The unlock button is at the top of the device, while the ring used to unlock it is at the bottom, which makes it tough to unlock the phone with one hand. Plus, my phone never unlocks itself in my pocket.
Is there a way to disable the sense lockscreen? I'd prefer avoiding a 3rd party solution like widget locker, but if that's the only way then so be it. Thanks.
i like the lock screen myself, but i totally agree with the sentiment. this "lightening of sense" crap sure feels like it became much more heavy-handed. its like all they did was take away option settings and remove customization options. boo sense 4

Is there a way to disable the sliding finger method to unlock? If i set the lock to none it just doesn't use either pin, patter, password or fingerprint, but the sliding finger always gets there.
on some other phones i have seen some apps but from what i have read they are not stable. When i hit the power button i want to go straight to the home screen.
Maybe there is an .apk i can freeze on titanium backup to make this work.
Have you tried NoLock from the market?
NoLock works well but I prefer Widgetsoid. It gives you a toggle for the slide lock, lets you add a button to any homescreen to lock the screen, as well as toggles for most other common activities, including ring, vibrate or silent.
i am testing nolock some people in other forums said they were having stability problems or that it stopped working. so far it works.
No lock 100%, and the widget works well (since I have security finger swipes) to toggle quickly on, or quickly off.
Not what you're looking for, but figured it's worth mentioning for anyone that might be interested: Widgetlocker gives the option to unlock using the back button. The slider seemed to generally work consistently, but the back button is a slight bit quicker and always works for me, which is why I like it. I personally like having a lock screen for just checking the time and such, though I can see why some people may not care to have the lock screen.
I recently rooted my TB and installed the latest CM7 ROM. The only thing that bugs me about the ROM is that when I unlock it after being idle for a few minutes, it always returns to the last app or email or whatever was open before it locked. I would like it to always return to the Home Screen, or Desktop each time it is unlocked. So far, I have not been able to find any setting to make this happen. I was hoping someone might be able to give me a hand with it.
Thanks,
Mark
you could always just download "No Lock" from the market & just use the power on/off button to turn the screen on/off. then you wouldn't have to bother with the lock screen at all. i use that no matter if i'm on sense or aosp. always hated the lockscreen b.s.
Go into cm settings, lockscreen, style options, custom starter app. Set that to be the launcher of your default. Adw is the current defaulted launcher unless you have installed another 3rd party.

You can disable the lockscreen in the cm tablet tweaks settings. No need for 3rd party app.
Thanks for the replies guys. I was hoping to keep the unlock screen appearance the same, without adding more options. I like things to look clean and minimal. However, if it's not possible, then I'll just have to deal with it the way it is.
Thanks,
Mark
Did you ever find a solution?
I too am used to returning to the home screen when I turn my phone on, not the last app I used. Seems like it would be a simple setting...

Not sure if this is impossible, easy, or even already accomplished, but coming from CM7 to MIUI there are two CM7 features that I am sorely missing:
1. Lockscreen gestures. I want to secure my device, but I've always hated that with Android you have to get past your "slide this there" lockscreen, THEN enter your pin or draw your pattern before you can get to the phone. With CM7, you can turn off the slides/rotaries/tabs/whatever that normally appear on the lockscreen (so it's just your lockscreen background, clock, and music controls) and set it to unlock when you draw whatever special invisible lockscreen gesture (which I also feel is more secure/less susceptible to onlookers than connecting dots on the Android pattern grid) you specified. This feature is great, and I think a lot of people misunderstand it!
If that isn't possible, does anyone know how you can at least turn off the conventional lockscreen if you have the pattern lock on? I really just hate the redundancy of the two-step unlock process.
2. (Screen off) long press volume-button track skipping. Simple as that. I need to be able to skip tracks without looking at my device (when running, driving, working out, whatever). Even lockscreen music controls don't cut it, because you have to click the screen on, look at it, poke the right button, relock the screen etc. When you're running, being able to long press on the volume up button to skip a track is HUGE.
I'm loving MIUI otherwise. Looking forward to Ace getting a handle on the wakelock, and sound/games/media issues.
As an aside, I do wish Xiamoi would release source code for people to comb through...it seems weird to me that a corporation--Chinese or otherwise--would sink untold dollars/development hours perfecting and making freely available a product that offers no clear monetization strategy. Furthermore, Huawei and Baidu's longstanding cooperation with Chinese Intelligence agencies makes me leery of Chinese corporate interest)
Gestures would be cool especially since on the default lock screen you have over half the screen of nothing.

Just wondering, if you accidentally hit reply, why "submit" the comment? You could have still avoided it.
Just found this flashable MIUI mod for the volume track skipping:
http://forums.miuiandroid.com/showthread.php?7356-MOD-Skip-track-via-volume-press
I haven't given it a shot yet, but if it works, it might be a good one to build into Ace's MIUI (like he inbuilt the extended settings mod).
Still keeping my eyes out for a lockscreen gesture mod.
currently using widgetlocker and it is great, but I would like to get more functionality out of my lock screen
Basically looking to cram more widgets/info in there & I've run out of space
Wondering if there is a way to have more than 1 page on the lockscreen and be able to swipe through them
Or something like double tapping a widget/the lock page and have it flip over to present more info on the other side (used to have something like this on iphone, Intelliscreen)
device info: Galaxy Nexus gsm yakju, unlocked bootloader and rooted
Thanks

There are other very valid lockscreen, such as Magic Locker, or SmartShift Lockscreen
Might be able to get it to work with smartshift, if I could make different profiles for the different types of widgets i want & then have a toggle or a way of activating the different profiles from the main lock screen, in theory seems like it could work
Is there really nothing out there that would allow more than 1 page on the lock screen with the customization of widget locker or the above mentioned apps?
I've been looking, & have seen other people requesting the same type of thing, but so far haven't been able to find a solution :-\
About two weeks ago, while playing with my phone, a thought occured to me -- why do I have a lockscreen? I then removed my lockscreen all together so that when I hit my power button I'm on my home screen. Lockscreens made sense back when they were keyguards and you had hard buttons and could easly, easily pocket dial someone. But other than me being brainwashed by my mobile OSes for years, I couldn't figure out a solid reason to actually use a lockscreen.
I've been going straight no lockscreen since my epiphany, and it's not been a problem at all. Before switching back to BSX, I just put DashClock as my homescreen widget and it provided the same convenience as me checking my lockscreen. And even now with BSX, I have unread counts in my launcher, so I'm still not missing any of the information I routinely kept on my lockscreen. I've not pocket dialed, or answered, anyone, and I've cut out what I completely unrealistically imagine would've accumulated to years of my life spent "sliding to unlock" my phone.
So... my question. Why do you use a lockscreen? Do you actually need it? Or do you, too, just use it because that's what you do. You have a lockscreen.
No, I use one for pattern lock.
Not sure why I'm using mine still, I haven't had a password in a while. Maybe I should put it back...
