[Q] change all app drawer from left-right to up-down - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

in the 'all apps' drawer, anyone figure out how to change the screen-swipe to up-down from left-right, without installing a new launcher???

Yeah, I'd like this too. But I use Nova launcher, which allows vertical. I just really don't like having my app drawer scroll the same way as my desktop. Just not enough distinction between the 2.

i agree. its like just having a double-decker set of home screens. lame. i actually liked evo 1's app drawer better than the 3d's, where its a fluid scroll instead of stopping on 'pages'
i swear, adding an option for this would seem to be a no brainer

Exactly. I'm on same page.

Gingerbread launcher - problems?

I'm running Ginger Clone R2 Rom.
the Stock launcher is a Gingerbread launcher, but the 3D app drawer is annoying, is there anyway i can remove that, because i jsut don't like it and when im in the middle of the list, and go back to home screen, and go back to app drawer, its back at the top, how can i stop it from happening or is there another replacement which looks like that but without 3D or that problem?
Well there's a large number of launcher alternatives: LauncherPro, ADW, Zeam...
LauncherPro has a drawer nearly identical to the Gingerbread one (3D is a selectable option). I'm pretty sure that it saves your location in the scroll like you're wanting.

How to remove dock bar in ADW EX?

I just updated to the latest version of ADW EX, I found that the dock bar must appear and I can't hide or remove it.
Anyone have this problem as well?
You can hide it. Use a swipe gesture to hide/unhide it. Latest-latest update (1.3.3.55) allows it to overlay your homescreen instead of pushing everything up.
Sent from my T959 using xda premium
You can also Long Press your home screen, choose Launcher Actions, choose the Open/Close DockBar icon.
Use it once, to hide the dock, then delete the icon from your desktop. Voila! Dockbar is hidden, and won't come back until you go through the process again to reverse it.
WAAAAAAAY better than the stupid swipe action that you'll always be triggering by swiping on widgets like News360, Books, YouTube, etc.

I do the swipe method because I like to have the dockbar but I dont want it always visible.
You can keep from opening it while swiping on a widget by swiping the widget slower.
Never had an issue with the dock reappearing on an accidental swipe and I use both up and down gestures religiously.
Happens to me when using "tiled" widgets like the YouTube, Market, or Books widgets, if either swipe up or swipe down is selected. It's a "sloppy" swipe to use those, but ADW intercepts any motion outside the small cards.
It's not quite as bad on a widget with a bigger card, like News360, since you have more "finger on the widget" with the larger cards.
My method works fine, I have absolutely no use for the dockbar with the way I use Honeycomb.

When im scrolling through scrollable widgets, even if i go outside the widget during the scroll, as long as i dont lift my finger, it still registers as being in the widget.
If you're okay with your method, then use it. Everybody has their preference, mine is using swipe gestures to open/close dockbar and app list
I just mapped hide/show the hidden dockbar to the home button, but this feature may have been removed in the new version. I refuse to update it until he fixes what he broke (primarily the ability to stretch the screen to the edges, and the spacing of the bar.

Screen is stretched to the edges. I also kept from updating until today for that same reason. Unfortunately we failed to catch that during testing and it made it into the 1.3.3.5 update. But it's been fixed in the 1.3.3.55 update.

Someone knows how to remove the space between the screen edge and the widget as you can see in the screenshot? I updated to adw 1.3.3.55.. before i updated there was no space... :/

Unfortunately, there is no option to completely eliminate margins anymore. I believe it it was more of a "the code doesn't allow for it anymore" than just a "the option was removed" kind of thing.

Well, whatever the reason, it's still a step backward. The spacing on the dockbar is still ludicrous for a tablet. The old hidden dockbar I could have a lot more things on it. Even without scrolling functionality, I liked it better.
Newest update (1.3.3.56) now has the option to completely disable the dock for those interested.

Does anyone else notice that the widgets overlap when using adw ex? I use it on my phone just fine, but it looks horrible on my tab.
It doesn't matter if I install it from the same google account as my phone right?

Well, if they can't fix this, I guess I am stuck on the old version indefinitely if I want to use the Tab the way I've set it up. :/
Is the Hide/Show Action Bar (the top transparent bar with a few little icons and the access to the ADW settings) also gone now?
I just updated from 1.3.3.1 to 1.3.5.56 and my homescreens are all a mess now. I've lost some of the icons I had vertically, stuck to the righthand side of the homescreen as well. C'mon! I think we're really loosing precious tablet screen realstate with the latest changes, even if they have managed to quickly revert back to the option to disable the dockbar altogether.
Before the update I used this dock as my ICS style dock:
http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/928/hhhha.png
Now there is absolutely no gap between the dock items and the line anymore. Is there a way to let it look like ICS dock again?

I know the update caused all themes to need updating, but I don't know if the dock was affected. Have you tried the ics adw theme? https://market.android.com/details?id=kov.theme.ics Maybe even just try the dock from it.

[Q] Slow app drawer

I've noticed that the stock Sense app drawer scrolls incredibly slow in the "All Apps" tab and isn't much better in the "Downloaded" tab. Compared to ADW EX it scrolls about as quickly as Verizon gets updates out. Has anyone else experienced this?
My Sense app drawer scrolls just fine.
I have tried both LPP+ & ADWLauncher EX in mine & while both work very well I didn't really notice any speed difference between any of them.

Absolutely! Especially when you use a live wallpaper. It's crawling at about 15FPS it looks like.
I've just decided to either stick with a static wallpaper in Sense, or use whatever I want to in GO Launcher and enjoy the high speed smooth scrolling
I guess I never noticed because I never saw the point in using a Live wallpaper.

I don't typically bother with LWP's either, but I like the ICS Phase Beam LWP, so I tried it out. It's not smooth enough though.
Hopefully having real ICS on this phone with hardware acceleration will help the app drawer to be smoother.
IDK how all that works though or if it effects all aspects of the visual experience or not.
Well, I'm not using a live wallpaper. Just wallpapers from my gallery. I wanted to give Sense a try and I do like it, but the reduced speed of the app drawer is enough to convince me to switch back to the speed & added functionality of ADW EX.
It's not slow, it's designed that way. It is meant to show one full slide at a time rather than flocking through all of them at once. It's just how sense is, you'll need ti install another launcher to change it.

Jim - Yes, I'm aware that it's set up to scroll. Thanks for the heads up on that for anyone who hadn't figured it out. However...
I fixed it. I was scrolling through the app drawer today and hit the "Menu" soft key. I found an option to display the drawer as an alphabetical list instead of an icon grid and now it's fast as can be! I also love the list because it's more readable. I know this might not work for everyone, but hey, it's better than waiting for one slow page after another, right?

[Q] 3rd Party Launchers

Anyone having the issue where the launcher has the menu (the grey bar with 3 dots - not the scrollbar) on the bottom taking up space. both launcher pro and go launcher EX do it, however, Nova does not... the thing is, i like go launcher ex, but the menu bar annoys the crap out of me
adw launcher ex, which was the launcher of choice on my OG, made me so pissed that i got rid of it after about 35 minutes. that bar sucks nut.
sadly, i went back to sense. go launcher was decent on the OG. really decent. it also has the sh1tty menu bar
I got apex, but I really like the 3D app drawer like the nexus s... Oh well, at least it doesn't have the bar. Go laucher pro ex is the best but it has the bar. Blah
I want things like Camera and Wallet on my lock screen, but not on my normal interface dock. I have the HTC Launcher set up with everything I want on my lock screen, and then I'm running Nova on top of that. No dots at the bottom, just pure ICS bliss.

[Q] Loving this phone, few gripes with Sense 5 and 4.1 JB

So I just converted from the iWagon to this beauty. LOVING the IR receiver for my TV and the UI for program tuning! MAN oh Man. I actually had a moment where I thought to myself I may be too stupid or old for this phone (I'm 28 har har). It's worlds above iPhone.
Speakers are amazing as well!
However....
I also own a Nexus 7 and I'm not sure if it's because my N7 is running 4.2 JB or what but there are some features that are sorely missed.
Love the dual status bar swipe (swipe left side of top bar and you get progam specific notifications, swipe right side and you get system settings type notes). Also missing is the widget for ANY OTHER EMAIL other than Gmail. Gmail has a nice 3x3 scale-able widget where you can view (and scroll) recent emails, however there doesn't seem to be one for OTHER email address such as Outlook or Yahoo. My N7 has this widget and my co-workers have it on their Note 2's. May be an HTC thing.
Also, I really love the visual style of Sense 5 and the information flow screen is pretty great. BUT, I feel that the Nova Launcher better suits my needs for the Dock icons. I want to be able to have 6 or 7 icons (phone, sms, music, chrome, camera, mail, apps) on the dock at all times. Sense 5 doesn't let you customize it. Annoying especially because I use Chrome rather than the stock browser.
I wish there was some way to have the Sense 5 flow style combined with the good parts of Nova Launcher... Anyone know of a way to do that? If there was a way to combine both seamlessly, I would be STOKED.
Anyways, needless to say I love this frackin thing. Can't wait to see what people come up with for personal customization.

You can customize the dock. You have to open the app drawer then pull one of the ones off the dock and then add chrome. It's kinda stupid that you can only change them by opening the app drawer (as you know they just come back of you remove them while on the homescreen)

i stopped using sense a few hours after i got the phone and went back to nova launcher. blinkfeed was cool for a few minutes but i dont see using it in my daily life. i also miss having drop down toggles for things like wifi but i installed widgetsoid for that. if sense were more customizable and less clunky i may have considered keeping it but nova just does everything i want and more.

I have it set up the other way, but your way may even be better. Kind of like using blinkfeed as a lock screen, not really but like a landing screen.
