So for some unknow reason I opened my lockscreen this morning and did a little facebooking, some texting... anyway I rebooted whle I was in the shower to clear the caches and when I got out it was off. I pushed the power button repeatedly, vol down and pwr, battery pulls, and nothing. I let it sit with the battery out on my dresser while I was at work aprox. 5hrs and when I got home put the battery in and let it charge for about 3 or 4 hrs. The light dont come on when plugged and it still wont boot. Tried my freinds battery no dice. I'm very frustrated that it just "died" for no reason I never had heat issues or reboot issue. I'm on the leaked ruu running BAMF v1.2 with no problems.
My question is whether anyone else has had this problem. I'm sure their is no fix something is really wrong with my hardware but I just wanted see what others have experienced. FYI my rezound was about 18 days old...
Well, I definitely can't think of a more cut-and-dry example of a hardware failure. I'd take it back immediately and see if you can get a physical replacement at a Verizon store.... hopefully a store in your area still actually has the Rezound for sale..
had the same problem, try a different battery.
can you boot into bootloader?

Happened to me sort of phone was at 7% battery then automatically shot off no down animation like it's suppose to. So I thought the battery was just fully dead so I charged it and the light came on for a minute and the shot off and no charging. I went to VZW and it was the battery 3.8v and then they gave me a new battery half off 3.7v and it worked and no more ics battery charging issues as well.

Damn I should have known! VZW owes me $20! Well I would have rather spent the $20 because 3.8v is terrible with ics even with fix.
Try Pulling SIM Card Trick
When I put my Rezound in the car dock, the Rezound powered down and wouldn't restart. While out of the car dock, the Rezound would reboot but crash when starting the desktop and continue the cycle between boot and crash. Different symptoms from yours but the solution may work. I was able to boot and operate the Rezound without a SIM card so I could backup my data. A new SIM card did not help. So I did a factory reset and wipe (without the SIM card). Put the original SIM card back in the phone. Restarted the Rezound and it has been working better than before.
See if the phone will start without a SIM card. Otherwise, the electronics may have died.
Also, Verizon may terminate your SIM if you exchange the phone. I learned the hard way. Your choices are to have Verizon note in their system to NOT TERMINATE the SIM card, or the other choice is that Verizon will need to give/send you a new SIM card with the new refurbished phone. If you keep the original SIM card, put the SIM card in the new phone when you receive it.
Good luck,
I had the same problem once my phone would not charge or boot. I read somewhere that if you plug in your phone and take out the battery for a bit like 5 - 10 seconds and put the battery back in and make sure to put the back cover back on it should start charging. You have to leave it pluged in when you take out the battery. It worked for me hopefully it will work for you too.
Thanx guys it was the battery went to Verizon put in the new battery and it poped on made me feel dumb Cus I tried my friends battery

There may be an issue with the new ICS RUU I'm not sure.
I've been running Nils' ICS Business sense and on my first rezound the battery stopped charging. So I went back to VZ and got a new one, no matter of taking the battery in/out fussing with it changed the situation.
My 2nd rezound came in and I flashed the new ruu and loaded up nils 3.2 at the time. Now just last night it stopped charging the battery the same as my first phone.
I used the same recovery, CWM and the same rom as well. I'm not sure what to make of this. I thought it was just my first phone before my second one started doing the same thing last night.
I can plug them in and the orange charge light will come on for about 3 seconds then shut off.
If I had some way to charge the battery I could try and see if I could fix it but they both now do not charge batteries. I'm going to have to go back to verizon for a replacement again...

Considering that CWM has known issues with the Rezound, why would you be using it?

Your issue is CWM... I went through the same thing.
I know more than a little about Android. I've been hacking and Romming since back in 2007. Last Friday my 3D started rebooting randomly. I tried everything I know. Reflashed different ROMs, same thing. Reflashed the aio 2.17 update. Same thing. reflashed recovery(twrp), same thing. Got 4ext and flashed that, same thing. I didn't know what else to do. Copied all the card to PC, reformatted and copied back, same thing. I had some clues, the GB ROM i was running (CleanROM Reborn) would sometimes report 0% battery. It also would almost never reboot on the charger,
I installed a fresh ROM (MeanROM ICS) and all seemed fine till it randomly factory reset while I was at a gig Sat night!! A week or so ago I was in Austin and left it charging in the car and went swimming. When I got back the battery was reporting overheat. I cooled it off with the AC vent and all seemed well. A few days later, I had a bootloop, thought it was the kernel and did a battery pull. Somehow I must have gotten something on the contacts or didn't seat the battery. I pulled the phone out of my otterbox today and cleaned the contacts and put it back in. powered it up, haven't had a problem since (knock on wood) I'm planning now to get a replacement battery in case I fried mine but only time will tell. I hope this info will help someone at least try the simple stuff first without all the headaches I've had the past 4 days.
This issue happened to my evo 3D : it turned off without reasons.
Sometimes, the battery icon became grey so impossible to see the battery level and few minutes after, it turned off.
One day, it turned off and impossible to power up. I sent it to the repair center and the issue came from battery and other components (contacts with the battery). After other comments on the internet, I'm not the one to met this problem so if it can help you I think that some evo 3d have this issue natively.
PS : sorry for the possible mistake in this message, my english is so bad
to fix random reboots, power off your phone to clear the cache, remove the battery for 30 seconds, place it back in, and power it up. Once it boots up completely, reboot your phone (don't shut down just restart). You should be good. This clears up the bad cache that causes rebooting.

Good post. Yes, I can see this happening for sure. My battery seems a little loose but I have not had this problem. If it turns out I ever do, then this would be my first guess.
I once had an Acura Legend that for no reason would just stall on the road and die. It was very irritating. One time had to have it towed. I had it in two different garages and neither one of them could fix it and told me there was no problem. But sure enough it happened again. The problem was intermittent.
I had it towed again home to my driveway. I'm sittin in it and thinking. For some reason I started jiggling the keys in the ignition and it would start and stall just by doing that. It was a bad ignition switch. I had never had one go bad before. I replaced it myself and all was well.
I went back to one the garages I took it to and told them I found the problem and what it was. The guy said yeah I knew that was the problem and said he told me so. I could have strangled the guy. Never happened that he told me that. They had even charged me $75.00 for fixing nothing. I never went back to that garage. The other garage I didn't bother telling.
Anyway, your battery problem reminded me of all that. Something I'd rather forget about. Thanks.

Yes that would be q normal fix. I tried clearing cache and dalvik AND flashed ROMs and the problem persisted. So far, it's stayed solved. I settled in MeanROM ICS, which I highly recommend btw and have had no reboots that I didn't initiate. I just thought it wierd that a hardware issue would manifest itself that way.
Freeza's All-in-one firmware update helped me as well:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21374142#post21374142
The OP has described my experience to a T. In fact I tried all of those things in that exact order.
I have always suspected the battery but I have tried moving it around in the compartment with the phone on and can't force a reboot. Plus, when mine reboots, the screen freezes for a few seconds, which tells me it hasn't lost power and is most likely a corruption or fault of some kind.
Since upgrading the Kernel I have had less reboots, but it sill randomly happens once a week.
This has been true for 4 different ROMs now.
I have other thoughts that this is either an app crashing the kernel or my cpu can't tolerate even default speeds. None of which I have tested yet.
So friggin annoying!

Yeah, the kernel has something to do with the random reboots too. I had it with some of the dodava kernels. It would happen after unplugging from the charger. I did notice that right before, there would be touchscreen issues. Lag mostly in sipping between homescreen panels or opening apps.

I cleaned the battery contacts. A Q-tip and alcohol to remove any crud. Let it dry, and put the battery back in making sure not to touch the contacts.

Yeah, I'm running proper firmware for my ROM. That was one of the things I tried when I was figuring out wth was happening. My biggest clue was radical difference in battery level on reboots and the system ui battery reporting crashing. I knew then it wasn't the firmware.
Hello everyone,
My sgh i777 (running one of the UCLE5 semi v# ROMS, can't remember which one xD, on siyah v3.4.3) is having a strange problem. What happened was, I put my phone on the charger on my desk, and my sister had a friend over and were messing around. Well I found my phone later in the day on the floor, and it seemed like it was more scratched then. It was still plugged into the charger at the time so I tried to turn it on. However, when I turn it on, the grey battery screen with the loading circle shows up for less than a second, and the screen turns off. Then it will do that again, flashing this screen until I unplug it from the charger. Not matter what I do, it will not get past this screen, and actually, after the screen flashes a bunch of times, you wil stop seeing the battery screen but merely a flash of light on the touchkeys and maybe the screen. I am pretty sure it is not a problem with the charger itself, and I think it may be a problem with the battery. However, my friend had an issue with his Droid (first one) where the charging port on the phone was broken and he had to use an external battery charger to charge the battery, and then it would work fine. To me, the port seems like it is not damaged, and since when I found my phone on the floor it was really hot, I really think the battery just died. I am also fairly certain that this problem is not a software issue, considering I have not tweaked anything on my phone for a few days now, and since it was working just fine before I found it on the floor. I would appreciate any feedback that you guys can give me because, like everyone else, this phone is my baby
Thanks!

Try pulling battery for a few. put it back in. try to get into CWM and wipe cache and dalvik.
Who knows how that happened. But if you have CWM or D/L mode, your fine.
I had this exact same problem on my phone (minus ending up on the floor part). I think it is from the battery overheating. Pull the battery and let it sit for a few. I had to let mine sit out for almost 4 hours before it turned back on. It may not take that long but i would leave it out for at least an hour or 2.
Thanks for your feedback! Yeah I left the battery out of the phone overnight and when I woke up I tried it again and it still did the same thing :/
I want to get an extended battery anyway (I think I'm going to order the qcell one) and if that fixes the problem that'd be great, but if it isn't a battery problem and it could be fixed now I would love to hear how so I am not out a phone until the new battery arrives ;D
Will your phone turn on when not plugged in?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
No it won't even show the battery screen when it isn't plugged in. It only does that with the charger. Also it won't even have the flicker of the touchkeys, just nothing haha.
Try to get another fully charged battery from a friend and see if phone will turn on, or if you have an external charger, charge up a battery and see if it turns on

Ok I will try that as soon as possible
I tried a different battery from a different phone (although it was still a samsung phone and the battery fit right and everything) and the same thing happened >,< nothing would happen unplugged, but as soon as I put it on the charger, the touchkeys would flash, and the screen would flicker at certain intervals. Unfortunately I think this is a more serious problem :/

Same happen with my friend I9100. Power Controller gone. Only service center will help.
Seems like your USB ports are bridged. I had this exact problem. If you're under Samsung's warranty, send it to them and they'll replace it. If not, MobileTechVideos could fix it for you.... Though if you're on a custom ROM then I assume you must put it to stock before sending it out to Samsung...
I got it to work haha. Go figure the one thing I did not try fixed it. -___- I was reading through some other threads and found a guy with a similar problem and he said that he left the battery IN the phone but left it UNPLUGGED. Well I did this overnight and sure enough this morning it worked xD
Reading is wonderful!
Glad you got the problem resolved.

mine was unused for a few weeks too. I thinking its just the battery might actually go to a battery store in my city to get a new one.
Hello,
I bought my Samsung gs2 just over a year ago. I had issues with the battary life all the time (It sometimes lost 20% in a few minutes without reason), but many other gs2 users have similar problems, so I just ignored it. 2 weeks ago, after I unplugged it, it suddenly lost 90% of the battery in an hour, and got extremly hot (the heat wasn't coming from the top of the phone where the cpu is, but from the middle of the it). I shut it down and removed the battery. When I switched it back on it had only 1% left. Now it is completely dead.
The Battery is working properly in my brothers phone, and I reproduced this with 2 other batteries. I suspect there is some kind of hardware damage. When I try to charge it, it displays an overheating alert (both switched on and off), and doesn't charge at all. Now the battery is so low, it doesn't display anything any more.
Unfortunately I installed a custum ROM (wanam lite), because I tried to solve the battery issues, so Samsung won't repair it.
Can anyone please help me keeping the phone alive long enough to flash the original firmware?
Thanks in advance!
do you have any symptoms for a faulty usb port? as for flashing a stock rom just fully charge it (turned off) boot in download mode and fire away... or is it draining your battery in download mode too?
I have the same problem with my white S2 i9100T, sent back twice to repair, just got it back one week ago, finally the battery problem is gone! Last changed is the mainboard, first repair they swaped the battery and updated software(already latest firmware, what the hell they tried to update?).
My phone is just over a year old as well, it has battery problem since first day and only fixed now. As I know only the one made in Vietnam has this problem so yours made in Vietnam probably you will need to replace the mainboard. I am using a 2 yrs old black S2 made in Korea, exactly same model, very stable and never fail, that Vietnam one keep having unexpected behaver, another friend's Vietnam one is the same, recently another friend got one made in China, so fast so good.
Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately My phone seems to drain the battery even when switched off, and it isn't possible to charge it, no matter whether it is on or off. So my only option is to ask somone else to charge the battery, and then try flashing the original software. How long do you think flashing will take? Even if the battery is fully charged, I don't have power for more than half an hour.
Another question: Does anyone know if it is possible to reset the flash counter without booting the phone? I doubt that I will have enough time to install triangle away...
do you have better battery stats? It'll tell you what the problem is more accurately.. I just check it when I have battery issues

hey,
I'm new to all this so beer with me (my 1st smartphone)
I got a new moto g about a week ago and it worked like a charm,
but yesterday it started doing something wired, the battery indicator always shows that the phone i fully charged,
to the point where it shut its self down because it run out, and still showed battery fully charged.
any1 got any idea whats the problem?
Never meet with that kind of bug. Have you tried to re-flash the stock rom? It might fix the problem
A bit of a discussion going on in this thread. You may find something there.
well its not exactly the same problem, but anyway I did a factory reset and it solved it.
and now the phone was on all night and not connected to the charger and the problem returned, shows that the battery is fully charged again.
