I recently updated a game on Play Store which was installed on my external sd card and after about 2 mins, the phone started to restart repeatedly...on reboot the message scanning sd card is displayed and in 2 mins the phone restarts again... this keeps happening....
on removing the sd card the phone operates normally...
in some forum i read that this happens because of corrupted apps....once i uninstalled the app (i updated ) the phone returned to normal working condition....
is this a bug in S2..is there an app that can run on boot to identify and uninstall these corrupted apps
Phone Model: GT-i9100 (India)
Android Version: 2.3.5
thanks, darengive

Hello,
I'm a new owner of a phone with android, since a month ago. The problem with my phone is that some time ago it started rebooting about 2 times per day (in some cases rebooting even I'm not touching it)
I tried removing almost all applications and didn't work (the first app was task killer since I read that's not needed).
One thing that may be helping the phone rebooting itself is that some times I see this notification: "SD card removed unexpectedly".
I have a 8gb class 2 card. But I tried with a 4gb class 4 card and same message appear. I tried formating both cards and didn't work.
Anyone can please help?
Best regards,
Pedro
and my P500 do a restart the card SD (2GB, which was from the market) and probably due to the firmware of the LG (it has a .10 b) so I expect the update from LG that fixes the problem

thousands of us are facing this problem. LG are idiots to have released the phone with such a glaring defect.
But also thousands of us doesn't have any problems with this. It's really strange and you can not say, that LG is idiots - maybe everything works before on testing. Maybe some factory failed in collecting, maybe some wrong series of components... maybe.... who knows.
One think is true - they should face up to problems and not do, that nothing happened.
So the only thing that I can do, is wait for an software update from LG? (perhaps android 2.3 resolve it?)

I doubt whether this is related to software, since other phones don't face this issue. The phone has crashed several times at the end of a call, and I couldn't even press the disconnect button. When the phone doesn't even be stable and do the basic phone features properly, nothing else matters.
I also had this problem.
SanDisk 8GB cl2: reboot 2-3 times daily. Best 1% / hour battery.
SanDisk 2GB cl2: remount frequently. 1% / hour battery.
Original card that came 2GB(Samsung?):NO reboot,NO remount, 2% / 8 hours (night) battery!!!
My sd card didn't remove but the device some times start a reboot, and after a few seconds it enter on the phone (after the text ANDROID when i can see the desktop), when the phone signs he's mounting the sd, the phone goes on reset again and do this for several times, and i can't acess to the device. Some times he works normally.
I tryied to start the device without the sd but when he resets he still reset even without sd, so i don't think this isn't a sd question.
Some one else have this problem?
I update to the v10b by lg suite yesterday. I dont have the random reboot problem anymore for the last 24 hr. and I play pocket legend and like ever 2 hours the phone must reboot with the v10a. Now I am very happy with the v10b. no reboot for the game playing but i felt the graphic is little bit slower than v10a. and I am also factory reset my phone after update. So I can tell is it because the firmware or some software on the card or the root causing the reboot. But I am sure I am a happy pocket legends player. I am also using my old nokia 8g class 4 sd card with the original sd back up.
After I update to v10n, I've been runing android whitout rebooting and unmounting for about 125 hours (and growing).
I can say the software solved the problem because im using same card and I didn't factory either the phone or card.
My software version is already v10b by default but I'm still experiencing this "sd card removed" problem plus my phone also reboots it self rarely...
I've read threads about this problem and they recommend updating the software to v10e...
I contacted LG about this: It seems that the reboot bug is SIM-card related. Here in germany, Eplus (and their retailers) SIM-cards seem to be affected.
hi after updating to 2.2.1 v10n i dont have sd card error and reboots that often but sometimes i cant see the apps installed on the sd card. has anyone noticed this too? after remounting the sd card i can again see the apps and can access them but it keeps on appearing and its quite annoying! plz help!
i have both problems rebooting sd card and disappearing apps
i also have v10n

Based on my experience, I'd say the reboot is triggered by the unexpected sd card removal after moving apps to the sd card. Until I've seen some working prove, I'd assume the idea with SIM-cards is just another theory.

I have the phone from late october and experimented a lot with this problem.
In my case it only happen if I move some apps on the sdcard, if I don't move any apps on the sd card, no reboot happens. Also it seem more frequent when data connection is not "stable".
Some user reported they were able to turn around the problem keeping wifi on all the time, but it is a solution I like
In the last couple of months I used the phone with all the apps on phone memory and never had the problem again...
I got this phone a week ago and it's been rebooting ever since.. I even updated to v10f and now it says something about the SD Card after reboot and the SD card wont work after that.. so I have to reboot manually for the SD card to become active again... this phone is nothing but headache... but I'm still happy with it..
Do custom ROM's also reboot randomly?
you need atleast a class 4 sd card, im using class 4 16 gb sandisk. Absolutely no problems at all.

i use Samsung galaxy s2 with the latest firmware version from Samsung kies (ginger bread 2.3.5) , the problem occurred after installing external SD card and move bunch of apps to it,i tried removing the external sd card from my device, the device stoped rebooting, when i insert it again the device keeps rebooting over and over, the problem is obviosley is moving apps to SD card, i tried to delete the content of the file (andro secure) in SD crad this file includes the moved applications from phone memory to external sd, the problem also stoped
i wasn't having this issue in 2.3.3 therefore
its one of the three:
1- android 2.3.5 do not accept lots of apps in external sd
or 2- there is a problem in a specific app in external sd which make the phone rebooting over and over but i don't know which app is causing the issue because i have lots of apps installed !
or- a problem in the newest firmware 2.3.5 as i heard many ppl having troubles with it
to fix the problem i did factory reset and the rebooting stopped but im scared now to move apps to sd card that the rebooting problem occur again as it happend to me twice after doning factory reset and move them.
i need your help guys, it's annoying to not be able to move apps to sd so the problem don't occur

I will be honestly: I didn't read all BUT
1) U have rebootings after putting files on external sd.
2) after factory reset problem was passed
3) copying again - reboot again
-> right?
1) U thought about wrong (damaged) files you copy?
2) Or maybe files which normally used from an app and this app now isn't able to use it because u moved?
Thing about and check this, I'm sure one of it would be the fold.

it's not copying actully, it's downloading the apps from market and move them from internal storage to external sd therefore i don't think it's a damage files case because they are a market apps however i move only compatible apps which doesn't have (lower right icon) in app2sd, install latest version of app2sd to know what (lower right icon) mean
I'm having the exact same problem! It just randomly started last night, I was playing the game "Blood and Glory" exited the game and around 2 minutes later after checking Facebook it started doing the boot loop.
I'm running the Sprint Epic Touch 4g with Android 2.3.6
I recently put in a 32g SD card a little over a week ago cause it seems the 16g internal is partitioned to only around 2gigs for apps and I have around 130 apps.
I use App2SD pro to move all my apps.
I'm having the same problem, I bought SanDisk SD Card 16GB. when I install it and moved all supported Apps to the SD Card the problem occurred and my SGS2 keeps rebooting over & over during the whole day.
One of my friends made a factory restore & installed the previous OS 2.3.4 and the problem disappeared!!
The thing is what if don't want to root my device and install 2.3.4 what we should do.... shall we keep the SD card only for Camera Pictures & Movies???
any suggestions???
Hey guys,
I am using SGS2 as well. My phone keeps rebooting like more than 2 times a day. randomly. I convince myself not to blame gingerbread2.3.5, thus i tried uninstall my apps in batch (5-10apps each round) and see which batch of my apps cause the prob, if they are not those who cause rebooting issue, i install them back (in phone space not SD card) but so far i still couldn't found and just few mins ago it rebooted again. it happens after the upgrade from 2.3.4 to 2.3.5, after i downloaded a few apps and updated a few apps. I will finish with the un-installation and re-installation.

saw this thread. people were talking about the Dolphin HD which caused the reboot issue, did you have Dolphin browser app installed?
I am having the same issue, too
It started on my S2 after the latest firmware update. I can unmount the SD card and the phone boots OK. I read somewhere that my SD card may have issues, so I purchased another and moved all of my files. The problem reoccurs with the new SD card. I do not have Dolphin browser installed.
I had this issue. I reformatted my sd card and then moved some apps and data back. One week reboot free. 32gb sandisk

In my SGS2 it reboots sometimes in the market, i dont know what to do...
test your sd card for errors...!? thats where i'd start
same problem ... do not restart I had to remove the microSD .. : (.... How do we fix??
SG2 rebooting all the time also
My Sg2 is rebooting every 20 minutes or so.
Is formatting the the SD card a fix?
Mine used to reboot 3 to 5 times a day. Did a factory reset and formatted the internal SD card and set everything backup without Dolphin browser and it's been good for about a week now, no more reboots.
Whether that was because of the rumor that Dolphin browser caused it or from the reformat of the sd card I don't know. But I'm happy none the less.
Got the same problem. It started 2 days ago, and the only fix I've found was to remove apps from my SD card.
From what I've tested :
- Formatting the SD card and copying back all the files doesn't help.
- Removing the SD card or having an empty one works.
- Uninstalling the Dolphin browser didn't help.
- Doubt it's a specific app causing the issue (nothing weird on my S2)
- Removing X number of apps on the SD card seems to work. Now I'm not sure if I had to clear a specific number of apps or a number of MBs, but it works (for now).
Hopefully we'll see a fix soon.

Yours sounds like a problem with an app...
Everyone else should test their sd cards for errors or try fixing bad sectors...
Used to happen on my previous phones with crap sd cards... Once I bought a decent good quality one its never happened
about a month and a half ago I removed dolphin and my reboots stopped. They started up again and my card became corrupted. Decided to go no-card for a while. Was fine for a month. Decided to go for a good deal on a sandisk 16 and 2 days later after moving a bunch of apps on the reboots are back.
Points to a card issue. I've been though 3 cards on this phone now and am about to reset it to factory and bring it in for diagnostics.
Driving me nuts.

I got the same issue (2.3.5) and my SD Card is calss 4, the only way to avoid restart prob. Is to root and downgrade to 2.3.4
Waiting for any other feedback.
Any update Guys,,,,???
This problem is still occur in ICS leaks..
Without knowing this thread I have created similar thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21457609
Still, my thread is to gather data about how many user can reproduce this issue.
This issue is side effect starting from Samsung update 2.3.5..
The only way to avoid this issue is by downgrading to 2.3.4 or lower version.
Hey guys,
I gut some serious problem.
It all began with moving some apps(80 apps) to the SD card using App2SD pro. After that my phone freezes and an error appears : "Sorry! Prozess system reagiert nicht" . So the phone crashes and stated to reboot. Once rebooted the phone freezes again and the error appeared again . When i reboot without the sd card connected it starts normally . Just when the sd card is plugged in it keeps crashing .
I think i have to move these apps to the internal memory but how can i do this if the phone keeps rebooting ?
Thanks in advance .
Hi ho everybody, I have a nagging problem with my phone that I desperately need some help with, please.
Firstly, some basic info:
Htc Evo 3D running MeanROM ICS 2.5
rooted
S-off (via wire method)
Hboot 1.58.000
Radio 1.09.00.0706
Kernel 3.0.16-g4211684
Problem: with the sd card in, my phone keeps rebooting every few minutes. No sd card, no problems. I factory reset then superwiped my phone before I installed MeanROM ICS 2.5. It seems whenever I tried to restore my apps with Titanium Backup the reboot problems were present so proceeded to reinstall all of my apps from the root uninstaller backup folder as to avoid messing around with the google play store and I also cleaned out all the unnecessary folders/files from my sd card. Everything was working fine for a few days and then the phone decides to start rebooting again whenever the sd card is in. It seems like the phone hangs when trying to read the card after a boot and also the play store won't connect when there's a sd card in. The only thing I did before the reboot problem popped up again was moving a few folders back to the sd card that had some backup data for some apps. I removed those folders from the sd card and the rebooting continues. Anybody, help, please. Thanks in advance

I also had serious rebooting issues when I accepted the ICS OTA from Sprint. I'm totally stock and never rooted. It was something on the SD card. I backed up my card to my PC, reformatted it and started adding apps back one by one. So far no rebooting issues. Not sure why it did that, perhaps a corrupt save file on the sd card,
Hi
I am absolutely new to the world of Android and its related processes. Recently I got hold of a second hand Motorola Razr (Indian Version) which was on stock ROM that is GB 2.3.6. After playing with it for a few days I decided to search for an OTA update of the firmware. There was one available and I opted to download it OTA. However, at that time my cell was on roaming and the download did not start. In the meantime, my brother tried to Root the cell and I am not sure if he succeeded because there was no Superuser app in the apps tray. He also downloaded and installed the rootkeeper app. Later on when I reached home the OTA update continued and installed ICS but ever since then, it has been restarting the moment one tries to do something with any apps or with emails.
It also restarts sometimes in the middle of a call and goes on starting and stopping for an eternity, before it is able to start properly. Seeing this I rooted the cell using one of the ICS rooting methods and then, first installed the MIUI ROM followed by the Arctic ROM. But the problem persists and I am fed up with it. Its out of warranty. Guys, I sincerely need your help. Please tell me what to do.
One more thing that I have just noticed. I am not able to copy anything to my external memory card mounted on the phone via USB.
It may be bcoz your phone unable to read data from internal or external sd-card.I recommend you to replace your external sd card and test it whether your problem stilll exits.
First method
1.Power off your phone
2.Remove ex-sd card or replace with other sd card.
3.Power on and test it.
If first method not ok,
4.Move everything from internal sd-card(not external) to PC and format the internal sd-card,then reboot the phone and test it.
If not ok, Power off, remove your external sd card without replacing with other one and test again.
