myfiles - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anybody know how to get the old my files back on ics? Not an app from the market.
Im not able to access my external sd card, it says theres nothing there even when there is?
Thanks

No access to the external sdcard?
What ROM?

Are you on a custom rom?
If so, use a file explorer to find /mnt/emmc and you'll see the contents of your external SD card there.

Installed on Micro SD card only?

I have searched and I have not been able to find my answer. I have looked in the settings and I have changed the settings.
But it doesn't matter how I set it up it always install the files onto the internal memory .
I have a Micro SD card that I would like to install most of the programs
Is there a way to install the programs onto the external Micro SD card or a move them there after you download them ?
I remember reading a thread or two about moving apps to the SD card ... have you tried searching on "move apps to SD card"?
Heh! The grass is always greener on the other side isn't it?
The easiest solution to your problem would be for you to install CyanogenMod. It likes to install everything on the external SD card--so much so that people resort to hacking /system/etc/vold.fstab to get it to use the internal SD card instead.
You might care to look at that file on your ROM (I'm assuming its VEGAn-5.1.1 or one of the other Froyo-based ROMs). The vold program uses that file to determine where disks should be mounted. You can switch only the device paths in that file to get vold to mount it the way you want it--external SD card as /sdcard and the internal SD card as /sdcard2.
If you just want to manually move files from place to place, use Root Explorer.

external_sd

Im having issues locating my files on my external sd card, when i open es file explorer and go into the external_sd folder its empty, but my gallery is showing me all my pics from my sd card

are you on AOSP ROM? Does your computer show files on the external SD card?
It might in Removable folder?

Are you going into /sdcard/external_sd?
That's where mine is...
I have this problem on my Original Galaxy Tab running ICS Alpha 3 ROM. The /sdcard/external_sd/ is empty. In my case, the external sd is mounted on /mnt/emmc/, which can only be accessed through Root Explorer.
Thank you mate, I just got an SD card yesterday and got baffled where it might be Too bad xda app doesnt support thanks feature :-(

For some reason cwm does not see my ext micro sd card. I placed a custom rom on it and when go to install the Rom it does not see the sd card, it just sees the internal sd card. Root explore does not see the sd card either. Only app that sees it ous Astro. Anyone else have this problem.

Root Explorer does see the card, you just need to go to the /mnt folder.
For CWM? You need to actually put the rom on the internal storage. Our version of CWM does not support the external card right now. In the future? Yes, most likely.

Backup internal SDCard to external?

I want to backup the internal SDCard files to my external SDCard.
I cannot find any info about it anywhere.
Is there a simple way to do this?
Just use file browser and copy the folders over and Root if you want everything.

yes ... but ... this method makes no sense p.ex. if you deleted photos at the internal sd card ... because only with an image of the internal sd card you can use the windows recovery progs (because usb mass storage functionality works only with EXTERNAL sd cards) ... so ... anybody ... ideas? Thx!
yep, best thing would be automatic/
but obviously there's no app for it (yet...) /
