If you mean "destroyed" as in you tried to open it and it was reported as damaged, then it probably is not "destroyed". The zip file is encrypted and tablet's system update function will open it without problem.

STOCK/original files from system partition

Ok, so let's see if there will be any use from this
I uploaded files from system partition, you can download each file that you need on it's own, no need for downloading entire folder.
You can also use search. If you are searching in advanced view, make sure you mark "Search my files"

Yup, as title says, stock, original, clean, untouched
If you guys have any idea, like, to zip/rar/7zip some files which (most of the times) goes together, so that people can download pack and extract it, rather than downloading file by file. PM me or write it here.
Of course those archive won't replace original files, they will just be added.
I also added fs and custom version, if someone want's to know. Same old ftf files which can be found here at forum
Very Useful u rock dude..!

Link for 4.1.A.0.562 ICS final added to first post.
Added link for 4.1.B.0.431 ICS CE3 system, and fixed some files in .562 system.
Seems like I can't find poll option, so will ask like this. Is there need to keep 4.1.C.0.7 ICS beta system partition online, or is it useless?
Does someone still use beta, or files from beta? Or to rephrase, are those files useful?
This question goes to guys who mess with rom's.

Sony Tablet S alternate method root path recovery [Only ICS] [For Test]

Experimentation and study
new procedures for Rooting
Sony and Sony Tablet Terminal Phone with ICS
Procedure # 1 →
a - download the file (all)
b - rename the file to update.zip 01 or 02 before inserting them in the root SDcard →
c - go into recovery mode (power + volume) and select System Update from SD CARD
d - select the pack just copied and renamed
and - recovery time from temporary select the pack 03 (does not need to be renamed)
f - if everything is ok now when you restart you'll have root
Code:
NB: two packs were included, because in theory if one does not work the other
I recommend that you first use the 01 because that's what should be "eaten" without problems.
In theory only side effects of this procedure should be the lack of flash pack.
Code:
DOWNLOAD PACK CLAIMS OF CONSCIENCE EVER TAKEN A TEST OF EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE AND POTENTIALLY HARMFUL.
WHAT DO YOU DO ONLY AND SOLELY AT YOUR OWN RISK!
The folder in mediafire is empty.
Yer there's nout in the folder.
attached files.
it will not work.
signature is not correct - even not the proper type - it has to be signed for whole-file.
what is the source of the files? you have created them?
what version of cwm recov is included? is it correct for S?
or some 'other-device' one?
I was getting excited then
This procedure for all devices sony and samsung. Samsung also works on the tablet now goes head to head Sony Tablet if someone tells me where to go or not. Could go. It does not install the CWM but does only the Root
Has anyone tested this yet?
anybody successed?

Why post useless threads, not even chcked personally???
This forum is going down...
If not Condi we would be in all nowhere...
Before you post sth, CHECK if it works. What if it was dangerous and bricks the device???
Have you considered this?
Next time: think about the possible consequences, not post something you don't even know how/if it works, please.

Always.
Yes, the idea is what counts.
Since when has it been the standard to post un-checked un-verified and non working files here?
Dangerous is what it is. Lucky this is a sony with barely any user base, if this was posted on the galaxy forums there would be hundreds of possibly messed up phones out there...
I have a sony Tablet S but I can not test this procedure because they are not home. I'm off to work and I will have to stay for a few months so if anyone of good will could test this method and send the results would be happy. @ Condi if the compilation and wrong could you fill it in right way so as to have the root?

Could you post the way it's supposed to do this? I'd like to learn how but i'm, as you can imagine, a newbie at this.
Update: i've found a temporary Workaround:
First of all notice that i needed the ad-hoc connection to use my tab in junction to my android phone when i'm on the move.
Said that I've found the way to share the phone connection via bluetooth: Obviously isn't fast as a proper wifi, but until someone (daveba ?) will patch the wpa_supplicant, this is the only solution.
On my phone i've downloaded from the play store Foxfi. There I have activated the bluetooth dun connection.
On tablet side i've downloaded from the play store pdanet tablet & configured to pair with my phone.
And ... TAADAA!!! i had back my connection on the move.
I repeat, it's not a proper solution, but until someone more coding skilled than me get the patch done, this will work.

You need to download the AOSP sources for ICS and set up a compile environment and then patch up the wpa_supplicant sources as per my previous post and then recompile and provide a CWM flashable zip.

Have you ever thought about writing an how-to guide related to this stuff?? i think could be very interesting. i think could be a sticky topic here in xda. A lot of people writing about wpa_supplicant but most of them posted only already patched files but never the entire process to do it.

I'll try to download it and extract the wpa supplicant. Maybe this time i'll be luckyer. And obviously, if this will work i'll share here.
Cross your fingers, please.
SAD UPDATE: I tried to use the wpa_supplicant e wpa_conf files on task650's ics rom but unfortunately the tablet has working wifi but doesn't recognize my wifi tethering from the phone. So for who as me don't want to use non stock rom (mostly for stability reason at the moment) can't have wifi thetering recognized.
I'm starting to suppose that on ics things are quite different from honeycomb on this topic. Maybe Someone whit good coding skill should try to help us.
And at the moment my workaround it's the only solution avaiable.
Thank you very much Chinasky71

You can still use your phone!
Nokia phones have dun connection via bluetooth, so pair your phone with your galaxy tab and start pdanet.
From there use the configure button, and select your phone after that is appered in your list.
At that point you'd be ready to go!
Let me know if it works.

There is a UK version for SGP312 in development section, but I'm not flashing that either. You lose your TV providers for built-in remote control app, and some other US specific apps and settings. There are millions of people with this tablet in US - I'm amazed that no one wants to help. Very much unlike XDA.

It's because most of the people don't bother modifying tablets unless they're Asus or Sammy tablets. Sony tablets and phones really aren't that popular, in the US, yet in the modding community cause they had crap products for years and now that their products are good and they're offering the best support out of any of the other OEMs.

Yes, 4shared is not really recommended precisely because of the registration requirement. It's much preferred if you use one without such a requirement, like mega, Google Drive or dev-host

Thanks for the information. I have never used dev-host, so I will investigate and if possible, upload the file there.
Edit: I joined Dev-Host and donated $25.00. Big mistake! Worst web site interface ever! And slow! After four failed attempts, I am now trying to upload the file a fifth time.
2nd Edit: Finally got the file uploaded to Dev-Host. Took 3.5 hours. Unbelievable!
It still requires registration, in order to download. I'm not going to register with my real email on a public web share like that, just to download a file. If someone could upload the firmware to a host with no restrictions - would be very much appreciated
@Cat McGowan: can you post a MD5 for the file, to make sure it didnt get corrupted during upload? Thx

I lost root after flashing the update. Still investigating...
UPDATE: After flashing LK bootloader TWRP 2.6 started to work and it's so smart it recognized I don't have root and offered to install SuperSU and root the device without me even doing anything. I lose root access every time I re-install the firmware (done several times using Sony Mobile's Update Service), but I expect to lose root access because Sony Mobile's Update Service does a "clean install". Losing root is no problem for me because I can quickly and easily regain root access using DooMLoRD's XTZ Easy Rooting Toolkit.

I appreciate the update and details of your actions taken. I am going to avoid doing anything beyond gaining root access until Sony releases their official version of Android 4.2 or better.
DooMLoRD's XTZ Easy Rooting Toolkit didn't work for me on this .370 update, but since it's possible to flash custom recovery like TWRP - that's no biggie. TWRP handled gaining root access very nicely. I highly recommend LK bootloader, now that I've played with it for a while. Right now it's the only way to run TWRP 2.6, which is awesome.
