If you are a current Sprint customer under contract and want to get the new EVO 4g LTE for less then outright buying it, then you should use the "Sprint Early Upgrade Buyout Program"
The way it works is if you have 12 months or less on your contract you can pay a fee to end your contract early. By ending your contract, you can do a new 2year contract and get the discounted price.
Fee Amounts:
9-11 months = $165
12-14 months = $125
15-17 months = $95
18-21 months = $55
22-24 months = $35
Over 24 months = $0
So if you have 9-11 months on your contract (you will pay the most) you will pay $165.
$165 Early Term Fee
+199 Price of E4GLTE on a 2 year contract
$365 before taxes
$549 (E4GLTE Off Contract)
-$365 (Early buy out program/ most expensive scenario)
$184 is what you will save

I paid $115 a week ago and I was 12 months out from my upgrade date.
Although I believe the time frames are correct, the dollar amounts aren't - For instance, my upgrade is June 1st, and for me to buy out it would have been $45. Also while speaking to Sprint, they made it seem like the time frame was only within 4 months, but I don't think that was true.
I thought with their new program you can get new customer equipment pricing at 20 months???

I know this is true in part because they wouldn't allow me to upgrade the other phone on my line before may, which was exactly 24 months after purchase and I know a few people that have called and they were offered early buyout.
I did this a week ago. Paid $45 to buy out 4 months.
Maybe the buyout is necessary on family plans where the upgrade is not being done on the primary line?

It has been conformed that the price are not dead on that I posted, they seem to be cheaper. But I can conform that i have 11 month on my current contract and i did buy out for $113. I can conform that if you have 12 months or less on your contract you can use this program.
When you call you have to speak to a customer service rep. If you talk to one of the other department it is know telling what they will tell you. One lady told me i had to drive to a store in my state that was 2 hours from where I live????? I just called back and talked to a customer service rep.

You: I know there's a program, called Early Upgrade Buyout Program, I want to take advantage of that
Quincy M: Ok, Let me check as we have this special promotional program at specific locations only.
Quincy M: I have located that information for you , to take part in this program you need to call the Account Services team on 888 211 4727 and they will assist you further with the early upgrade buyout, I recommend that you call them right away please.
You: Can you confirm that my location is eligible?
Quincy M: Sure, let me check

Great info, I may be able to use my 3d to knock the $199 price down to $109 and pay the early buy out. Next month should be my 12th month on this contract. Then instead of using the other phone on my line to get the LTE I can just get two new phones. Thanks!

I'm willing to bet if you call them they would do it even outside of the market. It doesn't hurt them at all cause its like adding money to what you paid for the phone.

I live in Minnesota and called them three times on Tuesday. Each time they confirmed the program but that I needed to complete it at a corporate store which is only 5-10 minutes from me. (That's why I kept calling. I was hoping someone would do it over the phone) It can not be done at a Sprint store which is not corporate. I think there are 2 or 3 corporate stores near me and like 10+ non-corporate (which also includes places like Radio Shack or Sam's Club). One rep also confirmed my location to make sure the program was available in my area.
Doesn't really matter for me now since there are no phones left to preorder which means I need to get it in a store when it's released. I'll just go to one of the corporate stores. I was willing to pay full price last week(then found out about this program) so whatever hoops I jump through to save a few hundred bucks this week is worth it to me.
I did this last week, talked to account services they told me my area wasn't elgible. but there is a program in my area for upgrade now it ends the 17th in store. But can only preorder the EVO LTE online. So I called retentions told them I wanted to upgrade early she offered the buyout for $95. So now I'm elgible and waiting for the EVO to drop.

Thanks for this thread. I am only 7 months with my epic touch 4g and they reset my upgrade with $165 and will do a preorder at BB once it shows in the system. I was going to pay full retail off contract until I saw this thread and gave it a shot. Went to BB and the girl said to wait till Monday to preorder and get the $50 gc. She said that if phone comes out after the galaxy 3 for Sprint, I can cancel preorder on Evo lte and get the GS3 instead.
Thanks everyone,
Ian B
So with the LTEVO pretty much delayed indefinitely, are you going to cancel your preorder or just wait it out?
im still deciding
gonna give it until friday to decide
Idk why anyone would cancel. Stuff happens.
No point in cancelling for me. There is no better phone on the horizon. Oh well, waiting I will be then.
Nope.
This is still the best bang for your buck phone right now. Underwhelmed by the SGIII. We didn't even think this phone would be out until June. I see no reason.
If you preordered from a reseller that gave you a discount for preordering, there's probably no reason to cancel unless you are changing your mind on the device altogether and getting something else right now.
If you are still sticking to the HTC ONE X or EVO LTE then you might risk losing the $$$ discount from the reseller preorders. No guarantee that the resellers will still offer below sprint's $199 after release. If you're ordering from amazon, you're still getting some freebies, and Best Buy has those tradein deals going on.
I finally was able to pinpoint that feeling I have right now. I knew it felt familiar.
This is like when you are at an amusement park and you get on that long ass line to ride the mega-coaster, you are only a few cars away from getting on the ride, when the operator tells you that the coaster is being closed for an indefinite amount of time.
"What do I do, do I wait? Get off the line?" You know the minute you get off the line, the ride will start up again and frustration will set in. But I really want to ride this ride and have a great spot.
I still want this phone, and since I've already been billed won't have to worry about coming up with the cash when an ever better one becomes available. While the delay is annoying, it will be a nice surprise when it finally makes it here.
Yeah I really want this phone I am waiting it out

Still have my OG Evo. It'll give Sprint time to rollout LTE to the NY Metro area. So I get to enjoy WiMax a bit longer.

I have the phone on reserve at my local Sprint store as a favor from the employee who works there. I also did an "official" pre-order at Best Buy Mobile. While Best Buy would be cheaper for me, at this stage in the game, I would probably take it from where I could get it.
Due to the fact I haven't had to put any money down at either location, there's no reason for me to cancel. It's just a test of patience for me at this point, since the T-Mobile contract I've been bound to expired last week, and I would have loved to have new service and a new phone sooner rather than later.

Then it becomes an issue as my OG EVO is doa. I am in need of a phone and the timing for this one was perfect. If and when we learn of the new date I will make a decision, hell I don't want to mess with a 'fixed' on either, just want a new freaking phone.
If this delay drags on for weeks, it might be Nexus time for me. I am without right now!

HTC EVO 4G LTE - DELAY
HTC shared this statement regarding the HTC EVO 4G LTE: “The US availability of HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE has been delayed due to a standard U.S. Customs review of shipments that is required after an ITC exclusion order. We believe we are in compliance with the ruling and HTC is working closely with Customs to secure approval. HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE have both received enthusiastic support and we appreciate customers patience as we work to get these products into their hands as soon as possible.”
Here's Information from Sprint: HTC EVO 4G LTE availability The U.S. availability of the HTC EVO 4G LTE has been delayed. HTC is working to resolve this issue and appreciates your patience as they work to get products into Sprint channels. We can’t provide specific timing for product availability at this time and we appreciate your patience as HTC works to get products on store shelves as soon as possible.
Pre-order status/availability Delivery of products for pre-order are on hold and Sprint will provide a ship date as soon as possible. Sprint will maintain the promise for the preorder customers that they will be among the first to receive their HTC EVO 4G LTE units.

My brother just called Sprint (in Ohio) and asked if they had the Evo LTE in stock. The guy on the phone said "they're coming in at 3pm today." It was the manager, and he confirmed that it was indeed EVO LTE, not just a regular shipment.
Anyone else hear anything like this?
I called a few Sprint stores (in Atlanta) and they have not heard anything. She said they have a shipment coming in at 2pm today but doesn't know what's on it yet. So I plan on calling back at 2:30 to see what's up.
They might be getting shipment but pretty sure they're holding them until Sprint releases an "official" launch date. Until then, they're pretty much under lock and key.
I think a lot of Sprint stores already have them, and they're waiting for other 3rd parties to get stock before releasing an official launch date (Best Buy, Radioshack, etc).
Hopefully everything will be released by customs and in warehouses this week. I'm sure a lot of people are getting frustrated at this point and delaying another week might derail the Evo LTE train.
Thank you for the info sir.
Was not aware that some stores may already have them.
However, the guy told my brother to come get one today though. So not sure what's going on with that.
My sprint said last week, likely Wednesday, so this sounds right.

I chatted with a Google CS person yesterday. He said to call T-Mobile and talk with a CS rep and to complain. Today in their announcement Google said the phones will be sold through carriers outside the US and The Google Store within the US and other countries in which it conducts business. Since they are willing to sell it through carriers outside the US it tells me they aren't necessarily opposed to it. They also did not expressly say it won't be sold through US carriers (in the future). The read between the lines when taking into account what the Google CS rep said yesterday and what Google said today is that the carriers in the US are choosing not to carry it. I too am very disappointed that I cannot get it through JOD. I called T-Mobile and the CS rep hadn't even heard of the 6p and 5x. She created a ticket to send my request up the ladder. I suggest all of you do that too.

I am shocked that T-Mobile at least won't be carrying the Nexus 6P. T-Mobile has been a staunch Nexus supporter since day one, where other carriers may have sold one or two different Nexus phones over the years, T-Mobile ALWAYS sold the Nexus phone, every one, every year, starting with the Nexus-One up to the Nexus 6. Tis a sad day that T-Mobile won't have the latest Nexus phone, for the first time in six years
I am also on ' Jump on Demand ' mainly for the annual Nexus release, and sometimes the Note release or possibly HTC flagship release.

From what I'm gathering on Twitter from @Tmobile and @askdes's answers, it's not that they're NOT going to carry them, just not right away. When asked directly, they've said that they didn't have any info "at this time". I'm betting that we'll see both Nexus devices at all of the domestic carriers before February, maybe even before Christmas.
The Nexus 6 launch was a fiasco last year due to stock constraints, from both a carrier level and Google level. I have a good feeling that Google reserved all of the stock for the Google store until they can ramp up production, at which point they'll start allowing carriers to announce and sell them. That, or they're just wanting to do an exclusive period and allow carrier sales later.
I think the reason some oversea's carriers will sell the phone is due to the Google Store not being available in every country.

I won't be getting one until T-Mobile has them in store. That or if a cheap one shows up on craigslist.
I refuse to buy a phone through a carrier. So no disappointment hear
Dont get your hopes up, if they were planning to carry it in carrier stores retail/online they would have announced availability yesterday, they said it would be carried in other countries on carriers, what sense does it make to release info that you're gonna carry it in the US on carriers after you have already made the initial availability announcement. Last year they said it would be carried on all carriers from the start. Think about it, if they are really holding back sales in the US for Play store orders they would have said Pre order in the US on play store with carrier availability after the pre order period. Sorry but US carriers arent carrying it it this time, also if you really want to finance a nexus you can do so if you sign up for project fi...that right there makes US Carrier availability even less likelier still.
Seems like some of these Carriers have joined or continued the iphonie cults...

why do you care if carriers carry them or not? US carriers should be avoided like plague. Nothing good ever comes from them! Pay the device outright and enjoy it.
