Viewpad 7a 'Enhanced' (RC1)
Viewpad 7a is a quick and dirty modification of the stock firmware from Viewsonic. This should be a decent alternative to the stock image, with improved performance and appearance.
Highlights:
- Removed the 'Welcome' logo and replaced with stock android boot animation.
- Replaced stock boot image with overclocked version: Credit goes to TJ Style @ Modaco.
- Minor framework modifications (got rid of annoying white status bar, and misc images).
- All packaged applications remain, but I will add or remove any upon request.
- Enabled hardware acceleration.
Notes:
- Firmware should work with compatible devices such as: Cherry Mobile Superion, Commtiva Linx N700, Olivepad VT-100, Spice MI700, and Camangi FM600....but I do not have these devices, so I cannot verify. As always make a backup before installing any custom firmwares.
Known Issues:
- You may receive an error from Swype upon initial use to the effect that 'it's not meant for this firmware and may be limited'. I haven't had any issues since seeing this, and have disregarded it for the time being.
- Root condition has been known to intermittently go away. Remedy this by running Super One Click again after you've flashed the ROM.

I'm currently working on a Vanilla AOSP port of Gingerbread for this device, and this will be the main focus of my effort. I will try my best to answer any bug reports or requests for changes to this firmware, but won't make any promises.
As always a big thanks to everyone in the Android community that shares they're knowledge and support.
To install this firmware use ClockworkMod to flash the zip file. (I use version 2.5.1.2). Information on rooting and installing an alternative recovery partition is available here.

Update (August 22nd, 2011): I've deactivated the download link until I get time to put out a better update with ITE support.
If I am not wrong this device is similar to Commtiva N700/ Spice Mi-700/ Olive Pad VT-100.
Nice to hear someone taking the initiative for development on this device
I've added the compatible devices I'm aware of to the first post. I may take advantage of CM scripting in the Gingerbread port. Will update when I have time. I've attached a screenshot from the froyo firmware below if anyone is interested.
I've been using it for the past two days without any issues. I borrowed a SIM card from a friend today to test the data connectivity and call function. Both work flawlessly. The battery life isn't as good with the CPU overclocked, but it's worth it for the extra boost of performance.
I was planning to get this device with my first salary which is few months from now
BTW, To make things easier you can use Cyanogen 7 which I think is having support for similar hardware.
Can MeeGo 1.2 be ported for this Device?
It will be releasing this April.

Looks good.
But I prefer Android with its vanilla looks.
Can LCD density be used with this Tablet? does it work?
Please check that out.
Nice to see someone finally making a custom ROM for this device. Would be nice to have something like HyperDroidGBX for the HD2 using AOSP, Redux, CyanogenMod.... that's one hell of a nice piece of Gingerbread.
Hopefully the Viewpad 7 will get its own sub-forum and your ROM will be the first in it.
Cheers!

I don't know enough about MeeGo to comment, but I imagine it is possible...just not sure how feasible or worthwhile it would be to port it.

I think if there's enough community interest XDA may create a dedicated forum for these devices. We'll see.
Thank you for your work. On the Russian forum owners viewpad 7 Your beginnings of this work has generated enormous interest. Would you in their versions of the firmware to include more locations? Good luck in your work. Sorry for the English.

Adding a Russian keyboard and locales would not be difficult if you know of another ROM that is using them in Froyo, or perhaps someone has them on a repo somewhere?
Great to see this!
I just bought a Viewpad for my wife, so this is perfect!

I have clockworkmod recovery installed, works, and overclock boot.img installed works too.
My VIEWPAD 7 has still stock ROM with Chinese handwriting touch, if I flash this custom ROM, do I loss Chinese handwriting function ?
Does all wifi, bluetooth, GPS, 3G network, multi-touch remain the same ?
Also, I am looking for App2SD script, to extend my internal /data/apps -> mSD card (ext2/3/4) paritition too.
thanks, cheers

I order a viewpad 7 from amazon on saturday. I had some concern about it and was wondering if I made the right choice. Now that I see that you are working on increasing its performance, I feel comfortable with my choice now.
I install gappinstaller v5 on a archos 70 and 101 with no problem by following the step by step direction. I dont have my viewpad 7 as yet but I hope the installation goes smoothly. I donate
I flashed it to a WellcoM A800 and the GSM radio doesn't work anymore. Whatever I do it indicates that I'm in airplane mode. I tried with three different SIM cards with the same result.
Please advise...
Thanks

The ViewPad finally arrived this morning. Got it all rooted, CWM'd and the ROM installed.
Nice work!
The wife will love it when she gets home tonight!
I'll definately let you know if I come up with any suggestions.
Well, one suggestion now:
move all the non-essential apps from system to data so they're easily removable.
Actually I can do that myself in a little bit...
Looking forward to Gingerbread!
Thanks again!
Hi everyone, i am new at this forum and android devices, i searched for 2 days but cannot find exact answers for my problem
I bought an iphone 4s clone which the seller said that name is Gooapple V5 3G, android 2.3.5 is installed on it, but when i installed antutu benchmark and look at the system info, it is written:
Phone Model:
Parrot
Brand:
Mediatek
CPU Hardware:
MT6573
CPU Model:
ARMv6 Processor
CPU Frequency:
634.06 MHz
Screen Resolution:
320x480
......
Android Version:
2.3.5
Build Number:
ALPS.GB.FDD2.MP.V3.9
Kernel:
Linux version 2.6.35.7 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) #1 PREEMPT Thu Jun 28 14:01:43 CST 2012
and when i push '-' and power button together first Mediatek appears and after choosing version:
BB Chip: MT6573
MS Board. : lightning73_gg
Modem Ver. : MAUI.11AMD.W11.37.SP.V2, 2011/10/14 02.55
UBoot Ver. : 2010.06
......
is written.
First of all i am looking a rom which is android 4 for this phone. I searched for that and i saw that there are some phones with android 4.0 which has the MT6573 cpu. Do you know are there any rom like this which i can install on it? Are gooapple v5 3g roms compatible to this phone?
Also i installed the usb drivers for this phone and rooted the device, but i cant reach the sd card from pc, in my computer there occurs a removable device but not accesible. What is the solution of this?
Thanks
first of all, there are no mt6573 based smartphones out there, running android 4.0 . maybe someone is porting ICS to the mt6573, but right now i can not find 4.0 for it. there are phones put there with faked Android version, such as 4.0.9 or something.
yes, you can install different Roms on your device, but you have to port them first.
I have no answer for your question, maybe the SD card has a switch for read only?
i used wrong rom and lost the system of the device, now i need correct rom, is there anyone who has correct rom of this?

i know this but this device is not gooapple
ahh sorry, my fault. i just flight over your post, it was late. mybe some aditional informaton ( pictures of the phone, the back, the back without battery...
those version numbers or names can be faked easily, it is hard to say what phone you have with the given information. greets, chris
you have to reflash your stock firmware.
i found the rom that works correct but i dont like ios interface on it. now i m looking for a rom which has android interface
use this tool to backup your current working firmware:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683883
and upload your Rom somewhere ( i only need boot.img and system.img ). I'm interested in the IOS interface and i can port almost all available mt6573 ROM's to your device.
I am currently working on a custom Rom with Cyanogenmod Settings,DSP manager, ICS themed , ext2 support and much more.
if you are interested, i can make you a flashable zipfile.
w w w.4shared-china.com/rar/GyMPoJuc/mt6375-236gps_backup.html
this is the rom i m using on my phone, all .img files in it
i dont like ios interface because it has lots of differences from real ios interface, text characters, icons, menus have lots of mistakes
and also roms for this device work too slow, is it possible to make lite and android gui custom rom for this device?
look at the pictures in my last post, this is a custom ROM made by me. the Mt6573 isn't that fast, but i tried to make a fast ROM for it.
it is working pretty fast right now, no chinese apps and a lot of customization you can do . there are a lot of ROM's out there, some are good, some are pretty bad. like i said, i can make a flashable zip for your device, so you can try out my ROM.
i can try if you can make a zip for me, this would really help me
also i have another problem with the rom which i gave the link of it, the network problem
if the gsm signal become too low, restricted access changed - voice service blocked error occurs, in my home and office signal is too low so i cant use the phone, do you know any solution for this?
i will make one asap, maybe your networking problems are gone with my ROM. im from Germany, have no problems here with the signal at all.
maybe your smartphone is just ****ed up, we will see later.
you got these problem too, before you got the new ROM? maybe the Baseband drivers are wrong or something...
Press VOL + and power toegether, what Recovery shows up? a standart mediatek one or do you already have a custom recovery?
i didnt use the phone with sim card before this rom so i dont know
recovery screen is standard mediatek
there you go! this is a clockworkmod recovery for your phone. just flash it with Flashtool and try it out! flashing a new rom becomes pretty easy with it. hope it will work, give me a quick response if it isn't working.
edit:
some minor tips: dont flash the preloader in any case, this could damage your phone, if it is the wrong one!!!
and always make a backup of the existing images!
i flashed with flashtool and didnt flashed preloader, dsp_bl, changed the recovery.img with the one you gave, nothing changed same ios gui, did i do something wrong?
do you have whole new rom for this device which includes all the image files in it? the one i shared here is too slow and some problems
the file i given you is ONLY the recovery, after flashing try it out with phone off and hold VOL+ and POWER, the recovery screen shows up with clockworkmod recovery.
the fully rom ( including boot.img and system.img) needs more work, i haven't the time to do it yet. just give me a day for it. porting a Rom to a diffrent screenresolution needs more work, cause my device is 480x800 pixels, yours only 320x480. i have to say, there can be some failures because of the different resolution, but this can be fixed easily.
the custom recovery i gave you is necessary for flashing new roms easily.
Hi, I'm fairly new to this rooting business -- but successfully did so with a Huawei G300 (CM10.1-R3) ; now wish to explore doing so with my Huawei U8652 -- but there're not the same "easy" guides as there are with the G300
BUT
have used ROM Manager to install CWM on the phone after having rooted it -- but the version ROM Manager installed was 4.0.1.5
--
the latest version mentioned in discussions I've seen of upgrading the ROM on this phone is 5.2.7
for the G300 I downloaded 6.0.2 -- which isn't without its problems it seems (seems to interfere with Google Now, though I'm too much of a newbie to say why this could be -- I'm not the only one with the problem however, going by the posts on the CM site
the procedure for rooting and installing a new ROM on the G300 installed 6.0.1 initially, which I upgraded to 6.0.2 by flashing zip file - that earlier version isn't without its probs either -- OTA upgrades don't work properly, but Google Now seems NOT to be interfered with at least
could I
go through the procedure for the G300, from the stage where it installs the bootloader and CWM?
install the newer version despite its problems with Google Now?
are these versions "compatible" with the Huawei 8652?
install some other version -- I've found links to 5.2 but none of the links seem to work
There is no such universal CWM.
Cheers.
Sent from my Sony Xperia Ray Smartphone.
thanks -- what I was afraid of, but ...

thanks for the prompt reply -- that's what I was afraid, and it sure pays to be careful
speaking of which, sometimes you have to take a punt
don't know what it's reputation is like, but I've found what appears to be a listing of relevant files' links to storage sites FileCrop -- though it's hard to know exact details of what they are just from an abbreviated name, and the names don't really link on Google to any discussion of them
Sheesh!!
thanks again
Hello,
i recently bought a smartphone from Ali.
It's a MPIE M15 with MTK6595 (CPU-z is agree). Here's the specs :
Android Version : 5.0.0
Baseband : MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V43, 2014/09/17 10:10
Kernel : 3.4.67 [email protected] #1
Build Number : A100-HYDY 20150627-155331
Custom Build Version : 1435391497
Hardware : mt6595
After test, it's already rooted, i can access to Android Recovery.
The problem is that the installed rom is a Chinese Android version.
i want to install the factory Android Lollipop, but i cant find any version for my phone.
CyanogenMod installation via recovery have a OTA error..
So with my specs, is that possible to run another rom, like the Official Android (5.1?) and how to do it?
Thanks for your answer
Update
I understand that i have to install a custom recovery, but now i have a new problem..
MTK Droid Tools says the hardware is fake in Kernel or Firmware rolleyes not corresponding to the phone..
How to format all the phone, i want the Android Official Firmware on it, how to do that please ?..
OK MTK Droid Tools recognize my phone now. I do the backup for a custom TWRP recovery. if anyone know a link the original image of android .zip, thank you to tell me..

Please write if you find the program Im interested in purchasing that phone, but don't want to learn chinese
By the way, how that phone looks like in real life? All options works normally?
Hello, after two days working on the phone, i'm almost there.
First, this phone is faking his own components.
It's sold for a MTK6595, in fact it's a MTK6572. Same for Android, it's KitKat, not Lollipop. Not sure about the RAM (maybe 2Go). 1 virus app (AVG). Chinese stuff installed. I bought it 85$ from Ali (i understand now^^). The Camera is sh**, really! (but photo is not a prob for me).
Im not an experimented dev, the phone seems to be block somewhere, it's very hard to launch a custom recovery. I extracted the Stock ROM with MTK Droid Tools.
Finally, I install a custom recovery after a day of search, the Carvil Touchscreen and make it stable for the mPie. Now i want to install a Custom Rom on it, after replace the boot.img from Stock to Port, i have to modify the kernel, i will see..
If i managed a custom rom to get worked, i will post a tuto, if someones are interested
i continue :cyclops:

How to install a genuine kernel to a MT6572 (MT6595 is fake) ?
Thanks
Hello. I also bought the phone. now we have to change the firmware. if you have the opportunity to specify where to get the firmware for this phone?
Hello XDA Community,
long time not see..., anyway, i just learned how to root, customized my phone with PussyFap2.5 (Custom Rom) to look like the Android Lollipop 5.0.1 Update. And there one little problem starts to begin. I have the exact same phone, you can call it Mircomax A104 or just Canvas Fire 2. My Android Version was 4.4.2 since i got the Phone. The only problem was, that it had NEVER any Android Update. So i just googled a little bid and found this Custom ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-*****-fap-v2-5-fire-2-t3104349).
My Questions
1. When i go to Setting --> Android Version it say's "5.0.1" and on Model Number "Android One", so my question is, is my Version now still the same (4.4.2) or is it really 5.0.1, cause I don't think so (just a Custom ROM). About the Model Number we dont need to talk  it's still the one and only A104.
2. On the Original ROM, so when i got the phone fresh out of the package, Vanilla Android 4.4.2. It had on Settings --> Keyboard and Input --> an Application where there was 20 Indian Languages. But ufortunately I dont know it's name or anything about it. I want only this App and no other like Swiftkey, or a cheap App on the PlayStore, because this Keyboard was so good.
3. I found a lilttle "HINT" on question 3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5g9WihZf0Y This guy uses this Keyboard, whats it's name please?
Sincerely
Los Kirat
Use Xperia keyboard its simple and easy to use and also has various features in it
Well hello XDA community members and enthusiastic developers.
Well I flashed the ***** FAP ROM v2.5 for Micromax A104 and there are some problems.
1.the touch interface is working opposite. I.e if you touch on the down right then the notification bar pops out.
Any fix for this issue
