Troll time.
To check if your ace has gorilla glass u need:
-a gt 5830 (l,i,t,etc)
-a 200 kg real life gorilla
Give the phone to the ape and see if it breaks.

scratch?
Gorilla glass is not a scratch resistant, it is made for other aspects. At least I guess so, due to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcmZW5IvK4U
So don't think that you Ace has or has not Gorilla glass because of scratches..

it is.
scratch resistant means its more tolerate to scratch than ordinary glass, it wont scratch as easily as regular glass, but it doesnt means it wont scratch at all.
in the other hand, nothing is scratch proof, even diamonds which is among hardest substance on earth is prone to scratches or chirps

I don't get why people complain. Gorilla glass does not mean indestructable. If you drop you phone on concrete and it lands a certain way it may break. Stop dropping your phone is the best solution imo.

the more scratch resistant something is (gorilla glass) the more brittle it is (easier to crack).

Nope.
1) There's no direct correlation between brittle and hard. An advanced material, like Gorilla Glass, *may* be harder and less brittle at the same time compared to regular glass.
2) If I remember correctly, all Gorilla Glass demonstrations of the past involved smashing a small piece with a hammer. Gorilla Glass is definitely less brittle than regular glass.
Again, we do not have gorilla glass

Meanwhile, the weight and size are unusual in part because of its large multi-touch screen with a size reaches 4.3 inches diagonally and getting the same HTC Sensation resolution (540 x 960 pixels). This display is for displaying images in three dimensions without requiring the user to buy special glasses separately, in addition to the glass used is Gorilla Glass, a material highly resistant to both scratches and bump

Why would you state that?
Do you really think after the EVO 4g and EVO Shift they would just stop using gorilla glass on the EVO line?

Unless of course corning is lying for some odd reason.

+1 no one said it was gorilla glass. What I read was it is HTC version of a gorilla type of glass, but not "gorilla glass".

If it only dropped 2ft. How on earth are there 3 impact spots on the screen? Did you drop it on a bed of spikes?
I call bull****, I think you hit it a few times with something. It doesn't look right for a single drip from 2ft.

Glass would be brittle. It is just the nature of ceramic materials.
In this test you talking about. Was the glass suspended by two support point with the impact load being in the middle? Or was the middle slowly being pushed down?
these mobile glass test should be done horizontally normal to a side or corner. to imitate a fall. A normal load from the surface test is for test people punching their phones or a stressful push.
Would anyone here know the density of our screen? Maybe it is the same as the corning glass but from a different manufacture.

[Q] Gorilla Glass?

Hi,
Does Samsung Galaxy Ace has Gorilla Glass.? On corning site they have mentioned it has Gorilla Glass, but anyone here can confirm it. Have any users scratched their screen? or any other experiences to share? Any using a scratch guard?
I got quite a few little scratches, not a big problem, but for me "scratch-resistant" is something else
i have a very tiny scratch about 0.5cm on my screen and i am not using any screen protector. Got to find one soon.
I suggest to use an anti-fingermark screen protector for SGA.
Yes, it has. Watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zv4Llv3UedY
One of mine has deep scratches. So I dont belive its gorillaglass or else gorillaglass is not so different
Yes it does. Check Gsmarena.com if you want to confirm.
Yes it's gorilla glass. My phone has no protection and for over a month with my keys and pens inside my bag, it still has no scratch.

Why make a new thread about something so stupid. Also, the GG2 on this phone SUCKS, it or at least the coating of it gets scratched very easily, already have a tone of scratches from being in my pocket.

The reason that Gorilla Glass 2 scratches more easily than the original is most likely because it is designed to not shatter as easily. In order to reduce the possibly of shattering the glass on impact you sacrifice the 'scratch-proof-ness' of the glass.
After saying that, I have noticed that the SGS3 shattered in the drop test. I'm not sure if the test I was watching is the same as you saw, however the one I saw had the handset drop on it's corner. No matter what glass you put on a phone if you drop it from that height on cement and it lands on the corner it will shatter. Since the surface area is reduced the impact is alot more focussed. From memory the iPhone that it was being compared to landed on its side.
Hope this help

You realize that scratch proof does not mean shatter proof?

Anyone scratch their screen yet?

Well I have. Don't know how but I have a quarter inch hairline scratch in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Just enough to piss me off.
My buddy made a good point, thought gorilla glass was scratch proof?

Gorilla glass is scratch "resistant" not scratch proof. Sand seems to scratch gorilla glass easily.

That's what I said. Haven't been around any sand and I'm pretty picky about what goes in my pockets. Phone is always by itself. Oh well, just ranting/venting. Lol. Anyone know of a good way to reduce a scratches visibility without a screen protector?

Just the back cover. Starts from headphone jack and goes about 3 inches dianglely. It's weird thought. It's compact at headphone jack and spreads apart to the end. Four scratches. Not sure how that happened. My screen protector is all scratched up. Def won't by these screen protectors again. Got at sprint. Don't remember the name but white package of 3. Advise don't get. Easily scratched

Well I was going to let my device be "naked" for a couple of days but now I guess I'll just order my screen protector :/
Screen protector and a few different cases on the way, until then I'm carrying this thing around like it's fine china, wrapped in a cleaning cloth whenever it's in my purse. lol
Unfortunately I just can't bring myself to use a screen protector. Never have. I did buy a case this time around. Gonna try again cause I don't like those either.

Use Zagg HD from bestbuy, it feels almost like glass to the touch.
Or try out SGP ultra clear protectors...also have the close to glass feel! You can't tell there's a screen protector, but your screen is definitely being protected! Great investment
Just got my SGP Ultra Clear Nano screen protectors in today, couldn't be happier with them.

Me either. Don't like protectors or cases. Had Gorilla glass on the S1&2 and didn't scratch them so I think I'll keep that tradition alive. Just stays by itself in the pocket. But with the gloss plastic on the S3, I opted for a Cruiserlite case.

I would suggest to use a scratch guard.. nowadays they don't effect touch sensitivity..
Im saying this cos I even managed to scratch gorilla glass too when I dropped it!
So just to be on the safe side.. use a scratch guard.. also I agree with klaud004, all glasses today are scratch resistant!
Nowadays most definitely scratch guards do not affect the sensitivity and with note 3 neo you can increase the sensitivity in the menu itself.
