That would be a disappointment to me. I love HTC and they started to make me question that with the locked bootloaders and now this. If they do get bought that'll just leave Samsung and apple. And Motorola if google knows what to do with them.

No doubt there, mobile is the future. Plus its not Facebooks first foray into phones, but maybe they will be more serious this time.

HTC wouldn't sell, not to them, not now. They have way to much to loose if they sell, but much to gain if they remain as partners.
I don't see this as a wise business decision for HTC to sell out to Facebook (out of anyone else they can sell themselves to...) HTC holds to many patents and technology secrets that Facebook wouldn't know how to handle or value.

Bad idea.
Microsoft holds almost half of the company.
If FB do this... it will mean that MS is buying HTC under the table.
It near future, they will implement lots of Win Mobile... and Android is going to vanish from HTC.

it could save HTC, lets face it, they are really in a sad shape after all the hits they have taken in 2011, first quarter of 2012 and the import ban of latest weeks.
but I dont see how Zukerberg can sell this bet to the suckers... pardon, investors that are already seing their shares falling value vertically without getting crucified.

This is not gonna happen. As a matter of fact, if FB stock keeps dropping like a rock as it has since it's initial offering, it won't be buying much of anything. lol
