Hi,
I am unable to unlock my HTC EVO 3D.
It's currently running : RUU_Shooter_U_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.22.707.2_Radio_10.55.9020.00_10.13.9020.29_M_release_207422_signed
I've gone to the htcdev site, submitted the identifier token; received the unlock_code.bin file; followed their instruction and got this :
C:\Android>fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.143s]
writing 'unlocktoken'...
FAILED (remote: unlock token check failed)
finished. total time: 0.150s
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've also tried using a GoldCard thinking I could load another region's RUU but didn't work either
I've tried almost everything and so I am turning to the xda gurus. Please help

mine cant be unlock again after htc replaced the board. many user had this problem too.
I am facing the same problem. Any other solution?
You can try to run the RUU first and then try to unlock it again. It solves most problems
I'm having the same problem HBOOT versiyon 1.49.0018 Do not have a solution ?
Did you managed to unlock it ? Mine also came back from HTC repair (after bricking it ), and I cannot unlock it for the same reason : 'unlock token check failed'
Why are u trying it the way use rev.io

It's so easy to get s-off now that you should just do that really. It also allows for more reliable flashing of ICS ROMs than s-on.

u got the supported hboot by rev ??? mine was 1.49.00011
I am having the same problem, i have my board replaced because of Frequent BOOT LOOPS
after that i am not able to unlock the boot loader. Even i tried to install the Latest Asian RUU in my phone it gave me error. 131 Customer Code do not match
Then i went to fastboot and just gave command
for changing the cid, and it worked! without evan unlocking the bootloader
before my cid was 038, now in CID Getter it shows 001, So hopefully that worked
and after that again i tried to run the RUU but still the same error!
So dont know now what to do ?

I used this guide to crack the bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471246
In this guide it says first we have have to bootloader but, just skip that part.
Temp Root your phone with automated scripts (HTC Super Tool V3)
And then you do as the guide says. It is working
My bootloader was locked too. After downgrading your phone, just unlock the bootloader with Revolutionary Method.
Then install 4EXT Recovery. And then you can install custom Roms.
Solution for your problem?

Anyone? Anything? Anyone get past the unlock token check fail?
Noticed your unlock_code.bin says 0kb (mine is about 4kb on disk). You may need to get a new unlock code or redownload it from your email. If you still have problems & you're stuck at HTC's step 13, you'll have to rerun the RUU and try the unlock again. With S-On, there isn't a way to run the 2.08 RUU if you've already done the 2.17 update.
I have a guide/flashing notes in my signature that may clear some things up if you want to have a look.
thanks for the reply..i tried those and nothing...i emailed htc they "say" they are working on an update to fix the unlock problem..idk how long that it will take..hopefully a dev will come up with a better way then the htc way
I'm also having the same problem with my friends phone. I get like three different outputs when I try doing the last command to unlock. It goes from saying it's successful and writing to unlock failed to something else then loops over again (trying the same command over and over). Tried running the 2.08 RUU but it won't accept it. Does anyone have a link to the 2.17 RUU? Or is there any way to downgrade to 2.08? This is really bugging me, I hate how much HTC has complicated things compared to the one click root days
See the link in my signature to get the 2.17 Ruu

Idk about the OP, but I did. I did everything exactly the same as when I rooted my phone except my friends has the 2.17 software and mine had 2.08. Does the HTC unlock not support 2.17 or what?
you need to downgrade the ruu software number to 2.08.651.2 otherwise you wont be able to do it

That link doesn't appear to work. And I tried using the 2.08 RUU and it failed to work. Something about version mismatch or authentication failed. And I heard a few other users say the HTC unlock worked for them with 2.17.

The RUU exe is what everyone uses to get it to work.. You run that from hboot ... I don't know if the exe will run on mac since I run windows 7. I would see if mac users use it? I don't wanna say run something and it cause you more issues man since your using a mac ... The only fix I know is that RUU works every time...

You used the same token as before? If you have then there you got the reason why it is not working.
You have an new motherboard so you should have an new unlock token to.
Sometimes the unlock process won't work. Just install the RUU if you are having issues, and then try to unlock it and you will be successful.
Here is the link for the RUU: http://www.multiupload.com/09NOXKCUN0
EDIT: Mult-upload is down. I fogot. lol. The name of the RUU is 2.08.651.2 Install that and then try unlocking again.

You are having issues because the motherboard changed by htc was preloaded with 2.17.651.5 and some of the phones preloaded with this SW number have issues.

i just bought a used evo 3d (have 2 more in the house also)
its running latest stock, unrooted rom
2.95.651.6
the problem is (like so many others) htc-dev unclock code is not unlocking the code in fastboot like it did with my other phones running same firmware
this is a common problem but not sure how to fix
all i want to really do is probable flash this firmware here "RUU_Shooter_ICS_35_S_Sprint_WWE_2.89.651.2_Radio_1.09.00.0706__NV_NV_SPCS_1.43_release_271101_signed"
then do the OTA again so i can then try to fastboot my unclock_code again
unless someone knows exactly what i need to do in the current state of the phone....
i have done ##786# and factory reset from hboot
nothing is working.

Yeah I took that OTA update too and I'm kinda stuck. I can't seem to find anything that I can flash to make it work. Does anyone have a zip of the RUU and can you use the method where you put it on the root of the SD and rename it to flash an earlier version? Thank you for the reply. Is there any method for getting s-off without root because everything I've tried for root has failed (htcdev, wraiths temproot, srs root, etc, it's a long list). But if there's a way to skip straight to s-off that would be awesome. most of the phones i had were s-off as well. is there one? I have a linux system if it's are need for any methods.

I just tried to unlock the bootloader of my Desire 610 through HTCDev but it does not work for me.

The phone restarts, does a hard reset but when I go to bootloader to check, it still says "Locked".
Weird because I do not get any error message. The entire process (10 steps) goes straight forward.
It just won't unlock no matter how many times I try.

i tryed to pop up "unlock bootloader" menu and it works with .bin but i dont have time yet to do backup of my current data so i could test if it realy works(since you lose all data when you unlock bootloader)..
my device is @ 1.18.401 software number and i recieved 1.31.401 update at start of this week because htc rolled out updates for m8 too..
dont want to update yet cuz i want to try root and flash twrp and try to make image of 1.18 so i could share it here. then do the same with 1.31..
i got some expirience of flashing mine old xperia x8 and some more htc models from friends..
if anyone got some tips what is best way to get original image of htc's 4.4.2 kitkat just PM me. i need little help..
best regards from Croatia
We have a twrp build that works also?

Eagerly awaiting your experience.
Hi.
So, somebody unlocked it?
P.S what model are u choose on HTCdev, htc one or other models?
Cheers.
He advised me he used the " Desire *" method, however the star indicates that it flashes the bootloader from the original htc desire to your device. Until we get confirmation that nothing is broken and it actually works as intended, I cannot yet recommend this method. If you're in dire need for some reason, feel free to try it, but don't hold them liable if something goes wrong. I'm in contact with htc dev team right now awaiting a response on the proper way to unlock. If I get no response, we'll try this method perhaps.
Yes, I managed to unlock it with HTCDev. I used HTC Desire* as device.

So, now we can push superuser and install cwm or twrp trough the adb using for example, strawmetal guide, right?
Cheers.
If you wanna try that method, I suppose. We don't have an official method for any of that yet, nor do we have a recovery build to flash or a way to flash superuser. Nor do we have a way to elevate adb to root to allow that installation yet.
So in essence, no. But if you're willing to risk your device also, try the unlock method Nixing used lol.
Confirmed
Yeup using the HTC Desire* has done the trick after hours of searching last night I decided to use the HTCdev way and it worked 1st time no problems !!!!!!! next up Root...
Good deal. I'd still avoid that though, and use the "all other supported devices" instead. The star means it loads a different bootloader. The desire and desire 610 are not the same device, and that could be very bad. The all other supported devices option does not load a new bootloader. Unless perhaps they go by the device unlock code you provide and it can tell you don't have a desire.
Fair enough...I have successfully rooted my device too.

I´m having no luck
tried both
Desire * and
"all other supported devices"
Code:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
< waiting for device >
sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.138s]
writing 'unlocktoken'...
(bootloader) unlock token check successfully
OKAY [ 0.010s]
finished. total time: 0.148s
Still says *** LOCKED ***
