Camera lag and freezing - Motorola Droid RAZR

Has anyone had this issue? My Maxx seems to freeze the camera when it focuses the main camera. Every camera app I've tried has the same effect. I've even tested this on other razrs. Some take a few shots then lag or freeze and some just slow down. There's an app that is something like speed shot or something that seems to work but it isn't focusing, it simply takes shots as-is. I've read this to be a common issue with this device. Otherwise. I love this phone!
Anyone else having the issue? Anyway to fix it?

stupid question, but have you tried powering down and restarting your phone since this problem started, somethings can be solved with a simple reboot.

Whats your sdcard class?

Not a stupid question lol and yes I've done that multiple times. Even have wiped a few times.
I believe its the stock class 4 card. I will pop in the class 10 from my transformer prime and see if it has any effect....

Aaaand that's a negative on any improvement with the class 10 card. Plus, I had nothing on the card as well...

download "Camera ICS" from the market (Google Play) and use that instead and see if the problems go away.

Huh, it seemed to help. It does have about a 10 second lag though. Third photo i had to "wait" on the fc option.

Do you folks think it might be a hardware issue? If so, do you think I can send it to Motorola and have them send me 1 back since I bought it off of craigslist? I did buy it new in box is there a chance that I can send it to verizon also?

Update:
My camera is working flawlessly now. Just over night it decided to. Yesterday, i unrooted and set back to stock and applied all OTA updates. Even then it was still having the same issues. The ONLY thing i did this morning was swap my micro SD card back and forth a few times with my transformer prime, to back up all of my photos and music. After I got off of work I tried to go to Verizon and see if I could swap it out. Of course that did not work. Before making the decision to buy 1 outright, sell this to a potential buyer on craigslist, and eat the difference i just tested the camera 1 last time.
BLAM! It's working and focusing as it normally should without the slightest lag.
So, that being said it may have had something to do with the positioning of the sd card inside the phone.

I had the same issue in the past and it was going the same way like yours. But then the camera was completely bricked after a while. I had to send it to repair. Just take care of it.

Well, I ended up selling it for a $50 profit. I bought one for full price from Big Red. Hey, it's a credit card, not REAL money right? haha! I figured if I have issues again in the future, then my warranties and Asurion insurance would at least cover it.

Found a fix (for me at least)
I was having very similar issues to what has been previously mentioned. To be specific, every time I opened the camera app it would respond temporarily, however when i tried pressing the shutter button the phone would freeze. After many cache wipes, data resets, and factory data resets my stock camera app seems to be working.
What I did:
I'm not positive that this was the final solution, but I opened the app and was able to open the settings without it freezing. I then changed storage to SD card (it had been internal). Works like new! I'm guessing there was an issue with the storage folder or some other software issue?
To be thorough, I had also taken out the SD and sim card and put them back and also wiped the cache today. I'm not sure what finally did it but maybe something happened with the storage folder or something internal? I also wiped the SD card earlier in the week so maybe that helped too.
Either way, it works now and I hope this helps someone.

[q] help problem with NOTE and SanDisk Ultra 64GB microSDXC card

Please note I have no custom kernel or ICS, my phone is stock.
I bought a SanDisk Mobile Ultra 64GB microSDXC Class 6 back in April. The card installed fine and everything was great until last week when I turned off the phone which I have always done with my phones every other day just to let it reset everything. The phone kept looping and would get an error msg saying adroid process kept failing. I tried turing it off and on agaid several times same effect. Finally after waiting about 5 minutes and turning it on again it came on and worked. Well the damn thing did it again this morning after freezing up on installing a game last night. It kept looping and looping. Screen unresponsive everytime and would not get a data connection. Only thing custom I had on this phone is widget locker. I tried unistalling that one time when it let me access before it looped again and that didn't work. So I decided to try taking out my card. Well that did it and the phone is working fine now. Has anyone else had this issue? It is a problem it seems when the phone trys to scan the Micro sd card that this starts. Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like your card went bad. I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago. Just had to buy a new one and rma the bad one.

Return merchandise authorization. And yes, they should. I had a failed SD card as well. I learned the hard way to back things up to the cloud. Lost over 500 pictures and videos.

Would my computer still be able to read and write to the card if it was the card that was bad? I was able to pull and delete my photo's off the card when I stuck it in my PC's Micro SD slot. I am totally new with Android. I have always had Iphones.
Some times yes your computer can still read it but for a short time. Don't think a computer is as picky as your phone. Took them almost 4 weeks to send me a new card. I had already bought a new one. So got a backup.

Accelerometer Failure

Recently I've noticed that my razr no longer rotates from portrait to landscape, and i'm hoping there's a way to calibrate it in order to get it working again. First thing I did was check all the settings, toggled the auto-rotate switch anywhere I could find it, but nothing would make it switch. I've done some research on the problem, and have tried everything from a soft reset, to a hard reset to pulling the sim card with the phone off, no luck. I'm running SS 3.05 with an ics rom on one slot, and a jb on another, and the problem persists across both roms. I'm considering booting to android recovery and doing a factory reset there, but didn't know the impact it may have on SS. Any thoughts or suggestions?
BTW... Both bubble level and compass apps fail to function properly. Even after calibration they both act erratically

did you try moving a small neodyme magnet along the outside of the case?
As weird as it may seem, put it inside something soft, such as a sock, or tpu case, and beat it against something wooden, alternating th X, Y and Z axes. Worked more than once when my Optimus 3D got a stuck accelerometer (dropped it too much)

(That's what the magnet is for - replacing the art of rampage^^)
Well, I tried a HDD magnet once, but it failed to realign the accelerometer sensing needles. Let's wait and see if any of the ideas solve the OPs's problem...

Thanks, I'll give this a try. Any concern about wiping data? I know magnets and drives don't play nicely together
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
Ok, so i gave it both a good beating, and ran a strong magnet all over it (didn't have a neodyme, but have some strong ones from Home D), but not luck. I've got a similar post on droidrzr.com and it was suggested that it could be kernel related, and to try a kexec kernel or to fastboot. still a bit of a noob (but working on it) so i'm following up on the fastboot suggestion, but i flashed a kexec rom on slot 2 and it made now difference. i'm feeling more and more like its a hardware failure, but before i call verizon, i wanted to both update the thread with the results, as well as see if there were any other ideas out there.
thanks again for the suggestions so far! even though the problem still exists, i'm grateful for the offer of help!:good:
I wanted to update this post with the final outcome. After some advice, i ran Matt's 1.82 utility to go back to stock, but unfortunately it didn't fix the issue. Seems to be a hardware failure, will be returning it to a VZ store in the morning. Thanks for the help and suggestions! Hopefully by this point tomorrow I'll have a new (or factory refurbished) phone, rooted and finally able to bang on the latest 4.2.1 by Hashcode. Thanks again!

[Q] everything gone wrong at once

My Thunderbolt has just decided to completely crash at once and I was wondering if anyone here knew of any possible solution.
The charging port on my phone has broken so I cannot charge it or connect it to my computer. I took it in to Verizon to get it replaced and was told to put the factory rom back before they would replace it.
I didn't think that would be a problem until about 20 minutes later when my phone stopped reading my memory card. I have tried several different memory cards so I am sure it is my phone broken, not the card.
While at the Verizon store, the CS rep gave me another Thunderbolt to use to charge my battery with until I could get a replacement (I found this very strange) so I am able to at least charge my phone for now.
any ideas here?
Yea don't ever take a phone into a Verizon store and expect to get any real help. You're better off calling it in over the phone and letting them figure it out later than dealing with the retards at the stores. They know nothing most of the time and are a huge hassle.

He was actually very helpful. I just went in today to talk to the same guy and found out he doesn't work at that store anymore. He is the regional manager now

Honestly, in my opinion, the best thing you can do is stick the memory card in a computer by putting it in an adapter or SD slot if your computer has one and then reformat it to FAT32. If your computer reads it, save your pics and videos first to the computer so that you'll have them. I had this problem before and it just happened in my back pocket. I'll never know what happened. Anyways... since you're rooted and everything is already installed to your phone, it won't hurt your phone at all by reformating the SD entirely via computer. Remember, if the computer will read it, its not a memory card issue... normally its a format issue and the phone reading it.
Once your SD is newly formatted, put it back in and immediately backup your ROM just in case.
You shouldn't have any further issues with it.
Proceed with the unrooting process. All those files that existed would pretty much needed to have been deleted anyways.

Roflmao. Still though. It is easier to deal with customer service when you return a rooted device because they don't get to see until after you get the new device so you have a chance to unroot before they know you're rooted.

Niether camera working, tried different ROMS

A few days ago, i picked up a used EVO LTE. I didn't test thoroughly enough before I handed over the cash, and the cameras (front and back) are not responding. I bought it used, knowing it was rooted and emailed when I got home to see if I could get a history of flashes or something (obviously with no response)...
What happens is the default camera app force closes before an image is available, sometimes giving a "toast" error, sometimes not. I have tried other apps from the Play Store and none of them work, with many errors of "Cant find the camera".... The "mirror" app in my ROM shows only a black screen (which has been my only way of testing the front camera).
I'm wondering what sorts of things I can do to rule out software... I've tried restoring using the VipeRUU tool as well as 3 custom roms, two sense based and then CM 10.1... I'm thinking it might be hardware related, but for both cameras to go out would have to be main board related, correct?... Id think if one camera was broken, at least the other would work... Is there anything I can do before ripping it apart to try and fix a hardware problem I haven't Identified?
I saw some people saying that Kernels arent always compatible with one another, and someone that isnt flashing compatable roms with the kernel can bork things.... I have some experience rooting and flashing (all on a Samsung, other than 72 hours on this HTC) so most of this is pretty foreign to me. I've never tried flashing a kernel, and wouldn't even know where to start or where to check for compatibility.
I had this happen to my old phone. Camera randomly stopped working, nothing would fix it. Took it to sprint, they swapped the camera, nothing. Your best
bet would be to put insurance on it and replace it.

It sounds like a hardware issue. If you ran VipeRUU and the camera still didn't work then the problem isn't the kernel or software, since VipeRUU puts the phone back 100% stock.
Can you do that on a used phone?... I guess I'd have to take it in since I don't see the option online.
Yeah, stock except after running VipeRUU I still had S-Off and an unlocked bootloader.

Yes you can. I bought mine off eBay, had it for about five months before the camera failed. Took it Sprint, they failed to fix it and replaced it at no charge.

I don't have insurance on it. I looked online to see if I can activate the total protection and it said my phone wasn't eligible.

Huh, that's weird. Maybe the policy changed since I upgraded to the One. I guess take it in and see what they can do for you.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
Well they asked me where I got it from, I told them I bought it from craigslist, perhaps they flagged it when I activated at the store?

I was able to call in and activate the insurance... Now to restore everything to factory.

Moto G Crashing and Rebooting Issues (probably wrong place to put this topic)

I have a Moto G first generation and I have an issue with it. Not sure if I'm in the right place to ask but I'll go ahead and try anyways. I'm on a clean CM11 rom with no apps installed except for the ones it came with. After about 15 minutes of use, the phone gets a blue screen and reboots. It does the same thing on a CM12 rom too. I haven't tried to go back on the phones stock rom, but if it's crashing on roms that used to work, I don't know if it'll help I contacted Motorola Support, and they went right to the "buy another one" card instantly. There's gotta be a way to fix it.. Help?
