I don't see that, I see normal stuff.
Maybe try via WiFi? I doubt that helps, but just confirm that for me.

Appreciate the interest. On wifi now, same business. Was going for an easy fix, but I suppose I can just redo everything.

Okay, I have officially tried everything. Burned my whole afternoon. Even restoring completely to stock with odin doesn't work. Heading in to Verizon tomorrow.
Just give it some time. Mine was like that for about 24 hours.

Did you try modifying your build.prop file...maybe the footprint got botched.
I did not. Is there an instruction post? I'll search for it tomorrow. About to crash.
Unsure about waiting 24 hours, how does that work?
I know for the dinc there was a market fix so that the phone identified itself as a nexus one to the market. Perhaps something like that would work.

join the club i used Odin to flash CWRecovery and now i dont have WIFI not sure yet if i have market because i dont have 3G service @ home
please some one chime in ???
I flashed CWM last night and everthing is fine. Connected to wifi today at work market isn't giving me any problems.
I was the first guy to get CWM installed on the Fascinate, and I haven't had a single problem with the Market, paid or free.
I don't know if it has anything to do with CWM, but the issue didn't begin until I loaded it, so it's something that got screwed up along the way.
Before I loaded it, I undid the lagfix, wiped, re-rooted, and ran through the CWM steps.
Now I have gone completely back to stock, and am still having the same issues. My G/Fs Fascinate is fine however. I wasn't sure if anyone was familiar with what would be causing the issue, I understand it's working fine for everyone else. lol.

How far back to stock have you gone? If you don't mind going back to base zero, you can try something...
To go completely back to stock what would you recomend? The process outlined for the i9000 mix up?

I'm at base zero via your post, followed by a wipe to ensure that I killed root so I can possibly return the phone later today, lol. I'm seriously disturbed by this. Would be happy to try any possible fixes though.

Go do Settings - > Privacy -> Reset Factory Default (something like that).
It's different than a recovery wipe, this will rebuild /dbdata.
I betcha one whole dollar that fixes it. Unless you already did that. In which case I do not bet you one dollar.

Hey guys, it's deedscreen. The creator of the MoPho XDA Fan Group, facebook, Twitter, and Google+ page, and you may also know me as the one with the problems with the Photon who constantly nags, and rants with issues.
I just want to know if anyone has these issues too.
I have to deal with the phone being slow, constantly freezing, and the sleep of death, even after the latest update.
For the longest, I couldn't update the Photon, I found a thread on how to fix it by 'SBFing. So, I SBF'd it, it worked fine, updated to the latest software.
It was working fine, now I am back to the same issues, plus I cannot install any applications, nor update any applications. It will just say "INSTALLING" for literally hours, and never installs.
I have had the worst luck with this phone, I am going to 'SBF it back to stock, because a factory reset will not get rid of the battery icon modification.
I'm gonna return it to Sprint for a new one. I HAVE HAD IT WITH THIS PHONE!!! Why is it only me with this bad luck? It feels like no one else has these issues on the forums, I am always the one posting with these problems, myself alone! This phone is bad luck for me. I love it, when it works.
///RANT
PLEASE NOTE:
If you have a problem with this thread, keep your trap shut. I will have this thread closed if anyone insults me again, like the last time I had major issues. I am just experiencing bad luck. I need to know if anyone has similar issues. Sorry if I offended anyone.
Are you having similar issues?
Have u tried a completely stick photon...not modded and none of ur market Apps installed? ?

Dude, you are definitely NOT alone. I love this phone too when it is working properly. These are my two main issue:
Random Reboots
Keyboard locks up - When this happens, the phone will not dial out. (Reboot required)
* This is my 2nd MoPho and I had the same issues with my first one. *
Factory defects with hardware do happen. Replace if you can.

The reason why I am not quoting you guys, is because misleads users to think that I already have enough replies, so here we go.
@lucidvtec - I have tried stock options, that doesn't work always, not having any applications from the market installed is like asking me to jump off a bridge.
@sjamie - I do get random reboots ocassionally, but my keyboard, (no matter which one I use), constantly locks up. I get the "Sleep of Death" all of the time, and Constant Freezing. Please vote at the page here, on the forums to poll your results for issues with the Motorola Photon 4G MB855.
@Rapidlayout - You are correct.
-----------------------------
@lucidvtec, @sjamie, @ Rapidlayout: I am on my fifth Photon.
Mine was the same. Bricked it a few weeks ago and got this new one. Its perfect. There must be a bad batch of them, get it replaced bc no software is gonna fix it.

I just completed a MSL reset, a full wipe, and flashed the latest 198_7 sbf. Let's see if this resolves my rebooting and keyboard problems. If not, I'll try out one of joker's roms. If that still doesn't work, I'll go in for Photon #3.
@deedscreen: I'm sorry to hear you are on your 5th Photon. That is not encouraging to me.

Just to let you know ahead of time, the Full Wipe, MSL Reset, and latest 198_7 sbf, will appear to work, it will work perfectly fine for about a month and a half, like mine, and you will have the same issues all over again.
Just to let you know.
I'm about to go to the Sprint Customer Advantage Repair Center Store, for my 6th Motorola Photon 4G device. Motorola has supposedly fixed the problem. WE SHALL SEE.
I just have to do an SBF before I go to the Store. I did a battery modification and I want it reset to stock values.
Sorry to hear. It sucks to hear of others having such problems with the Photon. Myself and others have been lucky to just have the "normal" issues all smartphones have in common.
If I was in your shoes, each time I got a new phone it would be run stock for at least a week or two with no apps whatsoever installed (I know, I know...what is the point right?) just to see if the issues exist straight out of the box.
I hate to say it but I would have probably swapped the phone a few times and then moved to something else. At some point it just isn't worth it anymore.
Wonder if it is some type of voltage issue. Have you talked to Motorola about it and if so, what has been said?

Okay... that's really not encouraging!
However, I've never gone a full month with no problems so at least that would be progress for me!

I am devoted to the Photon, I love it's features, style, (MAINLY, I've puchased a bunch of accessories, and Sprint said that I can only get the HTC EVO Design 4G, or the Optimus, they are supposed to allow me to get a phone that is of equivalent specifications which is the Epic Touch SII Galaxy, which Sprint refused to give me.
Motorola says "We have never heard of anything like this, what are you talking about? This cannot be true!"
Those reps are quite frankly put, "stupid" in regards to the Photon and its technical difficulties. (Sorry if I offended any reps on the site.)
Sprint is trying to do the old "bait and switch on me"
I am willing to pay up to $100 price in differance, but I have put too much effort in the Photon and the Photon Forums here at XDA. After all, I am the creator of the Photon Fan Club Group here at XDA, (if you are not a member, look at my signature and join below.), I have created the Twitter, Google+ and facebook pages for this phone.
You know what I'm saying?
(By the way, I just SBF'd my phone without taking my microSD card out, and the SIM card, and I wanted to move all of my data before I sbf'd it. darn it. hope my sd card didn't get erased, I will be mad with myself if I did.)
well I just bought my photon 20 days ago from a guy on craigslist and yes it was brand new, never activated everything sealed for 250.
And so far the only thing I wasn't able to do was the update which a lot of people couldn't get their phones to update but I used the 198_7 SBF and that was it.
So far I only had 2 reboots (and that was when I was messing around with root explorer replacing some apks in the system folder)
But besides that I haven't had any problems that aren't normal on any android phone.
I read a few posts in other forums about bad batteries causing some of the problems we are facing. Therefore, I called Motorola and they are sending me a new battery for FREE! I pray this fixes everything. (fingers crossed)

It is actually true.
I am sorry about that.

Well, since 198_7 isn't official, isn't flashing that SBF actually taking you away from a stock experience?
Never had one random reboot. Maybe some apps or a not 100% working root you guy's applied to the phone? Mine is flawless.

So, I've been jumping back and forth between Atrix CM9 and CM7 roms and running the .36p radio. Yesterday on CM9, i started getting a large amounts of random reboots and finally got things settled by doing a factory reset in CWM and flashing a clean cm9 rom. However, whenever I turned on wifi, the phone would crash and reboot to the Dual Core logo. I tried flashing another CM9 rom and it didn't crash, but the wifi radio would never seem to pick up any AP's (i'm at home).
I've gone as far as changing to the .37p radio and going back to cm7 to no avail... I'm a bit worried I might have "fried" the wifi radio on the phone.
Did you do a full wipe? Use fastboot to wipe properly before flashing any ROM. Plenty of threads with instructions.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Looking at the fast boot command, I'm not sure how that does anything different then the clockwork mod wipe... but I will give it a shot.
Sent from my NookColor using xda premium
Sorry, but your wifi/bluetooth card is dead. My Atrix got the exact same symptoms a few days ago. Both WiFi and bluetooth are on the same chip. When the system tries to reference them, it fails to locate the hardware and crashes/reboots.
In fact, in researching this topic, I found dozens of threads about this. We should make a sticky about it at this point. Best Buy was kind enough to take back my phone (unlocked bootloader, rooted, cwm, custom fonts, startup, etc.) if I restored it all to stock. If you want Motorola/AT&T/the store you purchased it at to not void your warranty, you should flash the 2.3.6 SBF. Just be cautious and read all about it. But that is the only way that Motorola will service a modded phone

Nothing like the same. Clockwork wipe only does data and cache. You erase boot, system, preinstall, cache, user, webtop, etc., via fastboot. I've posted the procedure probably more than 20 times before.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Yeah unfortunately even after a fastboot wipe, the phone's bluetooth and wifi were gone. I was also over the year warranty. Luckily, I picked up a barely used one on Craigslist and restored my backup to it. Now i've got an expensive battery charger (and spare phone should i need it).
If there were any tips you'd have on restoring to a new phone? I've restored my phone a lot and worked on a lot of android phones (I work at a repair shop), but I've never restored data/settings from one phone to another. Of course its the same model, but I can only imagine the issues that could arise out of such an operation
Thanks!
I just made sure I did a fastboot full wipe of the new phone, then placed my clockworkmod directory on the internal (external should be ok too) storage and did a restore. After the restore, I re-flashed the latest version of the rom I was running on top of it with Google apps and it booted fine. Afterwards, I made sure to do a permissions repair and reboot.
Yeah, it seems like a lot of people are having this problem. Like me for example :[
So far there is no solution that I'm aware of, after trying practically everything I could think of and find on the internet... I'm pretty sure it's hardware related. I bet the phone just isn't very high quality. How much did it cost again? $600? + all of the dumb accessories for it. Normally when you see a pattern of failures you would call it a design flaw, but apparently when it comes to expensive electronics they call it out of warranty.

For anyone interested, here is a supposed solution to the problem:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYz_RiuFVRk
It will require you to open the phone up, and solder the "wifi battery" into place. I'm not sure what the hell that thing is, but that guy in the video called it a battery. Voids warranty etc. Good luck.

I think you just got lucky bud and I would not encourage anyone else to do the same thing. Just because they agreed to fix your phone doesn't mean that everyone else will be as fortunate. Samsung and your phone carrier clearly stated that if you do flash a non OEM ROM you will be voiding your warranty.
Also, lets wait till you get your phone back before you consider this a success.

Yeah. I wouldn't recommend it. I feel like if I sent my phone in for some sort of software issue I would be out of luck.
I will update this thread when I actually get the phone back.
it might depend on the repair in question. A screen replacement is just hardware so they may not mind the software being a custom ROM. I sent in a GT 10.1 with AOKP installed to fix a screen issue. I'm sure they noticed the angry rainbow unicorn when they booted it up. They fixed it no problem though annoyingly, they actually WIPED my entire device, sdcard and everything back to stock. On the GT 10.1 boards, no one has had that happen except me.
I have to send my note in for a repair on my SD card slot, which keeps popping out the microsd. My phone has a custom rom and probably 3 on the flash counter. I was hoping they didn't care since it was a hardware issue. On a side note, it sucks that AT&T doesn't give out loaner phones while it's being fixed.

Makes me wonder if they just gave you a different phone? Or you memorized the hardware numbers? I agree with you being a hardware issue, they are probably not going to care about the flash counter. If you sent them a boot looping device that had the flash counter up high, then i would suspect they might say something.
No real worries guys. I had to send my phone in to Sammy for a screen issue a couple days before braway released the counter reset. They repaired it with no issues, wiped the ROM and reset the counter for me lol. This was back in late March.
Edit- in my case, they gave me the same phone because the Bluetooth physical address was the same. They replaced the screen including the front glass, so I didn't get my screen protector back.
Im pretty sure the techs there get paid by the hour and Im also sure that they themselves(techs) flash custom software on their devices. If I worked in that dept, I would spend the extra time resetting your flash counters and reverting you to stock, only to make my day go by quicker... I wouldn't recommend betting the farm on that. IMHO

I sent it off Monday and I already have the tracking number for the return shipping. In any case, I am using my old iPhone 3g until I get my phone back. It's always good to have a spare.
So people wouldn't recommend it, but who here has actually been denied service with an upped counter?
Traditionally, going all the way back to my Nexus One, the phone manufacturers don't care about root/s-off/flash counter if it's a clear hardware issue. If your button stops working or your screen doesn't respond anymore or your phone doesn't charge, they generally fix it.

Of course its best to have a backup, but at the time I didn't. I didn't expect a loaner, but when the CSR on the phone said I'd get one...then the store says no...well, we have problems.

Good Morning All,
I'm wondering if anyone would be able to assist me. I recently installed CM10.1 on my I777 and all was fine until this afternoon when it suddenly began losing mobile network connectivity. One minute I have full bars, the next, nothing; it happens every few seconds or so. I thought that maybe it was the rom causing issues or the modem (had UCKH7 installed at the time), so I decided to revert back to Stock ICS (the build compiled by AJ Newkirk, normal, rooted stock), but the problem still remained. I tried flashing a different modem other than the UCLE5 that comes as default in the ICS build (flashed UCKH7), but that didn't work either. Finally, I decided to use creepyncrawly's guide and revert back to stock Gingerbread but still the problem remains. At this point I'm wondering if there is anything else that can be done to get the phone fully functional again; maybe it needs to be opened or something? Getting it replaced via warranty is out of the question due to my location so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Another possible thing to try that has worked wonders for me is to go to recovery. Advanced. Fix Permissions. I had my signal cutting out in the middle of calls and that fixed it for me. Hope it helps.

Just to be clear, there was no physical impact to the phone, right?
Flashing new modems can make a difference, but it's pretty marginal; it won't create signal.

Nope, no impact to the device whatsoever.
FWIW, I tried swapping the rear of mine and the wife's S2's since the antenna is located at the base of the device along with the loudspeaker. I got the same problem when I did. I placed the rear of mine onto hers and her device gets full signal strength. Therefore, I have to conclude that there is something wrong with the board itself on mine. I'll probably try and see if I can get an I777 off of Ebay for parts and make the necessary changeouts. If it's too pricey, I'll just abandon it and get a new phone. Thanks all for the suggestions/assistance guys. :good:
I'm having similar issue actually. I didn't think much of it until you posted up. I wonder if there is a correlation
I'm also running CM 10.1

So what you're suggesting is that there may be a remote possibility that something in CM10.1 is triggering this issue? If someone else chimes in with the same issue, then we could say for sure, but otherwise we just look like two random cases. Did you try any of the stuff I did? Maybe you might have more luck than me.

I didn't try anything besides switching modems. I've been too lazy haha.

You can't assume though. There is a Huge difference between correlation and coincidence

Lol... I hear you man... I think I've tried everything I can think of except throwing it against the wall or dropping it a couple feet off the ground.. lol.
Just an update.... I did some more flashing between returning it to stock rooted GB, then ICS, then I decided to flash ShoStock 3. Afterwards I put the phone to charge since the battery had run down to about 20% and when I checked back a few minutes later, it was super hot.. so hot in fact, that the phone refused to charge the battery stating that it was too hot to do so. So I unplugged it, removed the rear cover to allow it to cool down and left it alone for a while. Later on when it was much cooler, I checked it and noticed that the cell reception was no longer cutting in and out, but I was still skeptical. However, after a couple hours, as of this post, it still works as it should, even after rebooting. I plan to flash a different rom tomorrow to see if it holds out which may be kinda risky, but after what happened today, I'm confident that it will.:fingers-crossed:

...you've got one messed up phone.
I know right? It didn't hold out anyways and is still giving the problem, but I finally figured out after doing some serious googling, reading and part swapping that it's the board that is causing all the problems. I was thinking of ordering a replacement board I found on ebay, but it would make more sense to just put the extra and buy another s2 on auction.... They're pretty cheap now anyways.

I was using AJ Newkirk's Semi 18 and I experienced occasional loss of the cell radio - no calls or texts. A reboot would fix. I think it also happened when I used a different ICS ROM but it never happened when my S2 was stock. I'm now using ShoStock3, a JB based ROM, and haven't had any occurrence. In fact, this is the fastest and most stable ROM I've ever used.
Just wanted to chime in. My network loss is fixed now. Turns out I had a dying sim card! It fully died today overnight so I woke up with no network at all. I thought my phone ****ted out but bam! New sim card and I'm golden

Nice... glad to hear your issue is fixed!! I'm getting a GT-I9100 next week for a good deal from a friend that wants to buy a Galaxy Nexus and I've swapped phones with the wife so she'll get the one I'm buying. All she ever does is go on facebook anyways....
