Has anyone else noticed that turning off icon labels makes... - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Makes the home screen way more responsive? I turned off my apex labels just for kicks and I no longer have ANY stutter on home screen transitions. Before there was a good half a second lag on initiating the scroll, and lots of stuttering on the transitions.

I posted about this a while ago. I reported it to the apex team and they said they'll look into it. No solution yet as of the last few updates...

I can't get my icon labels to show no matter what i do. Wiped everything before flashed and no issues other than this. If i put them in folders they show.

There's a point where if you set your grid too dense it'll auto hide labels. Try setting your grid to something smaller or increase your dpi in build.prop

Icons missing

Seems like everytime an app updates I no longer have the icon for the app on the home screen or other home pages. The short cut works however.,is there a setting I missed?

Launcher app

Hey, I was wondering how do you add apps to the launcher at the bottom by the app drawer buttons the home screen? I took out messaging and internet by accident and now I don't know how to add it back, thanks

Just drop and drop when you are in home screen, so make sure the apps are on current home screen (I'm pretty sure I don't use TW launcher)

If you are still using the stock launcher, I would highly recommend to change it. You won't have to root just download it of the market. Best launcher for SIII is Nova. Try it, it will let you have 6 icons vertically on the screen and so much more.
Good luck

[Q] How's Nova/Apex launcher running on the DNA?

Anyone installed Nova launcher yet? Coming from a GNex I think that would be my first order of business. Any performance issues, resolution problems, etc?

ive been running nova for over a week now, and it runs like a champ
I tried to deal with sense for about 4 hours yesterday... App spacing is atrocious and that dock is fugly and you can't change it to anything remotely attractive... Installed nova and doubt I will look back until maybe a desense Rom is developed

I got mine today and set everything up before loading nova back on. Nice and smooth as always.
Best thing is, the locksreen shortcuts are what is on the sense dock. You can set those to anything, then go to nova.
Anyone able to get wallpapers to scroll??
I'm trying Nova, but many of the Sense widgets are missing. I wish there was an app that would allow 4x5 layout on the stock setup. Does anyone know of anything like this? 4x4 just looks silly on such a large display.

Doesn't Apex do that? Set the grid to 5 x 4 in the home screen settings

He wants to use the sense widgets, but can't with a different launcher.

Any cool DNA tricks to share?

so does anyone have any cool little DNA tricks that they found out? I just realized that you can pinch to zoom in the battery info graph built into sense now... so you can expand and see each hour or shorten it to get your full day view. pretty neat!

I just found out (most everyone probably already knows) that you can pinch the homescreen to show all of them.

Me neither. Neat feature.
I have to say that I really am enjoying this latest version of Sense. It's a LOT less intrusive than past versions, and doesnt seem to have any major impacts on battery life.
It's like they took out all the crappy nonsense no one liked, allowed android to shine through where its better, and kept only the useful features of Sense. I like it.

For apps with long lists of items like music or messaging, you can scroll through by letter or date by using two fingers at once.
On the call screen before making a call. Press menu and you can open a fullscreen keypad for dialing
I know most probably know this but:
Once you fill up all 5 screens you can attempt to add another app or widget and it will populate a new blank screen for you. Also if you pinch to zoom at one of the home screens, it will give you an option at the top to add a panel (screen).

Is a vertical scrolling ROM possible?

I was just wondering if anyone has ever made a ROM where the desktop scrolling vertically. Or even vertically and horizontally. Or am I the only person to ever think that would be cool

This is more of a launcher issue.
sSLauncher, Lightning Launcher, both have pin features, both allow vertical and horizontal scrolling. Neither are roms, but everything on your homescreen will look exactly as you want it.
Both allow blank canvasses, each is unfettered by rows and columns (grids). Pin feature allows you to put whatever you want on the header or side strip if using horizontal scrolling (say a weather widget) that remains pinned to the top or side as you scroll through whatever you want (widgets, apps, folders, anything).
Learning curve on each is steeper than Nova, Apex, and others, but the effects are limitless.
Pretty much delivers on everything you'd want.
Of the two, sSLauncher is the more polished, but you can't go wrong with either.
I hope this helps.
