Hey there guys,
I'm just wondering what is the best (from personal use and perhaps statistics) modem to use for the orange network in the UK, preferably southern UK if it makes any difference? I used to use LPS which was quite good but recently have been getting next to nothing in signal where I live.
I would try out all the modems for myself so I wouldn't need to post this but I have no time to myself either so just an answer that you think is good for orange is good enough for me!
Thank you!
I know this is a very nooby question and I appreciate that but I would still love an answer!

well, here http://www.veyka.co.uk/radios/ you have a list of modems..download and flash via recovery i recomand to you nelp2,gives me full signal but drains battery a little much than others modems. personally i use xxki4 is best for battery life. and if i have 3 lines of signal is good. let 3 days the modems..to stable it,and if is not good u may try others.

Hello!
i need help, i have radio version 1.47.00.10 on my tytn; i would like to know if there is a newer version of radio which can help battery duration and improve wifi stability!
i have read it that 1.50.00.00 version is batter...is true?
thanks
Radio roms depend on location and carrier. If we don't know where you are and who you're with we can't help.
Battery life also depends on this as a radio rom that is continually searching for a signal will suck the battery dry REALLY quick.
Need more info before anyone can help you...
Radio ROM...
Ultra...
I am firing up the 'ol 8525 for the wife and was wondering the same as it has been a while since I flashed this puppy. We live around Nashville TN and are on the AT&T network. Any ideas for speed and battery life as far as the radio goes? I am placing RDZ's ROM on it I think as it looks nice, it has an old ROM from CRC v10.2 I believe... let me know.
Thanks again!
HAHAHA...
Just noticed you had the same Avatar... how strange. I have had this as my linux wallpaper for the past 5 years. I find that very strange... I have never seen anyone else post using it!
Mate, had this avatar for a long time... Cheeky with attitude....
As for the radio roms, I can't really say as I live in Oz. There was a thread around that told you what radio versions were good for where, but I looked for a while and couldn't find it, could be that its 1:45am here and I'm a little bit tired too.
Maybe someone who lives in your area and is with AT&T might be nice enough to suggest which is best....
Cheers...
Oh, and I've seen at least one other person on this site that has the same avatar as us...;D
Hello
thanks fot your help.
i live in italy and use 3g network (and sometimes 2.5g)
i use h3g....
thanks
Hi. I am a pretty new user and I wanted to ask which modem is the best for battery life and performance in Asia. Example zsjpg for sgs.

Varies mate, there is no "best". Generally I like to use a modem from a firmware that was released in my country. I'm on a modem thats been made specifically for 3 UK phones for example. In your case though I would just try each on until I found one I liked. I see a lot of people using ki3 & ki4 so you could start there

Hi there, can I ask which modem you find best for 3 uk? I'm on neki2 at the moment but I'm not the impressed. Other modems I've tried(ki3 and ki4) seem to struggle to switch to 2g(orange network)
neki2 seems to take forever to switch from 3g to h
I'm on checkrom v4
Thanks
Start with latest modem and work backwards .
jje
Thanks I've tried a few ki3 worked well on voda but I've move to 3 now. This modem works great till it needs to switch to 2g then it does work well with the 3 network so I've used 3 own one. I was just interested to see if anyone had a better option a this one seems a bit slow
Thanks
Hi guys,
I recently noticed that the Vodafone reception has been very, very bad. I'm talking 1 - 2 bars MAX and the rest of the time absolutely no reception, anywhere.
Is anyone having this problem? What could be the cause of this? I have a brand new SIM card as well - and on 2.3.7 MIUI ROM. Any help will be appreciated and thanked
Try flashing a different RADIO/MODEM package... Different ones are meant for different regions and yield varying results as far as reception and call quality are concerned. And there's nothing like the "best radio"... That's like asking what's the best religion. It's all about experimentation.
Try KJ1 from here. This is the best modem I've tried/used over the past 2 and a half months. I'm in Geelong and this gives me the best signal strength/coverage & data speeds. KI2 from Cellcom Israel from here was also good.
It could also be a Vodafone lack of coverage/capacity issue as well.
If you find neither of these improves the situation, do what Prassad suggests & try every modem you can get your hands on.

Will that affect the way my current NDT MIUI ROM operates? and do I just flash it through Odin or CWM?

Both vodafone and Telstra sell the T model i9100 galaxy which requires a T modem. Whenever I flash a new rom I reflash with a T modem to get decent reception back.
Sent from my GT-I9100
And funnily enough, the thread which has a link to the modem I suggest he flash has a first line that reads "I9100T Modem from Vodafone Australia"
Hi! I'm searching for a good radio to work with dutch T-Mobile and my sgs2.
Thanks in advance.
Your best bet is to try them yourself, flashing a modem is not dangers, there is also no such thing as best modem, it very much depends on the area you are in.

I would go for the XXJVU one. That's the one I use and I've tried many of them.
I am currently on LP7 and works rather well I must say.
Some people say the bad modem will decrease battery etc but I havent encountered that yet.
just stick with the more standard one such as LPH/LPR/LPQ or KI4

Thanks, but it's an I9000 modem, not I9100.
Hello everyone. I got my SGS2 just a few days ago so I dont know much about it and I was wondering, what is the best modem for Europe? I got the phone with custom ROM already and the modem is XXLS6. Don't know if it's good for Europe or not.
I tried searching for answer in google, but with no luck.
Thanks in advance to everyone who at least tries to answer my foolish question.
the best thing is to try a few different modems and see which suits you. modems have different pros and cons depending on location.
The thing is I don't even know where to start. I see a list of 50+ modems. And it would take weeks to test them all.
Doesn't your current modem work properly? If not, maybe you can ask in the specific thread(s) about modems which one is the most used in your country.

Well the thing is that with this phone I get no network while I'm at work. Network was ok when I was on my old SGS. And I was thinking that was caused by modem.
Try to found out something about a better modem in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950
I thought there was a comment on the first page about some modems that usually work quite well in Europe. Good luck.

PBVLP7 gives me very good 2G signal (better than NELP3) but worse 3G. I'll be testing NELP4 soon

in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16980217&postcount=5 you can see "RECOMMENDED MODEMS TO TRY:" - give them a try or just google: s2 modem and your location/carrier. In worst scenario you'll just be back to this thread
test and share what you've learned
