Anyone have any issues with the screen staying on while talking? I've noticed it kinda acts a little strange. Sometimes it stays on the whole call unless I hit the power button. Sometimes it stays on while in speaker and shuts off after I leave speaker. It been kinda random.

same problem here. i've just gotten used to turning it off with the power button
i was having the same issues and someone asked me if i had a screen protector, well , i did and decided to cut the corner where the sensor is and no more issues, if you got a protector you might be having it cus of it.
BTW, thanks donatom3, since you were the person who asked me if i had a protector and only after that i decided to cut a corner of it and solved my issue ..
i have a zagg hd from bestbuy...

Haven't really seen any posts on this, so maybe I just got a lemon...
Got my Flyer last night and first thing I noticed was that I had some light-bleed at the bottom of the screen in portait mode. 2 greenish blobs to be exact. Also some more slight bleed along the right side from top to bottom. I cranked up the brightness to just how bad it was, and lo and behold, found 3 stuck pixels.
Examined it a bit more and noticed a slight gap with light passing through along the bottom edge, where the screen meets the bezel. And last but not least, also a jaggy scratch on the aluminum itself.
I'm going to take back to BB and exchange for another, was wondering if anyone else had flaws like these? HTC build quality is usually pretty good, so I was surpised to see this on mine.

There seems to be some different issues depending on which version people have bought (EU/US/other, Wifi only/3G+Wifi).
I have EU 3G+Wifi,32GB version, my screen and the exterior was perfect, but the touch sensors are totally irratic. Sometimes the far most left edge doesn't respond in portrait mode, some times it seems to respond to nothing at all, just flicking the home screens around, pulling the status bar down, launching shortcuts, or typing random stuff, even the soft keys are buzzing and active when this happens.
It actually did this from the first time I powered it on, and it took me 30 mins to get through the first few steps to get it up an running because it kept pressing the wrong places and quite often hitting the back soft key. I tried a factory reset, it helped slightly, tried recalibrating the keyboard, tried various hacks found around these forums, nothing helped. It seems worse in landscape mode than portrait.
I am getting it replaced by Amazon, which is quite nice since it also seems to acquire scratches very easily, even using the capacitive end of the pen has left tiny tiny marks. So, I ordered some screen protectors just to be on the safe side.
No issues with mine, sounds like you just got a dud.
No issues with my and is 16 gb wifii
Ok, just exchanged and got my 2nd one at a different BB... more problems.
This one also has some light-bleed at the bottom, but not as bad as the 1st one. Also has 2 stuck pixels, you can see them perfectly using one of those screen tester apps. And lastly, the volume rocker is loose, when I pick up the tablet, it makes a rattling sound.
Also weird, when I first booted up, had a default wallpaper of a blue skateboarding Android on a dark background... was not the normal default HTC wallpaper, wtf? lol. The box was sealed shut, had never been opened. Weird.
So back to the store again tomorrow, gonna exchange.
Edit: Tried out one of those stuck pixel fixer apps and didn't work. The stuck pixel is red, can see it perfectly on a dark background. I'd be willing to keep this one despite that, but the loose rattling vol rocker is driving me nuts. Argghh!
Ok, I guess 3rd time's a charm because I got Flyer #3 today and seems to be perfect - no dead/stuck pixels or rattling vol rocker! Everything seems solid.
Interestingly, on #1 and #2, the 3d carousel effect never worked at all. But on this one it works fine. Really surprised I had to go through 2 bum units first to finally get one that wasn't defective..
anyone having issues with screen turning off as soon as a call is placed even when not near your ear?, i was trying to setup my voicemail and since the process ask you press numbers to confirm or # i coulnt do it cus the screen would just keep turning off and wont turn on until i use power ,but, it will only last few second and turns off again, very annoying cus i cant see nothing when i place a call, on my OG evo the screen would turn off when near my ear but would turn on as i got it away.
then the opposite the screen stayed on and had used power to turn it off but, it locked the phone and when i tried to unlock it as soon as i got near anywhere in the whole screen it would just turns off and wouldnt let me unlock it to hang up,
and sometimes it would stay on when i place a call and wont turn off even if i get it near my ear..
sorry for my english...
Are you using a screen protector or have a case on that covers any part of the front?
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
yes i am using a zagg screen protector, no cases.
i was thinking maybe the protector, i hope is not that cus i paid $25 plus $7 to have it install at bestbuy
i was just checking the protector and i can see it covers the sensor space...
EDIT: THANKS donatom3..i decided to risk the $32 dollars i spend on the protector and cut the little corner where the sensor is, now works great!! when i get to a call it wont turn off like it did, when i place a call and get it near my ear it turns off but when i get it away and comes on just like my OG EVO...thanks cus i only did it after you asked me..i hope this help someone else having issues...
As soon as I get on a phone call, the screen will turn off. I will push power and then 2 seconds later the screen will turn off again, but this time nothing will wake it up unless i hold the power button until it resets. I have no case and no screen protector on the phone. Any ideas? It's driving me crazy. It wont even allow to hang up the call or anything.
Bone stock. No Root.
Sounds like a proximity sensor issue. There's a little sensor about a half-inch left of the HTC logo text on the top of the screen. It's designed so when you put the phone to your face during a call, it will turn the screen off so it's not wasting energy/blasting the side of your face with screen light.
There's a lot of reports of screen protectors causing this issue.
Do you have a screen protector on that doesn't have the area cut out for the sensor? Zagg Invisishield has a little cut out chunk right where the sensor is at, but a lot of other screen protector makers didn't test before pushing their products out the door.

No screen protector at all.
If the screen is clean in the proximity sensor area and it's still doing it, I'd go get it swapped out. Some of them actually have issues, and the others were all caused by screen protectors.

Tried it again while outside and it didnt do it, so apparently it only does it when indoors. I will go to sprint tonight and try it again. I just passed my 30 days though so does that mean I get a refurb one?
I had the same problem as you. They replaced the phone but I was within the 30 days.

The phone is so new, there probably aren't any refurbs yet. You will most likely get a new one.

do you get another phone if you purchased via a third party dealer like wirefly or amazon?
I had the same issue....and would only happen in low light.....but I did have a zagg so I made Best Buy put a new one on and made sure it was all the way to the top....that solved the issue. My phone still turns off after I make a call but power will at least turn it back on now. Before I had to reboot as well to get out of a call.
Good luck hopefully they will let you exchange it.
+1 on the screen protector issue. Best buy put a new on for me also due to the cut-out slightly covering just the edge of the proximity sensor, thus screwing with the screen on/off issue. Once they did that all was perfect.

Since this is probably not fixable with an ota, would be cool if they added a toggle to disable/enable the sensor in call.

When I push (lightly) on the bottom area of the display - the capacitive button area - there is a pretty loud creak every time, as if the display pops out of the case and pushing it snaps it back in. All I have to do is touch either corner of the bottom of the display and I get this creaking. At that point, it stops, but if I try it again five minutes later it creaks again. Does this happen to anyone else, and is it a big enough deal to consider an exchange?

I don't have that problem. In my opinion, that is something pretty annoying and I would look to get a replacement, if possible

I experienced a similar issue on the TOP of the screen, where it the screen is flush with the body on the left side of the earpiece, but NOT completely flush on the right side of the screen (just under the front facing camera). The right side of the screen pops out a little bit. Anyone experience this? I am going to bring this to AT&T to see if I can get a replacement.

i had the exact same problem with the onex, what ever you do, dont squeeze it back in, you will end up with a yellow spot from what ever is underneath it, i went round the whole xcreen pushing and sticking it back in,it was all flush, no popping out on the corners or creeking, after about an hour i started getting yellow spots and lines at ther top under the speaker ans in the corner where it was popping out before, i actually got angry in the end and smashed the screen lol, cost me £170 from htc repair centre, phone is now better than when i purchased and a i regret to say its better than the onex+ i purchased while phopne was in repair, the scrolling on the onex+ is reall peaing me off now, its double clicking things, when i scroll it rubberbands and goes the other way lol, also it clicks on stuff in a different area to where my finger is sometimes when i scroll,i have a thread and im reporting it to htc after christmas, and i hope everyone else is, i want as many people as possible to get in touch with them so they no its serious, with a bit of luck we might get 4.2.1 earlier or at least a hotfix ota.Improved scrolling my ass.
The touchscreen on my Verizon G3 started acting up recently. In the lower portion of the screen there's a space where it doesn't register my touches well (take a look at pics the space in between the lines don't really 'register' my touches. You can see in the second pic I'm currently touching the part where its not really working and it looks like I'm touching the screen with two fingers even though I'm only using one). When I type sometimes two letters are pressed at the same time or its like I didn't touch the screen at all which makes typing difficult and takes a lot of time. The whole screen sometimes doesn't hold a touch, like I tap and hold but it only 'holds' like I only tapped the screen. Other times when I'm sliding my finger across the screen, it starts jumping around. Now the top row of the keyboard/screen doesn't even register touches anymore so can't really do much now. I've reset the phone and didn't fix anything. Is this something LG would fix if I sent the phone in? If so how long is turnaround and will I have to reset it back to stock/unroot it?
if you have any type of glass screen protector on, take it off and verify the issue.
some tg screen protectors are junk, and have caused issues like this.

I had a $5 glass screen protector on it from ebay and thought that was the problem but when I took it off the problems ensued
Some g3s do have or develop touchscreen issues. Check under the back cover that there is nothing putting pressure on the display from behind, like a swelling battery.
It is probably a warranty issue, though.
