What is the notification light on this phone as it pertains to color and frequency blinking? I have an xda custom app from my old evo that would change colors of light and speed/frequency of blinking light. Will that app work with this phone??
Thanks,
Ian B
Please post questions to the Q&A area and create only one thread for them.
I'm sure it has a standard green and amber light. I have no clue about the frequency tho. I'm pretty sure the app would work tho
Don't quote me on that

The EVO 4G LTE does not have a 2nd notification LED like the OG EVO. SO if you are using the app that utilizes the unused WiMAx/2nd LED on the OG EVO, it won't do squat on the EVO 4G LTE (just like it doesn't do anything on the EVO 3D).
Colors?
Can anyone tell me if this is only a green LED, if it does green and amber like the original Evo, or if it handles many more colors like many other phones?
I'd love to hear that it supports many colors. Please let me know. Thanks!
Sorry to disappoint. Green and amber only.
Edit - I guess I cannot be 100% sure about that. I have only ever seen green and amber and any app that supposedly customizes notifications (none I tried worked) has not shown me any other color.

Dang! What a shame. I really like that feature. Oh well. Thanks for the info!
I think I was wrong. Based on the media link HD reviews I have read our phone (if it is the same as the One X) has a blue/red light in the middle of the grill. it is designed as a status for the media link device. I suppose once devs figure out how to hack it then it could maybe be used like the EVO Classic wimax light was used. I suppose it require the kernel source or something. Not sure. Hopefully the EVO LTE has it like the One X does.
Great! Thanks for the update. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but it's nice that there's a bit of hope. I don't own the phone yet, but plan to get it soon. I'm just doing my research. It's a feature I heard about for Android phones and then was disappointed when I learned that the original Evo couldn't do more than amber and green (and maybe red). Thanks again!
I can't wait for them the guru's to get this working!

I'm a massive fan of LED's
I was wondering if there was anyway of changing the Hero's trackball LED colour? I know there are appstore apps that claim to change the LED colour, but i've had no luck with them...

There seem to be some apps who can change the led color, but those don't change the trackball but the real led light (the one blinking when you're battery is low)
I can only get the LED to flash either red or green. I'm thinking it will only do those colours. Anybody else made it flash blue?
In theory it can do all the colours the dream can.
But because we've only just got the kernal for the hero, hardware control is taking some time to cook up.

Will the eris have a Rom or something that supports color led like the n1
-------------------------------------
Droid Eris
Plainjane1 with ota 2.1
and evil Eris 2.0.1
white widow 4.0+ does but it dosen't work with all of the colors
How do get white widow 4.0

Droid Eris

do you mean your trackerball led? if thats the case, the trackerball led is only once color..
the message indication light only works with a handful of colors...
whitewidow rom requires you to root..
you should go to this page and read the how-to's...
the only real way you can ghange the color of the light in the trackball is to go in and desolder and solder a new led onto the circuit, but even then it will still only be one color. the message indicator lights are 2 leds, one orange, one green, you can also change these, but again, it will stay whatever color led out solder in their place.
I usually do it to all my gadgets, all the DS's that I've owned, my 360, the disc slot on my wii, lots lots more. I haven't done it to the eris yet though, I'm expecting to give it to my sister when I upgrade to my next phone, so I'm trying not to customize it.
Ok I've tried to search white widow on Google to get the Rom but can't find it can some one give me website or something so I can download it

after the thread debacle on here, andrizoid moved to using google wave. then, some jerk offs from here came in and started to edit all the posts and generally just try and eff over the wave thread. so andrizoid finally just made his own website...
...which is now gone. I've been trying to get in touch with him for some time now, but he wont respond, everyone who was a fan has been kinda left in the dust on this one. I do have ww 4.3 (the most current before he pulled down his site) but trust me.
it does NOT change the color of ANY LEDS. I have already made quite clear what the leds can and cannot do.

Will it make my farts appear to have been loosed by my puppy? Or vice-versa? Because I'd really like an app for that!
And if it can make my farts change color that would be a plus!!!
On my Galaxy S and Nexus S the mod I most appreciated was Backlight Notification (BLN) to use the LEDs for missed call/text notifications.
Does anybody know how possible such a mod is for the SGS2? It took a long time to appear on the Nexus S scene - is it likely to be just as tricky for the SGS2?
BLN would be great. Going to use Noled for now I guess.
definately possible since neldar released the version for older sgs gingerbread today..
I started a thread about a bounty for this. I don't think there is much interest. Which is crazy. Not having a notification led really sucks.
I would really like this too, maybe since the phone hasn't been out long it'll take a bit of time to get this on the radar for development. Especially as it still hasn't been released in some countries yet.
I came from an HTC hero, so this hasn't been an issue previously, and it took a bit of searching to find out that BLN had existed for previous galaxy phones.

I'll be chipping something in to this bounty
Good news - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14679659&postcount=510
Excellent! Neldar's BLN is definitely sorely missed on the i9100.

Can someone explain the advantage of this over NoLED?
I too came from a Hero and have been happier with NoLED than a single LED notification. There are already tons of options to setup NoLED however you want. I can't imagine a mod being any better...
No led is useless to me since I dont use a lock screen, hate em. Does the bln version work without one? I read for 20 minutes in the link without figuring that out.
This is the mod I am most looking forward too
so any news about the BLN application for Galaxy S II ?
Yes, same here. Eagerly waiting for BLN to support the I9100. But isn't there any other app in the market? As our phone has in built key light it shouldn't be very hard to make an app I guess.
Regards.

Lets hope its soon! I'm very excited for this mod.
I'm also looking VERY much forward to this mod, since I'm coming from an HTC phone (Hero) where this is standard.
This would make the SGS2 perfect! ATM it's only almost perfect
Would also happily add to the bounty
im also looking forward to this mod. can't believe a notification LED wasnt built in.. must have just forgot?
I will definitely donate for this!!
yes, this and the lock screen delay issue is the only thing holding this wonderful phone back.
Does BLN control Pro v0.11.10 work on SGS II??
I justed noticed yesterday that if you are in a call and get out of the Dialer app, the notifications bar starts glowing green until the call ends. It freaked me out at first, I thought I was getting major light leakage, but then I figured it was just an indicator that I still had a call in progress. Cool feature.
It also goes green (for a second) when you fling-scroll (scroll quickly) to the top of your contacts list, your apps list, and many other screens.
Yep, it does this to remind you that you are still on a call...There are other neat features as well...
My EVO 4G did this too..Maybe u didnt have the 4G since u seem surprised

Yup it was feature when sense 2.0 came out, which is something that iPhone had already just a bit different
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d

I had an ogevo, but I was rooted with CM7...so I didn't have that feature.
Its a sense 3.0 thing, I also noticed this when I was running it on my evo 4g back in the day.
Was wondering if I could get a mod similar to this that would allow me to use my soft key lights for notifications.

Perdon me but I have to ask why do you want this implemented?
The SGS does not have a dedicated notification led but the Atrix does have one and works really well. Specially when used with Light Flow app.
Cheers!

I could honestly see why somebody would still want this.
I became too used to leaving my phone on my desk (say for instance I wanted to leave it on the charger) and easily see if I have a message across the room if I became tied up with something else.
IMHO I'm a bigger fan of BLN, than any other notification light that I've ever used on ANY phone.
With that said, no dev is probably gonna waste time porting it over with a default LED already on board...
