OK I'm new to the tf201. Just got it after my tf101 and have tried searching for some answers but didn't find anything.
When I manually set my brightness and say watch a movie in the dark at night I can see my brightness clicking up and down. Anyone experienced this? I also have washed out colors ... but I think that's just my screen.
Thanks

I think I readed a while ago that the constrast is changing a bit. I would also want to disable that.

me too!!!
Omg this is SO ANNOYING. I emailed the asus tech guys but all thry said was to return it
Or to send it in for RMA
The contrast is changing? How do you fix (change) that?
Hum mm maybe I should send it back in....

It's a tegra 3 battery saving feature, automatic contrast. It's extremely annoying, but sadly no way to remove it... It's less visible if you up the brightness. Really wish Asus would make it so you could turn it off, at least in performance mode or something...

Hi i have experienced strange problem with my dock. Keyboard does not work at all. Prime detects dock connected, even touchpad and usb works fine. But i cant type anything with hw keyboard... has anyone had problem like this?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
Do you use the stock Asus keyboard for the on screen keyboard, because I recall if you don't it can sometimes freak the dock out.
Im using thumkeyboard. But it has been working normally for past 4 months.and then suddenly keyboard stopped working
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
Thats really weird. Did you update your tablet today?
No. I just spilled few drops of water on dock. But it didnt look that serious. I cant believe it caused keyboard not to work if everything else on dock works normally.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
Water in the wrong place could potentially cause it to stop working. Wait a few days for the water to dry out completely and it should be fine. If not you could try sending it in for repairs but they might not do it for free if they notice the water damage.

Anyone have any luck fixing this?

My keyboard and everything else stopped responding on me once as well. Called ASUS and sent in for RMA, was a little worried since I had a skinomi skin on it. They were able to repair it and not mess up the skin to much, couple of little things were marked up on the skin, but considering I figured they would just remove it, it was a bonus. I know it's not a definite solve, but the keyboard is fixed to the chasis, checked before I sent it in. Got it back in about 10 days from the time I sent it in.
Last two days ago, my prime fell off from our bed, my daughter somehow accidentally kicked it. Never thought about checking the camera right away, busy checkin f theres a dent made, fortunately not. However, yesterday, just realized that the camera was busted. Tried to press the back of the prime somehow fixes temporarily, but still it's annoying.... though i am not so fond of using this tablet as a camera, but seems it's incomplete. Should i return this for service or just leave it like this with bused camera. I know it's my call but i wanna hear some of your opinions. Thanks guys....

Well, as far as I know, it's a software issue were most of Prime users encounter during its lifetime. This happen to me too. I don't know why...

I doubt the reason the camera quit working is due to the fall, I baby my Prime and it has never taken a lick, yet my camera quit working about a week ago, I get the green scrambled screen like many, many others have gotten with theirs. Either they have poor connections to the board internally, or the software drivers are bad. Only my front works, and I live overseas so getting service is going to be a huge pain.

This is really sad for some of the prime owners... lets just be hopeful that someday somehow they can find a way to fix this....

It's most definitely hardware. Squeezing the TFP by the camera brings back the camera for a second which makes it 100% hardware. It's likely a loose connection or poor solder joint.
My rear camera went green and I have never dropped it.
Unfortunately I have unlocked my Prime and therefore "technically" I am out of warranty. I may have to try to RMA it and see if they will fix hardware even if I unlocked it. I also have an LCD Mura and all the weak WIfi and BT issues. I may just wait until any other hardware issues popup and try to get them fixed all at the same time.
yep, this is most definitely hardware related. same thing happened to me and i had to RMA it. they didn't try to pin it on me for CID though, so you should be all set. I had my prime repaired and back in 12 days from sending it.
there are also a number of threads about this already. please try searching before making a new thread.

Good luck!
Mine is currently being RMA'd for exactly the same reason. It had a minor bump and the camera showed a broken image in green. Mine would also temprorarily get fixed by squeezing but after a bit that stopped working. Moral... Treat it like glass.
I am more than pissed. I just checked my camera. And now its GREEN! I take very good care of my equipment. My GF knocked it off of the couch last night while in the dock. maybe 15" fall onto my leg / carpet. I am beyond pissed. Reasons like this are prime example while i will never purchase another asus product.

I've got the green lines of death on my 8mp camera too. It just started happening. I can do the "squeeze" fix but as soon as I stop squeezing it goes back green and I never really get the camera to look right while squeezing. I also tried the soft reset button without help. I really don't want to RMA AGAIN. I just got my Prime back from Asus. I do have to say my RMA experiance was not bad though.
Has anyone found out the cause of this? To fix it ourselves so as to not pay ASUS to do it? I saw somewhere that it might be an overheat problem or something like it....

pretty sure its a physical damage problem, which seems more and more likely is caused by being dropped. might just be a loose connection, but unless someone with this issue opens up their prime to see if they can simply reconnect it, we won't know :\

Mine had never been dropped when it happened. But i found that the fridge gave me a temp fix when the problem first arose.... Don't know how my tablet ended up in the fridge, but that's where i found it lol. Once i get some micro screwdrivers i will be able to check. My eyeglasses phillips was too big for the screws.

All,
I'm recently experiencing a discoloring of my screen when I hold my TF in one hand and typing/touching with the other, white becomes magenta. Please see the attached screenshot with some changed areas encircled.
Has anybody of made similar experiences, is this some loose connector, shall I RMA this, or might this be a software issue?
Your thoughts are highly appreciated.
Regards,
Alex
I can honestly say I have never seen this on my Prime.
I do however get such artefacts from my desktop graphics card just before it freezes my entire system (no idea what causes it, happens about once every 2 weeks).
I get that on my prime too. I think its a result from the back plate pressing onto the display. Not sure what I'll do with mine just yet but planning on sending it to Asus to check it out

I've had mine turn red:
Blacks on Svreen turned Red
I RMA'd it and now all is good execpt for my rear camera just started the green lines from hell and my charging brick decided to kill itself. Other than that all is good with my Prime this week.
I normally only seen something like this happen on bad video cards that overheat.

I thought that was my problem. Added a full cover water block. Card runs very cool now, problem persists. I think EVGA just overclocked my card too much without testing it very much...

I was happening pretty much I got it. Unfortunately I imported it, so RMA costs would be too high for a return. Else the card runs perfect.
Guess when I get my next card, I will RMA this one (seeing that it got 10 years or lifetime warranty IIRC).
Okay, thanks for your answers, sounds like a RMA then...
Cheers,
Alex
Refund offer
Just FYI,
I got an offer from Asus that they will refund my TF201, as they are incapable of fixing it within a reasonable amount of time. They were waiting for spare parts, possibly the LCD screen.
As I'm still within the 6 months limit, I will get a full refund and I've already ordered a TF700.
I'd call this good luck...
Did anyone else who plays dead trigger notice that on the the tegra 3 version blood doesnt splash on the screen? It does on my gs2. When the nexus 7 was shown off i believe they showed blood splattering on the screen.
