Ok, i know the information is out there but i simply can't find "the best" choices. Need a way to root my Motorola Razr MAXX and the best possible stable ROM, and nobody knows more about this than you guys I live in Denmark and using a GSM mobile so im very unsure what to flash.
I'm coming from a HTC Hero, which i rooted with RA and used various ROM's but mostly Cyanogen.
I just need to narrow down my available choices, i know that i can use stuff for the normal Razr so that's what i've been researching, and according to this Thread i have ALOT of choices, dunno if GB or ICS or whatever.
I'm thinking Eclipse, but i really don't know
Excuse my ignorance.
To root on .173-.181 you need Motofail, and yes I would say that Eclipse is probably the best ROM if you want a smooth, bug free experience.
I would also recommend Gummy and Black Widow they're both really awesome ICS ROMs'. Though I forgot if they have GSM patches or work for GSM.
I installed Motofail, Safestrap and Eclipse 1.3. But it doesn't boot, just a blank screen. Any idea wat do?
Maybe it's missing a GSM Patch.. Trying Black Widow instead, which i know needs GSM Patch
EDIT: Also blank screen with Black Widow What am i doing wrong?

Hi All,
I'm new to modding my phone and recently flashed it with Cyanogenmod Froyo 2.2.
I want to flash it with Gingerbread but have seen that there are memory leak problems with Cyanogens.. In fact today they ave decided to pull support for the device.
What are my options for getting Gingerbread onto my Hero GSM??
I have seen Elelinux's mod highly spoke of, but it is based on Cyanogen mod (i think). Does it too have the same memory leaks??
Thanks in advance!
Cyanmod have Officially Ceased supporting the HTC HERO as they don't have a DEV supporting the Developement for the HERO
THE LAST Cyanmod for HERO is I Guess version 7.02 and thats it
Elelinux's Gingerbread is Based on the CM7 but He does his own tweaks as well you can always check the thread for what problems people are reporting for the ROM
There is another GIngerbread ROM by 'Cronos' which you could try, but you will have to google for it as I don't think I might get away with posting links here
google for 'cronos project'
I have used elelinux's Roms a lot so like his work but is personal choice and thats what XDA offers it members 'CHOICE'
Don't make assumptions about ROMS .
Try them yourself and stick to the one you like the best
in his latest version (2.0), elelinux included a special patch that has to be flashed separately after flashing the ROM, and on my Hero it reduced the amount of black screens and invisible menus by a great deal. They still show up every now and then, but only when doing memory-intensive stuff. Go check out the thread
Haven't tried Cronos yet, but they also get some good credit I believe.
Hey guys!
I would just like to ask a few questions that I've failed to find answers on that I deem reliable. I have installed custom ROMs before, just not on the RAZR.
Firstly, is there any ICS, or better yet, JB update that works for me that live in Sweden? I would prefer JB, but only if its stable and functional.
Following up on the question about JB, I'm pretty sure I read about somebody running JellyBean Cyanogen on their razr? Is this correct, and if so, how is the experience, and where do I fetch it? (I have looked on cyanogenmods website, but I can't find my specific phone, only the Droids, and they dont even look the same)
So if no Cyanogen exists of Jellybean, one with ICS would be just as good. What I want in short terms is pretty much someone to point me onto how to get a stable ICS or JB release on my RAZR.
Could anybody help me out?
I'm running Jelly Core CyanCore v1.1, and am absolutely loving it on my Razr Maxx. One thing I really want to try is the softkeys. I can't seem to find a .ZIP or anything that will work with my ROM, when I flash them my phone won't boot, so I have to reset and restore my ROM.
Does anyone know of a working softkeys mod for the Razr?
The soft keys are in the droid razr hd rom v1.1,

Perhaps you could get some details from matt or kebob?
Can a dev look at this... I've tried porting JB miui and ICS miui to our Kexec's for SS 3.11 and have failed miserably. Can a dev that is better than I look at this... I feel like we can port using our ICS Kexec since SS 3.11 can run ICS or JB kernel as long as its a KEXEC. I'm not hoping for JB Miui since its in beta anyway... but I feel like ICS could really work. I got to the boot ani by combining the existing MIUI for CDMA (miuiandroid) (wasn't complete) and hashcode's ICS Kexec... now it didn't go any farther than the boot ani... but I felt like that was progress. Just asking for a little help... in a little over my head.
This is for the CDMA Razr 912 btw. Thanks guys.
You are better off posting this on the MIUI site. XDA doesnt support MIUI in any way.
Just as a quick intro, I'm not a total noob, but I'm no expert either. I had an OG Droid that I rooted and had installed several ROMS before upgrading to a Droid Razr. I decided to root this one also and I'm running CM 10.1.3 with JellyBean X kernel, all installed with Safestrap.
I had some issues with my baseband not working properly with CM, so I decided to try to install a clean version of Jelly Bean to see if that helped the problem. The ROM I was going to download required me to install BMM 3.0.4 which I did. Once that was done, I rebooted and lo and behold the phone booted into the original Verizon version of Jelly Bean. At this point I have not installed anything but BMM. Why did this happen? I thought I had done a wipe when I installed CM. Is this because I installed CM into a second slot and now BMM is booting to the original slot? As far as I know, CM is still on the phone somewhere. How can I get back to it? Is it going to be a problem as far as phone performance to have both of them on the system at the same time?
Finally, like everyone else, my goal is to get the best performance out of this phone. I would like to avoid the stock ROM due to all the bloatware. Is the clean JB a good option? Will this fix the baseband problem (poor to no service)? Is there a baseband fix I can use in conjunction with CM?
Thanks and sorry for all the questions.
Not sure if you are just looking @ AOSP ROMs, but I've done well with the bionx ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45291834:
Its stock based, haven't had any issues and its different with some Xperia launcher and whatnot. Has a lot of options/tweaks in dashboard app as well..
