Just curious if it would be possible for my phone to have other animations for turning the screen off other than CRT?
Is normal an option?

Lol but I honestly doubt there is an alternative :/ the only way you'll get CRT is with an aosp Rom or cm9 or aokp

I was thinking a fade or zoom would look cool, or fall away mini blocks, ect
I believe go launcher does some, check out there app.

Im not talking about screen transitions, Im looking for when the screen turns off
only way I found to get rid of the CRT animations was upgrading to ICS... on screen on/off ani's at all
I remember seeing an app from the market that gives you different kinds of screen off animation. I just dont remember the apps name. Go look deep in the market, you might find it.

The app is called screen off and lock. But honestly its not the same as having it baked into the Rom, not to mention its only the screen off animation..I guess if you reeeeeaaallllyyyyy need something it helps.

Thanks, gonna try that app, I have been concerned about constantly pressing the power button - no matter how sturdy (power button) seems they might just give out some day

This started with the update to Gingerbread on the Evo 4G. The power management settings were hidden from view unless you knew how to find them so I made an app that granted access to those settings on the Evo. I know that the Evo 3D has is listed in the settings menu, but there's no app drawer widget for it so I installed it on my 3D so I could easily access it from my homescreen. I'm just posting it here for those that might want to use it. It's a small app at 13kb and only sends out an intent for the power saving settings then finish() so it takes no memory outside opening those settings. Feel free to use anyway you want.
Thanks imma try it

Let me know if you have any problems. I may change the icon to match the power settings one. The only difference is the bolt in the middle.

So is there a way to disable the dropdown notification when phone is in the lock screen. Settings, Mod? I know if I set up a screen lock I'll achieve what I want but I don't want that.

I accidentally found that out the other day and didn't like it at all.
I second this, is there a way to turn that off?

When in my pocket.
Picture this, I listen to music all day receive a lot of text and emails. The notification bar sometimes slides down and starts either calling or getting into menus, recent apps, etc.. This happens whenever the phone is woken up in my pocket only Sometimes im doing some carrying and or weird body positiones and the phones power button will get pushed waking the phone and down goes the notification bar.
Makes sense? I'm sure I'm not the only one. Besides what's the point of it being a "lock screen" if it doesn't lock??

The screen is capacitive. That means it should not react to your pocket, if I understand capacitive correctly. It's not like a touch sensitive device. It needs an electric charge to activate the touch screen (the charge from your fingers). I've not had mine react in my pocket.

Correct! But Depends which way It's facing in my pocket. If its facing out wards then no problem but if it's facing in towards my legs then problem which is usually the way I like to put my phone away feels safer

I'm not dying to find a fix but I am interested in being able to turn that feature off.

'mDNIe negative effect toggle with home button (press it four times)' is a feature introduced by SiyahKernel. You don't have that on stock.
This is a mod how to enable navigation bar(on screen buttons) , its very simple and easy...
Add the following line at the end of buid.prop file
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
now on reboot we will have nav-bar like on nexus 4
To disable hardware keys, I used root explorer go to system/usr/keylayout click and hold on kaypad.nl and choose from menu open in text editor and 139,158,172 edit the home to hom and do the same on all 3 lines and hit save and reboot,
Plus I went and deleted all the 139, 158, 172 lines from external_kbd.kl, Generic.kl, MHLRCP.kl, osp3-input.kl and qwerty.kl. I dont know if that helps because I deleted them first then edited the lines in kaypad.nl.
Thanx to accentuer he made a zip that works also and might be easier for some people

If you would prefer they didn't you could always turn them off in settings>display>front key light.
As having both seems redundant.
Does this mod disable the hardware keys, I'll do it but no point in having on screen keys and hardware keys.

Many like this from what I have read. It can come in very handy should hardkeys stop functioning.
With all due respect, for me it takes up screen space I would prefer not to give up. It is a matter of personal preference and options are always a good thing.
Edit: Inverted screenshot= nice.

I would have to agree. It doesn't make too much sense to do this on our device, but I for sure appreciate the know how and option to do it.

I assume all your apps will automatically reconfigure to account for the different screen dimentions?
Hmm, tough choice: give up some screen real estate to gain a dedicated task switcher button and context menu button.

If you don't mind trying something, you could open /system/usr/keylayout/keypad_8064.kl in a text editor and put a "#" (without the quotes) at the beginning of the last 3 lines.
Change:
Code:
key 158 BACK VIRTUAL
key 172 HOME VIRTUAL
key 139 MENU VIRTUAL
To
Code:
#key 158 BACK VIRTUAL
#key 172 HOME VIRTUAL
#key 139 MENU VIRTUAL
I have not tried this as I don't have any plans to use this mod... may want to do a quick backup first in case it renders your phone unnavigable.
You may also still have to turn off the backlights in settings>display>front key light.

HAHA!
np, I hear you and completely understand.
Does anyone know if this is possible? I keep finding myself pressing back, but then it would just leave me back in the app drawer instead of closing the app drawer and bringing me home. I want to close the app drawer with the back button and not need to press the drawer button.
Bump!
It could be dependent on the launcher you are using. I am using Nova Launcher. When I am in the app drawer and I press back, it brings me back to home.

It's rubbish because it doesn't conform to standards and as such is a sore thumb for the user experience. The purpose of conforming to standards is to create consistent operations throughout the product instead of having someone press the back button because it works everywhere else and not work here.

I agree to an extent, only because I find that compared to navigation on the One X, the app drawer makes things clumsy and you have one extra thing to think about. I don't like it, it's not intuitive, but this is a beautiful frackin phone so I won't complain too much.
