i777 stuck on bootscreen - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I've read Heimdall's guide and have tried reflashing in Odin. I can not get into recovery but I can get into download. I tired reflashing to "The kernel + rooted UCKH7 system package" with no luck. Only the triangle and ! mark are gone now. What should I flash to in order to get the phone working again?

the part in red needs clarification. Did it flash, successfully?
The "!" that you see is one of two:
Forced download mode, which is just a black screen with that symbol
Or a smaller one of those symbols at boot image, that happens before the boot animation. caused by increasing the flash counter. just cosmetic, and easy to remove with an app from the market.

Meaning after I reflashed, it still is stuck on the repeating bootscreen loop. It was successful but still did not solve the still being stuck on the bootscreen issue.

So still no recovery?
Something probably got borked when you flashed. try a different kernal, dont worry about the ROM, flash kernal, boot into CWM recovery. flash ROM of that you want.

Ok thanks. How / where do I flash kernal?

And how do I boot into recovery if I can only get into download mode and the phone wont officially start?

Kernals are in the dev section. there are 2 different types. depends on what you want to flash. read up.
Flashing can be done through heimdall/Odin or CWM recovery(when you get it). there are 2 different types for this as well.

yea no flashing in recovery, if its not there. flash with heimdall....or Odin(if you must)
Sorry man, but are you trying recovery correctly?
both volume keys held down, then hold power button. hold through first screen, will come back a 2nd time, after a second of the 2nd screen i let go of power, then a second later I let go of vol keys.
This is just the easiest way i've found to do it.

Also make sure your phone isnt plugged in to your computer when trying to access CWM Recovery menu.

The latest OTA frustrated me so I decided I needed to root my i777.
I had a very similar and scary prob. I rooted my phone with no problem using the GalaxyS2root.com page. I have an i777. Booting the phone does now says 1900 and have the yellow triangle with exclamation mark but no big deal. Phone is running i777 firmware fine.
Problem occurred when I attempted to flash a new ROM. I flashed an AOKP JB ROM using CWR. When the phone booted it got stuck. I could see the new 1900 boot screen but then it would flicker and go black sometimes looping back to the 1900 screen. If my usb cord was plugged in, I could get to Download mode (vol up, vol down, and power for about 10 seconds), but no further.
I read several forum posts with no definitive answers. I originally rooted my phone with a Mac, but decided to attempt to unroot/reroot with a PC. Then I got to thinking maybe I could flash a different kernel. In hindsight, I wasn't as careful as I should have been in my approach to flashing Kernels, but I had the right idea apparently. I flashed TASK650 3.0.38-i777 specific kernel and bam, got the phone to go to Recovery!
I really hope this helps someone. I'm so appreciative for the pieces of advice here and in so many other forums. XDA has always been a source of great information (I remember rooting my original HTC Incredible 3 years ago...so nervous).

## Edit: Geez I'm a noob...
I just wasn't holding down the recovery key combination long enough on boot. After a few cycles it booted into CWM Recovery. The phone itself doesn't boot, but that's not a big deal because I'm going to put CM on it anyway.
## End Edit
My problem sounds very similar to the OP and the problem quoted above. I was following the i777 instructions on the Cyanogenmod wiki (can't post links yet... wiki.cyanogenmod [dot] org/index.php?title=Install_CM_for_i777). Running heimdall on Ubuntu, I was able to flash codeworkx's ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.3 (and I checked and double-checked the md5sum) to my phone. As advertised, a blue bar appeared, Terminal told me "KERNEL upload successful", and the phone rebooted.
Unfortunately, at this point, I can't get past the initial Samsung splash screen; the boot just hangs. I also can't boot into recovery, but I can boot into download mode. From the reading I've been doing, it sounds like I should flash a different kernel. Does it matter which one? My phone was originally running the most recent OTA update (4.0.4), if that matters.
Sorry for the noobish questions, but at this point I'm scared that making changes will bork the phone more than I already have. Any advice is very much appreciated!

Yeah, that was my bad. Bit late though on never using that site. I still will pass your (and now my) advice on!
Before I went there, I had looked around the XDA forums. I had read many of the questions I was researching on XDA but continually found a "go do your research noob" type of answer. It was AFTER the fact, that I found what I needed. I guess the "uh-oh" feeling produced a more intense desire to research below the surface. Live and learn!
I still have the triangle and I'm booting into AOKP 4.1.2 (build from 12/2/2012) fine. I have read about Triangle Away and it seems that previous versions worked with i777 but the most recent version does not appear to list i777 so for now I'm just dealing with the tripped flash counter. My phone is out of warranty anyway, so I'm not that concerned about it.
Huge thanks for the response. For me, it really seems I flashed the wrong kernel (thanks to the aforementioned website). Outside of that "alert" at boot, phone functions the way it should.
Cheers!

I went for it and used Triangle-Away 2.5. All done. Bootscreen warning is gone. Happy phone.

Hi,
I am fairly new at this
I am on Shostock 3 v1.4. (rooted on zedomax gb kernel from galaxys2root). It worked pretty well until I tried to back up current ROM
I downloaded ROM manager from play store and flashed clockwork mod and went to back up current ROM and my AT&T i777 got stuck on triangle boot screen
I could not get into recovery mode to fix the problem (tried vol + and vol - and power button)
phone will not power down, I pulled the battery several times
after putting battery back in, tried powering back on and got the triangle boot screen again
any help would be appreciated
thanks

You are kidding. Why the hell would you download ROM manager after all the warnings in the forums? To top it off, if you were already on a custom ROM, you already had cwm.
I can't believe that you would risk your device without familiarizing yourself with the intricacies of it. Astonishing.
Try doing some legwork and reading the forums, as your fix has been posted before

Sorry I didn't see your post sooner. You need to flash a different kernel. More than likely that is the problem...at least that was my problem. Can you get into Download Mode, not Recovery Mode? You'll need a computer to do it. Seems to be easier on PC...or maybe more people use a PC to do it.
ROM Manager currently will work with i777. It went through a VERY bad period where it screwed up a bunch of phones. But ROM Manager is NOT necessary or recommended as it is in many kernels.
The Triangle issue is something that seems to be connected with the root method used on that other website. Triangle-Away worked for me...but you need to get your phone working again.
Hope this provides some help.

Rom manager does not work with i777.even just booting into recovery causes problems

I installed it. It works. I did uninstall it after 2 weeks of use with no problems. I uninstalled after I read several people who had issues. I assumed it was a fluke and I should probably get rid of it plus it is unnecessary. I can confirm it worked as of 2 or 3 weeks ago.

[Q] Major Problem!

Alright, so I had attempted to root my new AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH - i777 and succeeded, but had flashed an incorrect kernel so my phone is acting very strange. I can still use the phone and everything, but it will not let me get into download mode so that I can use ODIN to fix my phone completely with no errors. Then, I was thinking if I tried using this option in SuperSU which allowed me to unroot my phone, then maybe it'd fix the phone itself and correct the kernel. So now, I am stuck with an unrooted phone and cannot root it again because I cannot access download mode. I do have CWM, but I also ran into problems with that not being able to flash ANYTHING off my SD Card. Could someone please give some tips or tricks I could use to fix this?
p.s. I read somewhere about something relating to a jig? I am still relatively new to all of this so I don't know how I'd go with doing that without proper instruction.

How would I flash a different kernel? I can't do it through odin and I'm pretty sure CWM won't flash kernels. Plus, I'm not rooted anymore. So I'm not sure how I'd pull that one off.

Yeah because I ran into mobile odin after I found away to remove the root, hoping it would fix my phone. But that's where I kind of messed myself up. Would a jig be the only solution? Or is there another possible way? Could I do something through CWM?
EDIT: I cannot access CWM in any way since I am no longer rooted. I really screwed myself.
I understand that you are a little inexperienced, and I mean no disrespect, but what you are describing makes little or no sense. First do you have a Galaxy S2 I777? Next, what exactly are you doing to try to get into download mode? Next, how are you trying to access clockworkmod? Please be specific, and I hope you can get back to the conversation fairly soon, because I need to go to bed pretty soon. If not, I'll be here in the morning.

Well first off, to get into download mode I tried holding down both Vol. Up + Down and then plugging in the USB (with ODIN already up and running). Also, the phone was completely off when I do this. No matter how many times I try, which has been at least 30 times, it never works. also, I cannot acces CWM since I am no longer rooted, because I saw an option in an app called SuperSU that unroots your phone, but I had assumed that it would fix my problem. Apparently not.
No need to repeat yourself.
I've never heard of an I777 phone still able to boot and not able to enter download mode using the method you describe, unless somehow a secondary bootloader from another phone, say the I9100, got flashed onto it. Is there any possibility that the SuperSU flashed bootloader? Was that flashed in Odin? More details please.

Sorry, I should've made that part a bit clear. Yes, I am pretty sure I originally made a mistake of flashing the i9100 instead of i777. I went too fast into the process thinking I would know what to do, since I managed to root and install custom ROMs onto my old HTC Inspire 4G and my girlfriend's HTC Evo 4G. I realized HTC and Samsung are completely different, any phone at that, and I should be cautious from now on. And yes, I haven't seen a case like mine. My phone works fully functionally, I just cannot access download mode and since I am not rooted anymore, no longer have access to CWM. By the way, Im trying to get back to you as quick as possible so I can at least get a start by tonight before I myself goes to bed as well. ;P
OK. Looked up SuperSU app by chainfire. chainfire is a developer in the I9100 section. I don't see anything on his OP for the app that says it can be run on the I777. Didn't read in depth though. Need to take some time to study it to see exactly what it does. But on first look, it seems it could be involved in your problem.
Your phone can be recovered, but we have to know exactly what has happened to it in order to correct things.
Can you get into recovery mode using three buttons? vol+ vol- and Pwr.

Damn, I had sworn it said i777, because ever since I originally tried fixing all of this, I look out for i777 or not just to make sure I'm fooling with the right apps or kernels. And no, recovery mode won't work. Holding those buttons turns my phone off, with and without the USB cable plugged in. If I do it while the phone is off, it just boots up normally.
OK. You almost certainly have I9100 secondary bootloader, which governs button combination for download mode and recovery mode. I'm not sure if you can duplicate the I-9100 button combo on the I777, since in includes the hard home button which we don't have. You could maybe google it and see what you can find.
The other way to get into download mode that will work is a usb jig. Do you own one? If not, you can buy or make one. Buying one may delay fixing your phone by a few days. If you are handy, there are instructions for making a jig available by googling. Some links in one of my guides, too.

No, now that you say you flashed I9100 firmware, it probably means that SuperSU wasn't the problem. Doesn't matter now anyway. Just need to get your phone into download mode and flash back the full I777UCKH7 package including bootloaders that you can download from the Download Repository (link in my signature).

Alright, thanks for all the extra info. It really helped. My problem may not be fixed, but I even assumed I would need a jig. I guess I'll just order one online. Afterall, my phone still works. It is just bugged in an awkward way and I'd really love to root it, so I don't mind waiting a few days to get it going. Also, any recommendations on ROMs/kernels that I could maybe look into after all these problems are solved? Anyways, Thanks for everything!
EDIT: Also, whenever I get the jig, should I flash the bootloader or the stock kernel first? And another question, after this mess is fixed, is it okay to use a ICS ROM with a Gingerbread kernel and vice versa? Or should I find some guide about that? Lastly, I looked at the kernel that you were using out of curiosity and was wondering if TouchWiz or AOSP is better overall?.. I apologize for the explosion of questions, just so curious about all of this and want to know as much as I can.

Well I feel very stupid now. I have it all working, every last thing. I still plan on getting a jig to wipe the counter from the previous installations, but besides that, everything is perfect at this point. When I had originally tried adb I couldn't understand how to install it because it said there wasn't an adb directory, but I figured it all out. Thanks to both of you for the help. You guys are amazing!

I see you've already recovered the phone. I suggested that you flash the stock I777UCKH7 full distribution, which is under the heading I777UCKH7-CL503881 Stock Binaries in the Download Repository. That contains the bootloaders and everything else all in one package. I was then going to suggest that you follow my guide How to Flash Custom Binaries Without Ever Incrementing the Flash counter!! to root and install your custom rom.
For your other questions: You must have a Gingerbread kernel with Gingerbread and an ICS kernel with ICS. As far as what to flash onto your phone, that is a personal decision, and rom comparison threads get closed in this forum, and pretty much throughout xda. I like the rom I am currently using. It is an I9100 base modified for the I777 and uses the Apex launcher (not touchwiz). It comes with CherryPicker kernel, but even though I havn't changed my signature, I recently flashed Siyah kernel so that I can double boot AOKP and my regular rom. AOSP/AOKP roms are much closer to a straight Android experience. I'm just now trying it out for the first time. You just have to put something on your phone and try it out to see if you like it. If not, try something else.

I did follow your guide to doing it without incrementing the counter and now it works flawlessly. And I decided to test the ROM you were using and it is fabulous. Even though I do agree, Siyah is a better kernel. But isnt Siyah a Gingerbread kernel?

Help- I messed up my phone bad (stuck on exclamation mark)

So I decided to root my Samsung S2 i7777. Had years of experience flashing HTC hero and Hp touchpad. Thought this might be straightforward as well. Proceeded to get ODIN and ATTGalaxyS2RootStockZedomaxKernel.tar. Flashed it and got pass. Phone proceeded to reboot and was stuck on the Exclamation mark. Tried restarting but no luck same thing. Initially had CWM coming in when I tried the Volume and Power button trick but could not do anything beyond that.
Then I decided that maybe my flash was not proper with that file so I took the siyah kernel and flashed that. This was a pass as well and then back to...the exclamation mark. Now, I cannot get CWM and retarating the phone with the USB connected lets me get into the Downloading window, but I cannot do anything beyond it.
What can I do? Do I need to flash a ROM- is that why I am stuck? How should I flash the ROM from ODIN- if I do get CWM back, can I put the ROM on the SD card and flash it using CWM?
Please help- I am getting stressed out and if I do recover from this, I am going to take a break from rooting

I think you should head over to the stickies and look for creepyncrawly's thread. It sounds like you should also be able to flash firmware through download mode if kernels are working. Also, stay away from galaxys2root and zedomax in the future

You shouldn't take a break from rooting. You are just one of a very large group of people that have been blindsided by the galaxys2root website and its rogue developer zedomax. The firmware tools from that site have caused untold problems for people, similar to your problem.
To recover your phone, you need to first flash back to stock. Since you want to root the phone, and ultimately install custom firmware, you should first flash UCKH7 stock plus root package using the one-click downloader which you can get from the guide about how to flash custom binaries without incrementing the flash counter. The link for the guide is in my signature. Read the guide and follow it's directions. That should get you going again. If for some reason you have any trouble, post back here and we'll try to help you out.

Thanks I checked it out..seems like putting the Stock back on might help me. Just so that I understand this better before I do it, am I installing the UCLE5_Stock_Rooted.tar using ODIN and that is enough to get me through.
Thanks

Thanks for stopping by. I did not see your post when I posted my reply to the previous poster..I am so worried that I might screw it up more that I wanted to be doubly sure about this. from what I read, I am doing Step 2c as indicated below. Am I correct?
Thanks
2c.) How to root by flashing Entropy512's Return/Unbrick to Stock, Kernel + Rooted System Package with Modem using Odin3 One-Click Downloader (Windows)
UPDATE: I did download the "Odin3 One-Click Downloader Stock I-777 UCKH7 with Root no BL" package and extracted the file. Double clicked on it with the phone connected and all I see are the words I777- UCKH7 with Root with a lot of empty boxes below. Went to Odin and I see the phone connected (Com has yellow box) but nothing else is ticked off. Clicking Start does not do anything at all.
At my wits end- will not get any sleep tonite if I don't fix it.
Thanks in advance
I had a similar thing happen after trying to make a backup of the stock rom with Rom Manager (Yes, I know now, thanks much.)
If you keep trying new kernels/roms and it never clears up, you're pretty much stuck with wiping data. It won't wipe your sdcard, but more and more apps are sticking their data in the phone's memory rather than on the sdcard, so if you can get a backup at all, you really should.
Source: Was up until 2:30 the other night trying to make my phone work again. The above is a GUESS - it's probable I missed something that creepyncrawly wouldn't.
Ok more progress..turned off the phone and started 'I777UCKH7 OCD With Root.exe". Got the same window with lot of empty boxes. Had turned off the phone by this time and disconnected it. Now, I connected the phone and pressed the volume buttons. Phone goes into Download mode. Now, the Odin3 window has a Com port for the phone. Now I press start and it goes through a bunch of things before it declares "FAIL" in red. What do I do?
Evidently, the zedomax product you originally flashed, or perhaps the siyah kernel that you flashed second, has made some undesired modification. I'd like to know exactly which package you flashed for each one of these first before I suggest which way to start correcting the problem. Can you please post working links for each of the two downloads that you used? You should still be fine, and will be able to recover the phone.

The zedomax rooting kernel you flashed first is for Gingerbread version UCKH7, and was posted last October, shortly after the phone was released. If you had UCKH7 on the phone before you flashed that, it should have booted up fine. Most people I have heard about are able to use that rooting kernel successfully. So I need more information in order to be able to trouble shoot your situation.
First, are you sure your phone is SGH-I777, and not SGH-I727?
What firmware was installed on the phone before you flashed the zedomax kernel?
Has any other modification been done on the phone since or even before you had it?
The second kernel you flashed, the Siyah kernel, is an ICS kernel, version 3.4.2. The phone will not boot if the kernel and the system have different versions installed. So I need as much detailed information as possible so know what to do next.

The phone is SGH-I777 from AT&T. (I'll check the phone when I get home and reconfirm) The phone had the ICS installed (through the Kies update) before I (stupidly) tried the Zedomax Kernel. I just bought the phone new so no other modification had been done. After I had installed the Zedomax I had been able to see CWM if I did the power Volume trick but I cannot do it now since I installed the Siyah.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you need more info.

OK. The phone was new, and most likely came with Gingerbread 2.3.6 UCKK6 installed. You updated it using kies to ICS 4.0.3 UCLE5. Just asking for your confirmation here.
Then you tried to root with zedomax kernel, which is a Gingerbread 2.3.4 UCKH7 kernel, which explains why it flashed successfully, but failed to boot, since you can't have a Gingerbread kernel and an ICS system together. You were able to boot into ClockworkMod Recovery in the kernel though. We can't blame this problem on zedomax. That kernel usually works ok. You started modifying your phone before you were familiar enough with the phone and it's firmware. The error of flashing a Gingerbread kernel onto an ICS system was yours.
Next you flashed the Siyah v3.4.2 ICS kernel. This kernel should be compatible with the UCLE5 system files that are on the phone. It seems to me that the phone should now boot, and I'm not really sure from this sequence what might have been altered that prevented the phone from booting and also prevented the Odin flash back to stock from succeeding. The only thing you have flashed so far is two kernels. No other partitions should have been touched.
What kind of error message do you get when you try to boot into recovery mode using vol+ vol- Pwr?

That seems correct (with regards to the sequence of events of the phone).
The error message is just the words "SAMSUNG GALAXY SII GT1900"..with a huge exclamation at the bottom. It stays like that until I do a battery pull.

Please verify this - the screen says "Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100" assuming yours was a typo. Yellow triangle with exclamation mark?
This is what you get when you try to boot the phone normally, and also when you try to enter recovery mode using the three button method, vol+ vol- and power?

Yes, that is correct. It was a typo. I get the exclamation mark when I do the normal boot. I am going to confirm this evening if I get the same error with the 3 button method.

I'm not working from first hand experience, but I'm fairly good at correlating information and making deductions. Something in the sequence of events doesn't add up to me. You're sure you have the I777? You pulled the battery and looked at the label?
At this point any suggestions that I can offer are based on educated speculation. The first thing to try would be to flash an ICS kernel using Odin, but you have already done that. I would suggest that you try that again, but discard the tar you already have and download the tar again, from here. That may be the same place you downloaded it before, not sure. Be sure to use the original USB cable that came with the phone.

i777 AT&T - Boots OK but can't get into recovery

// edit // - just noticed I posted this in the i9100 thread, I'm sorry if someone can move this please.
Ok, so I rooted my Galaxy s2 last night and it went well, except I put a 9100 on it and my search/back button stopped working with any ROM i put on it. So after trying 20 different roms I went back to a stock ROM I downloaded.
Everything works well, and now i'm on a rooted kernel, except I cannot get into recovery/download mode by doing the 'button dance' anymore. The only way for me to get into recovery mode is to boot my phone up, use the widget "reboot widget root" to boot into recovery/download. Lets say I soft brick my phone installing something, I won't be able to boot into recovery since the OS isn't booting.
Any advice?
Thank you
I suggest you do a complete wipe for your phone and reformat the internal sdcard to get rid of any issues from flashing roms that were not suitable and then reflash with your preferred rom.
Since you have basically reset your phone everything should work properly now.
Isn't there another forum for your device? This thread is only for the international (unbranded) version, GT-I9100. Ask there and you'll be able to get better responses.

You lost the buttons because the rom you flashed contained the secondary bootloader for the I9100, which has different button combos. There are a couple of paths you can take. You can flash back to stock including bootloaders, and start over. Or you can first flash the I777 secondary bootloader using Odin, which will fix the button combos, and then use CLockworkMod Recovery to flash an I777 kernel. You might have to hell raise that rom. At that point you should be fixed.
You can get the files you need from the Download Repository, and the kernel from the development section. See the link in my Signature.

Ok, so it's been a while since I posted this thread. Since then, I've gathered the courage to attempt a re-flash. I've reflashed using ODIN and a different bootloader. Got that all taken care of and found myself a good stable copy of jellybam with CM10. Been using that for a while pretty successfully other then the battery life being sucked out and a couple random reboots.
Got rid of the SGS2 today and got myself an SGS3

You might've had the stock from the 9100 still in your phone so you shoot clear cache, and factory reset your phone and then flash the stock ROM again. Hope this helps.

[Q] Odin/Windows 7

Sorry all, i have seemed to messed up my phone. Was on abberation and running great, then i see someone was getting amazing battery with the dream kernal and decided to give it a shot, I think i downloaded the wrong one because my phone will no longer go past the samsung logo screen, just sits there, So i try and manually get into CWM and cannot get into it, O i figure i have done somehting real dumb and flashed a kernal that doesnt have CWM? Either way i try to get odin to recognize my phone and i cannot, windows keeps saying its not recognized.... I have tried 3 different cords, and 25 usb ports on three different computers to no avail...Is there some secret? not sure why windows 7 and samsung make it so impossible for this to happen. As i am ready to light all my computers on fire and throw my i777 into the street i figure i should post on here first and take a deep breath and remember im just a amateur when it comes to this stuff. I have installed and removed kies numerous times, restarted the computer multiple times, downloaded and installed unistalled the drivers from samsung directly... any help would be greatly appreciated as i dont have a phone for the moment. I have a jig and can get into download mode no problem.

First please verify that you have the SGH-I777. (Not the SGH-I727 or some other device.)
Next, try to enter recovery by holding the three buttons, vol- vol+ Pwr. If necessary, hold continuously while the logo appears, goes away and appears the second time, then release and see if it boots into recovery.
If you successfully flashed the wrong kernel, and only the kernel but not the system, then it should still have ClockworkMod Recovery, which may boot. If it boots, use recovery to flash the correct kernel for your phone.
It would be helpful to know exactly what you attempted to flash.
If this does not get you going, then post your results and we'll continue to help.

It would be helpful to know exactly what you attempted to flash.
If this does not get you going, then post your results and we'll continue to help.

Yes i have thew i777
I flashed the dream kernal 3.04 one with the mic swap
booted fine after flash, then when i rebooted it frooze at samsung logo
cannot get into recovery only download mode
http://buildenv.dream-irc.com/android/?nav=display&file=60
thats what i flashed and i was on abberation 1.3
is that only a jellybean kernal? was thinking it did ics and jb? was that the issue...
was my USB port.... changed it with the new one i had ordered a few weeks back and walah! odin recognized it. took about 4 mins to replace micro usb port, should have done when i got it
Glad you're back in business. That download looks like the correct kernel for our phone, so I don't know why it didn't boot. The kernel should be good for both ICS and JB (both 4.x). If it was me, I'd probably download from XDA.
That's the link from xda?

Yeah, I see that's their official download page, linked from the XDA thread. I havn't visited that thread in a long time.
Aberration comes with Siyah, but there's no reason I know of that it wouldn't work with Dream Kernel. I don't know what caused your problem. Maybe a bad flash?
Did you get your phone back?
Never mind... I saw that op posted on one of my threads at about the same time i posted here, so i deleted this

Hey man, I use version 2.7.4, may wanna try that one. Download the kernel, uninstall ex tweaks or whatever yer currently using to control cpu stuff, then reboot into recovery. Wipe cache, and flash new kernel. Then reboot,(into android) and install ex tweaks again. This is how I do it and it works for me. Good luck.

[Q] HELP! Tried to root my note and I'm stuck on the battery screen

I have the Korean SK Samsung Galaxy Note. I tried to root it tonight using the galaxy note II dev kit (was that my first mistake?) I picked the model number closest to mine and did everything as recommended. I got up to the Odin tool and followed those directions to a tee, but after that it just got stuck on the Samsung logo and wouldn't go anywhere after I closed the Odin tool.
I got the bright idea to hold the power button and the top volume buttton to hard reset. Now it is stuck on a drained battery screen with the loading logo just frozen in the middle of it.
Help?

what happens when you pull battery?
can you get download mode?
ALWAYS check your "Super Everything Thread".... it's in the General Forum. post#3 deals with Korean model
flashing wrong firmware usually results in brick. if you can get download mode, from what I understand, your OK.
go to super everything / rooting / read / read / read............I thought d/l mode was vol down and power. could be wrong.
follow instructions and let us know what happens. nothing worse than offering advice and not knowing if you helped.
Thanks for the advice. I did finally get into download mode but I can't really figure out what to do now. I think I just want to go back to stock. I tried doing it through KIES but that isn't working. If I use Odin, will it work?

don't let one bad experience ruin it.
not many are willing to follow the advice. I know your new here. the advice is always read, read, read. feel as confident as you can in what you are doing. it took me the better part of a month to work up the courage to flash anything.
first thing.............get rid of the Note 2 file that you flashed. don't need to go through that again.
read super everything again and again if needed. get all the files you need together. walk through the processes in your head.
you should have Odin opened up when you go into D/L mode. wait for phone to register "com #?"
make sure you run Odin as "administrator"
go slow..........its a marathon not a sprint. whats you hurry.
check Youtube for a tutorial......make sure everything is for YOUR model

Odin is the best and easiest way to return to stock, but you still have the same process to go through
Okay I tried to flash stock with Odin through download mode and everything seemed to work perfectly. It boots past the Samsung logo but NOW it gets stuck on the spinning T (I think it's a Korean thing) that is floating in space. Ugh, this is so frustrating.
I just want to get my phone back to normal at this point...

the T may be a Korean thing??? couldn't tell you for sure.
I may have gotten stuck at a similar point with my model.
I think 1 time I ran the Odin again and maybe another time I pulled battery and rebooted. but you have movement. we have had some files lately that just take longer to completely boot up.
patience
How long are you waiting for the spinning T to go away? It may take several minutes. Give it some time. And you are trying to install the stock SHV-E160 ROM and not something close?

I'm trying to install the 160S rom from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1899200
I've left the spinning T for about 20 minutes. SIt flashed okay in Odin but nothing is moving forward. I keep reading about the Tegrak rom and Clockwork recovery but I don't really know what those are. Should I try to read up more on that and try to that?
I'm not sure how that would work. I never saw or installed a rooted ROM using odin. I would think you would need a custom recovery first since all versions of superuser require it. Just guessing. So you have the E160S version? Try to use google to find a 100% stock (non rooted) ROM to install using Odin. I tried to search myself and found many links but was unable to read because of the different language. Maybe you will do better.
Also what version of odin did you use? Try to use the latest version 3.07
Root and recovery have nothing to do with each other.
You can be rooted with stock recovery,
Or have a custom recovery without root.
I've released a pre-rooted custom Rom .tar for use from going from bones stock to that Rom.
Not saying this isn't broken, just that it's doable.

I've used 3.07 and 1.85 trying to flash the rooted rom I posted. I haven't been successful in finding a 100% stock ROM either. I do have E160S. I will keep looking for a 100% stock ROM
