Believe it or not, Xbox Live does not use a lot of data over our 4G LTE connections.
About 10 games of MW3, some youtube videos, and a few network tests over my 4G on the Xbox only got me 262MB download and 16MB upload.
Anyway, the wifi in my house works real well, and I don't need my LTE for my XBL but LTE is even better than my wifi so I'm thinking I'd see some performance improvement for matchmaking.
However, the NAT is always moderate and I do suffer from higher than average ping,
I know the fixes for routers, etc, but is there a similar option to open ports and such on the wifi tether app to open my NAT?
Thanks.
Been using mobile hotspot for ps3 cod for a while now. No problems at all, other than the high pings and moderate . So would like to know too.
Very interested in finding a answer for this as well. If anyone wants to play mw3 my gamertag is xturbom3x

i haven't tried with xbl as both of my 360's are rr'd. i have used it on my gaming netbook however and find it works rather well most of the time.
The only thing I've seen as a solution is here, post 8. It uses barnacle, which I don't even know if that works with the Rezound.

If I had better service at my house I would use LTE, my wifi at home just comes and goes as it pleases.
But, my PS3 does pretty good with my hone wifi anyway. I even end up being host on mw3 sometimes.

I used to see low pings on lte, less than 80 all the time but in the last 6 months, its consistently low 100's here in san antonio.
Considering my home wifi is 5-15ms ping, I'll stick to that. (TWC Wideband)
What app are you all using to tether?
The Wifi Tether app that's included in most ROMs now.
I can't get it to work. Done everything that Scott said and it just doesn't work. But Bluetooth works.
I like to use my phone for gaming tethering. I can play minecraft and tekkit flawlessly. That is not much to say though. I can play leaduebof legends with minimal lag. I can play starcraft 2 with minimal lag. I can play garrys mod with little lag but some lag spikes and lastly I can play bf3 with medium lag. Low. Lag is 40 ping. Medium lag is 80-120. Overall I think that the rezound is more than powerful enough to play most online games.

Very reliable but turns phone into a microwave.

I know how the wifi tether app works, most of us do, we're looking for a way to tether to XbL without a moderate or strict NAT, basically opening ports.

It seems like only a few people are having this problem.
I checked out the ipv6 Google test page, it says that my connection isn't ready for IPv6 (4g), when tested on 3g it says no problems detected. This seems pretty permanent to me, so I'm going to best buy today to see if any other 4g devices on Verizon are having the same problem.

I'm from LA (90024) and am having the exact same problem... I noticed it when Google Voice just wasn't working for me at all on 4G (both the application and google.com/voice). When I switch to 3G both load fine...
I tried the ipv6 test and have the same result - failure on 4G LTE and just fine on 3G.

I get great 3G service 1.5mbs consistently... but that's only because there's a sprint tower on top of the building where I work, Chandler AZ. Typically I get around 700kbs though, which is bearable but not amazing
Yeah I'm a little outside Birmingham Al and 3g speeds are amazing on the EVO 3D compared to what I use to get and 4g which I pick up in my apartment somehow is just incredible feels like my WiFi. When we get root I should be able to make it faster too.
I get great 3g and great 4g the signal is also much more stable than my og evo was. I tested it out with ps3 on 3g tethered and I played uncharted 2 online multiplayer without lag not even a studder I was simply amazed. I wouldn't use it as my default internet connection due to the fact that I have 50mbps fiber optics. But if there is an outage for some reason at least I know I won't be sol as far as gaming goes.

My 4g signal is worse then the nexus I replaced. I am going to try to get it exchanged with amazon but first I am calling sprint to find out what the deal is. The damn thing keeps on telling me to scan for service, I had one bar with nexus but it was damn consistent and never dropped connection this phone drops in the house like there is no tomorrow, and that is in the same location in my room.
There is no excuse that it shouldnt get good signal, if sprint cant figure out at their end, I will be trying to get it exchanged through amazon.
Guys this is just for the good ones. Sorry for the confusion. But I just wanted a positive thread as well. To let people know there are plenty of happy owners out there too.

It may be unrelated, but since the last xbox update I've had some issues with connecting my xbox to wifi. It'll be the only device(like you with 4g) that won't connect fine. The only solution I've found is to reset my router and restore my network settings on my xbox.
You might want to try rebooting your phone or force stop your tethering app.
Although technically possible, I think this may be a bit ambitious. Even if it did connect, I doubt the performance will be good enough for smooth online play.

The processor has little to do with internet speeds. It helps, making things more responsive, but the signal effects the data speed. And the antenna on the 3D are at the bottom near where you'd hold the phone which could degrade the signal.
Is the phone faster than the 4G? Yes. Does that mean you'll get faster data? Not necessarily.

This is dependant on location. I'm not doubting you are experiencing slow network speeds, but it's purely a matter of tower saturation, and your surroundings. I'm consistantly seeing downloads in the range of 1.0-1.7 mbs. Sometimes, at night, I can break 2.0 mbs, but that's because there isn't much activity. But, I'm in a major metropolitan area, with strong network coverage from the major 4 carriers. There was a blip for about 8 months where the speeds were really slow, but Sprint fixed the tower by my house, and now I'm back to normal.
And, to the OP, I didn't notice any difference in download speed between my Evo 4G, and Evo 3D.

The Airave doesn't provide 4G Signals. It does however provide 3G Data Connection which is usually faster than what you'd get from a Sprint Tower. Also Depends on your internet connection that you'd be hooking the Airave up to.

My evo 4G is actually a lot better about picking up a 4G signal, but the speeds are about the same with both. The 3G and 4G antenna are still on top with the 3D but the wifi and Bluetooth are indeed on the bottom of the phone.
If you're not getting at least 600kbps on 3G call sprint and let them know. That's the minimum speed they advertise do usually they'll credit your account for it.

Anyone else been having very slow speeds on Verizon lately? It's been slowing down for a few months now. I used to get 20 - 30mbps download and lately it's been averaging around 5mbps. I've already tried "resetting" the phone & even switching roms. I'm wondering if it's network congestion or if they're finally throttling me(since I have unlimited data still).
I am also unlimited...just ran a speed test and hit 40.6mbps. Usually I'm around 25-30 though.

Here in Philly LTE speeds have been horrible, as low as .5mbps for me. And that was tested a couple of weeks ago. Data is essentially useless, so I just bumped down to a 250 meg package. I try use wifi everywhere I go, or try not to use data. Gettin' real bad.
Data speeds entirely depend where you live and who else is using the bandwidth. If you live in a crowded city you might not get great speeds during peek time. If you live in a rural area if you even have LTE there like me the speed is basically consistent I get about 20-30mbps at best. However like mentioned before I just try to use wifi all the time because I am limited to my 2gb and wifi is usually avaliable to me.

It's never even kinda-snappy here in Philly. Plain slow, all the time.
I've just generally not been getting good speeds anywhere. I get about 16/4 (D/U) in the best area of my house (my room) but the living room is like 8/1.8... I mainly use it for uploading. (TWC ISP gets me about 15/1mbps) My friends house in the town over I barely get 3G. However closer to the lake (erie) I can get 20-30.
Fastest I've ever got was 36/32 in Detroit.
Also I should mention that I've never seen speeds get better since I switched from AT&T to Verizon...
Inc -> rezzy -> DNA
Forgot to mention my house is on a lake if that has anything to do with signal and speed.
