MoBoot boot options - TouchPad General

I have a question about Moboot. How do you change the boot options? I had installed a version of AOKP and a version of CM on top of eachother (wiping and then installing) and the old ROM I was running is still there. Is there a way to delete some of the moboot options?

Thanks for the awesome, helpful response.
I did do a couple of quick searches on XDA and through Google but couldn't find what I needed. I figured somebody here knew off the top of their head what to do.

If you have Root Explorer, or some other root-level explorer, load it up and browse to /boot. Mount it as read-write, and find the file uImage.<whatever you wanna delete> and delete it. Don't delete any other files. You wanna keep the following:
uImage.Clockworkmod (that's CWM / TWRM Recovery)
uImage.webOS
uImage.CyanogenMod (that's the CM install)
If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a PM. Unlike the useless known as cdzo up there, I actually do like to help people.

Classic nerd has a flashable zip called moboot cleaner here's a link: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/26003-cm9-to-classicnerd-discussion/
If there is a problem posting a link to another forum I will remove it. Also if you want to change the main OS at start up or increase time download cyboot on webOS.

Run this from recovery: http://classictomatoe.net/classicnerd.net/Betas/update-remove-tga_uImages.zip
That's a script from classicnerd. After you run that, re flash the rom without wiping anything to get the correct entries back into moboot.

[Q] flashable system wiping zips

So do the old flashable wipe zips for the EVO 4G work for us or are they different? I'd rather flash one wipe zip before I flash a rom instead of going through the settings hitting a bunch of different ones each time I flash.
I tried caulkins format all and it didn't work, it said it was using some old scripting way.
But I too would like a flashable zip to wipe.

twrp has a "wipe everything" option, or something similar. I used it when flashing and so far, no issues.

Did devs get too lazy and not put a format system line in the updater script now?
I've never wiped or formatted system.
Anyways.. Link me to the original files. I'll look at them and see what I can come up with

Might be a stupid question, but just to be clear: manually wiping with TWRP means going into the format menu and "formatting /system"? I'm just getting used to this recovery, still having amon ra flashbacks from my og evo days.

Not sure what device you are coming from but Evo 4G we have always needed (strongly advised) to properly wipe/reformat before flashing. It wasn't needed in most cases if just updating nightlies but moving from rom to rom it was a basic requirement to prevent any bugs popping up from remnants of the previous rom.
I don't know the guys, any of them, personally but I don't know if it has anything to do with being lazy.

This is what I'm talking about in the updater script
format("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p23");
This should be doing the same thing that happens when you do it through recovery. And yes it is in the updater scripts that i have looked at. I'm looking at the OG EVO script now.

[Q] How do you flash roms on prerooted GB?

Feel free to move or delete this thread, or even create a better one because I can not seem to find what I am looking for.
I have an X2 that I went through the whole bootstrap, gingerbreak, upgrade to pre-root GB.
Now I have all that, Rom manager, CMR, Bootstrap installed, all those fancy programs, but when I try to use Clockwork Mod it just brings me back through the regular bootloop back to GB without even doing any update/flash whatever you might call it.
What am I missing here? Where is this magical step I am obviously overlooking? Sorry, yes I am a newb and now I want to try either eclipse(which is on my SD Card) or the CM7 nightlies...

Yes I also didn't think u t would just be as easy as how I got preroot gb when I first did it either
As easy as flashing the preroot. Do the same thing with eclipse and viola.

No, but on a serious note, I already had everything but had CMR because I used to have a DX. I thought I read somewhere people saying "clockword mod this..." and assumed it would be the same one!

there is no cm7 nightlies for this bad boy so dont flash any of them lol
I noticed, I have been trying to install the eclipse rom to no avail still. Followed all the prompts but keep getting the same error.
What error are u getting?
I will have to post it later when I get a minute to run through the steps again. I believe it was "E: Can't open.... Install aborted" something along those lines. Eclipse on SD card(if that makes a difference), just want to put as much info out as you guys might need to find my issue.

The sticky in the android dev subforum has links to all the tutorials. Regarding the error, are you downloading eclipse with your phone or a computer. If using your phone try using your pc with Firefox or chrome browser. If that isn't feasible, I downloaded mine from phone but I had astro file manager installed so the stock browser would download it. You can try that. Most errors of that nature are related to a bad download. The links are all verified, next logical step is to try a different download method

Thanks I will try it out this week.
UPDATE: Bad news bears. I flashed the patch as described (mounted system, wiped cache) but the system went into a boot loop. The boot animation kept cycling over and over again.
Did the restore zip work at least? That's the first I've heard of a bout loop caused by it.
It only edits 3 files, none of which could possibly cause more than a boot loop in any case.
EDIT: May have been a corrupted download, I'll be sure to post MD5, hashes next time. Sorry about that!

I don't think it was a corrupt download. I just created a patch myself using the Windows program and it also produced a boot loop. I restored from a nandroid the first time, trying out the restore file right now.
Alright sounds good. That's still really is though, and I have no idea why it happens. Did you flash any addons on top of the stock ROM?

Nope. Just the patch. Although the second time I didn't mount the system. Is this a necessary step? I didn't see anything in the OP of the PDroid thread.
Possible reasons for failure:
* Corrupt download first time
* Second time, didn't mount system
What is this "If you "integrated sys Dalvik into ROM" with Titanium Backup, you will have to undo it"? I am using TB but I'm not sure if this applies to my situation.
I noticed the ROM must be deodexed and I didn't see any odex filetypes in the system/framework directory. That should be the only place they appear right?
On a better note, the restore file works =) Thanks for the help
Yes, you should mount /system in CWM, as I didn't manually edit the patch to add in auto-mounting.
I just tried on Unnamed 2.2.1 and experienced the boot loop as well (created the patch using the Windows patcher). Restore zip works fine, and tried with and without mounting /system in CWM. There apparently is something in Unnamed that the code doesn't like
Too bad, sounds like a good program (I also use LBE and wanted to use it along side).

Thanks! I guess I didn't go far enough back in the dev's thread (DUH!) so hopefully he's got the info he needs to fix it. I'd really like to try it sometime.
The developer of PDroid has released an update to his patcher that fixes the bootloop issue for AT&T roms. I just installed using UnNamed v1.32 and it works great.
Feels good to block all of those permissions.

[INFO]Please download Latest/Official CWM v5.8.2.0

A preface:
This is neither development or a question. This is simply an informative post that needs to be in the development section to save many users issues. (also most people looking for custom roms dont look in general section)
I did not create this.
New official CWM v5.8.2.0 (link below)
A few of us have confirmed that it now properly backs up and restores the boot.img
This Helps with the following issues
-Possibly fixes bricks (by properly restoring boot.img)
-Correctly comes with Staging/System unmounted
-Nandroid Restores properly the boot.img (of backups created with this CWM). This means no more issues when restoring a Rom if you are coming from another from (for example, if you are restoring Virtuous after wiping cm9)
Additionally:
-Backups are now about 10x faster
-Restores are a bit faster (not as dramatic as backups)
Still no go:
-External SD Card (Pretty sure)
-Reboot into recovery (probably a software issue within OS anyway)
Manual install:Here is the link to the file if you prefer to manually install (EASY WAY BELOW) -Must have unlocked bootloader

Though: I dont think it will retroactively fix the boot.img restore and backup issue meaning, you should probably make new backups if you want to be able to restore the kernel properly in the future

I did go in and clear cache and data and tried all over again.
It starts, the "blue bar" at the top of the screen starts to scroll across and gets to about the end and just hangs. If I remember correctly from my other phones it should boot at that point and do its thing?
I will uninstall...reboot and reinstall.
If that doesnt work, maybe I will try the old fashion adb deal.

Returning to stock experience from CM9

I know I just have missed the thread and/or I am not searching for the correct words, but could someone help me find how to restore a rooted nook Tablet running CM9 alpha.05 to the out of box user experience?

Yes, After flashing cm7 and gaaps, wipe and re-boot I'm in bootloop. For now I am running cm7 off sd card fine, but hope to fix internal ? Also, while in cmw from sd card, I get the error message after flashing "can't mount E recovery". There is probably the culprit ?
I'm not sure to be honest. Try flashing a different rom and see if you can boot.
You could also flash the zip for internal clockworkmod if you like, via the sdcard clockworkmod.

Thanks for the help thus far, but none of the above work. I also tried the repart.img from Raywaldo tutorial and it doesn't finish.I also tried AdamOutler wipe/ubunto method and it gets stuck at writing zeros to mlo. The roms seem to flash ok, but can't boot into it without a loop. I suspect partitions are messed up if someone can point me in the right direction. So it looks like TWRP caused this when reverting to cm7 from cm9 Thanka again

If it is a partition issue, then this thread should be able to help:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570022
The first method worked for me, although I did flash a clean CM7 install instead of 1.4.2 at the end.
Also, you shouldn't need to make a.CWM sd card, since you can reach recovery.
Just download "acclaim_update.zip" from XDA and then go in and navigate to "updater_script" which is located in "META-INF/com/google/android/" edit the first two lines and where it says "blaze" change to "acclaim" on both lines and update your zip file or rezip it whatever you do and you can now flash it in CWM or TWRP.

So how do I edit those lines ? I can view it in Winrar, but how do I edit it exactly. It won't let me simply cut and replace Thanks

I'd recommend getting something like notepad++ as notepad will not display the file very cleanly, and wordpad will add extra characters. Extract the file out of the zip, to say your desktop. Open it with notepad++. Edit what you like, save the file. Drag it back into the original place in the zip. Winrar will update the file in the zip. Make sure you extract the file though, if you try opening it directly from the zip, you're just going to be working on a temp copy of the file.
If you suspect that your partitions are messed up there are some threads about repartitioning. You can follow them up until you're supposed to start changing partitions to see if yours are the same as what their original ones were.
Can you boot the internal recovery still? I've seen a few posts about the CWM that come with CM7 and CM9 not being compatible with the other version. Perhaps try Indirect's Flasher.
Next time though, you should ask your question in a new thread since it's not really on topic with the OP and thread topic. Your question refered to a bootloop... The OP referred to returning to stock. By keeping the threads on topic to their content, it helps make searching easier for other people who may need the help.
Yes, notepadd++ --> On its menu, go to edit, and then to Eol Conversion to choose between :
windoze - cr/lf - od/oa ( hex )
unix - - lf - oa
mac - - cr - od
.
( of course ) we want the second choice...

Well since you have a custom recovery the only way you can get to stock is to use adamoitlers total wipe flash back to stock and root from there. You could try flashing some stock recovery but it is a bit risky IMO.
