How do I export contacts with pictures ? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys ... Well up till now I've had all my Desire Z contacts on the 'Phone' account, and now want to move them to Gmail, so that I can then completely disable the 'Phone' account, and start using the 'Google' account, so that my contacts remain syncronised between Gmail and my Desire Z ..
Now I've managed to export a vCard file from my phone and have imported the contacts into Gmail .. Everything's fine .. The only problem is that contact photos have not been ported over ..
So how can I export contacts from my phone WITH the pictures as well ?
Or, alternatively, can someone tell me where on my phone filesystem does Android store contact pictures ? I can then bring them to my PC, and manually add them to Gmail contacts quickly ..

I want ask too about this.
soo
BUMP!

contacts aren't syncing with google ?

so has anyone noticed that any new numbers entered in the tb is not syncing to you google contact list? i have all settings correct in the syncing settings.. set to google to synch contacts but yet theres no upward syncing going on at all. this worries me because i change androids so often i dont want to loose all my contacts here on on...
has anyone figured out this and how to fix the sync? i hope this is not a sense thing...
any info would be appreciated .. thanks
When I get new contacts I usually export my contacts on to my SD card and when I flash a new ROM i, import from my SD card. Ive noticed my new contacts dont upload to gmail as well.
When you input a contact into the phone, you have to select it as a "Gmail" contact instead of a "Phone" contact. Very easy to miss this option when you are putting a contact in. Once you have the contact in, I don't know of a way to change them to Gmail contacts other than doing some weird import/export thing.
Actually the phone doesnt allow you to pick where to save to.... still so way to get it to sync..

You can try this: Sync your contacts with FB and Google. Go to your contacts app. Make sure the display options are such that both FB & Google contacts are displayed. Merge possible duplicates. Once all of this is done. From the contacts menu, export the contacts to SD card.
Now you've the contacts backup file which contains numbers, emails plus the the display pictures. After flashing new ROM, just import from this file.

go to contacts on the atrix
menu, and find the import/export
export to sd card
take the .vcf that it creates, and import it in your new phone. dont know of any way to take it from one gmail account to another.
i have to ask WHY you want to do it this way though?
why are you using a different gmail account?
My Primary email is a roadrunner account, I did something stupid I included "Atrix" in my gmail name.

[Q] contact app for phone contacts? (non-google contacts?)

hi
Is there a way to create normal phone contacts that are not "google contacts" ?
It seems that in 4.2.2 you always have to have contacts linked to accounts, and therefore either create a google account or exchange email account...
And I also searched some time, but did not find a satisfying application that can backup contacts to excel and reinsert them... why always passing by google or sending it by email?
Is there maybe also an alternative contact application (compared to the standard android one)?
any help would be appreciated
Because syncing it with Google is the easier way including backup.
You can still save contacts on your phone or sim though and export to csv or whatever should be there no?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Go contacts can do this. Use local phone to store contacts only, export to csv format..
