I have been thus far unable to see my pc in the AllShare "Remote Device" pane.
I've been on several sites looking for help but have come up empty handed. Anyone else had this problem?
My set up:
Windows 7
BT Home Hub 3
Galaxy S2
What I've done so far:
Enable Homegroup
In Windows Mdeia Player selected Stream > Automatically Allow Devices To Play My Media
Ensured that all of the Libraries I wish to share are set up correctly (they are as I can stream to my XBox360 no problem)
I open up AllShare, select "Remote Device" it scans and finds nothing.
I'm sure I'm being a complete 'tard, but cannot for the life of me figure out what I've done wrong!
Any ideas, folks?
From what I have seen so far on youtube I was under the impression that allshare is supposed to work the other way around - send for example a video stream from the phone to a TV or other dlna enabled device. I am not sure if it works from PC to the phone.
Got it figured, I did everything correctly except wait!
The Home Hub is on the ground floor and I'm on the top, with 5 other devices connected to the router. It was taking a minute or two to discover my pc, then a further minute each level of directory down.
I've rebooted the Home Hub and it has improved markedly, although the types of file that will stream over to the device are somewhat restricted; avi's play fine, mkv and mpeg will not play. Music seems fine.
Tried to send some video to my XBox but was unsuccessful, may not be enough bandwidth I guess...
Do you know what codecs it supports? I'm running Orb on my Mac Mini and trying to stream so AVIs but it's not playing ball...

did you remember to put the xbox into media centre mode first, before trying to send video?
I am having issues streaming movies wirelessly. I can connect to my TV using wifi and stream music, but when I try to do the same with the movies, I get an error message. Am I doing something wrong? I downloaded DivX movies, avi, and none work. What am I doing wrong?
You gotta give us some more details in order to help you out. What method are you using to try and stream movies? What does the error msg your getting say?
Streaming
First going to a Gallery. Selecting a Video. After clicking on a menu, and it gives you 3 options Trim, Select player, and Play in 3D.
Don't remember the exact error since I'm not at home at the current moment, but it pretty much says that this type of a file is not supported.
Common issue is that the program may not support that specific file type... There are a lot of ways to end up with a .avi file, some work better then others...
Try a .mpg or .mpeg ... If those types play fine, Its the file, If they don't either... Hard Reset. (most likely a jacked up codec or damaged media player program on the phone)
I have downloaded video formats .mpg and .mpeg
Did a Hard Reset, and still unable to stream
I get a message "The player is unable to play this type of file"
I don't know what else to do.
I have had 100% success with .mp4 movies. Try encoding your videos with Wondershare or Handbrake using the H.264 codec (Best Quality) IMO.
Keep the files below 2GB - EVO doesn't like them any bigger. (could that be your issue? Are you trying to play files that are larger than 2GB?)
No, the movie is 1.95 GB.
I just want to be able to stream it without converting anything, from my phone on to my TV. (I have a SONY LED 3D 55" TV)
I even tried my PS3, and that didn't work. Maybe there is an app that streams any format?
Make sure ur tv has DLNA, that's how its streams it. If ur tv doesn't have it then it won't work

I can stream some formats of music and pictures, so I'm assuming if I can stream those, then my TV is capable for DLNA?

The 2GB issue is not that the Evo doesn't like it, it is a limitation of FAT32.
Not really sure what other file systems the phone will read, but if it supports ext2/ext3/ext4 then you shouldn't have the file size limitation any more.
Then I would search the market for vid players that play all formats and try again. I believe arc media does

The 2GB limitation is currently a limitation of Android. FAT32 has a 4GB limitation.
There are bugs already posted about the 2GB limitation of Android.
I'm having another issue. A couple days ago I could see my pc under devices named daniel-pc. Click on that (I'm within the music app trying to simply stream music from my shared folder on my computer) and I was receiving an error message saying something to the effect of I do not have permission to access this... Please allow access and try again. I don't remember the exact wording and I will post about that when I can get to it.
For now I have a different issue. I am connected to my wifi, I go to the music app hit the top evo 3d thing or menu -> select player and it simply buffers for a min then does not find my damn pc for some reason. I did a factory reset, no dice, hooked up via cable, ditto. I Updated profile and prl. I Did absolutely nothing different to my computer or router settings. I Updated my router firmware after not working which also did not help.
Btw my xbox which is hooked up via ethernet finds and plays daniel-pc just fine. My computer is not wifi its using ethernet to get to the router. As I sed earlier I could see my pc when going to select player so that isn't the issue. Thanks ahead. First post sorry for the length.
have u tried the media share app on the phone if that didnt work try tversity for your computer instead of your phone.
Media share works fine. As soon as I turn it on htc media share pops up on the left side of wmp. I can pull up my media from my phone easily. I'm trying to do the opposite and play files from my pc on my phone using the select player option. You can find this also by opening a picture up pressing menu then select player. if your on wifi now your computer should show up. At least that's what it used to do
Hi
I tried to connect my phone with TV Sony Bravia KDL - 32W5500 by DLNA
I connect my router to TV by lan cable and connect phone to the same router by wifi.
All works good but If I want to watch movie I can't.
Music and photos show on my TV. But movies don't.
I don't know what I make wrong?
My TV have DLNA function so it should work.
Which files formats (movies) do work on DLNA?
AVI, MP4, MPG are supported formats
Chromecast works fine in apps that stream from the NET (youtube, etc). Both from S3 and computer.
Streaming from my PC videos NOT made with the S3, are fine.
Streaming videos SHOT with the S3 from the PC or from the S3 are constantly stuttering. Some of them don't do it, but most do. They are shot in 720p (not 1080p).
Switched from AOSP back to Stock, same problem. Anyone else?
And streaming the same buggy videos through PLEX server (from PC to Chromecast, controlled via S3 plex app) works great. So I assume something is wrong with the videos themselves?
Hi guys,
I've tried to use the Throw function with my Sony TV. I have downloaded the free movies and tried to Throw it. But when connected to my TV, the phone displays 'File Format not supported'. Has anyone had any success with Throw?
it must be in common video format like avi,mp4,etc
format like mkv may get unsupported message. i hv no issue playing mp4 full hd movies on my smart tv using throw function.

Hi
I have problems with HD videos (Not 4K because my TV dosen't support it)) recorded with the Z2.
The sound is not in sync with the video and the time marking in the bottom of the screen on the phone jumps forward and backward. Also the video jumps on the TV.
I have a 720P video's videos from another source which plays just fine using throw.
It's also slow to find the TV when searching for paired devices!!
Greetings
David

Yeah you can't throw those videos because of the DRM. I tried it myself too, you'll want to screen mirror instead.
