Reformat internal and external sd card - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Noob Q . I want to reformat my internal and external sd card and just wondering if that would affect the Rom and kernel. In other words , will my phone still turn on after i do this action? will it also affect the cwm recovery. Any info is much appreciated, sorry if im such a noob. Thanks
P.S. i have tried searching before posting and couldn't
find the answer im looking for.

So i have actually tried reformat internal and external sd card through cwm recovery, after reformat i just boot system and it did but when i check some pics files it shows the nmber that it's still there but doesnt show the pictures so i figure maybe i should reboot and then thats when i got stuck to boot loop , i was thinking while rebooting that maybe i should have clear cache and dalvik . The problem is the phone is unable to boot into dload or cwm recovery, i also have done battery pull , stuck at the rom boot animation. Need help ,any info is much appreciated. thanks.
Edit: after few tries i was able to boot into cwm recovery , so i just did a clean reinstall of my rom, everythings fine now. But i still wonder
why it happen, what did i do wrong. By the way even after the reinstall i still got boot loop , it finally boot after factory reset in cwm.
2ndEDIT: And the problem is the kernel version 3.2.8 siyah , found out at the kernel thread.

When it rebooted everything was fine except the internal sd is not mounted and i havent found a way to mount it i think it might be a problem with encrypting it.

[Q] Please help my device wont get pass the gt i9300 screen

Hey guys this is my first time messing with custom roms and my biggest fear has come true i think i bricked my phone, at least soft brick.
here is what happened:
I decided to flash supernexus 5 rom and everything went well, however my wifi wasnt working i tried to do a nandroid recover from a nandroid backup that i had from a while back made with the same version of cmw but it i got the message "no files found" even when i had put the folder with the recovery in my internal storage in the cmw folder. I decided to do a factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache but this didn't solve my problem with cmw not detecting the files then i went on and did this i went to mounts and storage as i read on a thread that mounting and unmounting everything solved the problem for a guy but this did not help either, then i went to mounts and storage and formated cache, data and system as shown in this youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCoI62PG7jE&feature=g-hist after that i tried to rebot the phone but it wont get pass the inicial galaxy s3 i9300 screen, i tried whipe data cache and factory reset again but i still can't make it boot ,I can get to recovery however it still doesn't see the folder that i have there. If i connect the phone to the pc it says installing drivers for the device but it fails and i can't see the phone anymore as connected.
Please help me you have no idea how much i saved for buying this and i don't want to loose it.
this is the version of cmw that im using CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.5

You formatted system so you have no os to boot! Flash stock Rom with Odin.
Nb.......if you are using cm10/aosp you need to flash an ics Rom, let it boot, and enable wifi before then going on to flash the Rom as wifi won't work coming direct from jb Rom

can you remember if the backup was created with a different version of cwm to that which you are trying to restore it from?

yes it was the same version only thing is that when i made it i have rooted with cf-root 6.4, but after flashing the stock elk4 leak i used cf auto root and then installed the recovery on its own but is the same version.

hmmmm......not sure what the problem is then, only thing I can suggest is flash the cf root again(not the auto one) and see if that sorts it, but I would move that backup back to its original location first
thanks again!! i will try flashing it again.

It's just a shot in the dark, but it's the direction I would head in if it happened to me......or I would just abandon the backup and start afresh !

[q] help- can't get out of twrp

While performing a ROM change, I ran into this problem: Using TWRP 2.4.1 i got into recovery and did a clean install as usual. Wipe internal storage, factory reset, system, dalvik, and cache, and format data. Done this plenty of times , with never a problem. Today however, when i went to install from external storage, my phone is not seeing the sd card. I can still boot into TWRP, so I tried formating card, then tried 4 different sd cards, but no luck with phone mounting sd card. How do I get an operating system back on this? ODIN? Please advise. Thank you
Boot into Odin flash a stock ROM
okay, Thanks for the quick reply. I've never flashed a stock rom from odin before. Will that unroot my phone?(not that I mind, just wondering). And also, how do I get into ODIN to flash?
My bad I meant boot into Download Mode (if you can) then flash a stock ROM through Odin. Yes it will unroot you, but yo can easily root your device again. Follow the steps Here to unroot.

[Q] Stuck in TWRP

I think I am missing the rom but I cant find anyway to install it

Update:
I just tried using adb command to boot into bootloader and i succeeded and booted in android

SOLVED: Stuck at boot / No rom wants to install

Maybe someone can help me here. Using TWRP 2.8.0.1 I am unable to fully install any rom.
I had slimkat on my phone and decided I wanted to try regular CM 11. So I wiped everything in advanced wipe so I could start fresh.
Put the Rom and Gapps on my phone then tried to flash.
However while installing CM, it just goes about its business until the progress bar hangs at updating partition details.
It also appears I cannot move files to the internal memory from the sd card.
Are my partitions messed up?
All that happens now is getting stuck at the samsung boot logo or rebooting into TWRP...
Any help?

Yes partitions could be mixed up but my first port of call would be to return to stock with odin and if that boots and works then start again and don't use twrp try PhilZ recovery.
If partitions are corrupt there are things you can try but I would first try to get your phone to boot then report back.

Thanks for your help! Because of you I tried PhilZ, which then told me it couldn't successfully open/read the rom from the SD card. (Something twrp didn't tell me).
I then changed my SD card for another one I had laying around and it worked. (Strange the old one failed since I formatted it atleast a few times)
Once again, thanks for your tip!
This is now solved!
