Is there any way to root xt910 without PC? - Motorola Droid RAZR

My Razr USB connector malfunctioned
it can charge the battery only
is there any way to root without a pc?

NO! Else you have enough skill to give the commands diretcly from terminal emulator and also execute the exploit from the internal/external storage. But it's definately not sure that this will work.
Give your device to repair if you are sure that you connector doesn't work. Otherwise you could try another cable, maybe your cable is broken. Or your PC isn*t configured right. Check these things and try again.

i use the same cable to flash the razr from arctic 3.0 bk to 2.3.6 eu .
it works fine...

Maybe there is something wrong with the used drivers on your PC. Uninstall all of them then reinstall Moto-helper and try again to root your device.

Except the motofail exploit or zergrush they are both executable files and both need a pc.
Also wireless adb needs root sadly

Instead of disk drive put it in USB charge only. Also if it still doesn't work, restart the phone and try again. Let me know if your still having problems
Oh also, I just looked at your picture, your adb service is not running. Open command prompt and change your directory to where adb is. Typically something like C:/android/android-sdk/platform-tools.
Then type adb devices or any other command and that should start up adb. Once again let me know if you have any questions
Isn't this right?
It very well could be. Mine is set up slightly different. But go into the sub folders and you should find one named tools or platform tools and one will contain adb. So you just need to find adb.

? I am not sure adb is installed right, how do I know
By going into the sub folders of your android sdk going into tools or platform tools and it will be there. It's named adb.ext. ext being extension , I don't remember what the extension is. If you can't find it I would uninstall android sdk, go to the site http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html , download the recommended package, install it and when it asks where you want to install it use C:/Android/android-sdk.......
It could also be in your program files. I would just reinstall if you don't find it easily...
Re downloading now
Make sure you uninstall and delete everything so It's not sloppy...
Is it suposed to take forever once you get to the installing archives part?
Ya there are a few things that take a while. I don't know exactly what parts because I usually just leave it for a while and come back when It's done. Did you install it to the right location like I said earlier?
Yes i installed it where you said, it is still installing.........
ok re installed , tried 4 more times , somthing just isnt right and I don't know what it is?????
Dude just use the post thats Easy Frevo w/ overclock and bloat remover..u plug in phone to computer in charge mode with usb debugging on and make sure phone screen is not on(but phone is) and hit like 2 buttons to root and 2 buttons to overclock..so much easier

You still need adb for that method , that is where i think somthing isn't right.
What is it saying? Have you got adb started? You need to be able to get into the command prompt and run adb commands. Once you can do that if it doesn't work there are a few workarounds you can try but you have to have adb working.
this is what it is saying
Adb still isn't running. Have you found where adb is located yet?
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk
U shouldn't
i dont think you really need to root your phone if you can't even set up adb .... for one you are not even in the correct directory ... u have to cd C:/android/android-sdk/platform-tools then type adb devices

cant root? i got a problem

im trying to root my atrix, i have followed the steps in the post however each time i type in the flash preinstall preinstall.img the cmd says that it cant be read....im lost. is there a easier way too root instead of cmd. btw im on 2.3.4 i did nothing to my phone, im just trying to root it so i cant install roms
Make sure that you put all your root files, on your pc, on c:\root, and not in a subdirctory. Then, while you're trying to root, make sure you are in that directory when you're entering the commands.
the files inside the folder i download have to be in a folder or just in C:\
also when im in cmd the whole time it says that im C:\documents and settings\something>
also im running windows xp on a macbook if that matters let me know
make a folder in c:\
To get to root directory in command prompt: "cd c:\" (+ any other folder destination that you want to get to).
ok i flashed the preinstall and rebooted the phone, do i have do go back to fastboot? or just stay with the phone on (but the cmd says phone not found)

No, it needs to be on usb debugging to use adb.
If i remember correctly one of the steps does give you an error but you just ignore it and type the rest of the commands. Im not sure if that is the step you are on though.. Im just recalling from memory. Complete the rest of the steps in the tutorial you are using and see if it works

well I'm about out of suggestions here. My only other one is to run cmd "as administrator" or you can flash an image with root built in.
However, it should work. this is the method I used to root my atrix and countless others as well. Also you may want to make sure you have the right device drivers installed too.
whats the other method? coz i just keep getting this stupid premission denied the whole time, or how do i know if im on admin cmd?
Get rootchecker from the market and check to see if you have root privileges.

To run as admin right click cmd and choose the "run as admin" option.. If you are admin the directory you start out in is C:\
windows/system32.
i think thats the problem coz im running as "owner" but i cant get into admin becouse there is a password required that i dont know, anyone know what would be the password?

[Q]USB otg cable working yet?

Has anyone been able to get the USB host to work with SebastionFM v1.4.0 kernel? I've been playing around with it but no success. I'm running Newts one xxx Rom. Does it have to be enabled in the Rom as well, or do I need to change the fstab? I made a cable, but it may not be right.

Try putting a powered usb hub into the equation. I don't know if if will work, because I don't have one, but his sensation kernel needed one to work. But I've been unable to get it working as well.
I made a "y" so it will charge the phone and give power to the USB device, that's no problem. I think it has to do with the vold.fstab file and telling it where to mount at. The sensation kernel download has the updated fstab in the download, but the rezound does not. In the fstab, The mounting scripts are different for the internal and external sdcards than they are on the sensation, I tried adding the line from the sensation to the rezound, but all it did was make my sdcard unreadable. So I restored it and my sdcards work again but no USB drive. I don't know enough Linux command line to really mess around too much. Maybe if someone else does we could get it working right.

You don't need to modify /system/etc/vold.fstab to enable USB OTG. It is only configuration file for Volume Manager. If you'll add
Code:
dev_mount usb /mnt/sdcard/usb auto /devices/platform/msm_hsusb_host.0/usb1
first FAT/FAT32 partition of connected device will be automatically mounted to /sdcard/usb directory. Unfortunatelly vold made by HTC has limited functionality, it doesn't mount automatically NTFS partitions.
If you want to check if OTG is working, run command ls /dev/block from Terminal Emulator before and after connecting USB device. You should see additional items, e. g. sda1, sda2 in this sysfs entry.
Thanks Sebastian, ill try this and see if it works on mine. If not then ill assume its my homemade cable not jumping the 5th prong and letting it go into host mode. Have you verified this to work?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
well i double checked my cable and soldered it correctly. i added the line into the fstab but still no dice. the /devices/platform/msm_usb_host.0/usb does not exist in the system though. There are several other /msm_*** entries, but none that have the usb host. are there other files i am missing from the sensation kernel, or should it make them itself? I ran ls /dev/block from the terminal before and after trying to mount but no changes. i did reboot with it connected and it acted like i was connected to a pc, so i just checked charge only. maybe ill try using as a disk drive and see what happens.

dmesg > /sdcard/kernel_log.txt

This log doesn't contain initial information. Try to get it earlier.
I've done it as soon as possible after it loads, but I can't seem to do it fast enough to het the initial part. Is there a way I can script it into the boot sequence? I'm not familiar enough with the deep parts of the system to do it on my own, but I know enough that I can follow directions if you give it to me.

30 seconds after boot will be fine. You could also show me your log after connecting USB OTG. When boot will finish, connect USB OTG without any devices and without power connected, disconnect it after few seconds, connect USB and immediatelly get kernel log using adb.
Ok, I will try this when I get home today and post results

sorry it took so long. here is the dmesg from boot that starts with <6>[ 0.000000] Booting Linux on physical CPU
and here is the kernel log taken immediately after connecting and disconnecting my otg cable not connected to power or a device.
and just for good measure, here is the logs from connecting the otg cable with power and a usb thumb drive. and the other log is disconnecting the cable. I connected the cable to the phone first, then the usb device, then to power. i disconnected simply by pulling the otg from the phone. once again i appreciate you taking the time to try and figure this out for us even though you arent using a rezound. ill help anyway i can.

[Q] Device not detected in ADB after installing CM10.1 via Safestrap

Hey All,
So I went to push an app from Eclipse to my XT910 (CM10.1, via Safestrap, Rom Slot 1), and found that it wasn't detected by Eclipse, or ADB. Debugging is enabled, and I have the official Motorola drivers installed
When rebooting into the Stock Rom, i was able to use ADB, and push the App to my phone. Is this Regular behavior, or am i missing Something?
There are even another method to push the apps to ya RAZR rather then pushing it from adb or eclipse
Thanks!!
Please hit the thanks button if i helped ya in anyways !!!

About the debugging i have no idea because i aint no dev but how ya can push apps to phone is just simple method
1- open root explorer or download from play store if ya don't have
2- then copy the apk from ya internal or external sd card
3- paste it into the data ( root ) and fix the permission
4- reboot
5- profit

Okay, so again, it's not an Apk. And it needs to run through adb for debugging purposes. (eclipse compiles, and data is sent 'back and forth' between device and eclipse)
Does it show in the notification that debugging is on.?
Also what CM10.1 build are you on?
I tried using and it didn't ran the first time. However I disabled & then enabled it back and it worked flawless this time.So thats not a bug.

Yeah, I do get the notification, and it's the 05/07 nightly.
Yesterday I set up a vm running Ubuntu 12.04, and tested adb from there, and it worked, which would suggest a driver issue with windows, but seeing this happens with both my desktop and laptop, I'm not too sure.

That might be cause you installed the drivers from the same place to both your machines. Since the notification turns on, it suggests nothing is wrong at the phone side.
Re-download the drivers and try re-installing.

Code:
C:\Android SDK\sdk\platform-tools>adb backup -all
It doesn't work and give me a lot of text..
EDIT: Maybe need I to put a name after -all ?
EDIT2: Retried adb and get in recovery mode
Code:
Microsoft Windows [version 6.1.7601]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. Tous droits réservés.
C:\Windows\system32>cd C:\Android SDK\sdk\platform-tools
C:\Android SDK\sdk\platform-tools>adb devices
List of devices attached

C:\Android SDK\sdk\platform-tools>adb backup -all santos
Now unlock your device and confirm the backup operation.

Cool. Glad I helped.
My friend`s i9001 had a broken screen. So in order to recover data, I Just connected phone with usb to PC. Even though I could hear connection sound from both my PC and Phone but Phone was not visible in PC.
So I just ranged my friend`s i9001 number. When phone started ringing I pressed HOME Button. I was able to receive call. I disconnected the call within 10-15 seconds. Then after 7 to 10 seconds, I again ranged i9001. And voila I could see phone in My Computer. I have tried in windows 8 64 bits and windows XP. In windows XP , I just installed Samsung SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_1.4.6.0.exe. However in windows 8 I also installed kies. But after installing kies I againg installed SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_1.4.6.0.exe.
