when I'm reading web page, and I'm scrolling up or down, the tablet randomly ZOOMS right in to part of the page i'm on. Often to a section that I'm not even reading. Is this a known issue? Am I doing something wrong?
thanks, hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about cuz it's driving me crazy!!
This happens to me sometime, all I can say is that the touch screen is too sensitive, I have to make sure that my finger doesn't stay on the screen to long.
Yeah the screen seems to have a sensitivity issue.
I'm just sayin!

Can't say it'a an issue, this happens to ipad and Samsung Galaxy tablet as well when I tried my friends' devices. When you get used to your device, this will happen less.

Hopefully this is the case. Then I'll less likely feel this is a problem isolated to my unit.

The Sony S is super sensitive to quiver-fast double taps and finger jiggles (that you may not know you are doing.) Pretty sure that you'll get used to it and, even without thinking about it, simply adjust your browsing method. Takes a day or so to get beyond it.
Well, I've got my tablet for a few months now and I think every day that this is a pain in the ass. Regarding this issue I love the ipad. Or my galaxy s. Neither of them have this issue.

Did you put a screen protector on the screen without removing the factory one? I did at first and was having the same issue as you. Couldn't even type a message because it kept double tapping letters i was trying to type and scrolling while browsing sucked.
I took off the one I put on and just have the factory one now and, though it still happens some times, it is definitely better than it was before.

Yeah I had to do this same thing. The extra screen protector desensitized the hell out of tablet S. I've taken it off and it's much better, but still double taps at times on 1 tap.

The salesman at the sony store put it on for me. So im not sure. I'd like to this he dd it properly.
I truly believe my tablet is defective. The problem I mentioned above plus horrible and slow scrolling, widgets disappearing, widgets freezing. Etc....
My tablet has been a lot better since I removed the protective film covering the screen. The cover was kinda thick. Now the colors are brighter and the viewing angle is better. I like the texture of the glass too.
I also don't notice the "ghost touches" that would happen right after I'd touch the screen, kind of like a double tap. Those were few and far between, but I've been enjoying my tablet sans protector enough, that this is just a bonus.
I'm not guaranteeing it, but this might fix your issue. You could also try replacing it with a thinner protector. My nook color's touchscreen was crazy without a protector, maybe this tablet is the opposite.
---
It also sounds like you could use a factory reset. I was having issues with my tablet being crappy and slow, and after doing a factory reset, freezing the unneeded apps (pretty much all of the Sony ones), disabling the media scanner, and applying the V6 supercharger script OOM values, my tablet has been pretty snappy.
I've been using the new Go Launcher HD home app in place of the default launcher which I froze (aka disabled the package).
Wait, there is a screen protector coming with the tab? I purchased the sony screen protector and put it on. So I've got two protectors on it?

Same with me, my tablet came with a free protector and the shop put it on for me. I am not sure if there is one already there as some insisted here but I have no sensitivity issue even if there are two screen protectors!
Yes it has a protector on it. It is very tough to keep the screen from getting cracked. To remove it, start at one of the corners with your fingernail. I used the bottom rounded corners to start. At first the screen will feel a little rough, but that's from the adhesive. Clean it with sone electronics spray and a microfiber cloth.
I like mine better with out it. The screen feels like glass now instead of plastic.
Yes..the tablet comes with a screen protector preinstalled which you can see if you look closely at the edge of the screen.

Here's a thread with pictures and info on how to remove the factory screen protector...

screen protector
I have the same touch sensitivity problems on my Tablet S (16GB WiFi) purchased in Singapore. Frequent hypersensitive touch behavior leading to random zooming and double taps, 'stickiness' in scrolling menus etc.
I read about the factory installed screen protector here on XDA but was unsuccessful in removing it...couldn't even get the edges to come off. Went down to the local Singapore Sony Service center and asked them to take a look at the hypersensitive touch issue...and what do you know...I couldn't reproduce it on the spot. Tried for 15 min, but the tablet behaved perfectly during the period . Couldn't convince the service tech that something was wrong.
Anyway, i asked them to remove the factory supplied screen protector and they said it should NOT be removed since it's not merely a protector, but a necessary part of the display for improving color reproduction and decreasing glare. Don't know if he was BSing me, but I left it at that. Note the image on this official website under the 'Sony’s amazing TruBlack™ display' section...
[EDIT: Looks like I cannot post a URL as a new user. Please check the Sony Singapore Tablet S official website]
I bought the official Sony screen protector (matte type) and had them install it. The sensitivity is much better now and the frequency of random zoom and double-tap has decreased drastically; but it's still there and pops up occasionally.
I am unsure of what to do next. Could it be a software issue? Among the browsers, I notice that it is most prominent/frequent in Opera Mobile. Occurs less frequently in the stock browser.
Today, I noticed that we have a possibility to set the sensibilty in our settings. Just go to input help (probably not the correct word... mine is german. It's the setting with the hand as a symbol). Within, there is a setting called something like touchscreen gestures. My tablet was default set to short. I changed it and now I don't experience the zoom issue anymore.

It's Touch n Hold Delay under Accessibility and default setting is Short.
I have no screen sensitivity problem on my tablet with extra screen protector on (I'm not sure if there is one factory installed on my tablet until today) so this function is useless to me
Hmm it seems that the touch and hold adjustment worked for me so far. Nice find!

Hi all!
I know that this question always is a topic with a new phone and especially with an amoled screen... But I still would like to know how your phone is and if anyone has compared their phone with someone elses phone...like a friends phone or in the store.
The reason is because I have a clear yellow color of a white screen, like a white background or a white page in the browser. If I tilt the phone a bit the yellow/white turns to clear white color but facing the phone in a normal way it turns yellowish...like a warm white color.
Is it the same for you guys or not?
Maybe it's nothing worth bothering over or is it maybe worth getting a new one!?
Hope for some feedback!
Best regards
zwooosh

There is a thread about the pink tint on this forum. If your screen looks yellow try adjusting the brightness to the highest setting. Mine may look a bit yellow but i have the auto brightness adjustment and the screen is always warm. If the brightness is at the top, my white is proper white.

Yeah, I've seen some threads about the issue.
I've done a DOA and the second phone is the same but I've got a friend whose phone is perfect and it has made me a little jealous... :'(
I guess it's a big problem and maybe it will be hard finding a phone with the perfect white screen, especially when it's a amoled screen (which has the know issue) and a lot of people seems the have it...
You're right about the brightness, it's getting better with full but not good enough to me. And having it that way all the time is not battery friendly.
Sucks, is the right word I think! :'(

I returned a white one for getting the Pebble Blue later on, but if i had not returned it for that, i definitely would have returned it for its poor screen uniformity. Mine had a pink blotch in the bottom right corner. I have also seen this poor uniformity and colour tint in the nexus line and its also very similar to the problems seen in the new ipad 3 screen (Also made by Samsung).

Sadly its quite a common occurrence with Samsung LED screens. They look amazing but every screen seems to have its own DNA. Its also the same with LG IPS panels too, with them its a green to ping tint going accross the screen. To be honest i dont think there is a perfect screen out there, you just have to get a screen that you deem acceptable to you and your needs
Same. First device had banding, returned it. Second device has yellow tint all over except when viewed at an angle, then it's proper white. It's infuriating.

I bought it on elgiganten.
I had no problem getting a new one. Before I went to the store I called up the service department and tolded them about my problem. They where aware of the default and said that I should go to a store and return it. What I thought then, besides easy, was that this can't be good when they're aware of the problem...
Maybe it will be harder than I thought, finding a new good unit.. :-(
Well well, only the future will tell!
Ps. The one thing I was worried about returning it, was that I had rooted it and the counter ended up at 3 when I'd restored it... But they didn't look but it might not be over... Maybe samsung will look and not be glad. But then again, this defect has nothing to do with that so I hope for the best.

on my new galaxy s3 i have noticed in dark backround in dark room i have them bloody annoying black spots. i have recearched it but it only says its a common problem for amoled screens. i have about 8 of these spots one which is huge. only noticable in dark room using black screen. do i get replacement or will that just be a waste of my time?
Let me recap
- you're in a very dark room
- you're watching a black screen
There's an easy hardware-fix to this problem; shortly press the button on the right side of the screen and the blotches will disappear, while the rest of the image (read: black screen) remains intact. [/IRONY]
It's, as you found out, a common sight on AMOLED however it's not an issue. These pixels are simply darker than the others.
Galaxy S3 black ink spots
ok thank you makes sense. but buying a $1000 phone you would not expect something like this. so is this a software or hardware problem sorry for askng??
return it get a new one.
i was planning to but how am i going to prove to the retailer of my problem? first of all it will need to be a very dark room which is unlikely in a shopping mall unless he throws a blanket over his head lol. second of all some people see these things more easily than others, the staff member might not be able even in the right conditions to spot any marks....
Kick his ass and make him go check it in the toilet roms. Tell him not to forget to turn the lights off lol
i wish i could but then he will charge me for rape lol. seriously though im starting to think that if i get a new one it mght even be worse
sell it get the htc one x

I too found 2 dots on my phone. I returned it immediately, got a new one after a week, found 3 dots now . I dont know what to do now.
Even if you return it a million times you'll still get some...
According to supercurio it's a software issue (trigger voltage slightly too low or something like that) and will be fixed with his upcoming 'Display Expert' app
I had some on my S2 and now on my nexus.. To prove it you can download an app called LCD Text (AMOLED) from the market (it has the logo of an RGB circle pattern) and then set it to full brightness and black screen, you will notice them very quickly.

UPDATE:
OK, now it's a widespread issue.
It looks like it could be the glue drying or something else.
Because the issue appears after some days of usage.
Btw, I've returned my phone
-------------------------
I bought the Mate 20 Pro the 18th of October, at first the display looked fine but it's been some days already that I'm noticing a yellow/green tint on the right side of the display that reminds me so much to the problem that happened with the Nexus 4 (it was because of the glue [https://www.pocketables.com/images/....com/images/2012/12/nexus-4-yellow-screen.jpg) ).
And it's getting worse.
It's not just me, another user on XDA and another user on Reddit also said that are having the same issue.
If it's the glue, even if you don't notice the issue right now on your device, it might appear in the next days, as it happened to me.
These are my pictures:

What do you think?
I'll go and return my phone for another one this Monday. And if the new one has the same problem I'll ask for a refund
UPDATE:
More things I've noticed:
After playing a burn in fix video, the way that this issue looks is different, it changes.
Here I took some pictures of the display with a black background:

Then it will probably be the glue
if its glue, its a manufacture faulty batch (lets hope). This even happened years ago with Samsung phones due to poor QA (and for Samsung that's huge).
While highly unlikely, if you happen to find its software related or to do with w/display driver, post it in the EMUI/software problem/fault thread so you can let others know. Also, be sure to get in touch with Huawei and keep us posted on your results.
EDIT 1/11: From what I can read on the first 30-40 pages its moistly screens with LG and not BOE. Its in multiple regions, so let's way a few more weeks and see if the newer BOE batches or wave 2 of the shipments fixes the issue...

I thought that. I've never had a curved like this. I put a black wallpaper on and it's fine. Put a colour one on and you see it
A great way to tell is if you have a white chrome window and then pull the notification shade down it shows all around the notch. I think it's something to do with greys on low light levels?
Yeah greys at low light seem to vary in colour a little, if it's really bad keep swapping the phone. I had to change my Nexus 6P made by Huawei 3 times before I got a good screen. Mine is slightly lighter on the bottom third but it's hardly noticeable so I'm going to stick with it.

Yeah, it is "only" visible during direct sunlight on bright backgrounds, but still, that's horrible for a phone that expensive.
Edit: I mean the fingerprint sensor of course

I've used my phone in broad daylight and on white backgrounds and I've never seen the fingerprint scanner and I believe at this point I would have to be actively searching for it in order to actually see it. But honestly, even if I did see it under those conditions my normal, every day use wouldn't be affected by this. To each his own...
I can see the battery through the screen on my phone in direct sunlight...

Could be related to OCD. I haven't noticed anything of the sort since February.
What you actually see is the ribbon cable. Unacceptable? I really don't think so and don't mind it one bit.
Lol, you really have to look hard for it. First time I heard about this I searched for two mins until I could find it..
You seem weird. But at least you can have something to complain about
