Is there any way to turn the voice prompts off? That is, when I open a folder or go to edit home screen, my phone "talks" and it is quite annoying.
Thanks!

Having the same issue
I'm also having the same issue as you. I think there might be an app in the app store to fix it. I'll try to do some research about it. If i find out any more info, I will let you know.
I have problem also, is this allready fixed somewhere?
+1 this is really annoying! Only way to make sure its not going to shout at you in silent situations is to put media volume to 0. Still effort though, kinda ridiculous.
Driving mode on/off
Or
In setting, accesebilities Talkback ...on/off.............It's for blind and/or disability.

Hi guys:
Since I am quite new to here with less posts, I can not post this question to the development forum yet. But I hope someone can help me on the Rom modifications.
The AT&T Note is my first Android device. I like it and rooted and flshed with the modified Saurom VIIa already. But I just could not find a way to ture off the voice alarm on new email arrival.
In stock rom, I only hear a pin drop sound notification of new emails, which is perfect. However, in the Saurom, I now get a female voice alter "one new email" which is annoying when it is quiet or during a meeting. I search almost everywhere on my note and just could not find a way to turn it off. Did I miss anything or is this a "built-in" feature for the Saurom?
Again, I am sorry to post the question here, since I could not potst in the development forum yet. Thanks a lot for your help!
Turn off driving mode in settings.

I had the same problem if you're talking about a sound notification of a new email, only mine was set to a loud and irritating siren noise.
You have to open up the email app and go to menu -> settings and there is a notification section where you can disable or change the tone.

Thanks for the reply. But I was talking talking about "sound" notice, which is fine and can be turn off. I was talking about the "voice" notification, which tells you (in a female voice) "one new email". I can't turn the lady off. Not sure where and how to get rid of it

Where is driving mode? I could not find it in settings......
Sorry this is my first Android device, and not very familiar with the settings yet......
Do these steps:
Settings
Voice input and output
Text to speech settings
Uncheck driving mode
That should take care of it!

Thanks! Got it!
The only bug I seem to have found with my new Galaxy S3 might just be a setting I cant find. Basically when ever you use pinch to open the edit screen (where is shows how many screens you have and which is the home screen) the phone says it out loud. Even when I have the audio muted it still talks and tells me what screen I just clicked on.
Is there somewhere to turn this off? VERY annoying.
Have you installed lightflow on your phone ? It was causing my phone to do this as well until I uninstalled it
Yeah that was it. Hope they fix that.

It's not directly related to using Lightflow, but rather to adding apps as accessibility services (which Light flowers unfortunately requires to work). That means it's an Android issue which will hopefully be fixed at some point.

Wow i just got this too - scared the hell out of me! Is this the ONLY quirk of Lightflow? If so, i can live with it i guess.
Ours the only annoying thing I've found so far. Happens as well if you turn accessibility on in tasker. So yeah, it's not as such lightflows fault. Only seems to affect me when opening and closing folders, and when going into hone screen edit, which I don't use anyway. I just avoid those things.
lightflow developer has raised the issue with google, and if you find where you can 'star' it which add you as sometime who wants it fixed. As yet google haven't fixed it.

Seems like a random bug: I use lightflow with accessibility setting turn on and never have this issue...
Hello all,
Its getting very annoying: everytime I pinch out on the homescreen to get to the homescreen selection section, a voice is saying some stuff I cant even understand, even in silent mode. Its getting me sick!
How can I disable it? Looked for it everywhere! Someone has a clue?
Thanks in advance.
Am I the only one with this problem? No one else?
I dont have any sounds when pinching on the homescreen.

Me either as far as I know your not meant to get any either?
Have you added an app as an accessibility service? Maybe Lightflow or Tasker? You can either remove those apps as accessibility services or you could use another launcher. This is a known bug which doesn't really have a perfect solution yet.

I had the same issue yesterday and i solved it
At first i thought it was driving mode(since that reads out things while you drive) then i checked accessibility settings and i disabled talk back(i think).....but that still didnt work.
Found out its lightflow....Has something to do with the app.I think you can disable it but i just removed the app completely and the voices stop
I'm still waiting for my s3 so can't check whether that does the trick or not but the developer of Missed It! said to check that both Talkback and Install Web Script (both in Accessibility settings) are set to off

I've had this problem too and I don't have Lightflow installed. For me, the solution was to go to Settings, Accessibility and under Services turn off 'Addons Detector' which I had installed.
So, perhaps it's anything installed in the Services section causes the problem. A bug perhaps?
Okay, so my s-voice won't do anything? I say "call mom home" it prints the words I front of me & does nothing? Same thing when I give it a math problem, launch an app, or anything at all? Do I need a replacement or am I doing something wrong? I actually use voice commands alot!
Ok go to settings, application manager, on the top click all find S-voice hit it the click clear data. Hit thanks if this helps!

Clearing data worked & factory reset has worked once alsw, but I don't know why it keeps happening?
Samsung really needs to get their act together with S-Voice. Their software development on this was rushed, and it shows. S-Voice often stops working and requires clearing the App data, and even when it works, the app's inability to understand variation in syntax makes it far more limited than Apple's Siri.
I also notice that when I do a Google search using S-Voice, the web search is done through a Samsung sponsored adsense account, so it's evident that S-Voice is mainly an attempt by Samsung to monetize their users' google searches rather than an earnest effort to improve user experience.
The Galaxy S3 is great phone overall, but I hope Samsung comes out with an S-Voice update that will do this phone justice. Meanwhile, I'd love to be able to replace the double-click home button with Google Search instead of S-Voice.
However, at least I can access vanilla Google search quickly with a long-hold on the capacitive menu button.
I haven't had a problem with it yet. It sometimes gets mixed up and doesn't know what I say.

Lol I was having problems with S-Voice on my International SGS III understanding my words until I changed it from "English UK" to "English US" very odd indeed...
I'm running SVoice on my SGS2 with no problems and it's not even for our phone.
I wonder why you guys are having issues with it?
Powered by the SGSII
only problem i've had is while driving it will pick up the road noise and not end the voice command entry automatically, also if there is too much road noise the app will not audibly alert as it stops if it hears any sound
While not too surprised by it, the performance while driving leaves S-Voice worthless to me. If my window is down, I pretty much can't use it.
Also, I tried using it to launch Waze... it prints the correct name, but then says it can't find the app. I have yet to get it to open a non-default app.

I agree 100%! I use voice commands a lot, and mostly in the car is when I use them. That's the only time you ever NEED hands free control over the phone, and yet it's almost worthless in the car! I have to roll up the windows, close the sunroof, and if the AC is on you can for get it, lol. I think I'm gonna try the original vlingo app I've always used, because I know they are behind svoices software, but it worked better when I downloaded it to replace the Samsung tinkered vlingo on my s2. It could possibly be that the mic on the gs3 is very sensitive though? None the less, every phone has some apps that I don't care for.
e.g. "Folder Open" and "Folder Closed"....
I've tried Sound, Language and Input, but I can't see anywhere else find a setting that may help.
I cant seem to get it to stop!!
Does anyone know how to disable this feature?
Thanks,
Paul
I think it's something in accessibility options in settings, I'm on aosp so can't tell you exactly as the menus are probably different
Go to Settings>Accessibility>TalkBack and turn it off.
Use thanks button if i helped you

Turn off TalkBack. But if that doesn't help than you probably have light flow installed which conflicts with talk back. If installed try uninstalling and check again.
Hope it helps
