Hello fellow XDA-ers
I was looking around on the internet, and I found this:

Pantech's SMP-301 "SKY the Player"
A relatively unknown PMP, that never made it past Korea, made by Pantech. Based on that site, the player comes with 32 GB Internal Memory, a 3.7" 480x800 AMOLED display, and from small research, I hear it's capable of 1080p video playback without conversion.
There's one thing which I feel is a let down to this device though, and it's got Android 2.1 Eclair on it, and I have tried to look for developments for this device and found none.
My question is this, do any of you know of android developments for this device, if not, based on experience and perhaps knowledge, how difficult would it be to port a Gingerbread, if not ICS Build on the device? I'm thinking a good starting point would be to work from other developments on Pantech devices already.
Thoughts guys? :O

I know this is not a HD2 question, but I am desperate for some guidance and answers. I am about to get my hands on a new Mi700 DroidPad, a budget Android Tablet, with Android 2.2. I wrote a review which was picked up at Engadget http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/30/c...wfully-famili/. The software as I can perceive it so far is problematic (slightly buggy). Since this is a new device (and I have checked for any development efforts from the Net and found none so far), I was wondering what I should do in order to:
1) Root the device
2) Dump the ROM
In regards to rooting the device, I was thinking since it shares the same CPU as the Aria and Legend (MSM7227), can I just use the one-click root method? I will try that, but would like to know alternatives if that fails.
On dumping the ROM, well... I have no idea what can be done, but would love to try doing it, so that Flash can run on it. At the moment, though it is on 2.2, Flash does not appear in the Market.
Anyway, thanks a lot guys. If anyone can help clarify the matter or point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. Btw, I'm trying to arrange with CSL to give developers some discount on purchasing this device which is equal in functionality with Samsung's Tab, without the crazy pricing.
Thanks!
I was attracted to this tablet as a replacement for a recently sold off Nook Color as it was a 10'' device but running 2.x rather than 3.x. I enjoy HC on my SGT 10.1 but I missed the feel of 2.x as well as certain apps not supporting 3.x and at any rate needed a machine with ports and expandable memory for storing reading material.
To that end I know that the GTab has the same resolution of 1024x600 as the Nook Color and I was wondering if apps scaled the same way (full screen on NC but not too pretty sometimes)?
An example would be Age of Zombies.
TL;DR version:
How well do apps tend to fit the screen?
Thank you in advance for any help on this matter and if this question has already been resolved I would greatly appreciate a link or keywords for searching.
here's hte easiest way to respond to your question. Age of Zomibes running on Calk/Clem Gtablet:

Thank you very much for the quick and detailed response. I think I will be going for the GTab now.
Hello, I developed the program to replace Pad Music Player for music players built into Android systems because I was tired of not being able to have a decent playlist with just the songs I wanted.
The program was created for the Tablet because the space is much broader and you can add video directly to a lot of functionality.
It may someday be ported to smartphone by changing the layout of the various components even if trying it on my Nexus, and there are all the features are great, there is only a few problems graph.
If you want you can go try it on my site:
www.simosoftprojects.com
or you can download it from the Market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=simosoftprojects.musicplayerforpad
Let me know if you like and if you have any problems.
We placed a few pictures.

Bye bye!!!
Thanks for this app!
It's really good looking and makes great uses of the tablet screen size ..
And it's free!..

Wow it great man!! Just what I was looking for!!, meabe after you can add a equilizer like power amp, the default equalizer of android is not cool -5 bands-
The thing has good specs, good audio... and squandered potential. Only being a slave to a Android device?
This would have been a *****in' GTV device. As Google TV is in rough shape, even getting a full Android ROM would be good. Here's to hoping it can be easily hacked.
Seeing as it is a Nexus device, I would surely hope that it has some level of hack-ability and modding. They even said that they encourage modding of the Nexus Q when they announced it at I/O. I'm excited to see where it goes!
Because they know that if someone come qith a good hack making it available to play games, run full OS or something like that people like will start buying it
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
It would be great if the GTV system could be ported over to the Q. I like the idea of the Q but a custom Rom would get me off the fence and grab my card to order.
Live and Die on this day....
There's already a thread for speculating on possible uses for the Q, please continue all further discussion there.

Hi,
I have a dead pixel Dell streak 5. I though about decreasing the screen size from 5inch to something like 4inch or 3.5 inch. Is it possible?
So I will use the phone only with live pixels. See the attach. please help if there is any app for that which supports ICS (2.3 or 2.2)

You have a bit more than a dead pixel there.
While it's an intriguing concept, what you want to do cannot be done. You would need to rewrite every single driver related to the screen, and quite honestly that's an awful lot of work for little gain. That's assuming of course that such a thing is even possible.
Sell the device for parts, if you can't find a replacement screen at a decent price.
I thought about using an app like a multi screen apk. floating browser etc etc. but since it is 2.3, It doesnt support such apps. Do you have any suggestiong about it? any Mods?
I already gave my suggestion in my prior post. No mod in the universe will help with a hardware problem.
