Hello,
I was told there was an update for the Samsung Galaxy S and I have the mesmeris from US Cellular.
I downloaded the walk through for it and pulled the battery our and got in to download mode with no problems. I followed the instructions and it said it was downloading it to my phone. Then right around 99 percent it said error on my computer. and my phone just stayed at 99% or well the bar was like almost to the end on the download mode screen. I unplugged the USB and pulled the battery again and tried the whole thing over. Same thing. When I went to boot the phone up it showed a "phone" - ! - "Computer" symbol. So I downloaded odin and tried to wipe everything back to the original. now when i put the battery in instead of booting up, it shows an AT&T world phone and will stay on that screen. It wont let me get back in to the download mode again. Can someone please help me out? I am so lost about this and would like to try and get this fixed :/

You mean the wrong update from the samgung site?
Any Idea how to get it back to US Cellular so it is not saying AT&T?
It wont let me get to the download mode now. Every time I try it nothing happens and it just shows a white screen with a globe and says AT&T World Phone

hi i just posted about the not connected to network thread and i guess theres no fix so i gave samsung a call and they want me to send my phone in for repairs. question is .. what do i need to get rid of so it can be "stock" ?

Well hope this isn't your case but my girl got a mytouch slide off of craigslist and it worked fine for about a month then it said that. Had no service .and wouldn't connect to the network . She called t mobile and they said the previous owner had a unpaid bill so they blocked the imei until the bill was paid off . did you call t mobile and asked

yeah when i was talking to them i told them all about the problem and that i tried all the soft resets hard resets etc. and they looked at the phone imei and if i wanted to get it replaced by tmobile i'd need to ask the person i bought it from to transfer the insurances but i didn't save his number. so they said the only other option i had was to call samsung, and they did like a factory reset and it still didn't work.

I already flashed it back to stock via odin just need to know what else to delete etc.

ODIN back to stock ROM. Back up your apps using Titanium Backup, and copy that folder to your computer.
That way, when you get a new phone, you can have all the apps.
Or use ROM Manager, back up, get those files to your computer, and flash back to Stock ROM.

I recently got a note 2 in a trade and it seems to be stuck in a display mode . It acts like the phones you try out at the Verizon store. It has a menu showing all the features and will go into the video the phones play at the Verizon store . I tried rooting and installing a custom ROM (jedix) but that didn't help at all. I'm thinking its some kind of file in the phone that if you were to delete it would remedy the problem. The phone also wasnt stolen from the store because I had it activated and it had a clean ESN . Any help at all would be much appreciated . I'm in dire need of a phone lol.

Well I traded for the phone and I'm sure its past warranty , what would they be able to do anyways besides give a new phone ?

Hello everybody, this is my first post although ive been here for some time.great forum. I am sorry if this is in the wrong section but i have looked every where and cant find anything to what im going thru? I recently traded my galaxy s3 for a note 2 on verizon that was flashed to tmobile and then reflashed to verizon. Everything works perfect (i am even typing this from the gn2) except this phone absolutely will not activate on verizon network. I spent 3 hours in a verizon store and also on the phone while in the store with a verizon tech, he tried everyrhing even multiple sim cards and told me that there were now too many orders aginst the phone and that it should clear up by morning. I did what they said and tried again in the morning and it still wont activate im afraid i just traded for a junk phone but samsung told me they can reflash it if i send it to them but that will be a week or more without a phone, is there anybody that can help me or at least point me in the roght direction? Thanks alot guys!

Hi, yeah if i put the sim card in it just keeps trying to activate, it will even make a call to verizon and youll hear the voice say "please wait while your phone is activated" then makes a beep noise and hangs up. I can only use this over wifi no verizon network, no 4g or voice. My network says unknown in settings also. Activation just repeats itself until it finally gives me the mwssage "were sorry we are having trouble activating your phone please call*********** from a differwnt phone. Thanks

Okay just checking the problem. First, there shouldn't be any flashing to go to tmoble just putting in a sim. Si to make sure you are truly stock Verizon, follow section 1b here using the official download.

Sorry, i forgot to mention i had already used imnuts alternate version to make sure i am stock, i checked the counter it says no next to the counter, the phone knows its verizon and even the tech told me he could see it was trying to axtivate on his end? Sorry i am not technical but have read and read here to try to figure this out. Thanks for looking into this

Yeah it matches the one on back of the phone. My iccid says unknown and prl says 1. Network says unknown too

And I'm assuming they have you a new sim and you've tried another person's sim. By the way they did make sure the imei isn't blocked right

This is sounding more like a network problem then phone. Try this may seem weird, but unlock and flash a couple ROMS. I've seen people say that they had a similar problem and it went away after a flash. He specifically flashed AOKP
I would also re flash the modem specifically

Ha no you not crazy, ill give it a try. At this point im open to anything all else I guess I can just send to samsung they said its still under warrenty? Thanks ill get back and update with what I find

If It didn't work try calling Verizon again and ask for tier 2 tech support. Maybe they can think of something else or at least send you a new phone

Ive done that the tier 2 tech finally just called samsung and got them to tell me they will repair it since it is still under the 1 year warrwnry but I have to send it to them, im just afraid they may find out that the fella I got it from flashed it to another providor (thats what he told me anyway and had to flash back to verizon) and then tell me to pay alot of money, I do have ins from verizon on it but they dont seem to wanna go thru that since I got it from another person. Also 99.00 is cheaper than what samsung would charge I would think?
Today when my friend tried to turn on his galaxy SII, it stuck at at&t boot animation. He bought it few days ago on ebay. But it is unlocked. So what I have to do?
Hope I can get a answer soon.

And to get in recovery hold both volume buttons and power until a big menu shows up. Make sure it's not plugged in.

Is your friend's phone the AT&T version, SGH-I777 or the international version, GT-I9100?

I think it has to be the i777 or the i727 because the ATT boot screen
I already fixed it. Just read some thread find out how to get in to recovery. I think other SII have to press home+Vol+ to get in to recovery but ATT version do not have home button So thats where I got confusion.
Great... Make sure next time you are on the correct thread or web page for a device. read read read then read some more. Always check the model number on the device usually under battery. Have a good day!

Hey xda I have a question I flashed cm and gapps I wipe cache/data/dalvik cache before. after the phone booted up but I had no signal. I'm not able to make calls or send txt messages. On the notification bar I get a message saying I'm roaming I called Verizon and the rep said the SIM card is dead and need a replacement. Is there Another way to restore service with out a new SIM card? I'm forced to have to Odin my phone back to stock and take it to Verizon.

You need to at least Oden back to stock and see if that helps at all, however if you just happen to have a Verizon sim sitting around you should give that a try.
What firmware are you running? What kernel?
I'm having the same issue I'm on MDK build and I flashed back to Oden. I took the phone to Verizon they replaced the sim card but no luck. Any Ideas??

same here man got my new card and still no service it says roaming and when the phone boots up it "please wait until your phone has neem activated. im going to odin back to stock again and send it for a replacement.

the mdk firmware i think. i did and odin and got a new SIM card and still no go

i cant it gets stuck in a wait "until phone activates window" i cant go into settings or anything.
