1.06.00.1216 Reboot problems. Help? - HTC EVO 3D

So i had to take my phone in because my radio died and could not get cell reception. And of course they had to give me a hboot 1.50. So i used the downgrade trick and got it to 1.40 which of course security flagged the phone. No problem I flashed the 1.13.651.7 OTA/RUU exe and the phone booted up ran revolutionary on it and unlocked the bootloader flashed 1.04 and installed recovery. Everything was going swell. Updated the radio to 1216 and tried out a ICS ROM and phone would shut off some times when i hit the power to turn it on and it would reboot. tried a few ics roms got same results. so tried out some of the 2.08.651.2 roms and it still would reboot randomly. now im ticked. So i flash the 0.97.10.0808 no hboot it flashes more then just the radio but radio 2 and some other things and use the 2.08.651.2 steel rom and no more reboots. I was going on 8 hours with no reboots with 0808. so i figure maybe its fixed now so i put the 1216 radio back on and phones rebooting like clockwork every 20 mins or so. If i did not love this thing it would be bouncing off the walls right now. Of course ive not changed the rom back to a ICS one yet. but any ideas what the heck is going on?
Thanks in advance
Stealthee

Anybody with any idea on this ? There was one other thread started on this and no one answered or put in input on it either.

I had a similar issue with reboots after updating to that radio. I was only flashing the radio update. Freeza made a combo that updates a couple other bits and now I'm rock solid again. Here is the link to freeze'a thread:

hope that helps if you're still having an issue.

[Q] Sense Issues

I have been running MIUI for about a month as my daily driver. every few weeks i would try out a new MYN rom or a new Fresh Rom but it seems they always have the same issues. with any Sense Rom i run i get reboots every so often for no reason. also i get Forced closes on Google Music and Pandora. I am not a noob to flashing Rom's at all as i have been doing it sense the Hero days, but i am at a loss on this one. I am using CWM but have also used TWRP in there just to see if it made a difference and it hasn't. every time i flash i do a full wipe and then run the Warm Format All utility. I have tried out several of the ICS Rom's and haven't had any rebooting issues. I even updated all of the radios in an effort to resolve this but to no success. I love Miui but i would like a stable Sense Rom to go back to every now and again if i am going to be in an area with 4G and need to tether. or use my stereo Bluetooth headset.

Odd indeed. Perhaps a kernal issue? Are you on Hboot 1.4 or 1.5? Also, check out CleanROM as it is a VERY stable and fast rom. Little to no issues with it.
thanks for the advice. I got fed up today as the issue continued and even started happening with MIUI. I ran the latest RUU on the phone and took it to a sprint store and they ran a benchmark on it for about 30 min and nothing happened. They went ahead and ordered me another phone. Here is the strange bit. I ran the 2.08 RUU and i confirmed that it put HBoot 1.50 on the phone. when i got back to my office i ran the 1.13 RUU and it had HBoot 1.40 back on it. I then re-rooted with Revolutionary and i am finishing up with it now. I thought once you had 1.50 you were stuck with it no matter what.

odd indeed. hope everything gets worked out for you. definitely check out CleanROM as it is a great stable rom when you want to go back to the stock sense look/feel and still have great performance.
I will give it a try. I have used it in the past. Thanks for your help.

wait, so you can just RUU to an "outdated" stock ROM if you're stuck on hboot 1.5? that seems too easy to do, it's hard to believe that's not common knowledge. I would test this in a heartbeat myself if I wasn't one of the lucky ones who got a phone with hboot 1.3 when I bought my phone less than a month ago
i ran the 2.08 ruu went to sprint they booted into the bootloader in front of me and showed me what he was going to do. i looked and confirmed that it said hboot 1.5 it was still s-off and he didn't notice that i dont think. i got back to my office booted the bootloader and once again confirmed it was 1.50. i started looking for ways to downgrade. while i waited i installed the 1.13 ruu in the hopes it might do something and it did. I found the ruu here on XDA and it put me back to 1.4 with the .97 radio and everything. i ran revolutionary and re rooted and then restored the last backup i had and i am still using it now.

Bootloop city.

so my wife got a replacement evo being hers had a few. issues. came with 1.50 hboot. i did the downgrade method to 1.40 phone constantly reboots or bootloops at times. i figured well maybe was a firmware issue. so when sprints firmware leaked. i updated it all even bootloader. its now 1.58 hboot. shows locked but s-off. i still have 4ext recovery installed on it. i have tried to flash the stock rooted rom. the phone boots after sits idle for a litle while it will go into boot loops. im at my wits end here. thinking it maybe hardware now. want others opinions. before i flash stock non rooted and bring it in for service. any thought?
You could try to unroot and go back to stock to see if the bootloops stop.
Man i love FrootLoops.. oops.. crap, i read the title wrong..
ON a serious note, do what coal686 said, go back to factory stock and start from scratch. Take out as many of the variables as possible.
so how do you suggest i do that? there is no ruu for the new ota update. im on newhboot. so im lost as to how to attempt to relock to stock for service.
so i ran the pg86img for 2.17 everything down graded fine. then rat the ota update to ics. updated to ics 2.89 fine. weird thing is it still shows s-off. only thing so far sense has froze on her twice. but the reboots have stopped. waiting a day to make sure. then ill unlock if i need to.then stock rooted for her.

You don't need to unlock as s-off is better.

I'm in the same boat the only difference is my wife's phone is completey stock no root & s-on latest ics update hboot 1.58 u know the rest. Started bootlooping out of nowhere & I don't know what to do,did a factory reset through bootloader & still bootloops like crazy! Any ideas would be helpful & thank you in advance!

[Q] Freezing and crashing Rezound

Hope my fellow nerds can help me out..
I have been rooted unlocked and S-OFF for many months
I was running Android 4.0.1 stock I believe, not so sure now, and it ran well for several months.
About a week ago, my phone started acting up.
Symptoms:
-Freezing for ~10 seconds about every 30 seconds of use
-If I call anyone, the phone freezes but continues with the call, still able to talk and hear, screen completely non-interactive. Restarts itself in the middle of call after about 60 seconds.
-The power button turns off the screen, but not always the touch button lights. The times that lights stay on, the screen randomly comes back on, goes back off, and the button lights stay on, repeat..
-When trying to power off, the screen goes off, buttons stay lit, still receive notifications etc. for about 30 seconds then finally powers off.
-When the screen is off, it doesn't always want to come back on.
Fix attempts:
Factory Reset, wipe cache, and dalvik
flashed RUU 4.03.605.2
flashed TWRP_v2.2.2.1v4.5
flashed Nils' Business_ICS4.0.3_Sense3.6-v6.3
still had problems...
OLD:
HBOOT 2.25.000
Radio 1.22.10.0421r/1.22.10.0424r
Current:
HBOOT 2.27.000
Radio 2.22.10.0801r/2.22.10.0803r
please ask me anything that might help.
I would try amonra recovery. It is the most reliable for pretty much any phone. Nils room is rock solid stable and fast. Almost seems like hardware problem to me but not necessarily. Try amon ra, factory reset, wipe cache, dalvik, AND SYSTEM 3x each then flash Rom again. Try ineffabilis dues 1.2 as well. Then report back
Sent from my Rezound using Tapatalk 2
I agree with evocm7 but I'd run the latest ruu again.. while stock do a factory reset.. then flash amon ra. Then flash your rom again..
sent from my s-off reZound rockin' viperRez Rom on global ICS firmware
Quick update.
I reinstalled 4.03.605.2 and then performed a factory reset and the phone was working flawlessly until I made a phone call.
I played with it a good 10 min before I made the fail call.
then installed Amon Ra 3.15, Wiped EVERYTHING..
currently installing RUU 3.14.605.12 (wanted to see if I have more luck with an older version?)
Download on Ineffabilis Deus v1.2 is down I guess
forgot
One thing that I forgot to mention is that when booting up, sometimes it says "upgrading android"
I have no idea why it has been doing that, it does it with all roms but not every boot, just most.
I feel like there is part of the phones firmware is corrupt and it doesn't get changed when you factory reset or wipe or reinstall. There has to be a way to reformat the ENTIRE phone right? One of the times after wiping everything and installing a new RUU, when running it was like "Would you like to recover this email we found to be previously on the phone?"
update: currently running ViperRez 1.0.3 same problems.
RUU 3.14.605.12 didnt help
Amon Ra didnt change anything
RUU 4.03.605.2 -> then ViperRez

[Q] Phone freezes, reboots, and other problems

JunoBear 1.50 s-off
4ext recovery
Mean ICS v2.6
Anthrax kernel 3.2.2
Radio 1.06.1216
Sprint CDMA
Problems:
Phone reboots randomly, even when in call
Phone freezes randomly
Holding down power button>power options> to restart> doesn't fully restart
getting a lot of roaming from home to work which never happened. Have to update prl back and forth from work to home which is annoying in itself.
What i have tried:
usually have to take battery out then can power back the phone on.
1.Wipe cache+dalvik, cache, dalvik cache
2.format system, data, everything, even sd card
3.tried superwipe
4. tried different roms MikVirgin 1.01, Mean ICS, Paranoid
5. tried different hboot eng 1.04, 1.40
6. tried the kernel with flashed rom, anthrax kernel, buttertoast
7. tried different variations with different roms,h-boot, etc.
Your radio is the problem. The ROMs and kernels you have mentioned on here run on the latest radio firmware. That the would explain why your phone freezes up when you try calling people and the random reboots are kernel and hboot incompatibilities. Heres a short list of what I mean.
Anthrax kernels can run on any hboot.
So can butteredtoast.
Most ICS roms can only run on hboot 1.58.00.00 or 1.58.5858
With the exception of zr3d Xl plus and viper3d.
All aosp ROMs can only be run on hboot 1.5 or lower.
All of these ROMs run on radio 1.09.0706
I would reccomend flashing this file to get you back on stock and on latest radios (1.09.0706 SPRINT 2.89)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193101
I reccomend you downloading this from your PC. Place it on the root of your sdcard and rename it PG86IMG in all caps. Insert the card back into your phone and power your into bootloader. When your phone detects the file, press the volume key up to start the update. Once finished, you can reflash your recovery, and then flash a ROM. Remember that ICS sense ROMs work with hboot 1.58 and Aosp ROMs works with 1.5 or lower. Good luck.

Not to be argumentative since 99% of what you said is right, but the only CDMA ROM (ICS or other) that requires hboot 1.58 is Coolexe's ROM. Viper doesn't anymore and the others never have. Some prefer certain radios and firmware though as you said.
If what jsparta said doesn't work, then I'd run the ruu.exe located in ramjet's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438 . It will put you back to stock but s-off still. All firmware, radios, etc will be updated. If phone runs fine stock, then flash hboot, custom recovery and custom ROM. When I had issues, this fixed it fit me.
thanks guys. i'll give both a try. hopefully it will fix the problems.

i'm getting ready to try it today. i was giving it a day or so to see if the freezing problem was just a one time thing, but it turn out it's still doing it daily. And just today when my battery died, i charged the phone up, and powered it on, then it went into a boot loop.
any how for the ruu, is it necessary to relock the bootloader or can i just flash the ruu.exe?
update: i did the "fastboot oem lock" command, but output came up ...... <bootloader> Device was already locked!
my hboot screen shows

Shooter XC ship s-off RL
HBOOT-- 1.50.5050
Looking at your specs, it is not necessary to unlock or relock your bootloader being s-off. Your green lights to go ahead and run the ruu from your PC.

That Rom is pretty stable from my understanding, but maybe try a different one for a while. Maybe one that is sense 3.6 based, like zr3dxl.

Honestly, with the problems you're describing, it sounds like you need to flash back to stock and take it in to a Sprint repair center. I'm assuming all the freezes and reboots have been an ongoing problem?

that's not really an option. has a bad esn
Then, you're hosed. What you're describing with the freezes and reboots on multiple roms screams hardware issue and no about of flashing software is going to fix that.

[Q] Is my phone dead?

For the last week or so, I've noticed my Wi-Fi has been dropping in and out. I had been trying some JB ROMS lately and restoring to another Sense ROM. I figured it needed a big refresh, so I ran the 403.605.2 RUU from the root of the SD card in the PH98IMG.zip form.
Still the same issues, and now my 4G is really flaky.
Now I'm wondering if my phone is just on its way out.
Is running the RUU from a PC better?
Can I do any other wipe/flash combos to reset it even further?
I am S-Off...
Run the ruu again and perform a factory reset in hboot BEFORE installing a custom recovery.

Thanks for the info. I had run the 4.03.605.2 RUU a couple of times, and also the latest official RUU that updated to 4.05.605.14 with the correct radios you listed. I have no idea what was going on, but my phone seemed to get worse every step. It would reboot, Wi-Fi quit, the 4G quit. It would go into a bootloop on the white HTC screen and wouldn't boot until I ran the RUU again. It finally went to that mode where it wouldn't boot at all until I charged the battery for a few hours. I figured it was hosed, and started browsing eBay for something new.
I finally ran the latest official RUU again and let it update OTA to the latest. I then did a factory reset under settings, then from the bootloader. I ran it stock for a day, then finally last night installed Amon RA and installed EclipticRez v9 and (fingers crossed) things seem to be back to normal.
I really wish I knew what happened, and I'm wondering if it could be battery related. I was sure it was something hardware related. Nothing I did for the couple of days before I first posted helped...
Weird...my phone wasn't that loopy...I've seen similar errors on other posts but if followed proper steps should work fine...I always read twice and flash once just to be safe instead of getting flash happy lol..I updated radios because signal and battery life was poor and read that jelly bean required the latest ruu...so I did tons of research
