTE on Straight Talk

I was wondering if anyone was using their Z2 on Straight Talk's T-Mobile network. That's what I'm using on mine (just got it today) and I can't seem to get LTE on it, only HSPA+. I've made sure to enable LTE and I've changed the APN settings to:
Name: Straight Talk
APN: wap.tracfone
Port: 8080
MMSC: http://mms.tracfone.com
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: default,mms,supl,admin,hipri
APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
I know I've got LTE access where I am since I got it on my HTC One but I can't seem to get this. Thanks.
And of course I've been trying to figure this out for an hour and the second I click submit on this thread LTE pops up out of nowhere.

[Q] S5. Switched from verizon to tmobile. Questions

Hi;
I just switched to tmobile from verizon.
Using my verizon galaxy S5. Unrooted
1 )I have seen this setting in this forum for APN:
APN Type should be default,mms/supl,dun
My store set mine without the "dun" at the end of the string. Will/what difference would this make?
2) Is there any way to activate the wifi calling feature on my phone or is it a hardware change?
3) I used to use Foxfi for hot spot tethering with no limits. Is there a way to activate it to work on tmobile?
Thank you.
T-Mobile and AT&T utilize the GSM technology while Verizon and Sprint use the CDMA technology. Their respective devices are also different in hardware. So as far as I know you won't be able to use your CDMA phone on a GSM network. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please!
My S5 is working on tmob.

Ok! This is news for me. Does it say SM-G900V on the sticker under the battery?
Here is SM-G900T T-Mobile galaxy s5 APN settings:
Name: T-Mobile US LTE
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: <Not set>

Username: <Not set>

Yes.
900V
For what its worth, Verizon devices (not all of them, just some. Its hit or miss depending on the device) for some reason, tend to have GSM radios in them in addition to the CDMA ones. I remember though that the Verizon devices wouldn't work on T-Mobile 4G (HSPA+) due to the 1700 MHZ band. But I believe the refarming of the towers made all 4G (HSPA+) go to 1900MHZ, which the Verizon module supports. So that is why its working.
I forget what "dun" means in the APN setting. As you can see, commodor doesn't have it, mine does. Does it make a difference, prolly a very slight, specific scenario difference. Quick search shows that "dun" stands for Dial-Up Networking. I hated Dial-Up so I wouldn't worry that your's doesn't have that specified
To get WiFi calling, you would need to flash a T-Mobile ROM, note, I said ROM, NOT kernel. I believe all the WiFi calling stuff is in the ROM and lib files. So a ROM might work. I don't think flashing the kernel from T-Mobile would harm the device, if they weren't compatible, you would just get a non-booting device. It would stay at the samsung screen. Which all you'd have to do to fix is flash a VZW S5 kernel.
There are many methods to make Tethering work, many require root. I don't think tethering is possible without root. Also, with these methods, it will still use your data, whether its a tiered plan or not, you will still accumulate data usage.
Thank you.

T Mobile: No Data or MMS?

EDIT: Problem has been fixed, see below for the working APN Settings. The root of the problem appeared to be that I had 2 Sim Cards in the phone and the data connection was defaulting to the wrong one for some reason.
I have been unable to get data or MMS working on a new Honor 5X which I have installed Cyanogenmod 13 on. Have been all over T-Mobiles website and have even talked to them on the phone. They were unwilling to help because my phone was purchased unlocked instead of from their network. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think there is a problem with custom roms on using MMS /data. I use Straight Talk on At&T network and with right APN settings, I only get mms and no data for gapps like play store and maps. So if you want to keep using CM13 switch to using 3G mode (it works for me, i get data +mms, everything works great except slower internet speeds). Or return to Stock ROM. I am using Stock ROM since last week (B331) and I am getting data+mms on 4G with the same straight talk apn settings.

Thanks for the response. As much as I need the phone to work with data and MMS, the stock operating system is so inferior to Cyanogenmod that I will not return just yet. The Honor 5x is a fairly popular unlocked phone and I know there are plenty of people using it on T Mobile so I am really hoping somebody in the same boat as me can explain what they did to get it working.

Is there a reason why you're not using a nougat rom?
Just curious
I just had the same issue and I reflashed it and all is good. I tried lineages and found it slow. Cm13 is great

Completely fair question, the phone is for my father who does not know anything about modded operating systems so I needed something that wasn't going to be updated with nightlies all the time.

Was this really all you had to do to fix it? Can you tell me exactly what CM13 build you are running successfully with data and MMS on the honor 5X? And are you on T-Mobile as well? It seems their network seems to be why we can't get the data working...

Ah, makes sense haha :good:
I do have to say though, nougat is def worth switching to and it's already pretty stable (although ofc is getting updated frequently). I think los13 is not maintained anymore although maybe that stability is what you're looking for.
Every nougat rom (well the ones I've tried which is quite a few) has been much smoother than marshmallow too so that's a plus
Sorry, off topic
I would suggest a clean flash of the latest update if you want to stay with marshmallow (and if the issue isn't with the apn settings). But since I'm not on tmobile, I can't suggest specifics unfortunately
I did a full wipe of the system and flashed the last cm13 build. I'm on att but had the same issues. The APN settings were fine and no data.

This is where I think the issue is, I have not been able to find anyone who can confirm with me that I am using the right APN settings for my device and carrier. T-Mobile wouldn't tell me either because the phone is unlocked and was not bought through them
I would try a reflash but the phone is with my father who lives in different country so that isn't an option right now unfortunately.
Thanks for the help regardless.

Yeah I would like to try LineageOS but I have had nightlies from CM13 soft brick my phone twice (I use an Asus Zenfone) so I just don't trust weekly builds any more. Like I said to the other poster here, I would try a reflash but can't right now due to the location of the phone I guess my dad will just have to deal with no data or MMS for now.
Try los 14.1 now

No LTE, poor signal strength....

Hey guys...
I've been using a rooted G965F UAE S9+ on ATT prepaid... I've been having issues with poor signal strength. I upgraded from the stock nougat to pie g965fxxu4cse3, baseband 965fxxu4cse1 but this didn't help... I thought it was the service provider since I moved from Philadelphia to Mobile, AL, so I switched to tmobile and this helped a bit but I still have problems. I went to the tmobile store and they told me that my device is unidentified on their network and showing that I get 2g, while other Samsung devices (s10) in the store have full bars and lte. I feel like I had the same issues with my S7 edge duos... My question is, does the international phone that I have use weaker signal strength? Do I have the wrong baseband version? Any other ideas on how I can identify and fix the problem? I like using a rooted device so I'm not going to switch to an American version and I really don't like the other phones out there in comparison so any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.

I was hoping I could flash the baseband for the g965u1 variant but it didn't work.... ODIN froze at "verifying file."
The APN looks good. Might be a baseband issue. Someone with deeper flashing experience than me might need to chime in here.
