In the personalize menu where you can choose different sound sets, I changed some of them in the default HTC Sense set. I don't see any way to revert back to the originals.
Could someone that hasn't changed them please post the default values for the set?
For example:
Ringtone: Sense
Alarm: Pendulum
Notification:
Message:
Email:
Calendar: Daybook
Task:
I think the three above are the defaults, but I can't remember the others. Thanks so much!
Or if someone can tell me how to reset it to the default without resetting the phone, that would work, it should only take a second for someone to check the tones and fill in the blanks. Thanks XDA.
Last reply, can someone please give me the values.
Just go to Settings -> Personalize -> Sound Tab -> Sound Set -> HTC Sense and let me know the values please? Or if you know how to take a screen shot, send me that.
I'm looking for the default values for the Notification, Message, Email, etc that is blank in the op (or all of them if any listed are wrong).
Thanks again.
Took me a while to find the Sound Set - didn't notice the Sound tab at the bottom of the screen.
Here is what I have:
Notification: - I had changed this so I don't know this one - sorry
Message: Content
Email: Hint
Task: Notice

Is this what you're looking for?
How do you change the Email one? I can't figure this out. I hold on it but it doesn't do anything. Same for Tasks and Message. Would like to change these sounds to others but can't figure it out.

I just click on that Email line, don't hold it.
Knew it was somewhere. Thanks!

I hold, click, swipe, everything but cannot change the value. I created my own sound set and cannot change those either.

quite disappointingly windows phone doesnt want to let you change sms...recently flashed Chukys rom and the dev had the sms tone changed...
was wondering was there an app/way to change sms ringtone without much bother?
Thanks
i am not sure if this is what you're looking for, but if you want to change SMS ringtone in HD2, go to settings -> Sound & Display -> Notification Sounds -> New Message and there you go. Hope this helps.
You could always navigate to Notification Settings to change your sms ringtone.
If you want a custom ringtone, place the mp3 file in 'My Ringtones' folder in your DEVICE memory, and you can select it from the same settings as above.
You can also put them in My Device/Application Data/Sounds. When you go to Sounds & Notifications they will be in the drop down menu along with the other hundred sounds I routinely delete with every ROM flash, lol.

I am trying to assign a new "mail" sound to a soundset but It only gives you an option to listen to it along with other notifications. Does anyone know how to edit that?
Use root explorer and drop the new files you would like to use in the appropriate folder in /system/media/audio
I wonder why I can change the ringtone and notification but not email sound? The thunderbolt is like an iPhone it doesnt allow you to change the email sound
What email app are you using? You should be able to open setting inside the app and then change it from there... as in for gmail, open gmail, menu, more, settings, select ringtone. if you copied the ringtone you want in the folder i posted above it should show up in there now.
Stock email app syncing with exchange. When I click on menu, settings, notification settings I only get checkmarks for "email notifications" Notification sounds" and Notification Vibrate"
There is no option to choose a sound.
Tried to do this last night and it took me a while. I kept looking under the email settings and Sound but couldn't find it. You have to go through Personalize:
Settings--->Personalize---> Notification Sound
From there you can change Message, Calendar and Email.
I don't use that one but i believe that it using the default notification sound. Place your file in /system/media/audio/notifications and then reboot your phone. Go into settings, notifications and you should see the new tones listed.

Ha. I had set it up when I first got the phone. I added some CM7 notifications last night and for the life of me couldn't figure out how to set them again. I kept looking in email settings and Setting->Sound thinking I was crazy.

I use K9 Mail and it lets me change the sound to what ever you want.
Hi,
I'm on ROM Batista 3.5 with a very strange and annoying problem: the menu option to change the ringtone for my Gmail accounts is missing. On my HTC Desire I simply go to Gmail-Menu-More-Settings-Notification settings- Select ringtone.
On my Galaxy S2 this menu option is completely missing. I can go to Gmail-Menu-More-Settings-(pick an account)-Notification settings, but the select ringtone and all the other E-mail notification options are just not there. I'm pretty sure I had the exact same problem on ROM Litening v5.0. Google/XDA search seems to suggest I'm the only one so far facing this problem.
The E-mail notification is now set as the sms ringtone and its' driving me nuts. Does anyone know how I can change or at least kill the E-mail ringtone (and reactivate the relevant menu options in the settings menu)? Am I totally daft and missing the menu option or is something more serious going on in my ROM?
Solved!
Apparently you have to click through to "labels to notify" to get to the settings. No idea which Korean engineer came up with that one, but at least it's solved...
I don't have that ROM or that problem, but thanks for posting the solution. No doubt someone else will have the same problem.
This problem only occurs from Gmail 2.3.5 onwards, because they changed the location of the settings.
I can not find this setting anywhere either. Been hunting for 30 minutes now.
I went to labels but I don't see anything there either. Where the heck did they hide these settings?
EDIT:
Menu -> More -> Settings
Under the account settings heading, tap your email account name.
Scroll to the bottom.
Tap Labels to notify.

Thanks for this...I to was gong nuts trying to find it after flashing 2.3.5 rom!
Clicking in a contact will show the contact complete profile. There´s a way to set to call the default number?
hold your finger on the number u want to be default and a menu will appear with "set as default" on it.
I already done that. My favorites haven default numbers set. In list view mode I can directly call then, but this didnt work in grid view mode.
My question is regarding the option to enable this click-and-call feature on grid view mode. Today when I click in the contact photo I´m redirected to contact page.
I was wondering about this also, my last phone did it by default and its driving me crazy that it doesn't. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I've noted in the Mate 10, but it's likely to be an Oreo thing, I can't seem to set a custom tone for new mail notification. In the Mate 9, it was under settings, my email address and inbox, sound and vibrate. That option is in Gmail under Oreo on the Mate 10 but the option to set a custom tone is missing...am I missing something?
No-one? Can anyone confirm what I'm seeing??
OK so I guess no-one uses Gmail?
Its changed in Oreo. Now there's a section in settings, after you click your email address called "Manage notifications". Tap on this. Then, under the section saying "Email Normal Allow these notifications to make sounds", which should be 'on', tap on this. You can set the sound in the next section.
Jeez. Not one guide on interwebs saying how to do this!
I use Gmail and cannot separate the tones from texting and gmail. I do not have the section saying "Email Normal Allow these notifications to make sounds". Anyone have a solution?
Dump the G-mail app (disable & clear data under "Apps") and install K-9 Mail. Everything's configurable (and I do mean everything!), works brilliantly, is lighter in weight than the G-mail app, and is completely free.
Here is how it is done...in the Oreo world...
Open Gmail > top left hamburger > settings > General settings > Manage notifications > Long press on the word "Mail" not the toggle itself but right on the word, and another secret, hidden, stupid, settings menu will open and it's in here where you can choose a separate tone for email as well as turn on the notification light for Gmail.
Thank you. Your solution worked well with my Huawei Mate 10 Pro in Gmail and Messanger
Couldnt find any solution to change the notification sound for twitter. Any help is welcome. I followed the same steps as mentioned above.

Sorry, don't get it. Can you make a screen dump of the location where to long press.
I need the option to select sound while editing the labels

It is exactly as I stated in my original directions...it could not be any clearer.
Once you tap on "Manage notifications" it will take you to the screen "App notifications" then you long press directly on the word MAIL which is directly under your email address.
You can also long press on the other "words" listed there for different notification settings. The words are to the left of the screen...the toggles are to the right.
Also, if you're looking to be able to set a different tone based on a label you created...I don't think that is possible.
FWIW, it Doesn't have to be a log press. just touch the mail part.
Mine says "Email" but great, it worked.

Thank you so much! I've had my Huawei P10 for almost a year and couldn't find where to add custom notification to Gmail. It's so frustrating when they do stupid ish like this because pretty much every other explanation says go to manage notification but not detailed enough to say click on title. I had the Huawei P6 and was impressed with Huawei enough to make it my go to brand but this ish frustrated me enough to consider another brand.
Well it just changes the default notification sound for me.
