[Q] Disk Drive only reads SD card? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

On the Samsung Epic 4GT you can access both the internal drive and SD card when you plug it in to the computer. Can we not do that with the EvoLTE? I only get the SD card read. The Samsung does both simultaneously.

This is normal as most HTC devices don't have the extra built in storage that the Samsung devices have

When I connect using Media Sync instead of Disk drive, the phone shows up as "android phone" in windows 7, and inside android phone there is both "sd card" and "ext sd card". Mounting using disk drive only give access to ext sd card.

use airdroid
i get to access all storage devices
plus its wireless

Media Sync lets you access MTP partitions, and the internal storage of the phone can only be accessed via MTP.
If you mount as disk drive, you are using USB Mass Storage ONLY. This means that only a microSD card can be read, as the internal storage is not formatted using FAT32 (it's a virtual partition inside of /data)

[Q] Droid Bionic Internal Storage Has Disk Error on USB WIN7

The first couple of times I plugged the Bionic into the USB port under the USB Mass Storage setting it showed the Internal storage as a drive labeled MOT as well as the SD Card labeled Removable Disk. It was necessary to move some restore data to the internal disk because the app could not find the data on the SD Card. It was necessary to do this with another app and Win7 popped up a Disk error for the internal storage drive. Now Win7 cannot access that disk. I had errors on the SD Card on my Droid1 and was able to take the card out of the phone and put the card directly into the Win7 card reader and do an Error Check and Repair. Any ideas on how to do an error repair on the internal storage disk on the Bionic?

[Q] wasting space sdcard & externalSDcard

Hello.
I just bought a MicroSD, and saw on ESExplorer that the phone mounts the externalSD inside the sdcard folder /sdcard/external_sd
That way, it thinks I only have 11.5Gb available and everything I put inside my external_sd actually fills the internal memory.
I should have 11.5+8=19.5 but I don't.
Any way to fix this?
Thanks a lot!
I can't believe no one has a Galaxy S2 with an external Sd card!

Settings menu/storage and did you format it there first? Or do you use Kies and what is it using for sending stuff to your memory (Internal or External First?)
In settings/storage do you see both cards? In mine I can see SD card 29.81gb & USB storage 11.5gb.
Yes it shows the external card folder in the internal file explorer. It doesn't mean files are saved on the internal card. It was also like that on the S1 as well.
When you connect to PC in USB mode the PC will show both cards separately.

external_sd is just the mount point. You will only have ~12gb available on your internal memory because the phone uses some memory for the OS. I only have 7.4gb usable on my 8gb external sd. The available memory is always smaller than advertised

[Q] Unable to move apps to INTERNAL USB STORAGE.

Somebody plz let me know any workaround for moving apps to Internal USB storage. Under settings>application manager> there is an option to move apps to external sd card only. Is it possible to install/move apps to internal usb storage (around 11.5 GB). Please help.

I can only think of using a usb cable and manually storing in Internal SD Card.
Is it possible to partition the internal usb storage so as to use it as an external sd card ? Or can we change the default installation location of apps to Internal usb storage.
Please note that I am not using an external sd card. So i would like to move/install apps to internal usb storage. I have also read that many android phones have this option "Move to usb storage" under application manager.

Try taking out the data from the sd card, removing the sd card from the phone, and moving that data to the Internal SD Card. I don't think Shostock3 has that option.
I have all my apps and data installed in internal storage (i.e. 2 GB storage). But unable to move them to usb storage. I haven't mounted any external sd card. The storage is as follows :
Internal storage - 2 gb which is almost full because of apps
USB storage - 11 GB of which 9 GB
is occupied with audio, video and other files.
I seek to use this free space of usb storage for installing apps.
Try the app Move2SD.

None of the apps allow moving of apps to usb storage. They could only move them to external sdcard.

I found the solution for you. Try going into applications, click the app you wanna move, and click Move to SD Card. If it moves to the external card, remove that then try. It works for me.
Without external sd card mounted, when i click move to sd card; it says "not enough storage space". But with external sd card mounted, I am able to move apps only to external sd card and not usb storage.

That's imo going to be your best bet. Just manually move your apps to your usb storage through your pc.
Also, if you have ES file explorer, have you tried to use it to move your files to the usb storage?
Thanks for your replies. I have mounted an external sd card and using link2sd to move apps to it. One thing I noticed that with sd card mounted, when I move apps to external sd card, some part of the app moves to the usb storage and also the app size increases after doing so. However, still there is no direct way of moving/installing apps to usb storage without an external sd card.

free up storage space
A simple way to free up storage space is by deleting all the log files in the device memory. Just dial *#9900# on your phone and select option 2 “Delete dumpstate/logcat” in the prompted menu. It's not necessary to root your phone either. That’s it!

FYI, this code only works on Samsung-based roms; it won't work on AOSP roms.

SD card won't show on Windows after delete partition?

So I connected my Sd card with my computer the other day, and I used Paragon Partition Manager. Didn't think too much before doing it. SD card won't show on windows, but can see it in my phone.
Also, my phone's internal storage is showed as a portable mediaplayer. Why won't it show like a external drive? Thanks for the help.
EDIT: Forgot to mention. I have all USB drivers installed.

[Q] SD Card file size limitation.

I have a non-rooted all stock phone. With a 32 GB micro SD card in it.
Question: How can I transfer files > 4 GB to the card?
If I format the SD card to NTFS, will the phone recognise the card?
If not, ext, etx2,.. format? How? And will my stock phone recognise the card? Will my Windows PC recognise the card?

Just format your SD card in EXFAT format and you will be able to transfer files > than 4Gb to the card :good:

Thanks. Is it possible without an adapter? If I connect the phone to the PC, I am able to format the SD card but I do not have the option to choose the file system.

If you connect your phone in USB mass storage mode (not MTP) your cards will appear as removable drives with dedicated letters..
You have to activate the connection to PC and from there with Windows you can format your SD card as a normal drive and chose the format.
The phone shows 2 connection options: Media Device (MTP) and Camera (PTP). The SD card does not show up as a drive with either of them..

The procedure given is the one I use with my Galaxy S2 ... so far I didn't try with the Mega
I'll have to look how to put the phone in USB mass storage mode (if possible ?) .
The simplest way would be to put your SD card in an adapter and format it on the PC.
---------- Post added at 02:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:03 PM ----------
Yes you are right it seems that the USB mass storage mode has been taken out of the newest phones :crying:
I have found this application it might work for the Mega ...If you are routed you can give it a try.
Thanks. I'm not rooted so I'll do it with an adapter tomorrow.
Too bad if you are not routed .... as I have just tried the application and it works with the Mega :good::good:
Re:
Yea it worked from PC..
I formatted in exFAT and all's well.
