I don't take any credit for finding this fix, but I wanted to make it more accessible for E4GLTE owners.
Want to be able to access your Exchange email account without the security permissions required by your work/school? I know I do - so here's how:
First, backup your ROM (this is a fairly safe modification, but better safe than sorry).
Next, remove your Exchange ActiveSync account if you already have it on the phone (I've had good luck skipping this step). Then follow these steps (or just use one of the recovery flashable zips):
Download the attached Mail.apk to your phone.
Using a root access file explorer (Root Explorer is my favorite) go to \system\app
Mount as R/W, and delete or rename Mail.apk and mail.odex (I renamed them to Mail.apk.bak and mail.odex.bak).
Copy the downloaded Mail.apk into \system\app
Set permissions to match the original Mail.apk
Reboot (Recommended: reboot to recovery and clear Cache/Dalvik cache)
Now re-add your Exchange account, and you should be set!
Note that this makes your sensitive email more vulnerable to bad people if your phone is stolen (and your security admin will not be happy with you if they find out) - this is on your head, not mine!
Huge thanks to rathore4u for making the original modified app available for a large number of phones (ICS both Sense and AOSP). Original thread is here - be sure to thank him for his wisdom!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Edit 2/15/2013* - Rebuilt from the newest OTA build (3.16) (works now - thanks mikeyxda!)
*Edit 2/13/2013* - Added revert-to-stock zip for 3.16.
*Edit 12/27/2012* - Rebuilt the modded apk from stock Evo LTE JB (no longer using shnizlon's)... hopefully this will fix any problems people were having? Also added a revert-to-stock JB zip.
*Edit 12/18/2012* - Added a flashable zip for Jelly Bean/Sense 4+. Credit goes to tbonnano231 and shnizlon - go send them some Thanks!
*Edit 9/4/2012* - Fixed my flashable zips to work better (correct permissions and automagically clears cache/dalvik cache).
*Edit 8/31/2012* - Used Rathore4u's guide to modify the Sense 4.1 Mail.apk (from the 2.13.651.1 base).
*Edit 6/29/2012* - Using rathore4u's how-to guide and the Mail.apk from mikeyxda's MeanROM, I created a Mail.apk with Sync While Roaming and HTML message format available. I've attached this as an apk and a flashable zip (make sure to rename the apk to Mail.apk if you go the manual method). Be sure to thank both rathore4u and mikeyxda for their contributions!
*Edit 6/14/2012* - Rathore4u stepped up and helped us out - we now have our very own modified mail app for the E4GLTE! This version has none of the bugs the previous one had (text prediction/deletion works just fine [tested using SwiftKey] and notification sound works as well). I've replaced the attached file with the fixed version, and included a flashable zip I made for those who are lazy like me
Attached Files (newest files are blue):
Mail-41.apk - Stock Evo 4G LTE mail with security disabled (2.13.651.1 base - NEWEST)
Mail-sans-security_E4GLTE-41.zip - Stock Evo 4G LTE mail with security disabled, recovery flashable zip (2.13.651.1 base - NEWEST)
Mail.apk - Stock Evo 4G LTE mail with security disabled (from older base)
Mail-sans-security_E4GLTE.zip - Stock Evo 4G LTE mail with security disabled, recovery flashable zip
Mail-MeanFeatures-NoSecurity.apk - MeanROM mail (Sync while roaming and HTML enabled) with security disabled [rename to Mail.apk when you install]
Mail-MeanFeatures-NoSecurity-E4GLTE.zip - MeanROM mail with security disabled, recovery flashable zip [this zip backs up your previous Mail.apk as Mail.apk.bak, in case you want to go back to stock]
Mail-No-Security_EvoLTE-JB.zip - Jelly Bean/Sense 4+ mail with security disabled, recovery flashable zip
Stock-Mail_EvoLTE-JB.zip - STOCK Jelly Bean/Sense 4+ mail, recovery flashable zip (revert to stock!)
[*]Stock-Mail_3.16.zip - Stock Jelly Bean/Sense 4+ mail 3.16 OTA, recovery flashable zip
[*]Mail-No-Security_3.16.zip - Jelly Bean/Sense 4+ mail with security disabled for 3.16 OTA, recovery flashable zip
Thanks so much for this! I'll give it a try, have had modded mail.apk files for all of the other sense versions.

Thanks! Trying now!
Works well
Thanks, works great!!
I've used this, and it has worked to disable exchange policies. I get a very strange response now though when I try to delete or correct a misspelled word. The word will duplicate itself, and it makes it almost impossible to delete. I have tried three different keyboards, and it does it with all of them.
Any thoughts?

I also have had the same issue with it. And it will keep doing it, making the sentence worse.
Wow I never noticed that bug before until I tried it out.
It's annoying as hell.
Was this bug present on the stock app?

It only does it in the email app, but it looks like the HTC keyboard works fine. Does it do it with that keyboard for you guys?

Weird. I didn't make the file just grabbed it from the thread I listed - maybe ask them there? I don't know how to edit smalis...

For those of you having the problem, what keyboard are you using?
Edit: I tested this using Swype, SwiftKey, and the HTC keyboard. The delete bug occurs using any keyboard except HTC's, for some reason. I've posted in rathore4u's original thread to see if he can help, I'll let you all know if he can figure it out.

Yeah, the bug occurs in the preloaded version of Swype, as well as Swiftkey X, and Swiftkey 3 beta.
For folks using Swype, just go to Swype preferences and disable word suggestion (all 3 checkboxes) and this problem goes away. However the problem with the notification sound not working still remains, atleast I can't find a workaround for it.
Rathore4u helped us out and made a modified Mail.apk based on the E4GLTE's apk. I've tested it and it doesn't have the text prediction/deletion bug (tested using SwiftKey) and it does play notification sounds!
I've updated the OP with the new Mail.apk, and also created a flashable zip if that's what you'd prefer.

Just a note, the new version is deodexed. Which in my experience, if you are on an odexed ROM (stock) will cause you to see an "Android is upgrading" window everytime you reboot and it slows down reboots.
I'm looking to see if we can odex that apk so we will have both versions.
Here is the odexed version I just made, works great!
This is NOT a flashable zip. Extract out mail.apk and mail.odex and copy them to /system/app

I believe it does the "updating apps" thing only once, doesn't it? I made my zip erase mail.odex so it would work with the odexed ROM (at least, I think it should).

The text prediction/deletion bug also went away with Swype, however the notification sound still isn't working for me. I have replaced the app, cleared cache and dalvik cache. Also tried re-setting up the exchange account again and that didn't help either. Anyone else facing this issue?

CleverNameHere Rom Release 1
This rom is discontinued as I have moved on to the Nexus 7. God Bless, everyone!
This ROM is based off of the Evo View 4G's 2nd OTA (security update) and was created with DSIXDA's rom kitchen. Special thanks to pardonmyfreedom for figuring out the view's mount points.
Features
Rooted
Busybox
Deodexed
Zipaligned on boot
Ad Free Hosts file added
Bash shell & nano installed along with sysro/sysrw scripts
Added custom boot animation (found about 4th hand, will give credit when I can find original owner) and switched the shutdown animation to the stock HTC one
Hardware Accelerated UI
Dalvik heap increased
Filesystem Tweaks
SD card speed tweak
Juwe11's ram optimization script
New Market
Removed most of the bloatware (including teeter, which i'd forgotten before), and left blockbuster, qik, polaris office and sprint nav in data/app so that it can be easily removed if you prefer to do so
Disabled HTC update checking
baked in facebook, google+, es file explorer, Titanium Backup & Mybackup Root, Onlive Viewer, Dolphin Browser HD
Skype for chat included, along with enabling bluetooth headsets
Features in optional theming zip (coming soon, need to rebase off of OTA2)
Crysis Battery Mod
running test icon set
Changed off green (HTC Color) into actually green on loading circle and download bar
Green Overscroll
Please help me test this rom for a couple of days while I'm continuing to add features as well as offer suggestions for improvements. I already have a few in mind as well, just need to continue working through them. I'm also looking for anyone who has theming experience since I'm an IT guy and not a graphics designer ;-)

Pre-Installation Instructions
Make sure your HTC Evo View 4G is S-off and has a recovery installed, the best way to do that is to follow this guide by Globatron. You also need to have an SD Card in your view in order to be able to flash things through Clockwork Mod.
Installation Instructions
The betas of this ROM will wipe data, so I recommend backing up important information in MyBackup Root and Titanium Backup. The Full Releases (RLS 1, RLS 2, etc.) and Release Candidates (RC1, Etc.) will not wipe data, but if you're coming from stock or just want to make sure your devices is clean, do a factory reset from within clockworkmod recovery between steps 3 and 4 of the guide below.
Copy the Rom .zip file to the base of your SD Card, not the internal storage of your View
Boot into your tablet's bootloader by holding volume down & power while unit is powered off
select recovery by using the volume arrows and hit power to select
you should now be looking at a black screen with blue text, if not make sure you followed the S-off guide. using the volume keys to navigate and power button to select, select install zip from sd card using power
select choose zip from sdcard
select the clevernamehere .zip file on your sdcard
navigate down to the option that says 'Yes - Install clevernamehere*.zip' where * is the name of the version of the rom (eg. beta1)
Rom will now install and run it's course. The script will be more verbose then it is now by the final version
select the +++++Go Back+++++ option
now select reboot system now and the view will reboot. this will take a while, just like it did when you took it out of the box.
Rom is now installed and working! let me know if you find any bugs or have feature requests.
Removing all user data before installing a new rom (Factory Data Reset)
Boot into your tablet's bootloader by holding volume down & power while unit is powered off
select recovery by using the volume arrows and hit power to select
you should now be looking at a black screen with blue text, if not make sure you followed the S-off guide. using the volume keys to navigate and power button to select, select wipe data/factory reset.
navigate down to the option that says 'Yes -- delete all user data' and select it. This will wipe ALL of your data and the data will be unrecoverable after this unless you have backed it up using Titanium Backup and Mybackup Root.
device will now wipe itself and take you back to the main clockworkmod menu. continue on from step 4 of the above guide to flash the rom if you already have the .zip on your device.
Uninstallation Instructions (going back to stock)
Download the shipped rom RUU from here. This was posted by Football on the Flyer Shipped ROMs list here
with your tablet powered on, plugged into your computer via USB, run the RUU. It will take over after you confirm you want to 'update' and format you back to almost completely stock (I was still s-off but I had lost root of course)
go ahead and update your tablet back to the latest OTA (the first OTA) using software update on your tablet.
now go to this thread by attn1 about getting clockworkmod back as well as root. don't forget the view is named the express and DO NOT download anything from this link that has flyer in the name
you are now ready to flash another rom or reflash mine
im giving this a try ill report back....
Thanks! Let me know what you think. I have a few ideas for speed improvements and I will for sure have a more descriptive flashing script

Removing sense is always a large undertaking. I'll tackle that at a later time, so sense for now. Beta 2 is going to remove as much as possible and put it into a zip for the few users who might actually want it. I'll look into having 4g autostart as an option. Thanks for the name suggestion.

Beta 2 is now uploaded. I have been working on theming and it is quite a bit harder on sense based roms than it is on touchwiz. I'll also upload the removed apks as a zip file tomorrow.
Since there are currently only 2 roms specific to the View I thought I would give yours a try as well as the XPRS rom. I really dig that boot screen. So far everything seems to be smooth without any issues. I am running it with the ADW Ex launcher and all of my primary apps work well including netflix..

Aye c-dude any chance of a change log for those of us wondering? Thanks for the ROM. We need more View chefs and your contribution is DEFINETLY appreciated!!!
Why the hate for stock?
Do you have a completely stock updated rooted ver? What base are you using?
Edit: This was not meant to as disrespect to you. Thanks for all the hard work. The talented devs are the only reason we have this community today.
ContraDude thanks for all the hard work on this rom as its really the only rom we have on the view that is currently being worked on, once they have the kernel source released I know some devs who are willing to make some kernels for our tab. However, one request that I have which you may be able to figure out, as I could not, is how to get the android market to install apps it says arent compatible. I originally thought that changing the fingerprint would fix the issue however I have changed the fingerprint to several different devices and currently have the fingerprint showing the tab as an EVO 3d to the android market. Unfortunately this still doesnt get apps like facebook, go sms, or other apps to show up. I have attached a screenshot that shows my tab showing up as an evo3d. Also I believe that it may have something to do with other lines in the build.prop that show that the device is not a phone, not sure where those are. However I did completely take out an reference of the model number, product, and brand to mirror those from the build.prop of my evo 3d, so I changed more than just the fingerprint and it still doesn't work.

No one is willing to do their own dirty work anymore. What happened to if you don't want it uninstall it now that you have root. Do you have a completely stock rooted updated ver? I cannot find a 2.3.4 stock rooted rom for my wife's view.I saw you removed teeter which my kids love, kept in blockbuster, polaris, and telenav(no good without premium gps fee) which I don't use. I cannot take any Ota's without causing problems so I am still 2.3.3. But every rom maker out there is all about remove this and remove that. I for one have no problem removing stuff I don't use, and on the other hand do use some of the bloat apps everyone is so "remove happy" over. Sorry for the rant but it used to be the user removed what they didn't want. I thought that is what root was for. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for being a sterling example of everything that's wrong with XDA. You complain that people don't do their own work, then complain when you have to do your own work?
If you wanted a rooted stock rom, why are your looking at custom rom's? Run the s-off tool then flash the zip that gives you root. At that point you have a rooted stock rom.

Thanks for being an example of the majority of XDA users, quick to flame and not help. Yes the rant could have been left out but that was my opinion on removing apps. No one can say what the next guy will or will not use, just pointing out somewhere it was agreed that stock apps were bad. I learned with the 3d that some bloat apps are system and will not install correctly with the normal installation of apk's(reader being one of them). I can put these back into system myself as I have done it many times already. No disrespect was aimed at anybody but it seems you are ready to fire back at a moments notice.

Custom roms can still be custom without removing stuff. It's the added tweaks that make them custom. And I am currently Stock rooted.
"So easy, a caveman can do it"
AS ALWAYS use at your own risk. Not responsible for anything that might happen to your phone.
Updated DeSense for both, ICS and GB, roms. Changes are NO LONGER permanent.
What can I use this for?:
- set your mainver to accept any of the rezound PH*.zip files while using bootloader
- change look and feel of your rom from sense to something else
- remove extra apps not needed to use your phone
- install apps you need before logging into market
- easily reboot into recovery/bootloader w/o pulling the battery
- block ads
- fix bluetooth on ICS roms
Instructions:
** Must ALREADY be rooted before running (htc Dev Unlock)**
- HTC Drivers must be installed on PC
- USB Debugging turned on for phone
- Connect via usb and charge only
- extract zip somewhere and double click DeSense_v#.bat
- Choose option in menu
Extra steps (recommended)
- Prior to de-sense, log in to all your accounts and setup the intial syncing because you may not be able to once you have de-sensed. Syncing should work after you de-sense if you do this...
Optional:
- Nandroid backup your phone in case you run into issues.
Available options:
**1** DeSense for both ICS and GB
Removes Sense UI. Must have a launcher already installed!!!
**2** Fix Bluetooth on ICS roms
Thx to JoelZ. Click here and thank/donate!
**3** Restore
Restores all of the original apk's you have removed using this util
**4** Install apps (choice menu)
Included apps are:
- wifi tether
- es file explorer
- titanium backup
- Swype
- Nova Launcher (ICS Only)
**5** Remove more HTC, Verizon & google extras
Now removes even more apps!!! If you need something back that this removed, you can use any root exploring program to move the apk from /system/bkup/ to /system/
**6** Change Mainver to universal
Will set your MainVer to "1.00.000.0". This should allow you to install any rom's boot image without getting a mainver error.
Big thanks to drellisdee. Click here to thank/donate!
**7** Remove HTC Lockscreen
Removes HTC circle lockscreen and reverts to default android (NOTE: See Troubleshooting/Issues below, before performing this option*.)
**8** Install ICS notification bar and settings (!!!do not use!!!)
do not use this option as most of (if not all) the newer roms will not be based off the 3.0.11
**9** Install ad-block hosts file
This will block ads in your browser(s) and apps. Must reboot to take effect.
**0** Reboot (choice menu)
Reboot options
- into bootloader
- into recovery
- or normal
Change Log:
v7 -Changed ICS launcher to nova launcher
-Changed settings.apk to a stable one tweaked by romanbb

Does the wifi tether charge against normal data or will carrier detect and add?
Also, is there a list of all items frozen? I've been slowly freezing htc stuff with zerg/titanium bu and I know I missed some stuff out of caution/uncertainty/fear.
Thanks!
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
if you open the batch file with any text editor you can see what gets disabled. If you disable an apk twice, it will not affect your phone. So no worries about re-freezing frozen stuff.
wifi tether uses root to provide the service, i cannot make any guarantees to what Verizon will or will not do. I have been using this apk for a while without issues, but I am not making any claims. This stuff is always "use at your own risk"!
The program uses your phone data connection (which is part of your data plan) to provide wifi to other devices i.e. other phones, laptops, desktops, ps3's, etc. If you have limited data plan you can go over the limit using this app.

Yeah I am partial to go launcher myself but cant stomach another UI in the background. Will be nice to pull this sense stuff off the device. Thanks guys.
So far - very awesome. Works great. Love the Sense unlock with go launcher. Perfect.
Im running myn's silk rom and ive been looking for hacked mail.apk that works. I did google 'mail.apk sense 3.6' and it took me to an xda thread where there are bunch of mail.apks. unfortunately, none of them worked with this rom.
Has anybody tried hacking mail.apk in myn's rom? Would you mind sharing the apk and odex file?
Thanks!
Anyone?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA
Try the attached apk. It will still prompt you to activate the security policies but it doesn't actually do anything so just tap "Activate" when prompted. I pulled the Mail.apk from my phone which is running MeanRom 1.9 ICS and hacked it myself to bypass the security policies so I would guess it should work for any other Sense enabled ICS rom but I can't guarantee it.
For installation, just copy it to /system/app/Mail.apk (via adb or root explorer or whatever you want) and reboot. You'll have to delete and readd any accounts that already exist as well as recreate any shortcuts to the Mail app.
Enjoy!
EDIT: See Post #3 for the same zip versions that are in the OP, but with different versions of the AOSP Mms.apk that you can choose from (based on popular demand).
Okay boys and girls, I think we may have done it. Right now I currently have the fully-themeable MMS from here working on my AT&T S4 TouchWiz ROM - NO WORKAROUNDS FOR SENDING MMS, AND GROUP MESSAGING FULLY FUNCTIONAL!! Additionally (thanks to @WoodburyMan), due to an incompatibility between the stock CM10.1 MMS app and image size limits imposed by AT&T (and possibly other carriers), the MMS apk within the zip has been modified to prevent the odd image re-sizing issues that have been so frustrating to many users.
NOTE: This WILL wipe your text messages during install, so make sure you back them up prior to install using TiBu or another method (there are several free SMS backup apps floating around the Play Store) and then restore after installing.
Due to the modifications to framework files, this mod is dependent upon the base of the ROM you are running. At this point in time, the changes in base were the most significant in the upgrade to MEA (the international i9505 non-carrier build). As such, it is crucial that you download the correct version of the zip attached to this post. For those that do not know how to tell what base you are on, open up your build.prop from /system and find the following line:
Code:
ro.build.version.incremental=
On the resulting build version number, note the last three digits. If the last three digits are MEA, MF2, MF4, MF8, MF9, or MGA, then download the "MEA+" zip file. If the last three characters begin with "MD" or "MK", download the "PRE-MEA" zip file. If it says MF3, download the "MF3" version. You'll notice very quickly if you've downloaded the wrong version, because pretty much every app that you open after flashing the file will eventually force-close and you will have the sudden urge to chunk your phone at your own head because you downloaded the wrong file.
Directions:
1) MUST be rooted with a custom recovery.
2) Download the zip file attached below.
3) MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP MMS/SMS BEFORE FLASHING!!! The zip will delete your current inbox. This is your second warning...if you post in this thread complaining about how this wiped your messages, anonymous/faceless internet users will laugh at you.
4) Flash the zip in custom recovery. I am using TWRP but any custom recovery should be fine A nandroid is always recommended to be on the safe side
5) After reboot, use a file explorer such as root explorer and navigate to system/app and rename KeyguardWidget.apk to KeyguardWidget.apk.bak. This keep the small keywidget clock being forced as the default.
6) PROFIT, you should now have fully functional AOSP 4.2 messaging with working group messaging and no workaround needed for MMS
For anyone who has issues, I made this restore zip that should restore you back to your original state prior to flashing this mod. No, it won't also restore your MMS messages. (See #3 above.) My assumption was that a majority of the users who will be flashing the app will be coming from the stock TW messaging app...so if you're already on an AOSP MMS (ie with the workaround), you'll need to manually make a backup of the Mms.apk PRIOR to flashing this package. So as long as you originally came from stock MMS or you manually backed up your previous AOSP app, you shouldn't need to revert to a Nandroid backup (although, as always, one is recommended prior to flashing anything new) - just copy your backed up Mms.apk to /system/app.
Once you get everything back online, make sure you followed all instructions perfectly and downloaded the right file. If you did and it's still not working, please post the following and I will try to get you up and running:
CARRIER (ATT, Verizon, etc.)
ROM (MintJelly, HyperDrive, Omega, etc.)
BASE (MEA, MF4, MDL, MDK, etc.)
Navigate to /system/app and /system/framework and copy "SecTelephonyProvider.apk" and "framework2.jar", respectively, to your sdcard (make sure they are the files from your ROM as if it were just clean-flashed...it won't do any good if you post the files that were installed when you flashed my zip). Post these here and I will dig into them to see if anything can be done for a fix.

SMS/MMS RECEIVED SCREEN-ON WORKAROUND
I have a Tasker profile (if you haven't heard of Tasker, it is a super awesome app that literally is unlimited in its capabilities for automating your phone) that takes care of this for me.
Download Tasker:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
Download Secure Settings Tasker Plugin:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.intangibleobject.securesettings.plugin
Download and import my profile/task into Tasker:
(Profile): http://www.mediafire.com/?4ea2lp22u225xxp
(Task): http://www.mediafire.com/?9qm5ii8fm35wvti
I have it set to turn the screen on for 5 seconds any time a message is received...but you can adjust it to your liking within the Secure Settings Plugin.
Here are some alternative zips containing different versions of the MMS app, based on several people requesting certain features within the app or differently-themed versions.
Feel free to participate and share any other version that you've had a good experience with - and I'll add them here!
NOTE: If you already have flashed one of my earlier zips and you're on AOSP, just download the Mms.apk file from this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43700174) and follow install instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43659066. I don't think that I'm flashing this successfully. After the flash, my stock TW sms app says that it is now uninstalled when I try to press the shortcut, but I do not know how to access the AOSP mms app on the phone. I can see that there is the MMS.apk in system/apps when using rootexplorer, but there is no shortcut to the app in my drawer. I have reverted using the provided zip and reflashed again to receive the same result.
Carrier: AT&T
ROM: Mint Jelly V3
Baseband: I337UCUAMDL
Build: MEA
I soft-bricked my phone last night using flashing the pre-MEA zip because I was stupid and careless. I installed the MEA zip this time. I really want to get this working so any help is very appreciated.
EDIT: I cannot post my SecTelephonyProvider.apk or framework2.jar because I am currently on my work computer.

If you set up a shortcut on your launcher for the Sammie MMS, then it's not going to work anymore because the app no longer exists.
What launcher are you using? You should be able to delete the shortcut you had and create a new one with the new MMS apk as the destination. Or you could just open up the app drawer and it should be in there somewhere.

I'm on nova launcher prime. I've tried going back to TW launcher to see if the AOSP shortcut popped up there somehow, but it wasn't there. It is also nowhere to be found on my app manager either.
EDIT: I attempted to sideload the MMS.apk from the other thread. It did not replace the stock TW sms as it was supposed to and there is also no new shortcut in the drawer.
Any way to get quick reply on the notification bar?

It's a system app, so you won't be able to sideload it regardless.
This is so strange, I can't think of any reason why this is happening. Did you check to make sure SecMms.apk was appropriately renamed to SecMms.apk.bak?
Also make sure permissions on Mms.apk are rw-r--r--.
To make 100% sure they are, open up Terminal Emulator and run the following:
su
chmod 644 /system/app/Mms.apk
Also, please go to Settings -> More -> Application Manager -> All and then scroll down and tell me if you see "Messaging". If so, click on it just for kicks and clear app data/cache + reboot.

There is also no "Messaging" in my app manager after flashing the zip. I am completely stumped.. and I want this very badly. I will try to format my /system and do another clean install of MintJelly V3 before flashing your zip again and see how it goes.
OK so I see Air-View SOMEWHAT works because it highlights the text, it just does not show the preview like it's supposed to. Do you plan on fixing this and making the Air View fully functional/working?! That would make this by far the best messaging app....... EVER!!!!! Good work though man!

Just did the clean flash of MintJelly V3. First thing I did was attempt to flash your CM10.1 MMS zip. Still same result - no new shortcut anywhere to be found and no mms in my app manager. Did formatting my system have anything to do with messing this up?
EDIT: I now restored to an old MDL nandroid backup and attempted to flash the pre-MEA zip. Still no AOSP messaging on my phone. The last thing I can think of is restoring my phone to factory via kies when I'm home tonight and to flash this on a rooted stock TW rom. If that doesn't work then I'm out of ideas.
I had to do a restore because I was having image size problems. I reflashed this MMS and now when I click on messaging it says app not installed.
I'm on AT&T ShoStock ROM

hey CPA Used the PRE MEA file, didnt work. So i tried to go back to stock... . I cant get my original keyguardwidget to come back on, its still defaulting to the small clock. I have renamed it to remove the .bak, It seems the widget is totally disabled, no edit button no custom text. Ive tried to flash the restore_previous_mms and it didnt seem to do anything. my stock samsung messaging app is working.

Unfortunately that would require Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz source. I'm not even quite how the AirView is even partly working...I'm guessing Sammie must have kept some of the source from Google's stock MMS base when they applied their TouchWiz skin, so it's still picking up some of the dependencies.
Just thought we needed a trimmed Rom to tide us over til CM/AOSP/Lolipop comes along. This is about half the size of the original factory ROM. So may I introduce...
BARREN Odex & Deodexed
See Post #2 for addons and minor updates
Anybody can use this as a base. All I ask is a little credit.
Disclaimer: You install this at your own risk!!!

What it has - Change log
Code:
V3
First Sprint Rom that installs a kernel. Can you say "BUMP'd!"
init.d support through the kernel
added more init.d scripts. Helps performance and battery, I hope.
Updated to the current mixer paths - should be good to go
Removed a couple, now useless apps for Barren

V2
All the goodness from V_1 series
Added init.d support
SQLite
Zipalign on every reboot - /system/app, /priv-app, /data/app
Removed - LG File Manager, maybe some others
Added into /data - updated and removable - LG Keyboard, Estrong File Explorer, Sprint VoiceMail, GoogleSearch, Xposed, G3 Tweakbox
Probably other minor things I can't remember

Mixer paths - Increases volume - [B]THIS CAN DAMAGE YOUR SPEAKERS!![/B] You've been warned!!
LG Stock Boot animation
Google keyboard only - Removed LG Keyboard and Swype
Removed too many things to list
Maybe some other things i forgot
To install:
Make a backup in TWRP first! And always make sure you've backed up your EFS.
In TWRP, select "Wipe", "Advanced", and select /system, /data, /dalvic, and /cache. DO NOT select "Internal, or ext SD!
Flash zip
Profit!!!!
On first boot:
You may not have reception. Use Wifi or add accounts later
Just acknowledge LG agreement - it won't install anything
Go to Settings and update profile/PRL.
Subsequent boots/reboots:
You may get a Gapps warning. This is OK. Google Search is no longer a /system/app. It'll be in /data, if you download it.
Bugs:
None that I know of. You tell me
Possibly on V2 Play Store not updating properly - time will tell

and
To add other apps - This I'm gonna leave for you to work on. Heres how:
If you want any other app from the stock ROM, you'll need to pull it from a Stock ROM and place it in either /system/app or /system/priv-app BEFORE you flash this zip. Use 7zip or Linux and open the zip and place the apk in the appropriate folder.
In TWRP, wipe /cache and /dalvic ONLY
Flash ROM
Profit!!!
You will need to start from scratch. So flash Barren, wipe cache and dalvic. Flash Concierge and reboot.
It SHOULD work properly and did when I tested it. You add this on your own.
Hell yeah. First. Thanks for this.
