Blue, red, green (presumably an app could also provide mixed colours).
bought it juz for fun.
pleasantly surprised by the functions it offers.
a good buy definitely. doesnt cost a kidney too.
on my s3 when lightflow is on it activates talk back function when choosing home screen page. and talk back and driving mode are off :S
Yep - thats a bug (not with Lightflow) but elsewhere as this also happens with other apps that require Accessibility function.
Requires root or not?

I cannot seem to get it to work at all? Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Did you guys need to use direct mode?
Root isn't required.
Yes talk back is an android bug in ics that Google seem happy to ignore. Their support even blame the app devs such as ourselves (and the tasker devs) for the issue but will not reply once you challenge them. It's really frustrating!
I hope to get an s3 over the next week or so to see if there are any extra things I van hook into that Samsung have added to ics.
I have one person with the lte version of the phone and it seems that that doesn't work so well as all the colors are messed up. I hope it's a pre production bug.
New version of the app due soon with quite a few additions.

You need select the function from accessability. Untick led functions within settings and that's it. Let me know of that works.
I think the talkback issue is more of a touchwiz issue, as if you change the launcher to Apex there is no problem
Also i have totally removed talkback from my device... And i still habe the same issue.. So im quite sure what else to try

Had the same problem and had to do a factory reset.
Well I managed to pick up and S3 for development.
I've been playing around with the tackback issue. What is working for me at the moment is going into accessibility. Switching "ON" talkback. Then pressing the "settings button at the bottom".
Uncheck every checkbox in the settings.
Then switch talkback OFF again.
Could anyone else see if this helps for them?
New version of lightflow due very soon, just fixing up a few last bits for the s3 with the new version.

Tried the above still have the talkback bug only but it only seems to be touchwiz related i.e when I open folders on a homescreen or go into the homescreen manager. Seems that the bug appeared after I enabled tasker under accessibility settings.
pulsing led
If you turn on or off your s3, you can see the led actually pulsing blue and greenish... I wonder if an app could make the led pulse in the same way for notifications...
Related
So I am wondering if there is a way to turn off the LED lights within Tasker? I have a night profile where it turns down all the sounds, vibrations, etc etc but noticed last night that the LED light was flashing for some emails I had come in. I had a look in the tasker settings but I couldn't see any that would disable the LED?
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas?
OK, I shall keep up this conversation with myself (the voices in my head make me feel like it's a normal conversation with others though ). I found the setting in tasker to turn off the led - it's in the audio section and it's called 'notification pulse'. In my night profile I have now set that to 'off' but it made no difference and any emails during the night had the led flashing
You can use Light Flow to disable notifications at a certain time, plus you can do a lot of customisation.
You need root.

I reckon, you don't need root w light flow, but other than that bortak is absolutely right. Light flow does all that and perfectly.
Yes, you are totally right. I have installed and uninstalled lightflow a few times already. While it does do that for me, it's just not quite working right. I kept on having a notification light flashing after dismissing or viewing a notification. It just wouldn't stop flashing. That was bugging me more than the extra features I got out of the app, so I've removed it again.

this is because you havemt set the "clear notification style" parameter. set it to 'screen on'. so that once you wake up the screen al notifications are cleared and u wont see that blink again. Normally it is set to 'app entered', where you have to go to the app (or the phone and click on the missed call etc). set it to what I told to all your notifications.
Thanks. I'll take another look at that. I thought I had it set that way but wouldn't be surprised to see I was wrong. I do think that I'd tried entering the app as well when it wouldn't clear, and still wouldn't.
Hi!
Im searching nearly same. Im looking for a solution to switch off and switch on this notofication Led like i want by a tasker or by a widget 1 click.
I dont really like the app light flow.
Tasker is audio>notification pulse
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks rootSU. I had found that, but it doesn't seem to be working on the S3. I found the tasker google group and some similar problems exist there. One is having the same problem as me, and another I think is trying to turn the led on but it's not working; all S3's. Maybe tasker isn't optomised for this on the s3 yet?
I've found lightflow to be hit or miss. Sometimes the led keeps flashing even when the notification is dismissed (have checked my settings, even tried different ones), and the day before flashing for sms's stopped working. Even a reboot didn't fix it. So, I lived without the led's on my S1 and I'll do the same here. I had them on last night and kept waking to a notification of some kind and found that too annoying.
Thanks for the help and suggestions guys. Appreciate it.
Just a widget 1 click to switch would be perfect for me.

I think it works for me but not entirely. That ecpksind why the missus woke me up the other night to complain about the led. Hope it's fixed soon.
Once fixed Fred, you can create a widget in tasker

Don't suppose anyone's come up with any more ideas about this? I have emailed the tasker developers and I don't think they were 100% sure, but didn't think the notification pulse setting was for disabling the led's completely. I still try playing with lightflow every now and then, but the little bugs I have (mostly sms notification led not dismissing without reboot or entering lf app (only thing that works is having manual dismissal but it's a pain)) are still present for me. I also tried it with handcent but was getting no led notifications.
Hey guys,
I figured out a fix for the Verizon Galaxy S3. I know there are differences between the way the international version and US versions handle the notification light, but it might at least give you guys a starting point. You do need root.

need help jellyverse rom v0.3 i get notified even after turning off the led in the settings it blinks blue not big of a deal but does seem to drain battery after a few hours
Has anyone found a way to do this yet? Notification Pulse doesn't work, at least on the SGS3. I have tried LightFlow in the past, I found it buggy and uninstalled it.
I've been using light manager to manager my led for a while now. Doesn't have the talkback issues I had with lightflow, and free.

Good point - I was going to root last night then thought I'd be screwed if something goes wrong with the phone!
yeah thats what im waiting for , really dont want to void the warranty on a few day old phone by rooting it
Well you can always restore the phone to factory settings, reset the flash counter and unroot which isnt that hard tbh and then nobody would ever no you rooted or flashed another ROM and to your warranty would be intact!
Im going to try out this app now cheers guys!

I have SMS setup to blink green. Here is what happens
Green light comes on
Screen turns on for like 5 seconds showing the lockscreen and the new message
Green light comes on for a short duration
Red light comes on even shorter.
No more blinks.
I recommend lightflow lite..it is free and work perfectly with sgs3
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Your phone doesn't need to be rooted to run light flow.
The issue with SMS showing and then stopping is due to the way it's monitored.
The Samsung SMS app causes the app to pop-up when a new text comes in. Doing this causes lightflow to think the app has been entered and cancels the notification straight away.
Could you try switch on "alternate off monitoring". That's what's needed for some other apps the have a pop-up like this.
I've got an s3 to test this out on, but I haven't got around to cutting a sim card down yet to try out the phone functionality. I plan to do that before releasing lightflow release 3.
To avoid battery drain make sure you set "notification type" TO "Show latest only" in general settings of light flow.
I didn't put this thread in q and a since it's not really asking for basic help.
Moving along, i like the way the led pulses on phone power off with the animated Samsung logo. Is there some way to get the led to pulse like that for notifications? I'm a little disappointed that there aren't more ways to customize the appearance of it.
Thanks in advance!

Not sure what I did but I have Lightflow working with talkback off. I'll mention that Lightflow works best when you have root which I have. My setup does just what I want. Also note that the Note 2 has a setting that enables flashing the LED for incoming messages, voice mail and one other thing I can't recall. The drawback of this stock capability is that the flashing goes off when the screen comes on. I only want the light off when I go to the app causing the LED notification which Lightflow allows me to setup.
Light manager works beautifully andbits free...no bugs

If rooted, the light will stay on when the screen is on using light flow - go into settings and enable root mode and s3 root mode. Unless I misunderstood what you said, in which case, my bad.
Also, once it disables air view to turn on light flow, just go back in and turn on airview

Can you elaborate, please? I understand that you don't want the machine vibration, but when? while you touch the screen, or the keyboard?
In that case just uncheck the vibration option under Settings -> Sound, or under Settings -> Language&Input -> Google keyboard settings.

Hi thanks I don't want it ever, I tried what you said last night (after googling it) but it didn't help. I discovered with more googling that me having everything permanently on mute was causing it to activate vibrate mode automatically. So I turned my volume to zero then up a notch or two (as was recommended). That cuts it out mostly but when I move app icons around for example it still bloody buzzes at me. Makes me jump every time.

Hey don't be like that man. We are only trying to help.
Go to settings, sound and disable vibrate on touch. This should disable the keyboard.
Download something like Widgetsoid and there should be a toggle that allows you to disable system wide vibrate.
Some apps may override it, like SwiftKey so you may need to disable it for some apps manually

As I mentioned I am not "suffering" from "bad vibrations" using Google Now Launcher (but otherwise completely stock). I didn't consider this to be the reason but who would have? At least I took some time investigating and finally realized why I am not experiencing this "issue" while others do and even offered a solution for those who are annoyed: Install Google Now Launcher (or any other launcher, though I don't know which one does "solve" that too)
It saddens me that some people get so offensive over nothing...

Tried that too. Still doesn't work.
Maybe is not working when you are using one of the live infinity display themes...? Have you tried with normal backgrounds (and consequently with normal AOD - not live one).
Maybe is just working when the device is screen down?.
Just a thought.
I've had no issues with it working with the screen off. I have AOD on and the original theme still. I only have it set to come on when I get a text thru Textra app
It turns out you have to make sure that pop up notifications is on when the screen is off for all the apps you want the edge lighting to work.:fingers-crossed:
Yet another stupid software design from Samsung, all most of us want is that the edge lighting can replace the notification led, right? But no somehow they over complicate this ****.
