Yesterday i got my $11 bookcase cover for my beloved 7.7, it fits the tab nicely and it has a "built in" stand so that you can use the tablet as for example a mediaplayer. Only downside, that I can see now with this type of stand, is that you need to have the tablet wrong way around (connector to the left, instead of right) when you want to use it as a type-stand, but thats not a big deal for me atleast.
The inside of the lid and backside are dressed in thin felt to not scratch the tab.
the plastic seems alittle thinner than on similar cases and that way you have a smaller risk getting the flash to reflect in the plastic when taking pictures.
It was quite cheap compared to the OEM bookcase covers that are out there, as I didnt "buy it now", the delivery was 5 workingdays from Hong Kong to Sweden.
I dont think i have ever gotten something from Hong Kong to Sweden that fast
So how do you like it? Would you reccomend it? How is the stand, does it feel like it will break or something?
I've been looking for something like this and I really like the look of this.. and the OEM ones are soooo expensive, as you say..

I am happy with it, and the stand seems sturdy enough.
And I would recomend it, remember to check out the rest of the colours also
Nice case, i have orderd one thx för the pic

I purchased one of these and thought it was pretty good value. It looks nice on the tab (I had an orange one) and I didn't have any of the fit problems that others reported in the other thread. The stand worked great for my needs and the material it's made out of has a really nice feel to it too.
I did have a couple of minor gripes though.
1) There's nothing to keep the cover closed. Not a big deal if you just want the screen protected while it's in a bag or whatever.
2) The panel forms the bottom most part of the stand was always picking up dirt from whatever I set it down on and then carrying it back on to the screen when I closed it. I started to notice tiny abrasions on my screen protector from it.
I've since switched to a different case but still think this one was pretty good for the money.

Hey,
I was actually thinking about buying one of these. Is there anyone here, who uses one and can give me a short review about the pros and cons? I'm just looking for some case, which doesn't add too much bulkness, but still protects the phone.
Cheers

I use some silicone case atm, but it feels very bulky and not that safe. As of now, it isn't hard to access the usb-port, but I dunno bout the alumor case though.
I've been using a Capdase Alumor case since I got my X10 so I can't compare with anything else, but I think it's a great case.
It adds a bit of weight (as you'd expect from an all metal/rubber case) but I like that because it makes the phone feel more solid. Phone's been dropped from '8 year old daughter' height, and survived with no damage to the phone and only a slight scrape on the back of the case.
It's fairly easy to get the phone in and out of the case if you need to, but there's no real need. All of the X10's buttons are covered with rubber, but they all work fine. You have unrestricted access to the USB socket. Access to the 3.5 mm jack socket is very slightly restricted because the rubber has a bevel around the hole for some reason (strength I guess), but this is only an issue if you have a really thick plastic bit on your headphone jacks (my Sennheiser CX300s fit fine )
I was concerned about the rubber coming away from the metal on one part of the case, but it's not got any worse since I got it, so I guess it's ok. Rubber seems to be holding up well to regular 'in and out of pocket' use.
All in all, I'd recommend this case (and no I don't work for Capdase ). I got mine from Mobilefun in the UK and they're great (no, I don't work for them either!). They seem very cheap in that link above - watch out for fakes!!!
EDIT: Oh, and no problem opening the USB plastic cap (no harder than it is anyway, that is)
That thing looks pretty thick !!
I dont know if u like your phone looking and feeling thick, bc i got this clear plastic case and it makes the phone feel really chunky in my hand and not to mention the metal casing in the ebay picture looks thicker then my plastic case. but the case looks good tho just letting u know u might not like the feel.
LOL , It's almost an Otterbox clone HA HA HA HA
How do you know if its fake? I'm currently using one.

No idea, but the cases in the link above are <$5 and the one I bought was ~£15.
Now, maybe I got screwed on price, but if they're that cheap it would make me suspicious.
At the end of the day, I guess it doesn't really matter as long as the case is good quality and protects the phone. If you get it for $5, then you're a winner
Allright I'll take a shot. We'll see where I buy it from, but still being aware of possible fakes I'll probably buy on Mobilefun. Well as for the bulk and phone feeling thick, I'll see that once it arrives, the weight doesn't matter to me as long as it's protected.
Review!
Give us a review of the case if u get it thnks!! i would like to find a better case since i really cant find many in local stores.

Sorry to bring up a fairly old topic, but I figured its still better than to make a new one.
Can anyone post some pictures of this case fitting on their x10?
All the images on the internet were just sample images, I could not tell how it looks like in real.
I'm looking to buy a white one to put on my black X10, really would like to know how that would look, thanks
Alumor pictures
I have had this case since 12/2010. The one piece aluminium case wraps the sides & bottom & is completely lined with rubber extending to include the retaining rim. The case goes on & off very easily. The seal is very tight on the phone. I carry the phone on construction jobs with alot of dust, but no damage to the phone. All buttons press easily & 3.5 jack, USB , speaker, camera lens all have cutouts.
I have had to superglue some of the rubber along the edges once but not since & the case back is more slick than the phone back, making it tough to palm, but with pinky finger practice (supporting bottom of phone) is easily overcome. The metal case is very durable & takes drops well. The case does add bulk but is minimal for the metal protection & still goes in&out of pocket well. I still use the phone both with and without the case.
I paid $25.11 US including shipping from Hong kong to Ohio, USA.

Thanks for the review and photos, I am sure you are the first to post the photos of the product in so many angles. It's helpful to some of us.
Capdase is actually one of some reliable companies here in SEA.
I am using their flip-top leather case, thinking of getting alumor metal whenever I want to travel light.
i bought this case last friday in hk for HKD 98 (ie USD 12.6002)
it's a great case but i felt a bit bulky
so i remove the backcover of x10
and my phone is as slim as before!!!
this morning i received the case, is very beautiful.
cool! looking forward to get one!
I agree with prior post. Remove the back cover for a thinner phone. Case is still tight also.

edit: It sure looks like polyurethane, but I guess their description says it has a "canvas like" stylish exterior. Not PU Leather like i assumed.
Update: Just got it in the mail. Took about a week or so, not too bad. However I can't say the same for the case. In my opinion its total crap.
The material on the outside of the case is anyones guess. It looks and feels like a combination of canvas and polyurethane faux leather. The whole thing is monstrous, measuring in at 12" wide x 11" long x 1" thick (when compressed and empty) You can only fit the Transformer in the case in one direction because of the velcro placement. Once you get your tablet inside the case it does feel like it would be very safe. The extra 2-3 inches of fabric hanging from either side of the device adds some extra protection but also makes the whole thing absurdly large. And to top it off the whole thing smells very strongly of DRY ERASE MARKERS!
All said and done 5 bucks was overpaying for this. They probably have them marked so low because nobody buys them. But if you absolutely need a case and your local Value Village Thrift doesnt have something better, give it a try. Just make sure to wash it first.
P.S. Im not going to bother putting up any pictures unless you guys really want them. Im hoping to pawn this thing off on one of my brothers if I'm lucky.
Pretty cheap, but it kinda ugly and seems like it would be a hassle getting you tablet in and out.
Are those flaps supposed to hold papers or something? I'm trying to imagine bringing my tablet into the office and trying to "unpack" it from that case. Seems a little bulky from the pictures.
What holds it closed? I don't get it? A magnet? It does seem ugly and might an indication why it's so cheap.

Looks like a closer look at one of the pics reveals the answer: Velcro. I thought they were pockets for papers or something but they are strips of velcro, which must be what holds it shut.
Looks like a decent case for travel and storage.

I believe the design of the 7.7 with the power and volume controls on the right side dictated where the hinge is for the book cover case .
Think about it.....If it opened right to left ,then the power and volume buttons would be on the bottom and subject to being accidentily activated when using it as a stand in landscape mode, as it would be sitting on them. Also they couldn't be used sitting on the bottom.
I've had it on since the second day I owned my 7.7 and got used to the left to right opening now. I do really love it's tight fitting, minimalist design and keeps the tab nice and thin.Feels good in my hands and gives more grip when gaming and surfing, works great as a stand and gives some protection for this beautiful screen when transporting it.
I'm not big on the other generic designs that are out there for the 7.7 right now. If you look at ones selling on Ebay ,the sellers are selling the exact one for the 7 inch ones too and look bulky. If something better comes out then I would consider it down the road but I think this is the best one out so far .
agreed, you wouldn't be able to use it as a stand if it opened the other way.
i like the way it opens

tab 7.7 case.
Im not very impressed with mine:
1: Dont like the fact it opens the wrong way. I agree they couldnt design it any other way but still dont like it.
2. After about a week the grips that keep it steady when standing up starts slipping on various surfaces. So tab keeps falling flat.
3: No option to put it in the tipical slighly tilted for typing possition like the case for tab 8.9 or 10.1
4. I can already see small cracks in the flexible rubber (hinge bit) and the cut open bit at the power button. For this price I was expecting way more.
Argh. All these mixed reviews of the OEM book cover is getting me quite confused. I don't really think I should shell out the amount of money they're asking for the case...
Maybe I'll just get an envelope/pouch from Timbuk2 or other makers while waiting for that perfect case with the multi-view angles.
As for the cover opening the "wrong" way, I think it's the right way from where the Tab was made. Most East Asia books DO operate like that. Especially mangas

I have the 8.9 with the book case. Is it the same sleek design and same thinness as the 8.9 case?
I've got the book cover the same day I got my 7.7 and first I didn't like it. The hinge was very stiff, the lid wasn't flush with the back when flipped around completely. But now I'm used to it and it's ok.
But:
- when the lid was flipped to the back for a longer time you can see the top (rubberlike) material delaminating from the hard bit inside in the hinge area
- when the lid is flipped to the back it's rather wobbly. I'm used to hold the Tab in my right hand with resting it on my spread little finger. But then the lid is always moving about and just feels quite assuring.
But it's a lot better than the Samsung pouch, which is simply waste of money.
The d30 leather pouch for the old Tab was way better but of course wasn't as light and space saving and you could always loose it when you were using the Tab.
Just got my Case today.
From all the horror stories I have been reading about it I thought it was going to be horrible but I like it so far.
First off:
It is incredibly thin and light. Adds almost no bulk at all.
Tab fits very well in the case and my hinge is not stiff at all so folds over very easily.
I dont like:
- all the corners except the top right are protected. So if you were to drop it on that corned it will dent the device.
- I actually dont like the cut out for the power. The material sticks out a little when the case is closed. Wish they didnt have cut out for it.
Besides that I think its really good. I dont think you will find another book case that will be as thin as this one.

Well yes and know. Just as sleek but the big difference is the fact that it only has one stand position unlike tab 8.9 and 10.1 design that has two. One upright and one slightly tilted/flat to type. Not sure how to explain it. Hope you understand what I mean...
I, too, like its sleekness and light weight, but I have to say I wouldn't spend $40+ again -- I think it's way overpriced for what it offers -- and that's after having numerous tablets and similar cases (most selling for under $25. If you can afford to wait for the market to catch up I'd recommend not buying this one.

Just got mine (from the cell guru) and I actually like it.
good quality and not too bulky (can still hold it with one hand easily)
for $30, I'm not sure we can find a lot better
O
I got mine today from CellGuru along with the GT 7.7 from NegriElectronics!
So stoked!
I noticed on the plastic box it came in that it had an illustration for Keyboard Mode along with Media-Viewing Mode.
Anybody find out how the Keyboard Mode is supposed to work? It looks like it's propping the Tab up several inches.
I think Keyboard Mode is a mistake. There's really no way this thing can be propped up that way unless you just put something between the two sides.
Here's another case that popped up on ebay. Looks interesting, still debating if I should buy one.

I love the Samsung Case. It is quite svelt. I don't like that you only really have one angle to stand but it still looks awesome and as others have mentioned you still get a feel for how thin and light this tablet is.
No affiliation with them, just really pleased with this case. It's a little snug, but looks and works amazing.
I ended up buying two of them. ;-)

Wish they made one that would fit a 8.9 tablet!
It doesn't look like it can support the tab in viewing mode. It looks kind of nifty if you like that kind of look, but otherwise is limited as a case.
True, if you want to set it on a desk or table this is not the case for you.
My dock at home takes care of that for me.
This case lets me put it in my bag fairly protected, and yeah I really like the style. I can feel all sophisticated while I play Angry Birds.
Interesting! I'm also using a Verso (Kindle Fire) case for my 7.7. Gorgeous case and fits surprisingly well.

You should post a picture of the tab in it...
Yes, please post pictures. $40 is a bit much to take on just word.
After doing some online research about this case I decided to give it a try.
I had this cover on for a few weeks and was overly pleased on how it looked and felt. It is indeed a tight fit. You have it squeeze the tab into the strap, very carefully. The top right strap will press down on the power button so you have to be careful there.
I had more than a few people comment on it. It is very stylish, functional and it does not look like you are carrying around an electronic device, especially something as expensive as our tablet.
I did not have any issues other people are claiming with this case. It fits very well with our tablet. It lies flat so the top does not bulge out. That was my main concern about the case.
HOWEVER, this is a huge one, the inside pocket where you can either store documents or use it as a handle, caused an indentation on my screen - a burn-in mark. I did not notice it until I changed my lockscreen to a white/light background.
I then noticed it whenever I had a non dark background in that section. I ran a screen test and sure enough, there is the burn-in outline of where the inside pocket forms.
I took a picture, hopefully it will come out clearly.
So beware if you are going to purchase this case. If it wasn't for the burn-in, I would have highly recommended it.
Wow, thanks for the warning. I double checked my tablet and I don't see that mark but I might see if I can use something to remove that extra pocket since I don't use it.
I have been using the official Samsung 7.7 book cover case since I got a good deal on it. Didn't know how nice of a case that is!
Like the look but not a fan of the flip case with no zipper. I can just use the sleeve in that case. Got myself a brookstone case. Love it.
Got an N6 on the way, looking for a flip case that can easily be removed. I'd like to be able to clip the phone into the case when I'm out and about, but remove it when I'm at home or at the office. Anyone have a case like this? I've done some looking but it seems like most of them are TPU cases attached to the flip cover. For my other phone I found one that clipped around the edges in only a couple of spots. I'm hoping to find something similar or at least one that can stand up to the abuse of many in/out cycles.
Might give this one a shot. It's a bit bigger than some other cases but it feels pretty nice. I will warn you though, while not a huge issue, the edges on the flip cover started to look a little frayed after a few weeks. Probably just wear and tear though.

Not particularly, no. I will say they are not the best though. Theres a little bit of play to them. If you can get it cheaper than the 30-some odd dollars they charge, I'd go for it. Personally I usually carry my nexus 6 w/o a case just due to how nice it feels, although if you find a thinner, rubberized flip case let me know.
All in all, I'd give the casemate a shot. Does the job just fine.
I know you might have your reasons for wanting a flip case, but because I wanted to do the same as you (protection when out and about but naked when at home) I went with a really nice larger pouch case instead.

Thanks for the help guys. I considered the case-mate, especially since it was originally sold on Google play so it's close to "official"/oem but the multitude of bad reviews scared me off. I like the pouch idea too but I like to have some protection when I'm using the phone on the go since that's the most likely time I'd drop it. I only remove the case when I'm home or at the office since I'll be at the table/couch/desk there's less risk of dropping it and I prefer using the phone naked as much as possible.
I ended up finding one of these in eBay for 25 and it seems to work well, although it isn't as easy to remove as the flip case for my last phone. I haven't used the card slots yet as I'm a little concerned they could scratch the screen and I don't want to use a screen protector.

I've been using this inexpensive but very form-fitting case since I bought the n6. Easy to slip it out of the case, and I've used nillkin book-type cases for multiple phones. They usually last the life the phone (for me, that's about 2 years)

This is the one I use, and definitely have enjoyed it. I haven't had any problem with cards scratching the screen yet.
If you're still looking for a wallet themed case, you can try out this one by VENA, I have had it for 2 months and it's been great.
http://www.amazon.com/Google-Nexus-...8&qid=1449112949&sr=1-4&keywords=vena+nexus+6
I like my phones naked or as close as it comes (ultra thin transparent tpu case), but I also like to have something to put it in when out and about. My Nexus 5 was kept in a Mofi Kangaroo pouch case which was great. Unfortunately, they seemed to have stopped making them and only ever made them just about big enough for the N5. There are similar alternatives but none seem as good as the Mofi.
So, finding a removable pouch type case big enough for this beast is a challenge! I ordered a hand made fabric one from etsy which is well made, but at the size of the device, looks more like a small sleeping bag than the home of a sleek Nexus device .
So I took a bit of a gamble and ordered something not designed for the Nexus 6. Its primary advertising is for the Iphone 6+, but also states is suitable for Note 4. Looking at both devices dimensions, I concluded it was almost big enough. The Nexus being little longer, thicker and wider than both devices, but not much.
It seems to have paid off. Its a very nice luxurious pouch wallet case in genuine brown leather from what I gather is a brand owned by tuffluv. You can't tell from the site, but the phone pouch part on the side, top and bottom is elasticated so happily accommodates the Nexus's superior girth!
I can even squeeze it in with tpu case - just, but its a bit tough to pull out. Might have to seek an ultra thin tpu case - any recommendations? Without the TPU, its next to perfect! Fully loaded with cards in the card slots makes it slightly tighter to close fully, but still very acceptable in my book.
Currently its in the sale on Tuffluv site where its claimed to be a £50 case (and going by the other similar cases going for in excess of £50, I believe them!). With the sale price and discount it came to £17.99 delivered.
Just thought I'd share in case anyone else was looking for something similar but hadn't found anything labelled as suitable for the Nexus 6.
Can't paste a link but go to tuff-luv dot coms site and search for "Alston Craig Vintage Genuine Leather Wallet Case Cover Pouch for Apple iPhone 6 Plus / 6s Plus / Samsung Galaxy Note 4 - Brown"
Alston Craig have their own site, but there is a discount code for a couple of quid off on tuff-luv
Hope this helps someone.
Oh, ps, there is a small slip of paper in the packaging that states you should have a screen protector fitted to protect the screen before use. Its material lined; not the soft microfibre type, but not something I would be concerned about.
