[Q] File Synchronization - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Now that s3 does not have Mass Storage option, what is the best way to Synchronize Files in a folder on DESKTOP with S3 storage and SD card!
it is always possible to remove the SD card and put in an adapter but things would be easier with Mass Storage and wouldnt be practical to always remove the SD ..
File Sync. solutions like Vice Versa cant read MTP folder....
Thanks....

[Q] Duplicate folders on external SD card. How to get rid of them?

When i connect USB cable to my SGS3 to access content of external SD card I see multiple duplicates of folders on the root of the card. There are 3-5 instances of all folders on root of the card with exactly the same names. Some folders are empty, some of them have files without extensions, some of them seem to be real folders with real content in them.
I have tried to checkdisk with error fixing on my PC for this card in a card reader. It didn't help. The folders, when card is used in a card reader are OK, they aren't having any duplicates. I have tried to format SD card for a few times already and then transfer my data from PC to card again, it didn't help and was getting worse after each such try as the number of folder duplicates was just increasing then.
ES File Explorer isn't showing any duplicates.
This thing is really annoying and makes me mad.
Please suggest me any cure for that. Thanks in advance
MTP mode is heavily flawed, hopefully an update fixes it.
If you're rooted you can use Easy UMS Apk (see General section) to mount the external Sd in Mass storage mode on your computer

Best way to Manage MTP Storage? Need Advice

Those who are better advanced using MTP please advice...
Issue I am coming from a VZW Thunderbolt my old SD card is in the S3. It still seems to pickup ringtones, videos, pictures from the ext. sdcard. As we know we cannot see the ext card or save to the external card. So I am a bit lost how to manage myself since the S3 pulls in some files from the ext sdcard but I cannot save or see that card using the S3.... Do I still add certain files to the MTP space and drop using the ext. sdcard or try to figure out what the MTP can see and manage both storage areas?
How do you handle data that is on the ext. sdcard with the built-in storage MTP?
If I go all MTP...is there a way to back that up to say the ext. sdcard via from the S3?
When I do a Clockworks backup I assume that goes to the MTP space?
Thx fam any input is helpful...
I don't like using MTP because it always seems unreliable when copying multiple files. I prefer to install SwiFTP on the phone and run that as an FTP site while connecting to it from Filezilla on my computer. Then you can transfer files wirelessly via FTP. I find it to be more reliable when copying lots of files.

Phone is confused between USB storage and my SD card

I just upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, after using my old Xperia for 2 years. I love the phone apart from one really annoying problem and that's the phone seems to be confused between its USB Storage and SD card.
The USB storage is 1.10 GB and seems to be the default partition for large app data that you have to download like maps for gps and game files for hd games, so it runs out very quickly.
It is located at /sdcard
I have a 32GB SD card, where I ideally want this application data to live so I can have more apps.
It is located at /sdcard/external_sd.
I tried editing vold.fstab to swap internal/external sds to no avail and had to restore the original.
Task Manager > Storage is showing my storage information correctly but apps such as App to SD are treating my USB storage like my SD card. When these apps download their additional data it goes to my USB storage. In the applications menu "On SD Card" displays apps on my USB storage.
I'm looking for either:
A way to move the apps and appdata from USB storage to my SD card. I know this can be done in a file manger but then the apps wont be able to find their data.
A way for these apps to save additional data to my SD Card NOT my USB storage.
A way to get the phone to realise my USB storage is NOT my SD Card.
A way to completely disable USB storage and use my SD card as its primary storage function.
A working vold.fstab modification for the Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-i8160
Many thanks
I'm actually trying to find a way to get my games to install their data on my external SD card. The USB storage is actually an internal SD card inside your phone so its not actually getting confused. The only way for apps to save their data to your external SD card is for the developer to make it an option in the ROM. There's a mod for Gameloft games that allows it to install its data onto your external SD card if that helps. Just Google it.

[Q] How to move an app to usb mass storage (internal SD)

Hey guys ,
For a while now I've been trying to understand this.I use Samsung Galaxy S2 with Ice Scream Sandwich 4.0.3. WITHOUT EXTERNAL SD CARD ,rooted with SuperSu,oh and I rooted my phone specifically to be able to move apps to internal mass storage.
Firstly, before I tried rooting my phone,I tried moving my apps to internal mass storage via the basic application manager in settings, but it only showed the "move to SD" option.
Then I rooted my phone and downloaded x-plore.With x-plore ( file manager app with root browsing ) I found out that there were two parts of any app on the internal memory.First part ( located in /root/data/app ) contains .apk of an app which is oftenly same size as the installation of an app.Second part ( located in /root/data/user/data/data ) and it contains ".com.android." files of an app, which I believe are downloaded folders by that app.So for an example ,if I have Angry Birds installed, angrybirds.apk will be available in /root/data/app and ".com.android.rovio.angrybirds" will be available in /root/data/user/data/data.Since I couldn't find ANY app that is specifically made to move app to INTERNAL mass storage,I tried moving these two parts of an app (.apk and ".com.android..") to internal mass storage ( named as "sd" on x-plore ).But,as expected the app I moved tho the mass storage was "installed on sd card" as android would specify when I'd try to run it.Note:I moved it to a random directory on internal mass storage. When I moved the files back to their original paths, since they wouldn't work on mass storage, they worked properly again.
So I just want to ask you is there any way I cound kind of mount those two parts I mentioned of an app as one,so Android would recognize it as a whole app when I move those files on internal mass storage.Or is there some other way to move them to mass storage?Or to make apps automatically install on internal mass storage?
Any help would be really appreciated because I really don't want to buy a SD card since I've read multiple articles that apps don't run best from SD cards.Once again,I repeat , I wan't to move them to INTERNAL mass storage which is around 11.50 GB of space, because my internal(system) memory is like 1/1,97 GB used.
Thanks
..
Anyone?
