Help! Advice Needed re: Tab! - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey All---i'm *this* close to pulling the trigger and getting one of these off craigslist.
Just wondering if anyone can either let me know or point me in the direction of a bugs list / known problems with ICS on the Tab.
I'm looking first and foremost for a 10in aokp tablet...i don't really care as much which tablet I get.
I know at one point hardware acceleration wasn't working; is that still the case?
Thanks!

No camera with the current ics roms. You can do overclocking with pershoot's kernel and setcpu.

[Q] Is CM7 Ready Yet?

Hey guys,
I'm no babby to installing beta software or flashing or any of this business. However, I'm just wondering if CM7 is ready for so-called "prime time" on the Atrix yet. I don't really care about the fingerprint sensor or webtop at all. Sans those two things how is everything else working on there these days? How is battery life and overall system stability?

From my experience its great. Battery life is identical to a blur rom, and performance is very good. Also no stability issues that I've seen.
It's my daily driver. Best experience on the Atrix yet for me. Battery life is great. I usually get through the whole day. now that it's merged it should just get better and better. I'd suggest it.

Just do it.... it's technically out of beta now.
Only things that don't work:
- Finger Print Scanner
- Webtop
- Horizontal HDMI Mirroring
- Dock Audio
As far as battery goes, that's pretty much subjective from user to user... also depends with kernel you decide to run... if you want good battery life on CM7, might want to try Faux's enhanced stock kernel & add some undervolting.
When you say, dock audio, does this just mean the audio cable that splits off of the power cable doesn't work? Does Bluetooth audio still works when it's the car dock?

Might want to ask that in the CM7 thread.

This CM7 is pretty beastie so far. Great battery. Faux's 1.45ghz kernel. Stock I used to have to charge about 9pm @ 25%. Nowits still about 45%. Of course your mileage may vary......

Thanks guys. I went ahead and flashed it and loving it so far!
I'm glad you flashed it! I was really hesitant to leave the safe, stable world of deblurred roms and venture into fingerprint-scanner-less world of CM7. However, with it out of Beta I finally took the plunge and it opened up a whole new world to me. Now having taken the red pill, I can never go back.
CM7 is without a doubt the most powerful rom available. It is so good that it makes me hesitation regarding lack of fingerprint scanner silly.

thanks master of google
I flashed the new version and i dont know what is happening but mine is too slow to scroll apps, change screen, etc. Does anyone here is happening samething?
I'm using CM7 and am blown away by the speed, features, and how clean it is.
There naturally are quirks, as its still in beta. The only major issue I've had is lack of ability to control permissions.

I had similar issues. I think they're related to the cooked in ADW Launcher. I just replaced it with Launcher Pro, and my homescreen and app drawer scroll smoothly and quickly.
As much as I love CyanogenMod its a no go for me.
The only reason I use the Atrix 4G and consider it a superb smartphone is because on Webtop and Fingerprint Scanner. Whitout those two key things, I might have moved to something else like the SGS2.
Too bad those features are not priorities for CyanogenMod devs I presume.
Cheers

Not to sound abrasive, but it has nothing to do with priorities. You should read up on what they are facing with those two things.
And for the record, about that sgs2...

Awesome scores!
But unfortunately that doesn't help with Webtop and Fingerprint Scanner problem... :/
But I'm glad to see those scores nonetheless!
Thank you for sharing that!
Cheers!

Why don't you use Aura or Alien or any of the other custom ROMs that DO have those features? They're still way faster and leaner than the stock moto builds.

[Q] Overclock - Undervolt 2.3.4?

I'm trying not to sound like a noob unable to use the search button, but I have been looking for the answer to this and can't find a solid result.
Is there any way to overclock / undervolt on 2.3.4? Or has the source kernel not been released yet?
I am currently running Infected Rom 1.4.2 if that makes any difference, i'd really like some way to overclock and/or undervolt when I please
Thank's to whoever responds without a smart ass comment!
(Unlocked through HTC method w/ cwm recovery.)
Still wondering about this honestly, sorry for the random bump here.
I'd really like to know about this, thank you!
It depends on your kernel. If your running Infected I suggest reading through that thread and seeing what, if any, alternate kernels play nice with that rom. I don't know offhand as I haven't used that rom.

Under and over clocking the tablet.

Gday guys, just a question to any one really, has anyone fiddled, played or even dabbled with messing around with the CPU settings using a program like setcpu, out even the cm7 built in setting??
Cheers Steve

Work on an overclocking kernel was one of the items in the CM7 thread. Hopefully , on of the things currently under development.

[Q] Optimal ROM with working Camera

It's been a while since I've flashed anything other than CM9 to my tablet. Before that I hadn't flashed anything. I'm giving it to a family member and I would like for the camera to work. Seems everyone is either on CM9 or AOKP. What's the most optimized ROM I can get on here with a working camera?
In my opinion, the absolute best ROM with a working camera is the task14 full rom with pershoot's oc kernel. My tab is snappy, and very stable.

links to what you have installed please. I've noticed the latest kernels are all for cm9.
Oh yeah... Any special process coming from CM9?
Another vote for Task. Find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340064
I had some weird problems with task 14 so I switched to overcome and liked it til the force of nature demanded that I flash AOKP!
Sent from my MoPho
you won't see a camera on ICS until its officially released.........
Yesterday I flashed the task rom and pershoot kernel. My Tab is very stable now, way better than Samsung stock. And, like you, I need the camera so ICS is not an option right now.
Thank you for the replies. Much appreciated.

Questions go in the Q&A section
Since you haven't mentioned your GTab's version, I think if yours is the 3G version, the best custom ROM is the Overcome 2.3.1 for now. I've tried it combined with the v6 Superchqrger script. But some also mentioned Bindroid is also nice. Maybe I'll try that later.

How stable is CM9

hey guys, Steve here.
Just wanted a users view of how stable cm9 is for the nook 16GB.
What works, and do you prefer it over cm7.
Thanks guys, looking forward to hearing your replies.

Extremely stable on the 2.x kernel, though no hardware acceleration (HD movies, netflix, HD youtube, high end games).
But to best gauge if its right for you, test it out. You can always restore a backup or flash a different rom if it isn't quite ready for you.
Cheers for the quick response.
How does it compare to CM7 in terms of speed, battery life etc.
Thanks

I'd say both speed and battery life are about the same between CM7 and CM9. However, ICS just feels so much nicer and smoother. I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot.
The cm9 is very stable, but because it's 30day "time limited" I still use cm7, for daily use, with the ICS themes. Once cm9 gets finalized with the 3.x kernel, I think it will be a beauty .
