Bluetooth with Message Access Profile(MAP) Support? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Looking at getting this phone but i can't for the life of me find if this supports Bluetooth with the MAP profile. I just got a new Toyota Yaris that has support to read and send messages but my current phone doesn't.
Can anyone confirm if this phone has it as i know the Galaxy Nexus doesn't. Or could someone with a SG3 test it on a toyota?
Thanks,
Matt

I'd really like to know the answer to this too. Ford's MyTouch is another vehicle that requires the MAP bluetooth profile for messaging. Crazy that it isn't more common.

Looks like we will have to wait a few days until someone with the car gets one. I guess a lot of people are too busy playing with the new toy to worry about that just yet. I know i would be!

Herald/Wing with a BTB200

I have a Pioneer AVIC-D3 with a CD-BTB200 bluetooth kit that will allow me (technically) to broadcast bluetooth music to my headunit, and also to use as a handsfree through the stereo. Has anyone done this before? On the AVIC411 forums, a lot of people have had some serious issues with WM6 and synchronicity, but some people have downloaded JetWARE and been able to use one function or the other.
Any input would be awesome.
Ok...it seems no one else cares, but I got it to work with the phone functionality. It's rather cool sounding, and I like it a lot. The only problem I'm running into currently is that I can only send my contacts across one at a time, which is kinda lame.
question
do u mean u can play music in ur car, as long as the car is bluetooth enabled?
thats great..i dont have a car with that yet.. but i plan to, and thats great to know.. thanks

So you got it working. with out any bugs,
Try this: in the registry of your device HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\SYS\COD
change the value to 5374476 (DEC). That helped me. The Phone changes in bluetooth to a smartphone (I don't know the difference to WM5-6.1).
I used jetwaremobile.com and downloaded the hands free config profiles onto my wing and it works fine.

Bluetooth Profiles on Hero

Hi everybody.
I've read at a couple of places that the Hero does not include any sim / phonebook remote access profiles which means I cannot sync my contacts with my Parrot CK3100 car kit.
I'm wondering if anyone knows why HTC would have removed this profile from their build when it was working perfectly as part of the standard cupcake build.
And also whether it is likely that HTC will reinstate this profile through future updates?
Speculation or definite answers welcome!
I'm also having this problem, as well as getting the phone to automatically reconnect when the phone and handset find eachother. Any body any ideas?
Ask Google why they STILL haven't added a full BT stack. It's the same for both the HTC Dream and HTC Magic aswell. UNLESS you wander the way of the rooters ofcourse. Then you will be able to use all those nifty little tools only the rooters can use.
I think that Google is a little bit slow on this subject tbh. But then again I have no idea of what they prioritize either. Maybe they have a BT stack but they feel it has some serious security issues? ONLY Google knows. Well... a couple of XDA's hardcore hackers might know too... isn't Haykuro around somewhere?
I have rooted my phone (yesterday). Can anyone suggest any tools that may help with this? Appreciate any help anyone cab give!
no problems here
hello i have just got my hero and im still learning the in's and outs of the device as i have come from a WM device, but have loads of success so far.
I have a in car bluetooth system and i have no problems with connecting, and searching my sim card for contacts.
The problem i do have though is that it will not read my phone contacts just the sim.
Its not a big problem as i on a regular basis back up the phone memory to the sim anyway in case i have to switch phones.
Im not sure why you guys are having problems but im happy to help in anyway.
I haven't rooted my device as i see no reason to just yet its all stock, and runs like a dream.
I have a ford mondeo with the STD sony system in it if that helps, oh and it connects as soon as i get in the vehicle
I think I may have cracked this:
I stuck a random contact on my SIM card, the Parrot handsfree now finds all of the contacts on the phone, and automatically links to the phone when in proximity. Odd, but adding that contact seems to have unlocked remote sim access.
Give it a try!
same here ... added one contact onto my sim, then full access to contacts!
Works very well with the Land Rover Bluetooth PTI (designed by Nokia as it happens). Full contact list navigation on the stereo head unit.
I am having a similar issue with an in car BT head unit. I have a Pioneer DEH-P7100BT. I have had problems connecting the hero to this. It starts contacts download and stops at contact number 14 for some reason. I have tried to delete the 14th contact but still gets stuck at 14. I have all my contacts backed up on the sim as well.
It is also proving to be an issue automatically connecting to the head unit when I get into the car. I resolve that by switching the BT off and then on again, then it connects OK. Not ideal.
The wifey has an Iphone 3GS and that connects to the unit every single time. No connection issues at all.
The BT Audio option works a charm with both the Hero and the 3GS. I usually play Last FM and Imeem over 3G and stream via BT to the head unit, pretty cool over all, if only I could sort out the connection issues with the HERO.
I just got the hero a couple of days ago, and although I am loving it, I really cant stand the lag in absolutely everything. I am having problems even accepting calls sometimes as it realises I have just clicked the receive call button after 10 seconds or so.

Mine does it the opposite way - reads the phone memory and not the sim memory. It's taken me 2 days to complete changing the profiles of people so far as I couldn't figure out why active sync wasn't working.

[Q] starting a command/call, Bluetooth/wired headset

I use a wired headset which functions like a Bluetooth headset in that you can initiate a call by pressing a button. The problem I have is when the screen goes to sleep I cannot initiate a call. I have to wake the screen up before the phone responds to pudding the headset button. Obviously this is not good. Hands free is hands free. Does anyone have the same problem? What happens with Bluetooth users?
interested in what the response is here...
longtime iphone user who just switched to the ATT Skyrocket (basically the galaxy s2 with LTE) and really not happy with android. samsung did NOT include headset (bluetooth or wired) initiated voice dialing with this phone and it is a vital feature to me. i just figured ALL phones nowadays had this feature and for a 250 dollar phone to not have it was ridiculous to me.
so now i'm thinking about using my one switch (still within the 30 days) to use windows phone instead and was wondering how the bluetooth performance is on the titan.
Check out the thread about 'The other party can't hear me clearly. No high-frequency'. There was one person that posted a solution and it was using Bluetooth... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20299518#post20299518
You might PM him and see what kind of response you get.
My phone is a week old and except for the hurdle of no outlook sync and this thread, I am totally happy at this point. Battery life could be better but I am playing with it soooo much it would be the smae with my old phone.
Consider this one resolved... found where the setting is and it works fine.

works perfect.
I should have shared my findings earlier but I was a little miffed about the number of views and the lack of responses.
I've posted here enough times to prove myself and have always replied when I can help. I am new to WP7 but have been a long time WM user. I just thought it was odd that mo one posted up an answer.
Plus I was having a bad day which is very unusual for me.

[Q] Bluetooth Call Annoucements

My old HTC Star Trek (3125) did this well, and when I got my HD2 I was pissed to find out that HTC had strayed from MS's Bluetooth stack and broke.
I hoped this would be fixed on the Android platform, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Gingerbread on the HD2 didn't make any improvement, and now my Galaxy Nexus is no better.
I ride motorcycles too and from work and on trips. I used to take calls on the bike but anymore what I really need to know when the phone rings if it's from someone I need to pull over and take the call from, or from someone that I can just let it go to VM. Having texts read over BT would be nice too.
I tried Sanity... even paid for it hoping the other features would make it work. No joy.
Has anyone else go this working?

GS4 Car Bluetooth Problems

I have done some googling and found that the GS4 has been a tricky beast to get fully working with bluetooth car systems. Was wondering if anyone else is having problems with theirs? And if there are any generic workarounds? I know car systems aren't the best either.
I drive a 2014 Corolla S and both the phone and car support the same protocols though when it doesn't work fully. It seems like it takes an absurd amount of time to sync up. It will sync with the car when I get in but won't let me send any voice commands. All I get is a message saying voice control is initializing. I have tried other phones... GN2 and Droid DNA and they sync up ready to go instantly.
Other places on the internet say the GS4 has issues with backwards compatibility. Can anyone weigh in on that?
I am rooted on ME7, I wonder if there have been updates to the bluetooth. I have checked change logs but may have overlooked something. I really do not want to update.

I can't say much about car bluetooth, but my s4 (mj7) is awful on bluetooth. It's always choppy, cutting in and out.
Just my two cents!!!
Verizon Galaxy S4
Safestrap 3.7
HYPERDRIVE 11
Yea that's why I would be afraid to update. It does work fine with my turtle beach headset and I tried my dad's earpiece and that seemed fine. But none of those devices sync contacts and sms messages and call log etc..
Same issues with my Sony xav-601bt. I have to sync it manually every time for Pandora Bluetooth. This never happened on my s3.. Oh well s5 around the corner soon anyways
