Hey all, my name is Dan, long time lurker, first time poster.
I have done alot of research on the topic, but didn't find much in the way of this particular problem.
I currently have a SGS2 running Ressurection 1.8 and a Galaxy Tab 10.1 running the latest build of AOKP.
So basically the problem I'm having is that both of these devices are stuck in Bluetooth Legacy mode, and what I need is to somehow enable Simple Secure Pairing (SSP).
I have a bluetooth mouse that has no PIN. It was designed strictly for SSP use.
When my SGS2 was running stock 3.2.6 I had no problems pairing my mouse.
My tablet was running 3.2, and it would not pair, it insisted I input the correct PIN. There was no way to leave the field blank and continue, and inputting anything got you a failed pair.
Fast forward to now, I updated both devices thinking that SSP was the standard and now I'm sad to learn that Legacy mode seems to be the only way to pair any of my bluetooth devices.
So basically does anyone have any idea of SSP can be enabled?
Easy solution is to buy a new mouse.
But what would that solve? lol.
Thanks for readin.

The SF didnt show this question, yet.
While trying to connect a BT device (mouse) I encounter the following problem: The S3 asks for a PIN for this device and the field cannot be left blank cause the continue button remains inactive then. The BT mouse does neither require a PIN nor does it work when any key is entered here.
Anyone got a solution for this issue?
Thanks, Don
every BT device like you have, have specific method to pair.
I have Jabra bluetooth headset, and I have to press the specific button on my jabra, so it can be paired with another blutooth (PC/cellphone).
try read manual on your mouse official website.
for me, that's not S3's issue.

Men never read manuals, u know
OK maybe some additional details are helpful to grasp the problem.
I used this mouse with several different hosts, Win7 PC, Galaxy S2 and others. Pairing is usually easy as you just pair it and leave the PIN blank and that's it. The problem simply is that u can't leave the entry field for the PIN blank on the SGS3 (rooted with stock rom) wheras u can do so on other devices. And that makes it an S3 issue I assume.

Hi,
in our warehouse I use the Galaxy Wifi 4.0 with a Motorola RS507 bluetoothscanner for orderpicking.
I have 10 of them all working without any problem. Now I needed 10 more, but the 4.0 is replaced by the 4.2. So I bought them instead.
But I cannot get the scanners working with this device.
If I want to connect the scanner I get the message:
Confirm passkey is xxxxxx to pair with RS507 1234
I can press "Accept" or "Decline"
When I press "Accept", it says "paired" but I cannot use the device. Also the device give no confirmation sound that it is connected.
On all the other devices (Wifi 4.0, Galaxy S, Lenovo A1 Tablet) I get the message:
Confirm password to pair with "RS507 1234"
Then I only have to press Accept and the device is paired and working.
Does anyone have a similar problem with another bluetooth device and knows a solution how I can connect the scanner?
If it will not work I have to look around for the old Galaxy Wifi 4.0.
Thanks for your help.

Try enabling CONFIG_BT_HID in your kernel. I say this since the scanner's datasheet has blutooth HID listed, the 4.2 kernel doesn't have it enabled, and my 4.0 *does* have it enabled. In the 4.0 it's configured as a module, but you could try getting away with linking it directly in your kernel just in case the 4.2's init scripts/ueventd doesn't load it.
If you need help doing this let me know in a PM.

Thanks!

Hi,
I've tried connecting Android to various other BT scanners before (using the SPP) and have not had problems. But I'm struggling on the RS unit.
What I normally do is on other scanners is turn pairing on for the scanner, connect and pair to the unit from the phone. Then start my application on the phone, which initiates the connection to the scanner and connects. Then I can read from the scanner and all works well.
On the RS this seems different, as you don't seem to put the RS in pair mode and connect to it. instead the process seems to be to scan a barcode on/for the device (with MAC id?) and the RS connects?
Either way, I have not managed to get this to work.
Can someone provide me with the correct process to connect the RS to an android device in SPP mode?
Any help or working code example would be much appreciated!
Hi all,
Having a little issue and was wondering if anyone could come up with a work around. I am currently using my Razr with a Pionner appradio 2 running ARLiberator. Everything is working great except the bluetooth pairing request. Everytime the device attempts to make a secure connection with the Razr it ask for a pairing request on the phone that last for about 2 seconds. I have attempt to automate the accepting of the dialog with Tasker but the dpad action is too slow to hit the "Pair" button in time. I have also tried using Keyevents through execute plugin through tasker with the same results. I remember on my Incredible 2 that I could set a device as "trusted" or something like that so it didnt ask every time I connected. I havent been able to try CM9/10 or AKOP because the Appradio requires HDMI to function.
Can anyone come up with a way to automated accepting the Pair request, or does anyone know where I might be able edit a file to set a device as "trusted" even through the menu option isnt available through blueooth settings?
Thanks,
Cyro

Homesync Root
Hi I tried following the instructions in this forum for rooting my homesync with saferoot and I have not succeeded. I tried MJ3 and MH8 software to no avail. The script gets stuck in "trying to disable knox". Any help is appreciated.
Anybody know if there's a workaround to enable Bluetooth audio on the Homesync?
Forgotten Screen Lock Password - want to reset the HomeSync
I've forgotten the password to the lockscreen on my HomeSync and there's no way to recover it. I don't really care about the data on the device, but I'd like to start over with it by resetting.
I've tried using Odin and downloading various firmware... The user data hasn't been erased to include movies, files, and the password as well. It just boots to the lockscreen but I can still access files via the Homesync app.
I've tried using Android Device Manager to remotely wipe it and it's not setup. I've tried entering the wrong password multiple times to get to a "lost password" via my gmail but that doesn't work either. It simply makes me wait 30 seconds after each set of 5 failed attempts. It never asks for my Google Account info.
My next step is adb, but I don't recall enable USB debugging. I've downloaded JDK and SDK, opened a command line and ran "adb devices"... it starts a server but no devices are listed when my HomeSync is connected via USB. My drivers are loaded and I also have Kies installed on my PC that has no problem seeing the HomeSync and tells me to unlock it before continuing with Kies.
I've been after this for about 2 weeks, reading this forum and trying to find a way to fix it, but now I'm at the point that I need to ask questions and get some help.
XBOX 360 PC controller working with Samsung Homesync! Need Help With Bluetooth PS3 C
First off I would like to give big thanks to everyone here on the boards, secondly I’m proud to announce I have successfully rooted my GT-B9150 Samsung Homesync (MH8 firm).
I have a XBOX 360 PC controller (Wireless USB Dongle) working!
(I still have not tested with MAME4droid, still downing “MAME 0.139 ROMs-Flood” @ alt.binaries.emulators.mame)
Microsoft Bluetooth Sculpt Comfort Mouse working!
Microsoft Bluetooth Wedge Mobile Keyboard working!
I would like to know if anyone has a method of adding a Bluetooth Garmin Android GPS to the Homesync? I would also like to add a Bluetooth MIC if possible for Google Maps and I would like to use a PS3 Bluetooth controller if possible.
My reasoning behind this, I am installing the Homesync via HDMI to 10” touch screen head unit in my work truck for mobile computing, Neutron HD-Flac music spinning and GPS Mapping.
My Homesync has 120 volt AC to 12 volt DC transformer. I am thinking of wiring Homesync directly to dash accessory 12DC feed but am currently using a line convertor for now.
Thanks for any input!
Do you have more details? I want similar scenario. I have investigated about 6 months ago and do not believe a touch screen will work due to low level and maybe drivers. There are some GPS USB dingle that are said to work about 100USDollar. I already have Xenarc touchscreen installed in vehicle as well as the GPS USB above. Just waiting for some drivers etc. I resolved to be able to use a mini keyboard pointer that natively works with Bt on HomeSync unmodified. I have mini microphone that I believe will work ok ... don't know about car road noise though.
Please, how did you achieve the root and what do you use for GUI/launcher, the TouchWiz ... nah

P.S. The reason I think about using as mobile device is that this HomeSync ducks to use with Sam HomeSync app. Never got it to work even with support. Gave up for that purpose.
My head unit in my truck has touch screen but no support for HDMI input and touch, so for now I am stuck using Bluetooth keyboard/mouse and the Samsung screen mirroring app(s). I was able to sync my Samsung Note 3, but I think after I rooted I lost that function.
I just ordered a GlobalSat Bu-353-S4 USB GPS that has been tested using other android devices and is said to be working. Here is the link I used to download apps and found USB GPS dongle recommendations. http://usglobalsat.com/forum/index.php?topic=4361.0
I will surely ck tomorrow to let you know if I get it working with Samsung Homesync and Google Maps.
As for rooting the Homsync, I just followed the instructions found on this board. I had the latest firmware installed out of the box…here is a link to instructions I followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2497102&page=7
I also followed same instructions on how to enable play store, works flawlessly and I can reboot without loosing ability to continue using Play Store Rooted
I’ve installed Nova Launcher to customize look and home screen feel, I currently have the Samsung GUI hidden and my Homesync looks and feels a lot like my Note 3 now!!!
Wow! Thank you so much!
GlobalSat Bu-353-S4 USB GPS Working With Homesync & Google Maps!!!
Here is a follow up my my Samsung Homesync and GPS with Google Maps. I purchased a GlobalSat Bu-353-S4 USB GPS for $50 with overnight shipping included on Amazon
After tinkering and making a few changes I am especially happy to report that I am able to use the BU-353-S4 with Google Maps! I had to enable Mock USB Host under Settings/Developer Options/Allow Mock Locations on the Samsung Homesync. Under PL2303-GPS Mock Location Provider Setup I have Navilock (on) & Baudrate 4800 (checked)…working great!
My truck home screen on samsung homesync
A big thanks to everyone on the board's!
I have this USB purchased and installed in dashboard, planning to purchase and use another dongle, but now will use the HomeSync.
I have another update to my configuration…I had a problem with my power inverter not powering up the Homesync so I now have the Homesync wired directly to my dash key accessory. This way I will never forget to manually turn off the Homesync and will not drain my battery.
I made sure to test the power supply brick that came with the Homesync; it shows 12.5 volts DC on my multimeter!!!
I also ran into a small issue with Google Maps that I had not anticipated. You need to have internet connectivity to search and rout with Google Maps. Yesterday I was searching for an address and had to stop at McDonalds for free Wi-Fi. Once I mapped out my destination I was able to GPS the entire rout with turns with no Wi-Fi connected.
I have downloaded Sygic Navigation for Android Offline. I am able to use my USB GPS with this app and its uses familiar Tom Tom maps but I am still learning the interface so im not sure if I will keep using it. It’s defiantly not as simple and effective as Google maps but seems solid for use in a pinch with no internet connection.
One more issue I have with the Homesync installed in my truck is that the unit gets very hot if you don’t allow for some type of cooling. I had the very small homesync sitting in my center arm rest console running for a couple hours and found it to be super duper hot in 60 degree weather. Temps rise to mid 90’s during the summer time here in Detroit Mi, so I need to rethink my mounting location and possibly add some additional cooling.
Good points
Stuck on bootloop after odin
Hi,
I have a samsung homesync (gt-b9150) and I try upgrade firmware to MJ3. After I upgrade with odin, the device start a bootloop. Is there a fix for this?
Thanks
Could someone please help me transfer a new SSD 1T drive to my Homesync successfully?
Thanks to this forum I am pleased to announce I have successfully rooted my Homesync!
I recently opened the case and have removed the internal 1T hard drive. I made an attempt to clone the drive using Clonzzilla with no luck (tried disc to disc and disc to image). I formatted a new Crucial SSD 1T to ext4 and installed into Homesync with no luck (Homesync boots up fine, but shows no external storage)
Thank you for this info. I must admit I am confused by your post. You say 'no luck', but you say 'successful' ? Thanks
Hi there I am new to rooting though would like to minimise the chances of bricking my homesync. I've tried to follow the instructions on how to root my device to no avail as the first link to the firmware is showing a page not found. Are the instructions still applicable? Will other methods work such as towel root? Thank you.

Hi there,
I cannot get my Universal Bluetooth Mobile Keyoard to work with my Sony Xperia Tablet Z. Sometimes it will ask for a code, and before I can enter it an error message pops up saying "cannot communicate with device". Other times I am able to enter the code with no errors, however, key presses are not registered at all on the tablet.
The most confusing part about this problem is that my Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard works perfectly well with my tablet. And what's more, when the Wedge keyboard is connected, the bluetooth module in quick settings displays the Wedge kayboard name. While, when the Universal keyboard is connected, the bluetooth module in the quick settings doesn't seem to pick it up. I have also tried using both keyboards with my Nexus 5 running Android 5.0, and both keyboard work fine. Even more confusion!
It's important to note that while trying to connect either device, I've unpaired the other from the tablet. Basically, only one keyboard is paired with my tablet at any given instance. Therefore, this is not the issue.
I've heard that there was a bug in 4.3 Jellybean which caused some connectivity issues with bluetooth devices. My tablet is running a Cyanogenmod 4.4.4 Kit-Kat ROM, so that issue shouldn't be present here (at least, I think...)
Has anyone encountered this problem before, or have a solution?
Cheers!

I think it is an issue of CM. Try stock ROM or CM12.
