Question for you guys .... I use Google Music but have noticed on my RAZR that often the bluetooth music control (like from my car stereo) only work when Google Music is in the foreground on my phone. It seems to be OK if it was in the foreground and I switch back to Navigation -- I can still control it. But if I start playback from my launcher using iSyncr widget things often get all screwed up and I can only get things right by going directly into Google Music... otherwise the controls on my car do nothing.
Anyone else notice this?
(Same thing happens when I stream A2DP to my laptop ...)
Another issue is I can't use the button on iPhone headphones with my RAZR. I had no issues with my Droid X but it won't answer/end calls nor control music playback. Is this normal as well?
could it be the widget?

Anything is possible -- although I've been using iSyncr since I first got Android and have never had similar issues.
I've been listening to music all day at work via Bluetooth and it's been working -- and that's without having the player in the foreground. So I don't know ... I wonder if it's the stock Motorola player stealing focus? I have never used it but it always seems to be running.
Also any idea on why the headset button doesn't work at all? Not even for call handling.

unless you are using the settings on the stock music player equalizer, I don't see a reason to not use task manager to end it, that may be what's causing a conflict. and I am unfamiliar with your headphones, I rarely use them. but when it do I have some nice sennheiser earbuds my wife got me. normally I use a jawbone jambox (bluetooth) at home and a wired (dynex) logitech speaker at work.

Does anyone else have a problem with eclipse and bluetooth? I use a bluetooth stereo headset to listen to music and after a few minutes it cuts out and I have to reboot.
I use Bluetooth in my car and it works well. Not sure if its the same for headphones though.
Eclipse 2.0.2
I just sbf'd back to 2.3.4 and installed eclipse 1.3. going to see if that corrects it
I have a bluetooth stereo and I have disconnect issues as well on gbp7...not sure what the deal is, but I think it's the stereo cause the phone shows still connected and the audio doesn't get rerouted back to phone. You don't have to reboot, just toggle bt off then on. Plus the problem is random.
I never modified anything with the bt is why I think it's the stereo, but I ciudad be wrong. Ima try to get a log and see what the deal is.

So far music hasn't cut out...I believe it has something to do with v2.02 or the 2.3.5 update
2.03 is out now...
Maybe that will help ur issues?

Not to bust this, but on my end at least, I know I didn't mess up updating the device.
and the Eclipse 2.0.3 update does not change anything to bluetooth..
But I found the Problem.
By chance do you use Google Music as your default music app?
Anyway, I do and the problem is with that app(or maybe its in another setting which I doubt cause the problem persists on GBP7.)
Explanation:
I use a Bluetooth cd player in my car and I use google music to stream to my stereo. Every now and then I lose sound output on my CD Player(although both show connected). The problem would arise whether it was playing local music or streaming from google music. At first thought it was my phone, then I flashed Eclipse to test it out for a lil bit and the problem persisted. So I moved on to thinking it was the Stereo. Well, this morning I was at work(still am..) and I was listening to my music via ear plugs. I ended up getting a random "stop" although the music progress bar was still moving... I changed songs and still had no output. HERES THE KICKER!! I turned the volume up with the keypad and BAM! the sound started to produce out of my precious ear plugs....
I haven't had time to test this with the bluetooth stereo yet, but the problems had IDENTICAL symptoms, so I'm assuming this will work.
The random MUTE of the app is odd, and very random. Sometimes it wont do it for HOURS and then sometimes it will do it every 2 minutes or so. But for now, try to increase the volume(you can do this while screen is off if using Google Music, not sure about others) and see if it solves the issue for now. I will look into it and test with another music app(probably winamp) and see if the problem arises. If so, then I'll look into the system configuration and see if the problem is there. I know I didn't change any bluetooth settings in my ROM, and I haven't noticed any changes by Nitro in Eclipse. So this leads me to think its an APP problem.
I use juice defender and other custom settings for battery life, but I know for a fact those aren't the problems, so if anyone reading this looks into the issue, the problem is either Google Music or in the system configuration. So don't go looking into Juice Defender or other apps to be the problem.
Disregard...I am blind
Like stated.... It's not another app interfering.... Dsp manager is not on gbp7...

I have a jvc deck that has built in blutooth. It routes the sound they the car speakers and uses a wired microphone. Call quality transmit an receive is pretty damn good. However, when using bluetooth audio...say pushing anything from the music app, or pandora, there is alot of static attached to the signal. Does anyone else have this problem? Are there any solutions. I am rooted but still stock. I use poweramp as well as the default player at times.

I have a jvc deck as well, and I don't have any problems with static over bluetooth. I use Pandora and Google play music, and both work great for me on stock, CM7, CM9, and MIUI. MIUI actually works the best for me as far as bluetooth playing nice with the head unit.
Never used power amp or stock tho, so I can't speak for that.

Thought I really hate the annoying noise when I use the wired earphones.
Ill have to experiment with a few other players. I rarely use the phone for streaming in the car. Odd, I really dint pick up any noise with wired cans. On a side note, I found a new player 'neutron' that blows away anything I've used this far in the sq department. Its a paid app that offers a limited use 'timed' trial.

I've also got a semi-stock Photon 4G. Been using it fine in my Ford Fusion w/ Sync. Sunday, tried to make a phone call and it was just static. Turned off the bluetooth on my phone and it was fine. Now, it's unable to make a call through Sync. It pairs fine, just nothing but static. Why the sudden change? No new updates from Motorola or Sprint that I'm aware of. BTW, by semi-stock, I mean it's rooted. No custom ROM's or what not. Any ideas? I've googled some and it seems that the Photon 4G has some bluetooth related issues. I really like the phone and had really planned on holding off on upgrading since there wasn't a real 'need'. Another issue I've had lately is receiving texts w/ no sound. It vibrates, but doesn't give me a sound. I checked the setting and even when scrolling through the notification sounds, it doesn't do it. Then it will randomly do it. Rebooted and battery pulls have been done. Really, REALLY don't want to do a reset. Ideas? Are they related?
I use bluetooth audio everyday, and I've used every rom except stock. Bluetooth always works very well. Rule out your jvc device first, test your Bluetooth on something else. Then reset or reflash, then use your warranty.

I also intermittently get static when making calls in my Focus via Sync over Bluetooth. I can faintly hear the caller in the background, but the static is MUCH louder than the person. When this occurs, there are some other symptoms the phone exibits:
No audio will play via multiple apps. Tested in Pandora (cycles from one song to another), Amazon MP3 (same as Pandora), Youtube (Gives an error about audio), Voicemail (Unable to play the message).
Alarms only vibrate, no audible alarm.
When trying to do a call via speakerphone, the person on the other end cannot hear me.
The fix I have found is to reboot. The phone is stock, but has been rooted, and has occurred for the past few months, even with the update that came out at the beginning of August. I tried reflashing it in June with the 198 SBF, but didn't do a reset of the data. The reflash succeeded, but the problem is still occurring. I removed "Words with Friends" and "Scramble with Friends" last night to see if it helps.

Rats. Too bad I hate Sense, so I'll probabpy go with a Galaxy S III, even though I dont like TouchWiz. However, Touchwiz is preferable to Sense. Might go Galaxy Nexus, not sure. For now, haven't had it reoccur yet, but we'll see.
Good news: not a single reoccurance of the static over bluetooth and no audio. I still wonder how an app can effectively crash the audio stack, though. Oh well.

With the upgrade to ICS I am no longer able to make the button on my wired headset pause/unpause music. I've tried freezing the Voice Commands app using Titanium, I've tried using the Jays Headset Control app, I've tried other music playing apps like Rocketplayer. I can always make the button pause music successfully while the screen is on, but if the screen is off it simply doesn't work. My primary music player is the standard "Play Music" app that comes with ICS.
Are others having this problem? Have you found a way around it?
I am having the same issue too, once the screen locks I cant pause, rewind, or fast foward
I'm having the exact same issue using DoggCatcher. I have a brand new set of phillips headphones for android that worked great before the update. If anyone can figure this out, it would be great.
Try Poweramp, it has a setting that gives Poweramp a higher priority for this case (Haven't tested it with ICS yet, but on GB this worked).
Other than that, it's a nice and beautiful music player btw.
Thanks for the poweramp suggestion. I gave it a try this morning but it behaves exactly the same as the other music apps. Headset controls work fine when the screen is on but don't work at all when the screen is off. I suppose it's good to hear that others are having problems too, which means it's not a problem with just my phone. I'd love to hear a solution!

Same problem here after upgrading to ICS. Headset controls work perfectly with the screen on but don't work at all with the screen off. I have tried using JAYS Headset Control, Headset Button Controller, Headset Droid, and the built-in headset control functions of Winamp and Poweramp all to no avail. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the lock screen music controls disappear after installing headset control apps due to some sort of conflict between the app and the Android system.
Anyone find a solution to this? Your ugly red head step child the Droid Bionic seems to have the same problem. So I was hoping there'd be some app or setting to flick to make the controls work when the screen is off.
Also eager to find the best solution on Android, it is pretty easy on iOS!!!
As a music fan, this feature means a lot for us. But seems Android doesn't like music as iOS.
For me, I have upgraded to JB 4.1 and my current solution is create a smart action like launch Google Play Music when plug in headset. The control works for pause and play when screen is off. Actually it also works for skipping by double clicking very quickly, but it seems a little bit hard to achieve, or you can say it doesn't work. But it DOES work sometimes. Good luck!

ive been using poweramp, and this may just be my choice in headphones, but ive never gotten those buttons to work on CM10...again this may just be me, but ive never gotten headphone buttons to work on my RAZR
Install Headset button controller, tap on the Advanced label, scroll until you find the 'Advanced settins' entry (it's the last on the list), check 'Prevent sleep mode' option. It works fine, but it's a shame we have to pay for an app in order to fix a os's bug.
For me the problem was MotoCast. After I disabled in the settings everything worked great.
Hey all,
I searched around for a while but couldn't find anyone posting about this issue...So I manually upgraded to the .211 release using Matt's Utility 1.7 back when it was released, and I have had next to no problems on stock ICS except for this. One annoying issue that keeps occurring though, is my music starts playing automatically after I hang up from a call using bluetooth. This happens only when I receive a call and my headset is connected to the phone (both handset and A2DP profiles). It streams over the headset thru A2DP and I have to manually pause the music on my phone (or disconnect/reconnect the headset) to stop it. I use a Bose Series 2 headset and didn't have this problem on stock GB beforehand. Music is not playing before I receive the call.
I've found a temporary solution in disabling the A2DP portion of the connection manually in the bluetooth settings under the headset subsection.... but this is annoying because I have to keep turning it back on when I want to stream music or podcasts through the ear piece.
Any ideas as to why this is now happening?

Just the built in "my music" app bloatware from Moto...also Pandora. I did disable a bunch of bloatware when I first started setting up the phone. I'll see if disabling/re-enabling the my music app has any effect... I've never had a problem with Pandora before but I could also try uninstalling that to see if it makes a difference.
Flashing the .215 leak fixed the problem... hallelujah
Ever since the KitKat update my navigation voice cannot be heard while music is playing.
Previously, Maps would pause my music and the voice would speak at full volume (or whatever volume was set).
Now, Maps does not pause the music, but instead turns it down, and the navigation voice is set to half volume. No matter how many times I turn it up, each new navigation command is once again reset to half volume, and I cannot hear it over the music that continues to play.
Is anybody else experiencing this? I've searched around a bit but all the threads on it I see are for older updates on other devices.
Is nobody else experiencing this? I've experienced it on two different HTC handsets after the KitKat update, so I'm assuming it's not limited to me, but I suppose you never know.
im not. stock unrooted on sprint. 4.4 update. use BT a lot in the car and the voice prompts stop the music player (poweramp) with no issues. volume is crisp and clear as its always been.

Thanks for that. I use Spotify for my streaming, so perhaps the issue is with Spotify. I'll download some music to the phone and try the stock music player to see.
just to clarify, poweramp is not the stock player. its 3rd party. i mainly use poweramp because it crossfades the music. :good:

Yeah I know. But my assumption was that it was related to Spotify specifically (which is what I use 99% of the time) and that if I tried the stock music player it would work fine.
I tested it last night, actually not with the stock music player, but instead with TuneIn Radio Pro. It worked perfectly, so I now know the issue is with a recent Spotify update.
