Sprint car dock unboxing... - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Found this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9zR6p3FoJU
So I called telesales and ordered it. The product # is: KPH6886V
It was $34.99
+ tax
+Shipping: $12 something
But I asked her if she could waive the shipping because I wouldn't have to pay the shipping if I went to a sprint store. She checked with her manager and then waived the shipping

It's nice they finally made a car dock that allows you to keep your case on while on the dock. I wonder how much clearance there is though...

Great find! I'd like to get one but I can't find it at Sprint.com... I only see an ugly universal one.

Finally one that might work with the otterbox. This would be a must have just like a 64gb micro sd. Wow.

Just saw on another thread that it is available at Sprint stores now for $35...

I have this dock for my 3d and have a Pt case it works flawlessly. Also have had sense 4 on my phone and the car mode is brilliant, blows old away.

So this thing doesn't come with a power adapter, you have to buy one seperate?

Noticed that too - pretty lame and cheapa$$ move if you ask me. Also disappointed that it doesn't have the same design for the arm and suction cup as the one X version.

Same here. These docks are the best I've ever owned. You can easily twist it around to portrait mode if needed. They stay stuck to the windshield even in our blisteringly hot Texas summers. I also agree that the Sense 4 car mode is awesome.

Awesome this looks like sprint/igrip one I got for my Evo 3d, except for the adapter in the back. I'm going to have to find one that's amps compatible for my use. Here are pictures of my evo 3d igrip/sprint dock with my kuda base and my wire hidden in my charger.

I bought the car dock today. It won't charge with the 1amp palm pre car charger. Any suggestions? What car charger are you guys connecting to it?

The charger works fine on its own, I've been using it to charge my evo for over a year. The problem is, for the Sprint/HTC dock to charge the phone, a car charger has to be connected to it. After I connect the charger to the cradle, the white light (indicating power) on the palm charger goes off, which is weird too.

Thanks! I believe that one puts out 2 amps, which is probaby what the dock needs.

I do like these car docks. However my OG Evo and the 3D would always overheat and reboot in the dock from the sun coming through the windshield. How does everyone get around that now?

I mounted mine higher, next to the rear view - so its always in the shade and not directly in the sun. Also, my OG started out resetting like that only in the heat/car dock, then became anytime I ran it hard it would get hot / reset.
$35 @ Sprint got a replacement next day, no insurance. Have it handy for back up No more rebooting in the dock/charging/heat!

It sounds like the dock has extra room to accommodate cases. Does anyone know if it will work with the Otterbox Defender case?

slick looking case, I likes!
And for those who say cheap cases don't get the job done, I bought a case from the Sprint store for $17 (actually priced at $21, mistakenly labeled, but given to me at the lower price).
This case has been used on my evo for 4-5 months, then thrown in my trunk, soaked, and is still in pretty good condition (considering what it's been through)
I no longer use a case, but now that I'm selling my Evo, it's an extra item to put with the sale, and it's still in pretty good condition!

Hyperion 3500mAh Extended Battery + Cover - Updated - Pics

I just ordered one of these. Has anyone had any experience with this one? The other Hyperion batteries seem to work fine and people are happy with them.
It is $19.99 on Amazon right now
http://www.amazon.com/Hyperion-Sams...ZDSA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323911333&sr=8-1
Update:
This battery does NOT cause boot loops. Also NFC is not supported with this battery either.
Here are some pictures of the battery on the phone.

It takes 5 fully charges/discharges to properly calibrate. So that means at least a whole week.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
I have really only used it for like 2 days and when I was it was really heavy usage. As stated before, it does take a few days to properly calibrate the battery so it probably will last much more than I have been experiencing.
Since I do not have a case that works with the battery on I don't feel comfortable using it during work/school but I will be going on vacation trip to SC which is why I bought the battery.
Here was my first day:
The screen on time is all from playing games:
Thanks, Well I really don't know if get one of those or this one, on amazon search for B002MQUYU6
I want the hyperion because its 3500, but don't know if there is any case that will fit, I think will be harder to get something that fits with that shape..
on the "unbranded batt"I guess will be much easier to get a case.. What do you guys think ??

I'll be getting the SGP Neo Hybrid Ex case which will most likely fit.
It can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/SGP-Samsung-G...=A2SFKRF5TPZMT5&ie=UTF8&qid=1324475378&sr=1-6
Ok I bite the bullet, mine will arrive tomorrow, (I love amazon prime). And this weekend I will goto Vegas.. So, that would work to calibrate the battery ..
BTW: I found another case that might fit. Search on ebay for Taurus Galaxy Case... A bit expensive i think, but it looks nice
Sweet have been waiting for the extended battery thanks op
I received the battery..my initial impressions:
I thought it would feel cheaper than what it actually is, to my surprise the batt feels nice, the backcover sits like the original, but the cover it really feels cheap.
Also the added weight to the phone is really noticeable, but at the same time is welcome.
Something I notice is that sticker of the battery place the + a - on the wrong leads, and this battery runs a bit hotter than the stock one.
Right now is charging and lets see how good it's !!
Any updates?

By default, pin 4 on the micro USB head is unused which provides a device peripheral connection when plugged into a host (e.g. PC or Mac).
To enable OTG mode on the micro USB head, short pins 4 and 5 to ground (black wire).
Once OTG is enabled, the micro USB head now acts as the host and a standard female USB head on the other end will be able to receive device peripherals.
Cables used
- Generic micro USB cable
- USB extender
Tools
- leatherman skeletool cx
- mastercraft folding blade
- modeling tweezers and tape
- mastercraft soldering station
- rosin core electrical solder
- electrical tape
- modeling cement
1. Slice open micro USB head
2. Fix/solder connections and short pins 4 and 5
3. Splice micro USB cable with standard female USB cable
4. Seal everything up and test it out!

My mods

I am pretty pleased with myself, and although none of the ideas are really that original (others have done similar things... SD card thing was done on a Note I, but not quite so elegantly in my opinion), I like how they all came together. I'm sorry for the poor quality pics... family is asleep and I cannot access a decent camera so these came from my PS Vita which is more accessible
Using a Otterbox case I've got a phone with a fairly long battery life and a full size SD slot which is currently supporting a 128gb Kingston SDXC card. It did require some cutting with a dremel, but when the case is on there is very difficult to detect the mods visually. Now there is a slight bump where the battery lies, but it doesn't overly deform the case and the SD card is undetectable. Of course it is heavier, but it is worth the weight to me as my cell coverage at work is nonexistent and the extra battery actually allows me to make it through a 12 hour shift with battery life at the end of the day. Now doing this required my cutting through the portion of the case where the NFC antenna is located, thus no NFC commo right now. For me this is no huge loss as it's something I never use though. Your mileage may vary with this though

Otterbox seems to be using a different polymer for the rubber covering now... It's more... firm (best word I can think of)... Additionally, I cut the original backing tight enough that it is very difficult to remove the battery with that in place. In any case the battery isn't going anywhere.

I would be careful, if other users aren't having problems I'd say go for it, just be aware that the adage about gettingwwhat you pay for is often true with batteries

Not that difficult... A couple of medical databases and some games will chew up your space pretty quick

Very true. But worst case would I have a crappy cheap battery? Or could it actually damage my phone...

Anker battery is just as good and it's way cheaper than mugen. It has solid reviews on it and I'm actually using and I am very satisfied with it. I actually did the Otterbox mod myself (sans sd mod) and I love it!
Oh, btw, the Anker battery only costs $16 (when I purchased it about 6 weeks ago)!

Not so sure about HTC build quality now.

Ok I've had this phone since January. And I've kept it in a trident kraken case. And I took it off yesterday around 8 pm, and just kept it in my pocket.
Well I looked at the backside and noticed that the back don't fit flush. Look and try and piece all the pegs in the holes. Then I hold it and look at the side, and my phones chasis is bent. -_- Really out of everything my phone has to bend backwards.
Just thought I'd let u guys know they bend I'll post pics in a few.

There were a bunch of threads on this last year. Last I remember this discussion was September.
Honestly I'm not surprised with how thin the lte is I'm glad that there are rumors of the butterfly coming to sprint.
If it does it will line up with renewal, and with how big the battery is it should be a substantial phone.

U dont see that right past the kickstand? That's not the point I'm sure this phone wasn't designed and built to be bent.

I see that gap but is that the case not properly on or is that the actual problem?

Nah its bent that's why its like that look between the box and the edge of the frame I dont have a camera that's better than this so I can't get that great of the picture.

That happen to me a couple of times now all I had to do is bend it back just don't over do it as far as I know it doesn't cause any harm to the screen are insides lol.

The back on my white version didn't fit flush out of the box. I looked at 3 of them in the store, and they all had the same problem. There were other issues with the bezel as well. This phone has been a disappointment. I still have a year before I can upgrade

Not that big of a deal...
The phone shell is aluminum.....aluminum is soft and bends.
But it wasn't built with aluminum with the idea oh hey it'll bend that's cool

....and I thought I was bad with my phones.
Look, people. I'm not a little guy, and I usually put my phone in the front pocket of my pants. It moves around, it shifts sideways, etc, and you know how messed up my phone is from that?
Zero.
Are you guys sitting on your phones or something? Stepping on them? Because I can't see how my phone hasn't bent to hell, and I don't even have a case on it...
I dunno. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones.
The plastic piece on mine doesn't fit flush along the top edge, but it isn't bent. But it's dinged up, too. So it may be from all the drops, I Dont use a case.

So many variances between different individual phones. This is mass produced at its finest. With all the different data problems along with the aluminum parts

until yours looks like this one, youre doing fine. Mine has a slight bend and its been fine since launch day.
This is what I'm saying. Little bends will lead to that eventually.
