hi in was thinking about installing cm9 but it looks complicated with linux etc. is there a place ai can go to see the difference between cm9 and cm7 and why its so much better? also im sure that i saw a video of a girl showing off the rom she made for the nook tablet but i cant find individual roms in the development section. do i just need glasses?
Rom
There are also a few experimental roms out, but I won't be adding them to that thread until they are stable. You can find their threads in development though (grab a pair of glasses) if you want to try them.
I've commented on the pros and cons of cm7 and cm9 a few times. Search around and you'll see.

In CM9? You can go to Settings > Accessibility and toggle Large Text to make menu text bigger. That might help a bit.

Hi,
There is a package in Spike's thread for v5.0 for the battery percentage. My question is, can that be installed on v6.1?

v6 is a different base. So maybe wait for him to come out with one for v6 first. Should be any day now.

Thanks for the answer...
btw i have a little more questions...
after using v6.1... i realise that i am no longer able to take screenshots on my sgs2. the home + power button does not seem to work. is there a different way on this rom to take screenshots? or need another app?
also is there a way to remove homescreens? by default it has 5 screens, can i disable one or more of it?
last question, how do i configure to set the USB connect on default as usb storage instead of media server?
UPDATE: seems like the battery percentage for 6.1 is released: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22790151&postcount=492

I really missed the days i can take a screenshot just with home + power buttons .Now i'm using a app to take screedshots(do a search in the market then you'll find many). Hope the CM9 team intergrate Screenshots in their work.
Are you using Trebuchet launcher ? If so you'll find the homescreed settings in Trebucher settings(press menu key in homescreen and select Trebucher settings) .
The media server is annoying to me too but now i'm trying to get used to it.Maybe you can try this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389375

thanks to your reply i now know about trebuchet. now that helps me to reduce those unused homescreens. but some of the options does not work such as Dock and Icons. Ill have to start googling about this anyways...
but yeah i hope spike will add the screenshot. i dont want an app for that. better to intergrate it with the rom i think.
SPIKE, if you see this, i sincerely thank you for this awesome ROM. you have done great. I am loving every bit of it. thank you!
Guys,
I was reading the development thread, and now there is a 6.1 version. Somebody said that he updated from ROM 2.3.6 to Pure ICS 6.0...
I would like to be sure if this can really be done without having to install stock ROM first or something like that. I have stock ROM 2.3.5 with root, and I would like to know whether I can go straight to flashing Pure ICS 6.1 with Odin or not.
I am asking cause I have seen many different comments on approaches people have followed, and I want to know whether I can do this first or not.
Thanks!
The trebuchet is far from complete and still under development(pretty stable for a alpha release ,though). You can have a try at Nova launcher and see if it fits you.

I suggest you flash a sammy leak ICS ROM first , it won't take you so much time.

There should not be any issues. I flashed straight to 6.1 from a stock official release of 2.3.6. worked fine for me. did not have issues. just make sure to follow the steps provided carefully.

update: if yes, then below link probably will be helpful?
http://androidadvices.com/update-samsung-galaxy-gt-i9100-xxlph-android-403-firmware/2/
I just flashed Pure Special Edition straight from one of the KI or KJs, everything works ok (Great rom btw) but I noticed the colors are slightly off. Almost like overexposure?
The color looks slightly faded and runny in and is quite obvious in videos and games. Wonder what's the issue here? should I reflash?
Cheers
Check Display - Screen Mode to see what it is set as. It is in Settings. You can make or more punchy there.

Screen Mode was set to Standard, and setting it to anything else make it look worse... However, the screen did look slightly better once I turned off auto brightness and adjusted it manually. Totally forgot that ICS had a problem with this!
However, I noticed that stuff like font edges isn't as sharp as when I was running stock. I guess I'll flash stock ICS tonight to check what the problem is...
pure ics 5.0 vs 7.1 battery life.
Hello. Why is my battery life 100% better with Pure ICS v. 5.0 than 7.1? is there a way to make 7.1 as great (im my opinion) in terms of battery life as 5.0? of course 7.1 is fully functional and I would like to keep it.
Thanks.
Transparent lockscreen
Hi all,
Does anyone know if spike is planning to get rid of the samsung lockscreen?
It would be so much nicer to have the stock transparent lockscreen as on the galaxy nexus.
Hopefully it will come round with 7.3.
For those who want to install AOSP Calendar in Spike 7.2, maybe can try flash AOSP Package for Pure ICS v7.0
ICS call screen
I wanted to know if there are plans to incorporate the in call screen from ICS into this ROM? I switched from CM9 to Pure ICS and so far it's the only thing about CM9 that I prefer.
You can ignore my above post, apparently this is a future theme change. Looking forward to when it actually gets implemented.
I am trying to use the attached picture as my background on my lock screen. When I select it under the settings it keeps trying to have me crop it. The picture is not that big and the cropping will not let me select the whole picture. Is there anyway around this or how can I edit the picture so I do not have this problem?
i think it has to do with the physical aspects of the picture. Because its square rather than rectangular, it may always want to crop it even though it could fit.
I suggest you use a paint shop program on your computer to make a rectangular black backround and then attach this image to that. Finally save the new image with the background as it is, and then try cropping that.
If you dont know how to do that, send me the picture as an attachment or somehow to download it and i will try it for you.
I have answered this before so I'll answer again. First, take a screenshot of that picture then go to where it was saved and use the screenshot picture as your background. It will be fullscreen with no cropping.
true! didnt think of that! that is much faster!

Hi,
One of my colleagues has purchased a new S III and the only thing he's not happy about it is the white text over black background on certain screens (specially the Email app)
Is there a quick and easy way of having black text over white background on email app (and others) ?
thx.
No, you need to either download an alternative application, or root your phone and install an inverted version :/
I don't mean to patronize or anything , but someone with 10+ thanks should be able to go figure this one out by himself / herself ..
There is a whole sub-forum of themes
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1567
If there are any other-way without theme-ing you ask ? ... well yes, you can do that too ! =) use 10 mins of your own time and you will almost certainly!! figure it out

Have him use mail.google.com in desktop mode ... dowhatever you\he wants is 1 option ... inverted colors with intelligent app launch on gmail app ?
I prefer the black backgrounds and white text actually. Easier on the eyes AND the battery.

thank you. I have lots of experience with Android platforms but I really never wanted to change any theme of any of my devices.
This is just a colleague's request and I found it easier to ask ratherthan try to invent wheel from scratch.
what do you mean by inverted colors with intelligent app launch ?
hi,
I'm searching but no results;
what is inverted colors with intelligent app launch ?
Hi there,
Is it possible to have the galaxy SII or note contacts and phone apk ported to xperia mini pro sk17i?Because I really want the Swipe to call and message feature.
Also does anyone know any app like this which allows smooth swipe gestures?
Thanks in advance.
AndroidReborn
Come on guys!So many views yet no reply?
Does anyone at least know any app that allows you to swipe to call?
other than rocketdial?
try this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modoohut.dialer

and this https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5qYmFwcHMuY29udGFjdHBybyJd
I have already tried both of them. One does not have this feature and the other does have, but quite plain......
Rocketdial has just what I want, but it it not smooth.
Any other recommendations?
it is a feature from touchwiz from samsung ..
maybe u can try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1670723, just make sure you've backed up your phone first, good luck
Hi guys, new to the forum and fairly new to android, I've got a galaxy s3 international version locked to the three network in the UK, I've been considering using a custom ROM but wanted to know your opinions?
Criteria for me are simple, I like the look of stock android so I want that or something similar, but I like the functionality of TouchWiz so would like to retain that if possible. The only other thing is the quick settings/toggles on the notification bar in TouchWiz, this is something I now cannot live without so it needs to have that or something similar (tbh i just like the auto rotate, wifi and brightness toggles).
Thanks in advance guys, look forward to your answers.
Chris.

the best thing to do is to try different ROMs for yourself. Everyone has their own preference and no 2 rom set ups are exactly the same.
Yup Welcome to the forums! And congratulations on getting the Samsung Galaxy SIII - It definitely is one of the best android phones out there - The best thing about it is that Flashing this phone is not as complicated as maybe some other android handsets out there - But yea - you can check out all sorts of custom Roms in the development sections and you can always flash different ones and then keep the one you like as mputtr said -
Seems like your interested in a samsung based rom and there are plenty of those available in the development section - All of them have their own strengths and you can always read through the descriptions of each before flashing them to know what your getting - Best of all if you have any more questions about the roms you can always ask! Enjoy!
thanks for the advice, sorry about the duplicate post just wasn't sure which section was most relevant, wont happen again.
thanks again, Chris.
To maintain the same functionality your best bet is a samsung based rom. If you like the look though you you wont get the *touchwiz* functionality because thats a launcher and its difficult to modify the look without changing to a custom launcher. But I guess it depends how you mean functionality of touchwiz

Also... in terms of toggles. Most custom roms have custom toggles so generally speaking look for the *15 toggles * feature...where you have the ability to choose which toggles to you like and which order in youe notifications menu
